Question regarding case fitting - Serious - Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo Accessories

Ok, so I have the BN 64GB version of the turbo. Now, its obvious that the case options for this nylon version of this phone are limited compared to the other versions. My question is can I buy an OEM normal battery cover for my phone and ditch the nylon version and be able to use all of the cases that wouldn't normally fit with the stock cover on?

Nothing?

Yes, but not sure why you would want to do that. The ballistic nylon Quarks are really ballistic nylon + kevlar underneath. I own two of them. Whereas the "kevlar" verson is kevlar only. I prefer the double layer protection.
There are some ballistic nylon case options. I have several for me and my wife.

This one below is minimalist and snaps onto the back to protect the ballistic nylon back:

The red for ballistic nylon is not currently available, only the black. The black is what I currently have on my phone. The red I bought for my wife, but she likes the top "snap on" case better.
Look carefully at the description when ordering, to make sure you are getting the ballistic nylon version.

I also bought the Tech21 case from the Verizon store, as I loved that on my Nexus 5. But it seriously made my Quark phone too bulky. I ditched it for the black Diztronic case.

There's others I've bought but can't find them right now. Search for XT1225 cases (<click link and go through all the pages). Those are ballistic nylon only and fit the Droid Turbo ballistic nylon version.

Well the benefits to the ballistic nylon version are added protection, yes. However, the BN versions aesthetic qualities dnt really appeal to me after the thing keeps slipping out of my hands or sliding off of surfaces. It's been in a case for the majority of its life. And if I can't see the texture of the back then it doesn't really matter if I have the less exciting kevlar version. At least with the kevlar version I have no restrictions when it comes to case shopping. That's my reasoning.

I keep mine in a case too, as I saw reports about the ballistic nylon fraying. I want to keep it pristine for maximum re-sale value.
I have half a dozen cases that fit the ballistic nylon version, including a clear one.

Point is plenty are available if you know how to search. Here's some more! (for Droid Turbo Ballistic Nylon only)
While those I found are for the Droid Turbo Ballistic Nylon, since the XT1225 (sibling Quark) only comes in ballistic nylon, then if you also search for that model you know it will fit! If you search for Droid Turbo, you have to make sure it specifically says it's for the ballistic nylon version. If it doesn't say that, don't take a chance.
______
The snap-on the back (half case) my wife has on her phone gives the slimmest profile.
For my phone, the black Diztronic I'm using gives the best compromise of protection + slim profile.
My 2nd choice is the clear one.
The Tech21 gave the best protection but added too much bulk.

I have only found a few case options that are not available for ballistic nylon. I have the Tech21 case mentioned above and the Otterbox commuter and both fit fine. I also just picked up a CimoX last night http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Ballistic-Cimo-Premium-Flexible/dp/B00QPAQ1SE or was it a Vena http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-DROID-Turbo-Case-Protection/dp/B00T3O67RO/

Otterbox Commuter vs Ballistic SG

Waiting for my Sprint LG G2 to ship, I've been comparing cases. Looking for something thats not too bulky, provides good drop protection, and is grippy. And I keep coming back to two cases, the Otterbox Commuter and the Ballistic SG. Here is a to-scale comparison I threw together (as size accurate as I could manage):

Based on the available images and not actually handling them myself:
The two cases seem to be about the same size at their widest and tallest. Though the Ballistic is a bit thinner around the center grip area. (Note: Ballistic's stock image seems to be based on an iPhone, so I could be off on the size comparison)
The buttons on the Otterbox are definitely wider, but more pronounced on the Ballistic, so it's hard to tell which might be easier to use.
They both retail for about $35, though I've seen the Ballistic with more availability and cheaper reseller prices.
The Otterbox appears to have port covers on the bottom for the USB port and headphone jack.
Both companies offer a 1 Year Warranty
I'm actually tempted to buy both when I get my phone so I can compare and return the one I don't like for a refund.
I'd like to find out which case grips better in the hand and holds on to the phone more tightly.
Anyone with either case, please chime in with your opinions. Thanks!
EDIT: Ballistic got back to me with the exact dimensions on the Ballistic SG:
SG – SG1227 – LG G2
Width – 78.92mm (3.11in)
Height – 145.58mm (5.73in)
Thickness – 17.03mm (0.67in)
I'm not a fan of the silicone that's use on the ballistics case.

