Will you be upgrading to the Note 5 from the note 4? - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Personally I don't need a larger battery or a glass back. I do need my removable batter and micro SD slot.
Samsung is just trying to pad it's bottom line now. They're not selling like they used to do to with their premium prices. Now they're trying to make it up by changing premium prices for memory. Too bad Samsung screwed itself when they went after their own American team when they had that ultra successful marketing campaign.

You're not supposed to post things multiple times.
Interesting article, though.

This right here from OP "quoted" article:
...mean no more expandable storage or removable battery.

Yup, note5...what makes it a note is the stylus.

I'll go for it, what other choices are there

I really want it to have sd support. If not, Idk. If it doesn't, then I'm lost. I don't like any other phones. I only like the Note series. **** you Samsung.

Lol  I don't think any of us are *****ing about the "stylus". In fact we expect and want that feature to stay.
The part that is ruining it for many of us (at least myself), is the part where they are leaning towards a permanent battery and NO microSD. :cyclops:

Will you upgrade your Note 4 to a Note 8? What? There's not a Note 8? Well there's no Note 5 either...

Exactly. I chose the note 4 edge over the s6 with those specific features in mind. I've been buying Samsung for a few generations now, but if the Note 5 is anything like the one in the article, I'll have to look at the next LG G-series.

Not unless they give me an SD card slot. I will definitely be going else where. Maybe lg. I kinda miss my g3.

I feel like this accessory can alleviate many storage hungry users, myself included. Rumors that they could be getting rid of the removable battery is a huge downside for me as I've purchased Samsung's OEM battery charger for the past two generations of the Note line. It's just way too nice to go from 0% to 100% instantly.

I would love to carry that around with me at all time. Problem solved. I'm sold.

I'm honestly done with Samsung. I upgraded to a Galaxy Note 4 from a Nexus 5, and I miss my Nexus 5. The stock rom on the Note 4 is crap, and the only AOSP I've tried (CM12.1) is missing features that stock Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 Android has (namely, HD Voice, WiFi calling, and call recording.)
The worst part of all is that I'm stuck with a faulty USB port that doesn't charge reliably, and Samsung refuses to fix it because I rooted my phone. Meanwhile, Google doesn't care if you root your phone.
**** Samsung, never buying another Samsung phone again.

As much as the stylus is somewhat useful to me... I can do without it. SD card and removable battery=no deal. I'll grab the G4 or Gwhatever is next. Screw this bullsh!t...

If it didn't have the glass back, I would upgrade.
It looks like either wait for the Note 6, or get an iPhone 6+. Yes, yes, I know. But I've used a few of them and they are really nice phones. But if the Note 5 is what the article says, then no - I will not upgrade to it.
Glass back. Stupid.

Ummm....actually...this is kind of awkward...but yeah, there is a Note 8. Its a downgrade though.
.........................
Nope, not carrying around attachments with me to access storage. Its a money grab from Samsung now. MSD cards are now coming out in 200gb and 512gb sizes. Before we know it 128gb cards will be hitting $40 (they're already as low as $80). You mean to tell me you would rather pay more for a set amount of storage determined by a manufacture and streaming cloud services? Wake up!
S6 sales aren't panning out as expected and Samsung has been miss firing since the S5 flopped and with the S6 series they keep on flooding the market with variation after variation. At some point Samsung will have to self-center and get back to what made them a hit in the first place.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 vs Galaxy Note 3

Covered Design, Features, What was removed as well as added and a Speed Test. Is it worth the jump from the Note 3 to the Note 4?
After using the Note 3 as my main device for a year then getting the Note 4, I like to say that there is a difference and it feels refreshed. With the 1440p Display, New Touch Wiz Ui, and a few new features. Now I did notice that there are somethings missing from the Note 4 that the Note 3 had. There are also something that have been moved and changed, like the Pen Window feature is now used with the Multi-Window feature on the Note 4. Spec wise there is not a massive push but its still a beast of a phone. Watch the Full comparison below and let me know what you think. Is it worth the jump from the Note 3 to the Note 4?
Mod Edit: closed as a duplicate.
I did not think it would be at first, but my phone whore personality came out.
The display, camera, video, metal, and going no contract lm there.
With tomorrow being the day, I doubt I will sleep much tonight. LOL
Dang being a tech freak sucks and is expensive!
Kicking Deuce on the Beast, Note 3
Am sticking with my 3. It has massive Dev support, so it's rooted and pretty much hacked to the max. I have a 128gb sd card in their, so have games on the sd card, music everything. I think had Samsung probably added more ram then maybe they would have had my money. I will however probably get the 4 for my wife though.

