Waterproof case - Galaxy S6 Edge Accessories

Hey guys,
Did anybody purchase a waterproof case for the device? Lifeproof hasn't come out yet with their product, and I'm not sure how safe the cheap brands over eBay are... Any suggestions?

I highly recommend this product. I'm so please andby the pictures I was able to capture while in the case! I never expected that part! I only wanted it to keep my phone safe while kayaking but that was a great bonus. I will include pictures I was able to take while kayaking using the case.

What's the difference between that and a ziplock bag?
I would love an actual case with waterproofing, but I imagine the curved screen makes that hard to produce.

Anyone try the new Lifeproof FRE for the Galaxy S6 on an edge? I'm looking for a waterproof case as well.
I saw this get decent reviews on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Waterproof-EA...390&sr=1-8&keywords=galaxy+s6+edge+waterproof

Are these cases 100% safe? Will it still work for like 15min underwater?

Just curious, when you use the case how do you turn off your screen? I see there is no access to the power or volume buttons...

http://www.lovemeicases.com/love-mei-powerful-bumper-for-galaxy-s6-edge/
This is the one I'm going to buy. It is water resistant, you still can't use your phone underwater, but it is very durable and it is perfect for my needs (cycling)
By the way, lifeproof fre should fit in s6 edge since our phone is smaller than flat s6.

I would avoid that case entirely. It's a piece of pot metal junk. I wasted 25 bucks on it.

How?? It's the only thing negative I have to turn the screen down and hope it turns off I also use the power saving mode on that reduces the time that the screen is turned on. And reduces the processor speed so doesn't get hot inside of the case.

It might fit but that doesn't mean it'll retain it's waterproofness. The whole point of getting that case would be for the water tight seal... Man with every passing day I regret "upgrading" from my galaxy s5. This phone might be sexier but it's definitely 1 step forward, 10 steps backwards.

I had found this galaxy s6 waterproof case from Casetastic Shop
Glad with it, because it is protective and not bulky :good:

Lifeproof ruined my Galaxy S4 so I won't recommend you using their product .
****ty product + brilliant marketing

Why do you need a water proof case? I put my phone inside my bag or locker before I go into water/sea.

anyone had any luck getting hold of a waterproof/submersible screen for the s6 edge?
I used to have a Seidio for my S3 and it worked sooo well underwater, it sucks they did not make one for the s6 edge.

I am going to purchase Eonfine waterproof S6 case or Comeproof case.

I would like to share my experience,I am a outdoor cycling addict and i had been looking for a really waterproof case protecting my galaxy S6 against water, googling how to pick a waterproof phone case,I found a pretty useful blog at blog.onu-mall filled with tons of useful publications including how to pick the quality phone case, tracking the blog,i was surprised by a online shop with huge selections of various affordable cool galaxy S6 case, i bought a really fashionable outdoor sports waterproof case at onu-mall.com/outdoor-sports-waterproof-case-bike-mount-holder-for-samsung-galaxy-s6-s6-edge.html for Samsung Galaxy S6,i am so impressed with solid, robust case which is lined to protect bars and reduce vibration and designed to withstand daily use and protect against wet / damp weathe featuring my unique logo, press button release means the case to be completely removed from the handlebar mount at the touch of a button, a great security feature, i am so happy getting the awesome item and would like to share the online store named ONU-MALL ONLINE STORE

I think they have normal case, but then dont make a good waterproof.

Are cases really necessary for the Note 2? Share your experience

Hi all
I just ordered a Note 2 and, by all the comments on cases around here, I wonder if I should hurry to also get a case.
But the point is: is it really necessary?
- A case makes this big phone even bulkier.
- A case can compromise ports access, external audio quality and the gps/nfc/... receptions
- A good case can cost a lot of money
- I won't find a case around the corner (at least, here in Brazil). I must buy it online, maybe pay for shipping and wait for like a month for it to come to me.
Hey, I don't want to be critical to the ones who feel important to use a case. Just want to start some discussion here
My point of view:
I'm retiring an old Motorola Defy. It has never used any kind of case or screen protector and its condition is quite good. It is always in my pocket (a lot of times sharing the space with a bunch of keys) and it has fallen to the ground some times, from like the pocket height for instance.
I know the Note 2 is a different phone, so thats the point of the question. I've never had another Samsung phone, so I may not have the right idea about the durability of it.
So, I'm looking forward to your thoughts and experiences on using (or not using) protective cases for the Note 2.
I would prefer not to have one, but I would mostly get one if this really happens that Samsung did a fragile phone and it is important to get external protection.
100% need a case. I got my note 2 weeks ago and bought a genuine Samsung case which is skim anyway. Protects the screen and back from scratches. Plus no case makes it slippery and one drop will mean destroyed phone. Good luck mate!

