[Q] Xperia Z (NO USB Connection) - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dear Genius - Developers - Friend - Specialist,
first of all I would like to say THANK YOU for all of your help.
You helped me to rescue my loved (Xperia arc S) and it was totally ****ed up.
But of course how could it be different, I´ve had made another mistake and I knew it was my fault...
But I need help __Urgently__
Problem :
Xperia Z is locked by a 3x3 Pattern-Lock
so far so good
But I have lost my Pattern, thus i´m confused and I don´t know how to deal with it.
Next my Computer doesn´t notices my Smartphone, although it is connected to the PC.
Possible Solutions:
Sony PC Companion isn´t working because I do not have a USB Connection
SUS is no longer available
The Problem is "The USB Connection"
I´ve opened the back door cover to look if it were bricked.
I do not have root or CWM or any other ROM
It is just the stock Rom...
I would be very happy if you can help to solve this....
ADB is not listening this phone...

I've got this problem with my old Arc S .My problem with Arc S was pm8058 (Power Management IC ) that was damaged and because of that IC i lost my USB Connection Completly.
Try to Connect A USB device with OTG cable if the phone Recognize The Device This Means you have data connection .
Example :Connect A USB mouse to phone if the pointer is shown on screen the USB Data link is working.
I think your problem is USB female Socket on Phone itself or Power Management IC that located on MainBoard.
Another thing :
Connect your Phone With USB Cable to a PC ,if the phone heats after about a minute the problem is IC.

Xperia Usb Connection and Charging Problem...

Hai..
iam new bie, i just newly purchased xperia xli. after using 4 month, iam now facing some problem, every time if i need to charge or connection for active sync i need to restart, and this repeats every time. and if i try to open task manager or Device information in settings it will give an error
"cannot open 'ctlpnl'. A critical conponent is either missing or cannot start because program memory is unavailable. Tap start> settings > system tab> task manager, stop programs that did not automatically stop and try again".
and i cannot even make screen off by pressing power button for that also i need to restart.
So please give me some information regarding this so that i can solve this problem.
Thank you
I would hardreset it
Thanks for reply
I had done it already, after hard reset first time i can charge and connect to active sync also, and if i disconnect it and try another time it wont work, again i have to hard reset to charge or to connect it to active sync. so pls give me solution for this,
for more information i will provide my device information
software version: R3AA003

xperia usb connection problem
i see no one is taking this matter seriously
i have googled for the past 4 weeks and it seams many people are having this problem with xperia/wm6 devices - its just that not many of them understand the problem and know how to express themselves (e.g. many belive it's a problem with the pc's usb ports)
i would suggest does interested in IT mysteries and things like that to look into this one. i can explain the problem here:
I've used xperia/windows mobile 6 device for about 6 months, syncing it daily or semi daily (or weekly..) all that time via USB connection and active sync installed on winxp.
one day i plugged the usb cord into my phone and - nothing. the phone has started charging as thou it's connected to a charger and not to a PC - one of the first things i noticed cause i specifically always have the "don't charge the device while connected to a pc" box ticked on.
what is very important to know is that NOTHING of the following didn't fix this problem:
changing cords
changing ports
changing pc's
soft reset via button on the back
hard reset
nudging the cable
usb hub pc connection
direct pc connection
updating windows mobile
toggling ANY option in the OS itself
charging/discharging the device
changing the chargin cable, then connecting
leaving it off without a battery for a long period of time (12+ hours)
---------all other idiotic suggestions that are being written all over the net by dumb asses who think they can shoot a guess and come of as smart guys---------
bear in mind that this happened after absolutely no physical damage to the device or any kind of extreme working conditions, exceeded cpu/memory use etc.
it would be great if someone could solve this mystery. activesync is still working via Bluetooth but it's just stupid to transfer files over the slow bluetooth connection whilst having a USB connection as one of the greatest advantages of this kind of a device
i kindly thank in advance to anyone having some kind of an idea about how it's possible for a USB connection to just stop working, for absolutely no reason.
bye&cheers!
Matija
Anyone has the solution for this problem? Like Matija said, it happened suddenly for no reason... My x1 has been facing this problem for 3 weeks
I cannot update my phone via my PC
I recently having problem with my X1 syncing with my home PC and charging from my Laptop
Now I found out that, those mini USB cable might be good enough to charge the phone, or even trying to sync, but then it gets error more and more often. So try getting some better quality cables (ie. those with "Magnetic Shield" near the end), see if that fix the problem
good luck