Most modern mid end to high end smartphones can handle 128GB MicroSDs with no problem.
I plan on getting a 128GB MicroSD for my Note 4
Btw, thanks OP for the info, it will help a lot of people. I came from a Galaxy S4 so the Note 4 is a huge jump for me loving this beast!
So far I miss few things from Note 3.
1. Cannot add app shortcuts at the bottom of lock screen. It is right now fixed to default camera app
2. There was "edit after capture", no longer there, have to swype down notification and click 'edit'
3. No software "Air Command" shortcuts available in the market yet
4. Qi receivers are hell expensive
5. Most irritating : no longer SD write access (searching root threads) -> Edit: Just rooted using chainfire's method, tripped KNOX, whatever!! I never had to root Note 3. Google deserves kick in the ass for disabling SD write.

Definately worth the upgrade if you can swallow the price (I buy sim free as don't want to be tied into a 2yr contract thanks!). I upgraded from the Note 3 and so many aspects have improved. The camera, battery, style and s pen are all better.
Is it worth the money? Compared to an IP6 definately. Compared to a OnePlus One which is under half the price....well the screen on that isn't as good - I mean sensitivity not pixels. The N4 is so much more complete but whether its worth the additional £350 is down to you personally.
If you have the Note 3 and don't have the cash to upgrade - don't worry about it. Not worth breaking the bank over! The N3 is a fine device and not far off as powerful.
The N4 has some very nice enhancements though, and you'll not be disappointed if you do buy it. Every note model I've owned (all of them) have impressed. I've tried other phones and always end up back on the note.

Will Samsung take out expandable storage & removable battery in the Note 5?

Now that the S6 is out and the whole world saw Samsung take out expandable storage & removable battery in the S6 in favor of design, does anyone think they will do this to the Note 5 as well?
I certainly hope not because this will be the last Samsung I will buy ever again.
If they do it would be like buying a nexus
I think they will drop both, but I hope not.

I hope not, too.
But, if the Note line is supposed to be for power users and the S line for normal users, then they should be smart and not ditch the expandable storage and removable battery.
The Note series isn't been pushed for its design aspects as much as its feature set. The Note series is also very business orientated and because of that the removable battery is a seriously important feature. bringing an extra battery is a must for most business users who are away from the office a lot or travel and such. There would be no point in removing the MicroSD slot if they still have a removable battery,
Now of course Samsung don't want to brand the Note series that way, but ultimately a large phone such as the Note would see no benefit from a premium design such as the S6 as the general population aren't going to go for phones much bigger than the S6 and as such removing features for such a thing would be counter productive.
At least I hope so. If Samsung remove the MicroSD slot from the Note series, I will stick with the Note 4 for as long as possible and then move to another company. Samsung can scream all of the nonsense they what, copying Apple's greed for storage strangled devices is nothing short of pathetic. If your going that route, then 64GB better be the standard. Why bother advertising 2k display here, 4K camera there, if people don't have the storage to deal with higher size content.
I hope Samsung thinks in the same way for Note 5. Otherwise I will be moving to iPhone 6S plus

Yeah and for one I'd be seriously tempted to choose the Nexus. The N6 is a pretty sweet phone, the only reason I don't have one is that it's not as good as the Note 4. Removable battery and micro sd slot being 2/3 of the reasons I have the Note 4 instead.
If they do then bye ? Samsung

Yup, and of course feedback. The thing is though that samsung has the ability to do both, but in order to improve their margins they have gone the Apple route, a route which I think they will stay on as long as it brings in greater profits, which is going to be the case due to the S6 actually being quite awesome in comparison to the rest of the phones out there.
Note 5 will keep both because its designed for power users on the go. The S6 is more for the mainstream crowed like Iphones sheeple.
If they do it's bye bye Samsung for me too after Captivate, S3, Note 2, Note 4.
If s6 sales fail then they wont.
I know I wont buy a pjone without microsd.
I think Samsung will first see how people react to the S6 once on the market and base their decision around that for their next phones (including Note 5). However, I hate to say that I think non-removable batteries and nonexpandible storage are the future (as much as I hate it). Google is really encouraging these kinds of features and many companies may follow in their footsteps.
I read somewhere a day ago that the 32GB S6 will have expandible storage. The slot is under a flap cover that's on the top of the phone instead of under the cover. There's another dlot on the sidr of the phone for the sim. That was not officially confirmed though, and I think the people discussing it were only basing it on the photos and hands-on footages. But they all see one distinct slot, a distinct flap covering something, and a micro USB port on the phone. I'd confirm it myself, but I can't tell based on images, what version of the S6 I'm looking at.

