Light Manager Compatiblity - Galaxy S6 Themes and Apps

Someone reported that after updated to Android 5.1.1. Missed call and Gmail LED notification does not work anymore in both normal mode and alternating mode. They are always blinking the default blue color LED.

Is there anyone having the same problem as well?

Yup, all the regular system apps controlled by the Samsung setting are always blue. It still blinks, but I can only get my added AndChat app notification to blink the orange that I have it set to. And when my phone goes into prority only at night, all notifications including my added apps are the default solid blue, doesn't even blink. Hope we get it fixed, I absolutely hate not being able to customize my LEDs.
I wonder if any apps work better with root? I am also stuck waiting on a new root method since I updated to 5.1.1 before reading about the bootloader lock.

Thanks for the info. Does Light Manager work when you disable "LED indicator" in the system settings?
Have you tried enabling Priority for Light Manager? See if when you phone goes into priority only at night, will your added apps LED still working with Light Manager?

I will try setting light manager to priority and let you know what happens.
Also, as a note, my orange AndChat notification stopped working today. It's just a solid blue all the time. I haven't changed anything - seems Samsung's LED controller is finicky about its control. Email, etc still blinks default blue.
edit: Also, forgot to answer - No, the LED doesn't work at all if I disable the LED indicator in the system settings.

Thanks for helping in testing.
I just thought of something. Is your device rooted? I'm not sure if it will work if you put Light Manager to be as system app as well?

I'm not rooted and having the same issue. I hope there is a fix for this.
Whatsapp appears to be flashing with my colors but the default system email is still lighting blue (i don't want ANY light for email) but there doesn't appear to be a way to turn it off

No problem, happy to help.
1. No change on setting to priority mode except that Gmail, etc continued to blink blue instead of solid blue. AndChat continues to be solid blue. I have no idea at one point the orange light I had it set to worked, but it's been all solid blue since yesterday morning.
2. No root, there is not currently a root method for android 5.1.1 on the S6 due to the exploit being patched. We are waiting for a new root method, hopefully soon!

Custom Color Issues
Does anyone else have an issue where the custom colors dont flash the color you chose? I got it to work once but after that it just blinks to the closest default colors... e.i. i want it to flash a celeste color but it it just blinks blue.. any help is appreciated

Yes, I have mentioned above having that problem. My added app briefly showed the colour I chose, but now everything - added and system apps - show the default blue, either blinking or solid.
Other LED manager apps are also not working. Looks like Samsung made some kind of change in 5.1.1. For now we'll have to sit tight as we are out of luck.

Too bad that there is no root method currently.
Please check if the notification access for Light Manager is enabled? I heard that some users complaining that the notification access for Light Manager will get disabled automatically when the device is rebooted.
Also try using alternating mode, I think AndChat will not work in normal mode.

What app notification are you referring to?

Does anyone with the S6 Edge on 5.1.1 have light manager working for missed calls, had it working on led blinker before the 5.1.1 update.

Yes, light manager has notification access. I think this is why some notifications are able to blink. The system default is a solid blue light. There is no issue with my phone on 5.1.1 causing the notification access to be turned off after reboot.

I rooted my S6 today on 5.1.1. I still can't get Light Manager or Light Flow to work properly even with root. Light Manager some notifications blink blue, but others stay solid blue - no reaction to custom colour changes. Light Flow will not show the LED *at all* even with "root mode" activated.

Still not working on s6 edge?

I am on Android 5.1.1 and I am one of the ones reporting that Light Manager no longer works.
Today, though, I did something that may provide a clue to the problem. Perhaps McKoo is reading...
I just installed the latest version of Light Manager Pro on my S6 Edge. I then configured it to my preferences and rebooted the phone. As soon as the phone came up, I used my PC to send myself a text message. Now here is the important part. As soon as the text message was received, and before the alert notification took place, my LED started blinking according to the color and speed I configured in Light Manager for SMS messages (orange, every two seconds). However, as soon as the notification process alerted me to the text message (which I am assuming is a Samsung / Android process), my LED flashing reverted back to the standard blue flash every 5 seconds.
I sure hope the information above is helpful because I really like the Light Manager application. It provided the functionality that Android and Samsung forgot!