USB Connection

Hey there
My phone has been connecting perfectly fine since I got it about a year ago right up to a couple of days ago.
I've just changed my contract and wanted to unlock the phone. However, before I could even go about doing I discovered that my computer (Vista 32bit) was no longer recognising the phone.
When I plug it in it does charge but the computer gives no reaction. Even when I put the Kaiser into bootloader it still says Serial instead of USB.
I have tried disabling enhanced network functionalities on the phone, I have reinstalled Windows Mobile Device Center, I have hard reset the Kaiser, I have used multiple USB cables and multiple USB ports (all of which work with other devices).
As a result of the hard reset I have now lost the majority of my data. It's all backed up on my computer but this isn't much use when it refuses to recognise the phone!
What can I do to fix this?
Any help would be very gratefully accepted!
Cheers
McAsh
I would try it on a friends XP machine or a friends Vista machine. Try to narrow down if it is the phone or your PC , and then proceed from there.
HI!
I have the same right problem!
The only way i can do activesync is connecting the phone in activesync by bluetooth and the sincronization is fine, but i need to put HardSPL in it and i need that it can be recognized by USB connection and my Kaiser is only charging from USB, it is not being detected by the computer.
PLEASE HELP!!!
Thanks!
had same problem
no one help, I started a thread and no replies
till today I plugged my kaiser to usb and computer recognized and synced
I was using bluetooth to sync for a couple of months
I really didn't do anything to fix this first I thought it was usb connection but it wasn't because I was able to put new rom thru the usb so connetctoin was there when the phone is in the hard reset mode. WEIRD ha
mostly these things comes down to 3 reasons
1. defect usb connector in the ppc
2. corrupt activesync install full uninstall and clearing registry of the pc should fix that
3. issue with usb port chipset drivers for on the pc
Also having a similar problem.
My computer recognizes my Kaiser as "HTC USB Sync" in the Device manager but nothing more happends. Could it yet be the phone USB connector that is broken? Also I was able to flash the rom yesterday (from bootloader).
When plugged in, my phone totally freezes and becomes available again the moment I unplug it and by then starts "connecting to host".
If I uncheck the "allow usb connections" box in WMDC the phone is workable but very juddery.
Have tried to completely uninstall WMDC and reinstall it again with no success whatsoever.
Any tips or is my only solution to buy a bluetooth-dongle?
The solution for mine is really the repair center unfortunately!
It really seems to be a hardware problem in the USB connector, i can't even change a firmware, the pda simple isn't recognized by the computer :S
Anyway thanks for the help!
Regards!
I am also having the same problem!! My question is how do you use bluetooth to sync with the activesync(not too computer saavy!!)
Check the usb connection on the phone. It may have a contact pushed over or broken
I got the same sympton.
I can get my phone to sync by pushing the USB connector harder towards the phone. Yes, it is connected already, and it is not lose, and the PC recognise it as HTC device in Device Manager, but it is just not detected by the (Vista) Windows Mobile Device Center
If I keep pushing the usb connector in (towards the phone), then it would get detected and start syncing. If I relax my hand and stop pushing, the active sync connection will drop immediately (still detected as HTC USB device in Device manager though).
Therefore, I have to keep pushing it in to have a successful sync. I don't dare to flash the firmware anymore... :-(
P.S. I am using the official O2 WM6.1 firmware, and using the original USB sync cable. I noticed that the original USB cable's connector head is a bit longer than ALL my other USB cable's connector head (the mini USB head).
Originally I didn't need to do the push in for the phone to get recongised, so I figure it is some sort of wear and tear on the phone's connector... :-( This does put me off in purchasing another HTC phone, because the new one is likely to suffer from the same wear and tear...
btw, before the connector got that bad, when it was connected but not synchronising, I could get it to sync just by launching Windows mobile device center (which is a different program than sync center in vista); and of course, when it was all brand new, I just need to connect the phone to the PC via the USB cable, and everything happened automatically...
I am trying to flash my first rom and the computer would not detect the phone. Took a look at the female mini USB socket on the phone and the 3rd pin out of 5 was much lower. Took a tiny screw driver and pushed it up and I got success. Its a little sensitive but if you dont touch the phone it will work fine.
Good luck
Jason
HI gdarrenc!
The way to sync it via Bluetooth is when you open the activesync in your pda, in the options menu you have the option to sync via bluetooth
Regards!
possible solution if feeling brave
My hotsync failed a few days ago, did the usual searches and posting on here with no joy and then did a google search for a picture of the mini usbport.
on inspection of mine in comparison i noticed the two leftmost pins were down to the point they were in the sticky out black bit so with a pair of my wifes best precision tweazers i flexed the black bit down slightly and slid the tweazers to the right lifting them up slightly. as soon as retested it is now working again.
NOTE BE VERY VERY GENTLE WHEN DOING THIS - DO NOT USE ANY FORCE
my guess is this is due to an ill fitting usb cable as mine had a certain degree of up and down flex when connected.
hope this helps someone.
I am also having issues with pc-htc connection.
But, this happened when I pulled the usb out of the phone with my leg.
Now, I squezzed usb head a little, and it works fine.