I have a feeling the S6 will actually be a big hit with consumers. It's visually appealing and has great specs. Most mainstream users don't swap out batteries or load up large SD cards. With 64GB versions to be sold I expect the S6 will do very well, although I'm hoping that Samsung leaves the SD card and replaceable battery in the Note 5. That would help distinguish their mainstream S6 from the power-user Note model. As it stood before, the Note was simply a more powerful version of the S6 with an S-Pen..
S6 pre orders have already smashed records and launch is sill a few weeks away. Like it or not, these sales figures will have an influence on Samsung's design team going forward. In other words don't be surprised if the Note 5 has a solid glass or possibly metal back.
It would be OK with me if they made sure higher storage options are available and not to hard to find. Android is making it tough for OEMs to have ext storage. I know I needed root to access mine the way I wanted to.
Either way I am not worried because the note 4 is the last device for awhile.
http://phandroid.com/2015/03/09/galaxy-s6-pre-orders/
According to Korea Times, Samsung has confirmed that a combined 20 million+ units of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge have been pre-ordered. More specifically, the Samsung Galaxy S6 commands an overwhelming majority of that number with 15 million units, while the Edge variant accounts for about 5 million. Well, if you don’t recall, Apple’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus pre-sales were pegged at a whopping 4 million.

I'm not going to even bother do that. I will just not buy it.
That should send the message.
So if note 5 has no external storage and no removable battery then no one that want these features should buy it.
Then I bet note 6 will have whatever we want.
If they removed either, I would not by their product and have to look for an alternative from one of their competitors.

Two things? It is changed but the functionality of printing based on the fingerprint is only software related. There's not extra hardware needed for that function.

"Exynos Octacore, 4GB of ram, thiner than our Note 4, camera with better low light pictures, streaming to YouTube with just the camera app (no livestream or ustream) better stylus pen, premium design, LTEcat"
Can you count the amount of people that will actually need to use all these? Answer is yes because it's going to be a small number. I bought the Note series because of the pen. Know how often I use it? maybe 4 times a year. I got it because of my job at the time and as it turns out, I barely need to use it for my job now.
Exynos means no AOSP so you're stuck with Samsung's BS of a software. Only good thing about TW when it comes to Note is the Pen software!
4GB of Ram doesn't mean crap. Note 4 has 3GB of Ram and it's fast. Heck my wifes G2 has only 2GB and it still kicks ass. Antutu doesn't mean ****!!!
'Thiner' so that it can break? And since when does a thinner phone classify as a upgraded feature? Really?! iSheep stuff dude.
Better low light pictures. I can't even remember the last time I decided to try and take the perfect photo at night. Oh man....oh man...not again...
Streaming to Youtube....Oh you mean that's an upgrade because they changed some code in the camera app? Guess what, it's going to be ported!
Better Stylus....I'll give you that but that still doesn't justify getting it just for the fact that the Stylus is more like a pen now. Sorry
Premium Design...........LMFAO!!! That's the difference between buying a 911 GT and a 911 GT2. You're paying extra money because of the word premium. iSheep mentality. Samsung is actually succeeding in that department.
LTEcat9: Because our current speed of LTE Networks is totally going to utilize this feature right?
Look....the phone looks good. Actually I take that back. It looks like it needs to be in a bubble because it might break just looking at it. I know that's why you put it in a case. Why buy a pretty phone to dumb it down with a case when you bought it for the looks?!
And maybe you're into Specs; I'm not sure, but seriously. Are you really looking at those specs and trying to justify spending $799+ on that phone? You're better off just saying you like to have the newest thing when it comes out so that you have it.
If I was being a **** I'm sorry but I'm really tired of seeing all the force justified answers for why the Note 5 is an "upgrade."
I feel as though people are just taking what they are given because they aren't given anything other options so they just roll with the punches.
I see that other posters have stated "yes, samsung comes to xda and reads your post to give you what you want." I understand that they don't and thankfully they don't because if they really gave us what we want they would go bankrupt in a heartbeat. However, the Note 5 just doesn't make sense. They took away so many things that people use every single day. You wouldn't believe the amount of people that tell me they are so thankful that I recommended to them to get a phone with an SDCard to save their pictures and such because their previous phone didn't have it and they were thinking their stuff was getting backed up to the cloud and it wasn't.
blah...I'm off this..

