[Q] Lenovo K3 Note (not rooted): Primary Microphone not working - K3 Note Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys,
I have just received a brand new Lenovo K3 Note from Gearbest.com.
Everything works but the most important function of a cell phone...phone calls!
Although I can hear the person from the other side of the call, that person cannot hear me.
I have tried the standard call app, hangout phone as well and have no success.
When I plug an earpiece with integrated mic, it works.
I have tried to use different microphone app and none would detect anything.
Before I claim a return authorization, anything else I should try?
Thanks in advance,
J-P

Well I've purchased 5 phones and one of them came with this exact problem!

No fix found....refunded and reordered new unit

I'm also having the same problem
Dear friends,
I'm also having the same problem with microphone.
May be it is manufacturing defect after rebooted the phone it's work properly.
But this is temporary solution because after 1 or 2 days the problem comes again & again.
Please help me and give me the permanent solution.
Thanks in Advance.............

[Q] In-call sound only through bluetooth

I can only make phonecalls through my bluetooth headset. If I switch bluetooth of and try to make a phonecall with the receiver, speakerphone or cable headset there is no sound. The cable headset and speaker plays all other sounds ok and when testing the receiver with *#0*# it produces sound. I do not have any obscure call recording software or like installed. Running stock rom.
Any suggestions?
Hi,
I am having the same problem.did you find any solution to this bug?

This seems to be exactly the same issue that I am having and that was described on this older thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544300 [In call sound problem]
did you guys had this problem when the device was not rooted? becasue untill I rooted mine everything was OK. after root probelm occured. I am going to stock original rom and unroot mine a I wonder if it makes any sense.. I hope it does because I am getting desperate... If that will not work I will returnt go on warranty.
I did a repair through KIES and that fixed it for a few weeks but then it returned. My device wasn't rooted. Now I'm waiting for a good stock ROM without Samsung's bloatware to flash to.

did you try to contact samsung support ? or warranty? This phone is otherwise useless for me without its basic functionality.. if it has this bug also on stock ROM that its Samsung problem hm?
I've had my S4A since July, rooted it within a week and have not had a single problem with it. I'm on MF3 if that makes a difference.
strange.. I cannot find such ROM here.. http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9295

I have had the problem both unrooted and rooted. Although it sometimes disappeared after a hard reset, it soon came back after installing a few apps and changing some settings, none of which have in principle anything to do with phone functionality. One option would be to make a call after each change but it would be a very long process...
sorry matelko was signed by accident my computer under my account.
Hi,
so now running on stock ROM and still the same problem. I can make only make bluetooth calls. This phone is driving me crazy... can you please share with me the MF3 ROm so that I can test it?
Thank you
Yesterday upgraded ro Cyanogenmod 4.3... The phone worked perfect..a nd in the morning again the same ****... Phone is quiet.. It is possible to make bt headseat calls only.... I do no know what to do...anybody any idea before I finally decide to solve this as warranty claim?
Thanx
So, yesterday I have tried to put sim card from another provider to check if it is not a provider fault...and guess what.. the phone works normally with another providers sim card. I contacted my procider and reported this problem and now I am waiting for their feedback... hopefully they will find out something to make it work..

Hi, does anybody has a Fix for this issue? It is getting really annoying and happening to a bunch of people in active S4 and the normal S4. After a new flash or sometimes randomly it works perfectly and then suddenly it goes silent on calls again.
Please help
Exactly the same problem. No problem until I started using my helmet's bluetooth. Only thing that works is to switch off bluetooth after using, restart phone and then about the 3rd 4th call, sound comes back on again. Comes and goes after that.

Same problem with sound. Was from the very beginning with stock rom, also now with CM 10.2.
It's kinda annoying to have a phone without a proper call functionality..
Same problem
Has anyone found a fix to this?
I've been having this for about two weeks. and I've looked in almost every forum and could not a solution that works.
I've done everything from hard reset, factory reset, not installing viber/skype, tried using soundabout, change the network settings, and probably a few more suggested solutions that just doesn't seem to work.
any help is much appreciated.