Hi Brayden87, thanks for the reply.
I've seen the samsung case on the Note 1. It really is slim.
It actually is so slim I wonder it really does protect the phone. Would you say it can make the difference upon a drop?
This is one I would like to get... probably easier to find too.
For the love of god get a case. I have a cover for that it a back plate with a leather flap that goes over the screen, and a screen protector. My wife has a full case for hers.
I dropped my. Screen smashed. She drops hers a few times not one scratch.
After I get a DIY new screen off amazon. Im buying am otter box. (Rogers send broken screens to samsung and costs $280. Or a DIY is only $16)

Hi plugsmustard.
Very interesting experience. It seems that this phone is really more fragile than my Defy. I don't doubt that, it is so much larger and thinner, it looks like it may brake easily. Its just that Samsung should be salling a phone that is fairly resistant to the day-to-day misshapenings...
But these otterbox are very expensive and would have to find a retailer that ships to Brazil. Can I trust Ebay sellers?
Isn't it too bulky?
What are the least requirements for a good protective case?
Note 2 size is big so I do not want case for it. Only a carbon back cover for better handling and protect camera. When bezel is scratched, I replace it for 5$. Perfect way for me .

You can purchase knock-off Otterbox cases from eBay, as well as others such as the Griffin Survivor case (fake, but still provides great protection) Casemate Tough and the Urban Armor Gear Note 2 case, etc.
Above-mentioned cases have been thoroughly reviewed by the one and only Vectron, and are viewable here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192333
I got the body glove tpu... slim and sexy. Dropped my phone about 4ft high and didn't get any damage. Of course could be just luck. Phone is big and slick without a case. I would get a slim tpu type of case if you are worried about bulk. It gives a little more protection than naked.

For the love of all that is good and holy, get a case. And you don't need to go crazy buying an expensive one or waiting forever for a HK distributor. I own a bunch of cases because I love to swap 'em out, but my go-to case (and one of the least expensive cases I've bought is the Duzign Sentinel from from eBay that I got for $7.00 from a seller named senyx. The auctions are non-stop and I often see them ending at the opening bid of $7.00, like when I got mine. Shipping is free and the seller is in CA, so you get it quickly:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Duzign-Sent...t=US_Cell_Phone_PDA_Cases&hash=item20d25bad89
It's been discussed on other threads, but this one has a cool H.R. Giger alien look to it, offers awesome protection, and it has, in my opinion, the best TPU inner layer of any case (it's got a nice thick lip to protect the screen of your Note 2 in case of an unlucky fall). Heck the TPU is a great case by itself, and the outer shell comes with a kickstand for horizontal viewing. the Sentinel is identical to the Cruzer Lite Spi-Force case which sells for about $20. Just don't get the black/white as the white does get dirty pretty quickly. Mine is black on black and besides my UAG and bamboo cases, it easily gets the most compliments.
That is my .02 . . . hope it helps.
Not that it's particularly delicate, but it is particularly expensive.
If you don't buy a case, I expect the first bit of damage to trigger a new thread "Scratched by $600 phone! Damn!"
Hi everybody.
Thanks for all the opinions. These Duzign Sentinel do seem quite robust and not that bulky. The looks are quite odd (comparing to the original sober looks of the phone) but are not that bad...
That is the kind of price I would pay without feeling that I am paying a lot to have a bulkier phone.
I wont bother much if the bezel gets scratched. My main concern is the screen integrity.
I do have one year warranty (which I do not know if covers external damage :/) and, if something happen, I could always go DIY to try to fix it. The biggest problem would be the phone become useless for weeks :/
I do agree that it is important to feel safer with such expensive phone.
At the other hand, is hard to believe that Samsung, which is leading against Apple in such quality fight, still delivers such a fragile gadget and even dont provide a reasonable protection option as an accessory. That is very awkward.
Case-mate Tough seems very nice and is found at US$ 10.99 on Amazon. Too bad it doesn't ship to Brazil.

Haha . . so true. I know it's dorky, but I remember my grandmother always telling me: "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Well, in this case, a $10 case is worth a $100 deductible.