It's always a good idea to buy a Note 4, provided that you absolutely need the Spen. If you don't, then maybe you should look for something else.
But if you intend to use the Spen extensively, then Note 4 looks even better than the Note 5. For a relatively affordable price, you get replaceable battery, memory slot and you can install a Note 5 rom, making it absolutely the same in the software sector. The Note 5 has a much more capable hardware on paper, but probably you won't notice that in everyday use and in most situtations.
The deciding factor is the Spen. Do you need it? If yes, get it. If you don't, look for something else.

I am little confused with note4 and moto x style...I was using note 2 and not 3 before then I shifted to one plus 2.
I thougt without sd card I will be able to manage but I guess its quite difficult thats why I want to buy a phone with sd card. Moto x style is good one with lowr price also but its not having OIS and camera is not so good in low light conditions.
How is note 4 camera. Do you guys recommend to buy note 4?
Note 4 is the best phone I have ever owned it's still competing with today's flagship especially with root and unlocked bootloader the battery is amazing camera is high quality and I have never ran out of space with a 128gb SD card and 32gb on board memory I would suggest if you get the note 4 get the snapdragon variant. But like other have said if you don't use the spen you can get a on paper better phone with the same price range, but that note 4 amoled screen is very hard to compare to.

removable battery,
sd card
infra red
3 GB ram
CAMERA (OIS + 16MB)
I am looking for good screen (5.5 to 5.7) 3GB RAM, good camera,sd card support.
Do you know any phone better than note4 in above features.
Post no. #4 is the kind of post why i get angry for the sheer stupidity!
Note 4 at 30k is still the best phone out there, end of story. One Plus 2 nice, but only the camera is better. I myself was confused between X Style and Note 4, ended up with the latter, glad I did. Motorola would win in terms of software only, that's it. For Note 4 you only compromise with the software, TW (it's not that bad anyway), and get quite a lot of other this which other phones can't even dream about providing.
Go for it.

You won't find a more full featured phone in that price range that will compare with a note 4, and the spen is just a topping on the cake that makes it that much more useful. There are a bunch of amazing Roms that ported the note 5 features and cleaned up touchwiz to the point where it actually is a great Ui the only phone I would think of getting instead of a note 4 is the new nexus.

thanks guys,
I am little confused with note4 and moto x style...I was using note 2 and not 3 before then I shifted to one plus 2.

You have mentioned nothing about the Spen. You also had Note 2 and 3, but it was easy for you to shift to OPT.
I think it's obvious that you do not have a great need for the most stand out feature of the Notes. In that case, you should probably go for another phone, there are so many good phones out there these days.

Yaaa so? It may be garbage to you I respect what that device is going to offer as i said its my pov i can speak whatever i want. I didnt tell him to trust me i said google it. You can get even better devices. Note 4 surely is great one I myself use note 4 but after what sammy did with 6.0.1 i think note 4 users should use a ported rom to do justice with the hardware. So in comparison to that there are many devices. Htc one me camera just go and look at the camera of that device. Hence my point of view. If you didnt like it then talk respectfully.

Yah man I'm surprised you even mentioned the iPhone in that post that was pretty sad to bring up iPhone in a XDA forum. And I'm pretty sure the YU is a Indian company I'm not sure the band's will work here or at least have issues in the USA or Europe.

Hahaha yupp iPhone sucks i say it too but as i said to the other guy i gave him the choices on price range. And yes YU is an Indian company but I saw people around me using it and it is good enough i mean given the liberty to do anything with the device, few tweaks would make it a good one. And the model was different its going to launch in this week with flagship specs. So he can keep it to compare the models you know.

