Yes, it is a problem to Unlock the Bootloader in Lollipop.
I saw a Custom Bootloader Unlocking Tool prepares by Satzyb for ZenFone 5 & 6.
Hope to get a Custom Bootloader Unlocking Tool for ZenFone 4 also.
Please someone share if you have anything that will work.

I have successfully unlock boatloader and install CyanogenMod 12.1 on my zenfone 4.
Please check your internet connection first or try use wifi. Good Luck.

Bootloader Unlocker is not working. I get the message "Unknown error connecting to network" even when using Wi-Fi

It was a server error, earlier the app was getting problem in connection with Asus Servers to Unlock, but now its solved you easily can unlock the bootloader even on Kitkat or Lollipop.

Have to install a custom recovery before you can install any kernal,
To unlock it buy a unlock code as far as im aware there is no way to do this other then that. I started a thread about unlock on this device before.
Also all the information you need can be found in the sp c5303 forums, Go take a look

Sim unlocking and bootloader unlocking are Completely different.
To flash custom kernels, you need your bootloader unlocked search on Google Sony sp bootloader unlock for guide etc.
To unlock sim to any network then you need to buy a code or take to local phone shop for them to unlock.
Rooting will never give you these options it just allows you to customise your phone, give you control over device.

OK. I may be being thick here. I have googled guides as suggested, but my bootlocker status says NO. So, not possible? And the 2 sites i tried for sim unlock both were unable to get a code and refunded my money...
Help?
My Galaxy S2 was no bother.... :crying:

Your bootloader is locked because your SIM is locked. Your carrier can give you an unlock code if you're not on contract

Someone already tried that?
I don't know mate, that's serious thing - it will, most probably end with a unusable device.
Try to remember where did you found that and what original web said.
Tnx

Really interested in the outcome too...if it works I am planning on keeping my Z.
*sigh*
You found that zip here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39178406#post39178406
It is used only to fix the status being incorrectly changed to No when using the goroh_kun method to root. It does not make a non-unlockable bootloader into an unlockable bootloader.
What is the point in giving false hope with some random zip when you cannot remember where you found it or what it's even for?
Don't you guys think if there was a method to achieve the unlocking of a non-unlockable bootloader, that it wouldn't be stickied in this forum/the development section?
There is no way currently and may never be, as -
- The security used is extremely tight, with multiple security checks all reliant on each other. The bootloader unlock status is stored in the TA partition, therefore any attempt to bypass this security may end in hard bricking your device.
- I'm not sure anyone is even working on breaking it currently. If they are, then they're keeping quiet about it.

It can be changed (re-flash bootloader) by official Sony service center but there is no exploit. If you ask nicely they might be able to do it for you.
No possible, sorry.

Lost tether...

Was working fine a few weeks ago, now it tells me to call big red, and I can't think of anything I've done that should have caused this to happen.
Anyone have a solution or should I be looking for an app?

The 4.4.2 broke root and overwrote your tethering mod. read the thread below

If you have an unlocked bootloader, it's easy to enable hotspot again.

What does unlocking process involve? Ive heard there is a code.. and if you get the code does it work for every x or just yours..
---------- Post added at 12:57 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:53 AM ----------
I guess all are able to be unlocked not just dev versions.. i will hook my usb cable to my laptop and start entering random numbers into the unlocking code hole thingy and get mine unlocked.. just like the bobbypin in a master lock
I just had to install xposed and we're working again, should have never happened in the first place though!
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
So yours is unlocked.. that makes a big difference
I got the code from the chinese middle-man back when it was available, but now it's not possible. I have the standard Moto X, not DE.