Actually cheaper through Case-Mate because shipping is free if you have Amazon Prime. This other seller requires a $3.99 surcharge. Still, $14.64 is a good deal. Returns or problems would probably be handled much better through original retailer, as well.

Good question. I had the flip case but it sucks and I dropped my phone twice and got two nice dents. I ordered a simple case for like 5 bucks just so the back doesn't feel slippery and what not. I do not use a screen protector, it'll be fine.
I bought the seidio active case and a glass screen protector before I even bought the note ii. This is a very expensive phone, I wouldn't use it and not buy some kind of protection. Seidio has an updated case call surface case but it didn't work with the glass screen protector cause the inside hard case would rub against the screen protector and push it up.The active case work great it's very slim and has a holster. Well long story short, I dropped my phone many times and nothing has broke or cracked. My job is physically demanding and its easy to bump or drop. Alot of my coworkers has cracked screens or has broken there phone.

I think you're confused with another case, I have the protective cover+ and it's probably 2-3mm thick. Adds barely any thickness to the note 2 and looks awesome. Cost me $30. I didn't want a big case and this one is perfect for me. Covers everything you want covered.

Very interesting indeed. And very nice looking bumper btw. This metallic bumper wouldn`t interfere on the device antennas?
I will consider these as well... I wonder how they compare to full body cases such as Duzign Sentinel, Speck Candyshell or Case-mate Tough.
I didn't feel like I needed a case at all. Till I dropped it. Twice. The rear cover went flying and so did the battery. Phone held up flawlessly, but i didn't like the flying parts. So I bought a cute Incipio case from androidcentral.com

I have no G4 at the moment.. Just want to buy one. The availability of a waterproof case makes the difference. Lifeproof planned to build one for s6.. But right now g4 is my favorite buy.
I suppose at this point you need to look for a universal case such as this one http://www.amazon.com/JOTO-Universa...Motorola/dp/B00LBK7OSY/ref=zg_bs_9375358011_1
Up to 30 meters and fits phones up to 6 inch diagonal - if it fits the iPhone 6+, it'll fit the G4
There's tons of them on Amazon but that one looks like it's the bestseller with a very good rating.
I would like a lifeproof-like one

If you don't want to spend $100, Tanga sells universal velcro pouches. I capsized a canoe last weekend and it saved my phone. They are cheap but they work and for that price, you don't care if you lose them. At 2 for $9, you really can't go wrong.

I have the Joto pouch linked in this thread for my G4. The transparent window fits the G4 size perfectly. It is thick enough that you could put in a few credit cards and cash or key. Now the bad part is that the touch screen works well as long as the bag is dry. As soon as you go underwater or if the bag is really wet, the touch screen is mostly unresponsive. You might get lucky and get a few touches in but definitely no swiping action. I could use the camera by double tap the down volume button and take pics using the down volume button, but that's about it. If you are looking to check your email under water, forget about it. Oh and because you cannot tap to focus, the underwater pictures do not come out that great. Here is a pic of my pool vacuum in action.
This universal waterproof case http://www.witrigs.com/universal-waterproof-case-for-smart-phone-acid-blue is what i am using. And it's cheap now.

Hard to find a waterproof case for G4,otterbox and arozell Tank could be a solution, yet from my experience both are not water-resistant instead waterproof, the difference is waterproof support diving into water and water resistance is for unexpected water such as rainwater and water splashing, so firstly you have to get to make it clear that what exactly your request.
Besides, lovemei powerful could be another solution for water-resistant,yet the love mei case would be a little bit akward with its triple protective design, some one may think there comes a bulky, yet its performance on protection is outstanding if you don't care the additional bulky as well as tiny mobile signal missing.
Arozell Tank: http://www.arozell.com/lg-g4-tank-armor/

Has anyone found something. I routinely check around each payday but after going through tons of "waterproof" cases which are actually "water resistant" and not waterproof... I'm not looking for a bag, but a case...

Waterproof Case that lets me use all the buttons.

I am looking around for a waterproof case that I can use all the buttons.. I would like a headphone jack use, but I don't see that happening. (I'll end up using a wireless speaker I guess)
Any good ones, Amazon links for example would be nice! I saw a few, some say three is no button use, not sure how that works.