I do like how the ballistic covers all four edges of the screen

I have the ballistics case for vz. Pros, makes the back buttons easier to find with a finger. Phone feels very safe. Its got a nice look to it. Cons, it's pretty big. With the small bezel of the g2, touching the sides of the screen can be a pain. And ya, lint sticks to the silicone parts as well as harder to slide in a pocket.
Over all I'm happy with it but if I can get a thinner profile one that covers the back buttons, I'll prob get that

I too am using the ballistics case for the rugged good looks. aesthetically the only other case i would consider is the LG G2 Slimpack.
The only issues I have with the ballistic is the easily attracted lint and the mickey mouse looking 'ears', but the benefit is that the
So it seems the Ballistic gets a lot of complaints about being too "sticky" in the pocket and attracting lint. Haven't seen any complaints like that about the Otterbox.
I have the ballistic case and it works really well. It doesn't cover the corners of-the screen. The only thing I wish it had was a built-in screen protector. I have no issue with the "stickiness. " All in all I am really pleased with the case.
I hate the case that have a hole in a back of the cover bc all the dirt will stick in the hole I prefer Otterbox better than anything

It's for the extra noise canceling microphone that one of the models have (the sprint one if I remeber correctly)
cover it with some hot glue if you don't have the G2 with the extra microphone
I'm getting for the Ballistic SG Maxx case and holster. I wont have to worry about lint and it has port covers.:good:

I almost wonder if the big issue why they say it will not work with the Verizon Phone is because of the wireless charging?? I will see how the Otter Box Defender Series fits when it comes next week.
I have the Otterbox commuter and I can comfirm that the rubber is not sticky. I was also looking at the ballistic happy i didnt go with it now.My only gripe is the otterbox hard shell is a too little slick for one handed operation imo

Its my heavy duty case for sure. It does add ALOT of bulk to the phone in terms of size and weight. But its worth it to me. Those drops were all waist height and I'm 6'2"

Case for white Sprint Lg G2

I have been searching and there seems to be varying opinions on what cases will fit the Sprint version.
Getting the white G2 for the wife and she wants a white slim case for it. i was going to go with the Ringke slim (http://www.amazon.com/RINGKE-PERFECT-Premium-International-Package/dp/B00EA1XMC8) but it says it only fits the International version. Does anyone have this case for the Sprint version?
Any other slim, white cases out there for the Sprint version, hopefully around $10?
The tudia ultraslim, Diztronic and Poetic Palette dont come in white as far as i can tell, but the Tudia might be an option. Anyone have this?
Thanks

From reading and witnessing first hand, the slim cases are great for feel but the drop protection they actually provide the device is pretty horrible.
If your wife is sure handed and not prone to having the case fall off her lap while getting out of the car or having it drop on tile or go running or working out with it etc...
Then, they are some really nice ones out there, but with the $ 10 price limit it is going to be tough.
I'm using a Nillikin white case on my Sprint G2. Not bad, though not a whole lot of protection. It fits well, is slim, and I do like the texture on the back though. The stock material is way too slippery.
They come out to about $7-8 on ebay after shipping, and includes a screen protector.

I got a generic clear tpu case on eBay for under 5 bux. Fits the phone perfectly and looks gorgeous on my white (sprint) version. Dropped my phone from a few feet onto the concrete with this case and it bounced and was OK.

Yes, it's higher than the screen by a very thin sliver. Great for a desk or table, terrible if you drop it on asphalt face down.
The sprint version is the same size as the T-Mobile version (d801) if that helps searching more.

Dont get the Ringke, I have one and I'm about to buy another case. It is slim, but the fit is too tight where sometimes the phone will actually slip out of the case on one side. Also using a car mount will sometimes force the case loose too. I'm getting the Diztronic case for the LG and be done with all these case. I'm also getting the Imagnet mount and hopefully my search for the perfect case will be over.

Decent case for the Turbo?

So have any of you found any decent cases for the Turbo?
I've been using mine naked for now, because the one they had at Verizon was just too damned bulky.
I'm pretty confident about the nylon back being OK. Ideally I'd just like a bumper-sttle rubberised case that only goes around the edges.
Any thoughts?
I picked up 3 different cases to give them a hands on test.
Moto Flip Case
High Gloss Silicon
Incipio Dualpro
So far the flip case sucks unless you are using your phone like a text book. For people who like folios its an amazing case!
Incipio is too thick for my liking and makes the screen feel very sunk into the phone. Also makes it very hard to drag apps to the edge of the screen when moving them if you know what I mean.
So far the best case in my opinion happens to be the cheapest case. If you want slim and close-to-naked feel with good grip and reliable impact protection I would get the Verizon High Gloss Silicon case.

Thanks for the repky!
Too bad that high gloss silicon case covers the back. Would have been perfect as just a bumper around the edges.
I have found a case mate bumper plus shell, but the shell seems optional (not sure). Too bad it is clear. Would have liked it in black.
Praying for a Diztronic TPU in the near future.
https://tpu-cases.com/
I am pretty careful with my phones and will be using Turbo Ballistic Nylon mostly naked since it just looks too good. Should I find myself doing anything beyond the ordinary I will use a TPU as I do not want to add anymore bulk.
Think about the effort Motorola put into making this phone not need a case. I literally only put a case on mine for piece of mind. If my brain allowed for it I would use this thing naked. Feels perfect and looks to good.