Don't go for note 4. I've been using for 1 and a half year and I regret it. I don't want to change to note 5 and wait for another year for note 6 or note 7 edge (whatever they want to call it).
P's. It's a Korean company and not an us, europe or whatever your country coming from.
To OP, just go to the shop and try both. Better to try yourself then asking other people.
I just picked up a used N901F for a ludicrously cheap price and I'm going to give it a week or so to see how it compares to my N9005 with daily use before I decide if I keep it or not. The biggest issue will be battery life as the Note 3 rocked in that department! I travel a lot so I need battery life and stability so I'm a little hesitant to go down the custom ROM route (didn't have too many issues with my HTC HD2 in that respect) so I've rooted it stuck TWRP and xposed on, installed most of my old apps and gsam battery monitor to keep an eye on what's going on with the battery.
This is my first time using MM - any apps/features you guys recommend either specifically on the Note 4 or even MM in general?
You can go for Note 4, eyes closed, great phone.
Seriously, that's a very funny post, Yu and other phones compared with Samsung, and that too a Galaxy Note phone. I live in India too, and I too do see ghatiya (rubbish) phones being used nowadays, LeEco, Lyf, Xioami etc., those could never be compared with a Samsung or brands like that at first place! Also just by seeing a phone, that too used by other people, you can't conclude a decision, let alone recommending it to someone!!! Weird!
Note4life only note 6 next!!!

I'd honestly say that the Note 4 is a excellent device even by today's standards. I've seen some retailers sell it at a much lower price than when I purchased mine last year.

What's your next device? Note 7 or something else?

I'm assuming a lot of you are like me, and have had the Note 4 close to 2 years now- close to paid for... wondering if anyone is considering getting a Note 7 or something else and why?
I was all excited about upgrading to a Note 7 but the limited research I've done based on the S7 is the bootloader will probably be locked meaning no root, no roms, etc... so now I'm not sure if I just stick it out a while long with my Note 4 or look elsewhere for another device? (nexus ###?)
Comments appreciated.

It's a pain in the butt shopping for where to go from the Note 4. Where, oh where, is it's successor? I so hate the idea of a non-replaceable battery. Maybe, if it wouldn't be too grueling to take my next "sealed" phone apart to replace the dang thing. The next big screen Nexus? Arrrgggghhhhhh!
Well if I didn't just post a lengthy reply to a similar question in the Intl. forum! (In fact I did; this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/general/moving-to-flagship-t3404126 my ramblings are the first post on page 4 ) Bullet points:
* I think the Note 4 is (still, 2 years in) a great device and I plan on keeping mine after making my last few payments. It will be a super fancy universal IR remote... ...among other things Definitely no shortage of ways to repurpose an old/extra Android device.
* I really hope the upcoming Nexus has expandable storage... I could see that happening this year with Google's "adoptable storage" (and other OEM's failing to... adopt it ) It's equally possible that I just really want that to happen. Either way, if it does, the larger screen version will be my next phone.
* The Note 7 looks beastly and if it doesn't have a locked bootloader I might go for it. The thing is, I'd really like to avoid buying anything from TMO aside from service... ya know, "vote with my wallet" against their abysmally late updates. I have a "new" Tab S2 TMO variant that's now the only model of that tablet that hasn't been updated to MM yet, making it as well as my N4 dead last (including other carriers) to receive the 10 month old OS. No way I can throw down up front for a $$$ N7 though, and I did do a couple of exchanges with the TMO insurance that were super easy, so bootloader unlocked = maybe, locked = not. a. chance. (not that I'd ever pay money for a "computer" that locks me out from self-administration, but particularly since I trust TMO 0% wrt updates and may need to handle that myself.)
* Option 3 = ??? Hoping to find the following: strong/friendly development community, expandable storage, >= 5.5" quality display, standard headphone port (IMO it's ridiculous that dropping this is becoming "a thing" w/o a superior replacement), and "good" battery life. Hopefully not asking too much in 2016, sure was in 2015.
Currently leaning towards a Nexus I suppose... not really in any rush to move on from the N4. Oh and definitely agree @steven.m - sealed battery = planned obsolescence but (clearly) any phone without a completely impractical metal unibody is simply not "PREMIUM" enough for... something something... of today! Note that a removable battery isn't even on my "wish list"... I was trying to make it realistic
I'll keep this N4 until it's dead. Then I'll most likely look at Nexus, HTC or Moto devices. About the only thing I'll miss is the WiFi calling.

Xiaomi Mi Max for me
Xiaomi Mi Max 6.5 inches of Android goodness, plus removable battery and sd card support. Samsung has iphoned their way out of my hands. If I wanted a iphone I would have bought a iphone, but such is life. Wife has s7 edge and she keeps telling me it is the worst phone she has ever owned. With that in house review why would I buy a Note 7?