Look up ghostek cases.. They have it for s7. Looking to use it when I go on my tropical vacation.
Define waterproof. Are you diving with this thing?
If not and you are just planning on using it in a pool then any case would work since its IP68 rated with Samsung claiming its waterproof up to 3M.

theres the love mei case and the lifeproof case for our s7 edge. both are on amazon or ebay. i prefer amazon for faster shipping and i have prime, but those are most likely the 2 best cases in my opinion right now. and i prefer the lifeproof case over the love mei because i had the mei case for my regular s6 and it was extremely huge and the home button never lined up evenly. sorry for any spelling errors im on my phone and hope this helps.

Most waterproof case companies are not making them for teh S7e becuase it takes away from the edge screen functionality. Trust me I looked for a while, the ones I found did not provide any better protection than the S7e already comes with (ip68)> however I picked up one of these Joto cases (bags) that fit any phone a few years back and it works great. (https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Wa...id=1466018052&sr=8-2&keywords=joto+phone+case).
I bring my phone in the lake with me, in pools etc never had any issues even with my note 4. I know it doesn't look super cool but its very effective and super cheap. Also having the string attached really helps when you need to tie it up to your trunks when in the water.

Waterproof Case?

I loved my lifeproof for my Galaxy s4, I know they dont have a case for the note 5 but are there any other companies who make a good waterproof case?
I think Ghostek makes the highest-rated waterproof one for the Note 5. Supcase makes a resistant one, but I've seen mixed reviews about how effective it is.
Ghostek 2.0, check Amazon. It's got decent reviews.
Had a ghostek for my note 4. Can't say "test for waterproof" enough times.

I have the Ghostek 2.0 for my Note 5. It's slim, adds a bit of weight, not very grippy... I recommend using the provided lanyard. I dropped mine and it landed just right and bent/ripped some of the film on the back cover. They replaced the whole case for free; didn't even need the old/damaged one back. It's definitely the best case I've owned. Never tested the waterproof-ness.
I'm going to Miami soon so ordered this case. Defai tly gonna test it out before I go but I got high hopes for it. http://m.ebay.com/itm/252081334034
So I got it. Tested with paper towel, passed with flying colors. Small problem though is its much hard to type under water but possbile

Well when I take caseless note 5 and note 3 together that's how much thicker it is
Looks weird does it feels bulky as it sees?

Hi, How good is this case? Also were you able to access all buttons, Fingerprint scanner, and S-pen?

Yes, but screen is less sensitivity, and barely senstive under water. I dont use finger print scanner, the s pen is accessable like the charger port. They are sealed with 2 rubber things that you can pull out if need be, but once you pull them out, be sure to put back because its and opening for water
I thought about getting this ghostek atomic waterproof 2.0 case. Im getting bored of my spigen slim armor case.

I know this is an old thread but I just picked up a redpepper case from eBay. It's like LifeProof only less expensive

Is it water proof
It says it is and i wattertested the case prior to putting the phone in but don't have the balls to test it with the phone in it! The case is for a "what if" situation only for me

Waterproof Case

What is the best waterproof case, for taking the phone into the shower. Also, is the S-pen water resistant?
Why bother? Ive had my phone in the pool and shower since I got it. As long as you blow the water out the charging port and speaker, it'll be fine. Everything is pretty much waterproof. Enjoy it.
Phone is IP68, and I have had it submerged already. S pen is also IP68, no problems there.

For most days the phone will be just fine getting wet. Even at the pool.
However there are still day even ip68 won't be enough.
I recommend just getting one of the below options. By far the best way to keep the device dry even if it's in the water for days.
Mpow Universal Waterproof Case, IPX8 Waterproof Phone Pouch Dry Bag for iPhone8/7/7plus/6s/6/6s plus Samsung galaxy s8/s7 LG V20 Google Pixel HTC10 (Clear 2-Pack) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01I1430WQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Gs5YzbASDWPPM
Universal Waterproof Case, JOTO CellPhone Dry Bag Pouch for Apple iPhone 7/7 Plus/6S/6/6S Plus/SE/5S, Samsung Galaxy S8/S8 Plus/Note 6 5 4, Google Pixel HTC LG Sony MOTO up to 6.0" -Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LBK7OSY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_vv5YzbMJA5ZTZ
I have literally taken a phone Scooba diving with the joto.
It was awesome got some cool pics
For Scuba diving or beach use in general use a case. Thinking of it, why use this phone Scuba diving anyway? I'd have to step it up to my GoPro Hero in that case.
Try ghostek. It has a good waterproof case. I'm waiting on mine. Will update you guys about how it is.

