[Q] [XT1053] Moto Skip Dots no longer work after update to Lollipop? - Moto X Q&A

Hello!
I have a few Moto Skip NFC stickers that unlock the phone when tapped. These worked great in KitKat, but now in Lollipop, no longer work. They just say "NFC Tag collected" with the ID of the tag. Has anyone else had this experience?

You have to add them as trusted devices

Secure lock screen and moto x features

I'm thinking of getting a moto x on Monday to replace my aging galaxy nexus on Verizon (and still keep my unlimited data for a while longer). Can someone describe how features like active notifications and the always on hotword detection work when using pattern/pin lock? Can you still view the active notifications and just enter your pattern/pin when swiping to go directly to the notification? Thanks.

Yes on the active notifications bit. They work like normal but still require a pattern after you swipe. I have barely used the hotword, but it does seem to work just fine.

When using the pin/password lock, accessing the touchless control is still available but to get the results, you have unlock the device.

[Q] Cyanogenmod Moto x Sprint/Ting but banner says verizon

So I have a Moto x that I bought from ting. I unlocked the bootloader through the Motorola website. Then I flashed a nightly Cyanogenmod 11 room through TWRP custom recovery. All works well through ting. But the unlock screen and notification tray say Verizon wireless.
Anything I can do about That?
Also does anyone know when active notifications or touches or control might be added? Or can I add them myself?

What's ting? And good luck with seeing any of the Moto-specific apps getting added to CM. Grab them off the Play Store, I have no idea of they'll work or not.

The play store tells me they are not compatible with my device. Ting is an mvno carrier that uses Sprints network. When you call them during normal business hours a live human answers the phone, and the pricing is quite good. I highly recommend them.
Maybe I will go back to stock Android 4.4 and simply have root. Now I have to figure out how to do that.

Can you link me to the cyanogen version you used please?

Surely....... http://download.cyanogenmod.org/get/jenkins/51605/cm-11-20131217-EXPERIMENTAL-xt1060.zip
That is the direct link to the download. It works great on my phone. But I miss the two features that make the moto x the moto x. Without the active notifications and touchless control I may as well get a Nexus 5.

Cm gives less customization than stock ROM does , you still need exposed and gravity box, also cm gives you sound issues and camera issues

Yeah after a few days I can't recommend doing what I did. I'm gonna go back to stock rooted. I have no data and my handset doesn't work through the normal earpiece (speaker phone only)

[Q] [F340K] How to activate Knock Code

Hi,
I see the Knock Code feature working on a Flex in this video: w ww.lowyat.net/tag/lg-g-flex-knock-code-demo When I went to activate it in my Flex F340K Korean version, this feature is missing. Anybody knows how can I activate it?, maybe in a hidden menu or something?.
Thank you!.

Sorry but I still not found the option, I don't wNt to activate the double tap for lock and unlock the screen. I'm searching for knock code unlock, with this option you must push the screen in some zone like a pattern to unlock. As seen in the video linked in my first post.
Maybe is a future option that will be included in a firmware update?.
WTF !! we don't have that man...but looks very cool

After research about knock Code the video appears to be a preview of a next comming enhacement, the knock code feature is available now in G2 mini and will be added with a firmware update in some models like Flex,G2,G2 pro.... No ETA yet.
Appears to be a very cool option.

I think that phone will be locked but when you lock your phone with a pattern or code you must activate the screen and then insert the code or pattern to unlock. with Knock code you will insert a push pattern with the screen off and will activate screen and unlock phone in a single step.

Mechanism to trigger hotspot with NFC

Is anyone aware of a way in which one could have WiFi hotspot being turned as a result of a NFC tag being recognised?

Check out Trigger on the play store, it has that ability though I didn't try it myself.

The notes for the app say "Lollipop users - Mobile Hotspot is*not* working. Google has made breaking changes in Lollipop and it won't work even with root access. We're looking in to it currently". Perhaps there's another option available?

Moto Assist replacement?

Kinda miss the thing - Android Marshmallow dumped thr feature, and was thinking what could replace the location based settings.