[Q] XZ charges by USB but does not connect

Hi all,
Since a few days I am the proud owner of a Xperia Z, coming from years and years of iphones, it's a huge relief.
I am however struggling with one issue :crying:
For your info, the phone has the original ROM
I bought myself a Sandisk 16GB SDHC card, to put my music on.
However when I connect my phone to my WIN7 laptop, nothing happens. No device seems te be detected.
I have installed the Sony PC Companion software, but it does not detect any phone at all.
The phone however is charging via USB.
I have tried both available USB modes MTP and MSC but I can't get it to work.
Any clues?
probably drivers issue, maybe you could try downloading the drivers from the official sony website. I am not really sure its just an educated guess as they say

I'm having a similar issue myself mate. For some reason a while ago my PC decided it didn't like connecting my phones anymore. So now. All the issues. Trying to sort them out now with removing old drivers. Installing new ones. All painful crap.
Maybe this has nothing to do with it but:
My PC will not read my Xperia Z its SD \ Internal memory when it is on lockscreen. (PIN code I use)
It only charges the phone in this state, when you unlock the phone the drives show up.
(Ofcourse also when I connect it unlocked.)
Kind regards, Stefan.

Sure, driver problem! Does PCC show 'connecting to device' when it's connected? (although it doesn't show in pcc)
Sent from my C6602 using xda app-developers app
It turned out to be a cable problem, one of the pins was bent.

it s because of driver installation that windows sometimes get problem.
so u should check it inside windows.
First;
Try to change USB mode, turn off firewall and change USB ports
Second;
HERE's THE SOLUTION:
Go to the Registry Editor (Start --> Run --> "regedit" --> [ENTER])
Search the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\
If you click one of the few subkeys in class (e.g. {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}) you'll find the string value (Standard) on the right side with a value (e.g. DVD/CD-ROM-Drives)
You have to find the value "Portable Devices" on the string value (Standard) (In my case {EEC5AD98-8080-425f-922A-DABF3DE3F69A}, but I don't know if they are called always the same.
Once found, you see a string value called UpperFilters --> DELETE IT!
Finished! Now your Samsung Mobile MTP Device should be recognized and even installed correctly right away. (The name of the device changed to GT-I9100 (Devicemanager) in my case...)

make sure your Usb cable is true
try it with other device (for charging)

go to setting>Storage>3dot>Usb Computer Connection> Tik MTP mode
I tried with another charger and the pronlem persists. I tried also to reflash rom but nothing. Has anyone replaced usb plug?

Question Mi 11 not connecting to my PC?

Hello does anyone else have a problem with the Mi 11 connecting with a USB? I have the Asus Prime Pro X570 motherboard with mutiple USB ports, 2 usb ports on the front of my Corsair 5000X and every port apart from 2 will only charge the phone. The two usb ports connected to the ethernet rail the phone constantly connects and disconnects and the select file transfer, no action etc on my phone literally flashes and has seizure.
It can't be the cable because it works on other PCs. Also tethering works through USB. It's only when I'm trying to access the phones files?
Hello I Have the same Mainboard with the same problem and what can I say... For me the solution was an other pc to unlock the bootloader and flash a cfw. Then tested on my main pc and still nothing. Then tested my three other USB cables and with two it worked.
I have no idea why that is a thing. Maybe the Mainboard USB problem that had to be patched since 1.2.0.0?

Maybe it's an Asus problem but I brainstormed and was like wtf it's android. If you need to transfer files you can use an ftp client and do it over WiFi, but it still sucks cause I can't flash anything
I had the same problem but after I connected the phone to a 3.0 USB port the problem solved instantly.