I have this one. I haven't tried it out other than the sink.
Samsung Note 8 Waterproof Case, SixQu Transparent Protective Cover Full Body Shockproof Case for Galaxy Note 8 (6.3inch) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0753BMBBJ/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_2EfZzbXPVPDY8
LIfeproof cases, but Lifeproof seems to be part of the Apple fan club with limited Samsung cases and then they refer you to Otterbox which are not "water proof".
I bought this and its on slow boat crossing the seas.... be here oct3-19...

I am glad it is ip68 BUT on the beach, I am more worried of the salt water and/or salt water dried sand!!!!
Thanks for the replies. For those saying to just take the phone in the water and it'll be fine. I think it's best not to risk it, especially since warrenty doesnt cover it and I make limited funds per month and live paycheque to paycheque.

I just my case in a few days ago and LOVE IT... however, with that comment, it would be my daily case but I cannot due to the biggest problem. SPen is tough to get out and they give you a tool to do so.
with that I had a redpepper case on my note 3 and it had no spen port so I give these guys props for putting it there and hope they look at my review I put on amazon (being approved hopefully) and think of how to do it differently.
my review I put up was..
I do not usually write reviews; however, this product needs one!
I have never had a case on my note 3, just a screen protector film and it shows... But I have always had a redpepper note 3 waterproof case which was 3 stars at best...
now this case...
I have not had a case on my note 8 and we do go to the beach a lot so even though this phone is ip68 - I still need a case.
Pro's
Case style - Very slim - feels nice in the hands, looks great, great pen response on cover, great finger response with cover getting edge app to slide out. contoured shape around the glass is very nice, back is done very nice with it also being contoured in a bit so you can lay phone down and know camera/etc will not lay on desk.
sound is clear playing videos with all ports closed
charging port open - even using micro usb to micro c - fits great and no issues
headphone port - OEM headphones plugged in nicely and no issues
volume up/down and power button (I don't use Bixby) - very well made, nice feel, and feel comfortable using
material - case appears to be well made soft plastic (opposed to the redpepper which is hard and constantly chips pieces off)
Con's
fingerprint - tough to get working but it works and have to maneuver finger around a few times.
SPen - my biggest gripe and why this case cannot be my daily and will only be used at the beach, a tool supplied to get the pen out. you CANNOT get the pen out no matter what you do without a tool of some sort thus a 4 star.
conclusion:
Would be my daily case if it wasn't for the required tool to get the SPen out. My wife made a comment asking me if there is a holder for the tool and I said ummm no and I don't want to need to use a tool but the more I think about it... I would be fine if there was a little sleeve or something for that tool to slide into. My note 3 had a redpepper case for just the beach and there is NO pen port, so I give these guys credit for having the port but there needs to be some easier accessibility. Maybe the pen clips into the rubber before pushing in or something... just an idea...
I'm going to do a youtube video on this (never done one of those either) as this case deserves it. I am HIGHLY impressed! with it and the cost as it is close to what I would expect from a lifeproof case and I have bought many for my wifes iphones over the years.

^^^ Correction... after searching amazon for Note 8 waterproof case, I have found that there are others and most are pretty much the same.
few even had the same tool, ughhhh BUT I noticed one that had no tool and said to use the rubber plug (which had a groove in it) to retrieve the SPen.
I then decided to try that with mine and guess what IT WORKS!!!!! only thing is the SPen sits there, and not "clicked" into its spot. Doesn't seem to be an issue yet but time will tell.
Update. Got my freebies in.. wireless charging not working. Crap. Back to no case

I am interested in buying Joto case but in the description it is written that it is for phones upto 6 inches which means it can't be used with Note8 right?

I have a rhinoshield crashguard on my Note8 which is a hassle to remove. By superthin case, I assume you meant something like the clear plastic back one from Samsung with almost no thickness addition on any side. In that case, does your Note8 barely fit the Joto or do you have a little bit more space left on top/bottom?

I have a carbon fiber Pitaka case it's only a few hairs thick. It's a tight fit at the top for it already anything thicker may be an issue, but I believe there are similar products to Joto that could fit the phone.
Universal Waterproof Case, MoKo Dry Bag Pouch for iPad Mini 4/3/2, Samsung Tab 5/4/3, Galaxy Note 8, Tab S2/Tab E/Tab A 8.0, LG G Pad III 8.0, Google Nexus 7(FHD) & More Up to 8.3" - BLACK https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ID1HB0A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_3roEAbRQ7A21J

Thank you. The problem is that I am from India and many of these are not available on Amazon India and don't even ship here. Thank you for your suggestions though.