I'll have to look that model up- I don't know Xiaomi, but maybe I will get to know them. :highfive:
Edit: Hmmm.... love the size of the screen, but not QHD.... and battery not removable. Close, but I dunno.

Yes, and the capacity can be battery capacity can be maximised this way since they don't have to make provisions for the battery to be removed.
I think I'm done with Samsung for now. Waiting for the Note 4 MM update this long and the fact that they basically abandoned the Galaxy Tab Pro six months after they released it have really turned me off.
I think I'll be trying one of the 'upstart' manufacturers. I've been considering the Huawei Mate line for a while now, but their software has always been a drawback (but at least they update it). Now I've been reading that they are making software and their EMUI skin a priority as they attempt to break into the US/NA market. I look forward to seeing what they've got. Also, T-Mobile specific versions of any phone seem to not get nearly as much development, which is understandable. But I think I'll get an unlocked international phone next time.
I will be keeping my Note 4 (just like I still have my Note 3) for use with the virtual reality headset that I will be getting. It still has enough processing power and a very good screen resolution for that type of activity.
I'm thinking about the zenfone 3 ultra 6.8inch monster lol
The note 7 isn't on my radar, I too am think of going with a nexus if it has a memory card slot but all of this won't be for a while as I just traded in my s7 ( which was part of bogo ) and got my note 4 back that I jumped about 6 months ago. I missed it so much I will keep it for ever, even after its paid off. I also have the s7 edge which just became rootable so I might play with it for a while but it's my work phone and I have until November before I can jump again but it won't be a Sammy phone. I don't really like the s7 edge as those edges are a real nightmare unless you have a case on it you will have accidental touches that will drive you crazy. I'll hold on to my note 4 until next year and then start looking.
I didn't realize the s7 had been rooted

I have the Honor 5x which is from Huawei also., bought it a few months to test, for $200 premium looking, metal casing, 2 sim slots and external sd... but no removable battery and we are supposed to get MM any day now..
but yes I think I want a google phone, but it has to have external sd, maybe I can deal with non removable battery, but who knows. and they better start lowering prices of phones, they would sell more and sell every year selling at about $500.. that's just me thinking out load.. :silly:
because I have my father in law had the S2 very outdated and giving him problems.., so off went my note 3 which was my sons, so he plays with it,
I started with HTC, had almost every single phone till the M7, then moved to Samsung from S2, S3, Note 2, 3, 4.. and on the Notes had 2 of each, for me and my wife.. also with the M7.. I have paid to much on phones and then they don't take care of the updates which the dev do it better than Samsung is very disappointing since manufacturing them is really under $200 coming from the take downs of the devices.. way to much profit, then they expect us, to buy new phones every year...
try to return a new phone u buy in T-Mobile, they offer u half of less after 3 or 4 months then they sell it back as certified phones for double than what they paid getting it back from you... really sucks..
remember a phone is for making phone calls......
I have a pc, laptop,
2 tablets Samsung as well, and they stop with the updates after a year. u get lucky maybe give it a year 2 or 3 months...
super surprised about this MM update on our phones giving that we are almost on our 2 year.. very surprised, guess they are trying to say we will support them longer... remember Note 4 came with KitKat, then Lollipop, and now MM... wow....
darn even apple updates the phones till the older phones can't except the updates to slowing it down or not enough space left..
opps rambling, let me stop... haha
This is a good question I guess it depends on if note 7 comes with 820 or something better I won't buy a 820 phone there are cheaper options with same processor. Im thinking Nexus. But if note 7 has 4000mah battery it may get my money. My last 2 Samsung phones have had bad gps

I am getting to the point where I can no longer justify spending $650-700 on a phone. You're right, there are so many decent options now for half the price.
I'm waiting to see what the Nexus phone phones are like this year. I'm hoping they'll have a nice premium phone this year. The 6P was a nice start. HTC may kick it up another notch. Rumors are that Google wants a phone that will directly compete with the iPhone. Well see if that happens. I've had only Samsung smartphones (Galaxy S, Note 2, note 4, galaxy light). It's time for something different
Jeez the note 7 is going to be almost 1000.

Agreed... but then again, do I have enough time to monkey around with ROMs again? Realistically - no. If I get an Android device again, I'm just going to have to get the latest Nexus. I'm tired of TW and trying to hack things to make them behave like I want them to...( I'm looking at you NFC icon ).