Thanks for the explanation.
The LED notification on Samsung devices used to be the first come first serve basis. However from Touchwiz 5.1.1. onwards, like what you have noticed, it had changed to last come first serve basis. Actually right after the Samsung / Android process generates the standard blue LED, Light Manager will generate the orange LED one more time but at this time Light Manager can no longer override the standard blue LED (I am not sure why as well).
If you are using alternating mode, Light Manager will keep on generating LED notification according to the "Interval Of Change" that you have set. However this only happens when you have more than one notification. Could you try generating the 2nd notification (Let say generating a Gmail LED notification after you have generated an SMS LED notification), see if it can override the standard blue LED?
Suddenly I have an idea, could you please go to Light Manager > Advanced Settings > Enable Logging and enable it? Then do the testing above and send me the generated log.txt file which will be generated in your internal storage under a folder named "LightManager". I suspected that maybe Touchwiz 5.1.1 drops / ignores all the notification access detection related to system apps. I might be able to know by analyzing the log.txt file.
Thank you.

Sorry for the delay. I set the app as a system app via Titanium Backup, set it up again, and have no change in behaviour unfortunately.

Blue trackball?

Ever since I can remember for the first week I've had my nexus, my trackball has always lit up blue/cyan even without root for any type of notification I had. Yesterday I rooted successfully and tried to use trackball alert to change the color for notifications. After installing the app and patching the framework (I'm running CM 5.0.6) I tried to change the color. When ever I select a color other then cyan, blue, magenta, or white the track ball doesn't light up. No matter which of the four colors that work that I choose to change it to, the trackball always lights up blue.
Today I was out with my friend and noticed his nexus's trackball was lighting up green for new notifications and white for calls, I guess thats normal ; he has root but hadn't changed the colors with trackball alert. I told him about the app and he was able to change to any of the colors allowed in the app.
Is my trackball broken? whats wrong with it?
Thanks

Sounds like all your LEDs aren't firing. If I'm not mistaken, it consists of 3 colors, Red, Blue and Green. Normally, for a stock rom, you'll see white flashing and blue when you're using bluetooth. If all you're seeing is Blue, Green, and everything in between, it sounds like your red it dead. (wow. . . that whole last part rhymed).
how would i go about fixing this?
Just call htc and technical support set up and advanced replacement you need a credit card and the google checkout email. They will guide you through the process. If you want to save some time just tell them you have already done a factory reset and the problem is still there and they will send you a new one and give you instructions on how to return your device to them
Well, my phone is rooted so I don't think they will take it back, will they? Is there any other way like replacing it myself?

Disable trackball pulse when screen on

I remember when the Milestone got one of its updates, Motorola set it up so that the notification light would only pulse when the screen is off. This is helpful because it can be very distracting, and besides which, there is already a notification bar displaying the same information.
Is there any way I can do the same with the Nexus One, and suppress the glowing trackball only when the screen is off?
Thanks
C

Yes I'm already on CM6 and I'm loving the custom trackball colours. But I can't find an option to disable it when the screen is on. Could you direct me to this feature? *EDIT: I found it, "always pulse" is in the Advanced menu. I think the behaviour is a bit wonky though because I already had it disabled and I was still sporadically getting pulses with screen on. I will have to test this further.
Also I'm wondering how CM6 comes up with the list of apps whose colours I can customize. I'm running the Trillian Beta and it pulses white for notifications, but there is no option to customize it in-app and Trillian doesn't appear in the package list for custom colours. I'd love to customize that one too.
Okay I just experienced it again. I was using androidVNC when a text message came in. The ball started glowing green even though the "always pulse" option was disabled. I went into Settings to confirm as much. I checked the option and unchecked it, and then the pulsing stopped.
So it seems that sometimes the OS "forgets" and pulses the trackball anyway even though the screen is on?
ive got the complete opposite problem, sometimes for me it doesnt pulse and sometimes it does only wen the screen is on. but it seems as if it does watever it wants to. must be some sort of problem... also mine doesnt pulse the colors i ask it too as if it doesnt get that i just got an email and i want to pulse it blue instead just white. it seems messed up

Notification LED control?