Im liking it naked too. The nylon fiber backing is a bit slippery, but not too bad.
Im thinking the plastic corners are susceptible to damage during a pavement drop though, which is why a bumper type case would be ideal IMHO.

I have the same silicon case and I love it so far. Also have a tempered glass screen protector for when I drop it.
I have the Tech21 Impactology Classic Mesh for Droid Turbo - Smokey. It's a really good, quality feeling case, and being slightly opaque still lets you see the phone. It's a nice case, but not very slim, and it makes the phone wider with its side impact bumpers. I will probably be getting one of the frosted tpu cases when they come out next week.
This is my first phone since my Blackberry Curve, back in the days before android, that isn't black. I got the red, and I wanna see it, lol. I just dot trust myself to do that. The last phone I did that with had a shattered screen, and none of my phones since then have shared the same fate.
I bought the Lifeproof case and had instant buyer's remorse. I had the Lifeproof case for the iPhone 4S and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately this case isn't as snug, adding bulk to an already bulky phone. The case makes the bottom buttons harder to push. I am going to give it to the end of the week to see if my feeling's change. I really like how secure it feels in my hands versus holding the phone without a case, and the piece of mind it gives me goes a long way as well.
Otterbox commuter. I drop my phone a lot, so I need a bigger case, but not so big that I can't put the phone in my pocket. I had one on my 1st gen moto x and it survived every drop. Fits the ballistic nylon model perfectly. It sucks I have to cover up the ballistic nylon, but I'd rather not have to pay for a new device if I drop it.

Where did you get the tempered glass protector?
I got mine at verizon while I was buying my phone. I'm not sure what brand it is.
I like mine naked, because of the cool nylon back. But as others have said, if they came out with a 'bumper guard' type of protection (i.e. went just around the edges) I'd buy that in a flash...
What I am really looking for, though, is a pouch-style holster case. Something I can just slide my Turbo in and out with ease; but it is protected when in the pouch. Right now I am using my old Cellet Bergamo leather case that I used with my Droid Razr, which I really do like. The problem with the Turbo is that it's taller than the Razr so it doesn't quite fit vertically into the case (the top sticks out).
I've been looking around for another similar case (slightly larger) but it almost seems they don't exist. Anyone else know of something similar?

The otterbox commuter is on my G4 now (plastic back). Super beefy corners and the port protector flaps close perfectly. No problems in my jeans pockets with the extra bulk. I had the commuter case on my old Nexus One and I remember thinking "these little flaps aren't going to last" but I was proven wrong and I'm buying again (after skipping otterbox on my S3). I do admit to having some leather flip case envy . . . maybe this is the phone I'll have 2 cases for.
I have few questions regarding the Otterbox Commuter, I hope that someone can answer them:
Dose the commuter case with the phone inside is wobbling when you put the phone on the table?
Dose it also have a curved shape as the phone?
Dose wireless charging working with the case?
Thanks.

Phone in the case does wobble a little bit when you put it on a table. It wobbles and settles down quickly.
The back of the commuter case does have a curve.
I have not tried wireless charging so don't know.
I have One of my G4's in the Commuter (Black/Black but I painted the gel case part Red) and the other Two G4's are in Defenders and I must say I love both of these cases. They are solid as a rock and make me feel like my devices are well protected.
Though I have been looking into more case options, both for the "wow" factor on looks and a more slimline protection option (Though the OtterBox does not add an unreasonable amount of bulk by any means, sometimes it is just nice to have that stripped down feel, like a bumper for example).
Thank you
Hope it doesnot add too much bulk or weight to G4. I am using Spigen and it's comfortable

My synergy adds bulk but the phone feels solid think htc titan. Id also prefer the ultra thin slimmed down feeling. I prefer minimal pocket scratch slight bump protectors. Still looking. Slowly building a collection as i find interesting ones.
I want to show some love for Otterbox cases, I had one on my Samsung Captivate (remember those?) and last week I finally upgraded to the G4 and my Otterbox is still holding together fairly well. Very little battle damage done to it after years of use and abuse, the rubber plug over the power/data port came off from excessive use and a six or seven year life span. I carried my phone everywhere, indoors and outdoors, used it as a music player while working in the field - dropped it many times, ran over it with lawnmowers both wheels and blades, and the worst damage done was a slight chip to the plastic that was sanded down easily. Defenders will probably outlast your phone. And I loved that with the belt clip I could flip my phone around with the screen out so I could have a clock while it was plugged in. I've got a Supcase on right now because I lack funds and it was really cheap (pricewise, not sure about quality yet) but I do plan to get another Defender for my G4 when I get some extra money to spend.
If anybody has one, can you put the phone in the belt clip and still see the screen?