Mic not working periodically

So my microphone seems to not be activated for periods of time, and I can't figure out what causes it, or really even how to fix it.
For example, today at work I was able to make calls for several hours, but after getting off I made a couple more calls that failed because the other party couldn't hear me.
Sometimes I can start Google Now voice search with a 'google', but after I make one voice entry, I can't make another one, and the next time I manually press the voice key it won't pick up any sounds at all. Even Shazam has problems with the mic sometimes, showing no equalizer bars whatsoever.
I thought this was a hardware issue because I thought it started one day (about the 3rd day I'd had it) after I dunked the phone in the sink, but in the diagnostics app the mic seems to do fine.
Is anyone else having this issue? It's really starting to get on my nerves. I guess a factory reset is in order?
I'm also having trouble finding any consolidated info on this issue; threads seem to trail off without any clear solutions.
hey,
im having some problems withthe mic as well, the other party cannot here me here and there and Ive read some forums that it might be software. also there was a solution on installing different home program and not use xperias Launcher. so hope this will help till KIT KAT is here

I'm having the same issue. Didn't see an answer here so I looked on the Sony product support website, and there a few suggestions were made:
- use a factory SIM, not a scissor-cut SIM card
- update the firmware to the latest version
- turn off "Microphone noise suppression."
link to the sonymobile website where I got this info - http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z1/Microphone-issue-Xperia-Z1/m-p/450153/highlight/true#M6457
Time will tell if this worked for me. Let me know if you found a solution, or if this worked for you?

Good chance here to solve the problem. You can perform a factory reset after update as well or even now, this process sometime fix small issues.
is there any way to change from primary mic to make secondary mic use in calls? Like some build.prop tweak?

In build.prob there is no way to do that. To switch them I think you have to hack the kernel. Hacking kernel can be done on Custom one and for all this you have to have Unlocked Bootloader. Who can hack a kernel, just a Master.
Thanks for answer. I am on CM11 right now and custom kernel so it can be made if someone know what to change in kernel

SM-N920k - Not hearing sounds during calls

So I bought my Note 5 N920K off eBay. The first few days it worked fine. I would say the first few weeks. Then one Saturday I was on a call and suddenly I could hear the person on the other end. I tried to call back but when the call connected, there was still no sound. I toed another phone and completed the call. I then tried to call VM as a test call. I could hear the welcome note in the first 5 seconds and then it just went quiet. I tried this again and the same results, I tried the SIM card in another phone and it worked fine. I tried another SIM card in the note and same problem. I know of someone who had a Galaxy S5 G906k with similar issues but it went away eventually. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to if this may be a HW or a SW problem?
Any assistance would help. Let me know if any additional info is required to assist.
i believe somehow related to kernel problem. I got the same situation here. It will be solved by flash stock firmware via odin.
you can find stock firmware in below link:

Galaxt S5 Mini echo feadback

I recentlt purchased a Samsung Galaxy S5 mini phone. My callers are telling me they heard an echo of their voice. Basically, it is fine on my end, but people I called would hear themselves twice. Does anyone know if there is a fix for this? I removed my case protector, but did not help. I removed the phone`s back cover, did not help. I chnaged sim card, did not help. I used someone elses sim card on a different network provider, did not help.
Can anyone please help me

Did you try using the speakerphone or earbuds that came with it? Sometimes I have the same problem using another phone and it think it is related to the carrier and not the phone itself. But if it happens all the time I'd think its some kind of hardwaew issue.

Yes I did try the speakerphone and earbuds that came with it. There was no echo feed back. But this is not a solution for me. I returned my first phone, and got a second one with the same issue. I can`t believe that all S5 minis have this issue . there must be a fix out there somewhere.
I've never had this problem with my S5 mini, mine is a G800H. But I think I've read some complaints about this issue before. Try search for "disable second mic" or something like this... Some models have two mics to cancel noise and sometimes it may cause problems...