Are there any notification light customizers that work properly on the Vivid? I'm coming from a Desire, which natively only wanted to do green notification blinks, but LED Me Know allowed me to configure notifications so that SMS messages got an orange blink, which was handy when my phone was across the room, to see whether I had an email (green) or SMS (orange). I installed it on the Vivid and got it to work once when doing the light test, but never again.
I've noticed there are several on the Market, has anyone tried one that works?
For what it's worth, I ended up solving this with Light Flow from the Market. It seemed not to work properly at first, but after receiving a tip from the developer to enable the 'Mixer' for each notification and choose the colour there, it works just fine.
Good to know. Thanks I'll try it out.

good to know, i will definitely install this.
Does this app actually work for anyone here? I tried it with "Direct mode" enabled, "Mixer" led color and I have no led acknowledgment when I receive a sms/mms/call. I disabled "Direct mode" chose green for sms/mms/calls and when I get any of those my light never stops blinking. I've tried each setting for "clear notification style" with no luck.
It's working fine for me. Turn on the mixer, choose the LED you want, set it to hardware flashing. For my SMS, I did have to turn on the option for alternate on/off notifications because I don't use the stock messaging app. But I don't think I had to mess with 'clear notification,' I just left it on 'App Entered.'
But yeah. Working very well here.

i have the paid version and i don't see mixer anywhere.
does not work on the HTC raider
Yea i have paid version & it doesn't work for me either.... Still. Have yet to find one that does. Trying out "Phone notifier" now from a developer here on XDA (it's listed on Android Market) but it won't keep my Vivid's led flashing either, though it plays a sound & vibrates.
Wait, are your phones rooted? I don't think it'll show up (you need to turn on Compatibility mode) unless you root.

Mine isn't rooted (yet) but I did have compatibility mode enabled. It automatically did it the first time I launched this app after recognizing it was an HTC. I had the mixed led color selected for SMS, MMS, & missed calls. None of those actually kept my led flashing after the standard 5/10 minutes the phone does standard with no extra apps. Not sure why it's so difficult on the Vivid, it wasn't on my Evo.
Good tip I've been looking for something like this!

LED Control?

So, when I first got the phone and was running the stable Chinese ROM, I could use an app called "Light Manager Pro" to control the color of a notification LED for any particular app.
Now, I've flashed the unofficial global ROM, and it seems that app no longer can control my notification light. I've also tried "Light Flow," and if anything, it makes it worse (the LED doesn't come on at all when using that app).
The app has notification access, and it is an exception to MIUI battery saver (meaning it should run in the background all the time). Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
Did you try the trick where you bring up the running apps/task manager and swipe down and select lock? (Presumably to keep it locked in memory)

This doesn't do anything. Something about how the app wants to control the LED is not how the phone wants the LED to be controlled (as an added note, things like "Flash Rate," have absolutely no effect on the LED when it does light up).
Anyone got it to work yet?

Use TIBU to make it a system app...only thing I can think to try. That's the only way I could get TeslaUnread to stay open.
I also like to configure the LED color but the Mi Mix led is so faint that I don't even bother.
Anybody manage to solve this yet. I haven't, and it's been quite a long time.
actually the LED light control app is not run on miui but it works well on samsung or some of huawei phone

LED Notification Work-Around on Stock?

Is there anyway to get the notification light to work on this phone? Custom ROMs do have the blue notification LED, so I was wondering if maybe you could edit the build.prop or something to activate the notification light in stock. Maybe something with Tasker would work as well? The apps that use the camera flash as the LED notification are way too bright and blinding.

If you are rooted there's an app on Google Play that is called Moto LED enabler that kinda works. It keeps popping up the toast that it's been granted root access, but it does work. I was too annoyed by the root access toast notifications to keep it though.
