Will there be any Devs working to unlock the BL and build ROM's? - Xperia Z4/Z3+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just wondering, as it is not clear to me that the BL is unlocked and no one seems to be working on it yet. I Know that it has not been released in the US yet, but just wondering if the Xperia line gets much Dev love, since I have not owned a Sony phone.
thanks,

Motorola releasing bootloader unlock-tool

So it starts again, the bootloader issue..
Motorola has released a tool for unlocking the bootloader of certain devices. Milestone is not one of them yet.
Do you think Motorola will support the Milestone in the near future?
Or maybe this tool can somehow be exploited to unlock more Motorola devices? Any thoughts?
This is the thread about it.
No chance. I believe alsmost none from the existing lineup, especially those from 2011 and backwards (as our Milestone) will get their bootloader unlocked.
Motorola sucks in the development/openess department.
Since I got my Xperia Arc I can see what are the real pros of an unlocked bootloader.
If it wasn't for nadlabak (mainly) we would still have a FroYo (and a buggy one...) ROM flashed into our devices.
Milestone !? I don't think so.

Xperia Z from T-Mobile

Ok, so my question is what if I unlock my phone? Is it just the same as De-branding my Galaxy S?
I debranded my Galaxy S because it was branded by Tmobile. I wanted to get the latest android versions, so I had to do that. (Tmobile NL always comes with the phone updates after half a year if not a year)
So now my question is, is unlocking the bootloader the same as de-branding? When the 4.2 update comes I would love to have it and not wait 3 years.
Thank you for reading, hope someone can give me advice or tips!
Unlocking the bootloader does not de-brand your phone, nor does making it simlock free.
I have a simlock free Xperia Z with a unlocked boot loader and also use T-mobile, but the T-mobile bootsplash is still there.
Iam pretty sure there must be ways to remove the splash when unlocked, but just unlocking itself will not de-brand it.
Lets hope someone can tell us how to get rid of this.
Kind regards, Stefan.

Ah oke, that clears some up. Now i just have to find a way to de-brand it. I hate the Tmobile brand. Just because they are just so late with their updates.... I buy a new phone and want to keep up-to-date.... Not get out-dated
To get rid of the T-Mobile stuff you just need to flash an unbranded firmware to your phone. Check the forums for how to do all that.

That makes sense. Do you think it will slow down my phone or something like that? Or lower the battery life?
Iam kinda sure it will not slow down the phone.
However I will wait for 4.2 to release and will then flash a unbranded firmware.
If not to many bugs are reported in 4.2 that is, else I will stay on 4.1 a little longer and perhaps look for a way to de-brand it then.
Kind regards, Stefan.

Good point, else we can install and install every week all our apps. :| I already found a solution for me so I dont need to break any Boot loaders: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2190936 Hope it works and that I can use a Stoch 4.2 firmware from sony then!

Odd way to unlock bell xperia z or t-mobile xperia z bootloader?

Hey guys,
I own both the bell version of the xperia z, and the T-Mobile version. I ONLY want to use them as glorified tablets. Basically like the Ipod touch version of the iPhone, I want to use them unactivated. For me, its all about customibility and I really want to unlock the bootloader. I know neither of these can be unlocked, but in theory, if i wrote the software of the global unlockable versions (c6602/c6603) which DO allow for unlocked bootloader, would I be able to do it? I know signal would be screwy with the radios, but i dont care since thats irrelevant to me. Any help would be great, thanks guys.

Short answer: Never going to happen.
So its impossible to write c6602/3 software to it? Longer answer would be nice : P

Sorry, you can't unlock the bootloader if a device says: "bootloader unlock allowed: no" which is if you have a branded device. If you try it, you'd better throw it away.
If u can root everything is possible. As long as there's someone who provide geeky solutions
And under your situation u don't need flash different rom as there's a way to install recovery without unlocked bootloader in rooted phone.

hey, thanks a ton for the responses guys! So, is there ANY possible way I can get cyanogenmod installed on either my c6616 or c6606? (Bell and t-mobile)w
I don't have your phones so I cannot guaranty but you can try my method.
I got a c6603 from vodafone, and use ota to update to 4.3.
Since the 4.3 cannot root and I dont want unlock bl. so I use these steps
1. downgrade phone by flashtool to a version which can be rooted.
2. root
3. install recovery in locked BL:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...cked-bootloader-cwm-recovery-6-0-2-8-t2187363
4. Choose whatever rom you like and flash it.
DONE!
You cannot use custom kernels on a locked bootloader, so you cannot run CM, PA, AOSP etc.
Stock based roms only. There's no way around it.

Awesome tips guys! Got recovery working and its all good- just ONE last thing:
are there any vanilla style roms out there like cyanogen that are stock based? I just want my pure android with some nice customizable features, no kernel updates or anything. Can you suggest any?

[Q] So, no KitKat, now what?

So, my lovely Xperia T has now reached it's sell by date. What to do now?
What possibilities is there to extend the life of this wonderful phone?
I have the problem that my model is the James Bond version and the boot loader is not unlockable so my options are limited.
What do you guys suggest, is it still possible to get a custom ROM installed or for that matter any kitkat based ROM?
I know that on Xperia S now it's possible to install CM with the bootloader still locked.
Maybe the same method could work with our T.
We need a skilled guy with the will to try...

Harsh reality of Vivo z1 pro development!

Surely a lot of guys including me are waiting for Vivo z1 pro development to kick off, but the harsh truth is that currently the future of Vivo z1 pro's android development looks bleak.
Why? you ask.
Because right now Vivo does not support bootloader Unlocking. NO. NIET. NEE. NAHI.
Now, when realme devices were new they were the same, no bootloader unlock support, but there was a demand for it and after sometime they allowed unlocking bootloader.
But surprisingly, I haven't seen a single demand for bootloader Unlocking of Vivo z1 pro neither from the users nor the YouTubers or bloggers.
Check xda for other vivo phones, they all have little or no development, all because of a locked bootloader from vivo.
So guys we need to make some noise to get bootloader unlock support for z1 pro,if we want development for z1 pro.
:good:

I have no idea actually.
But, bombarding tech YouTubers and bloggers with comments related to this and asking them to make some noise may help and might be a good place to start.

Tell me how can I help you guys to request vivo to provide bootloader unlock tools??
Guys, there's an option called OEM unlocking in the settings. This allows the bootloader to be unlocked. I hope this is what you are looking for.