Otterbox cases are some of the best protection that you can get for your smartphone. There are three available for the LG G4. Must mention that these do not work with the Leather backing. You can get more customization though the OtterBox site. There is also Free Shipping on all cases within the US.

It has been brought to my attention that your amazon links contain your personal ID and thus you get credit for the clicks.
This is against the XDA Rules
I have removed the links.
If you want to update the OP with "GENERIC" product link it is OK.
Ordered commuter blue coloured cover for G4 from Otterbox Asia at Hong Kong. Price 40 USD including shipping to India and custom duty.
Is there any special precaution while putting on this cover?

As much as I hate the bulk that Otterboxes tend to add to phones, I always buy one with a new phone for things like camping or hiking etc. where the highest protection is more important.
i had otterbox commuter too

Ballistic Nylon cases for the Moto Maxx/Moto Turbo

(reposting some stuff I wrote in the old joint "Quark" forum, now that we are separate from the Droid Turbo Quark forum.)
The ballistic nylon Quarks are really ballistic nylon + kevlar underneath. I own two of them. Whereas the "kevlar" verson is kevlar only. I prefer the double layer protection.
There are some ballistic nylon case options. I have several for me and my wife.
______
This one below is minimalist and snaps onto the back to protect the ballistic nylon back:

Bought this one below in both red and black for ballistic nylon:
Droid Turbo Ballistic Nylon Case, Diztronic Full Matte TPU Case for Motorola Droid Turbo (Fits Ballistic Nylon Version Only) - Matte Black - (TBN-FM-BLK)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RQUV18C?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00
The red for ballistic nylon is not currently available, only the black. The black is what I currently have on my phone. The red I bought for my wife, but she likes the top "snap on" case better.
Look carefully at the description when ordering, to make sure you are getting the ballistic nylon version.

This one fits, but I like the one at top for the same "look". This has a narrow front cover too.
______

DROID TURBO Ballistic Nylon Case
See here. That one comes in clear, black, purple.
Tudia also makes some excellent ones that come in black, teal, frosted clear, purple.

Bumper case ..?
I ve searched long for a bumper for this moto phone, but haven't found one yet (don't want to cover up the BN back) .. The closest one that I have found is the 'Motorola DROID Turbo Naked Tough Cases Clear' , by using only the white bumper part without the clear back case (but heard it is very loose without the back case ) ..
So if you have come across any bumper for this model, can you kindly point me to it.. I ll be more than happy to buy a quality one.. Thanks ..
I ordered the Cimo Wave case off Amazon the other day, it fits onto my Droid Turbo nicely. I'm still getting used to my phone feeling different but it feels really nice to hold. It slips into my pocket nicely and doesn't stick to it. It looks really nice on my phone and doesn't add much bulk to it at all. I highly recommend it to anyone with the Ballistic Nylon

This case above was for my wife's phone. She dropped her phone and the case cracked. Phone is fine, but she needs another case and she REALLY likes this minimal "bumper" look that snaps onto the back of the ballistic cover.
Anyway, Amazon no longer sells it, BUT I found it here if anyone else would like it:
Protective Slim Frosted Matte Hard Shell Shield Back Case Cover For Motorola MOTO MAXX XT1225
$2.10 each (right now, on sale), comes in 5 colors.

I'm getting the red again for her. And actually I ordered some spares. No telling when it will disappear!
Was duplicate of below. But I'll use this space to explain a little more.
As our phones get older bumper cases will be harder to find, especially those made by name brand manufacturers who care about quality. I initially wanted to buy another black Diztronic case for ballistic nylon Quark -- to replace what I have been using the past couple of years... But even Ditrzonic website is out of stock for that bumper case. (They still have red, but I don't want red.) I don't blame them, new phones are coming out all the time and what's the demand on a 2014 Motorola phone?
So, I found another high quality bumper case. It fits both kevlar and ballistic nylon, but especially fits ballistic nylon. And it has a clear back to show off the ballistic nylon. It's a one piece case. I HATE the two-piece cases. See below for more info.
NEW BUMPER CASE
Just bought a new case for my Quark. I was using Diztronic the past couple of years, and really liked it. It's protected my phone from all sorts of drops, and is fairly slim. BUT recently the wear on the back is showing (shiny spots, etc). So, I was going to order another... But everyone seems to be out of stock for the black Ditztronic that fits the BALLISTIC NYLON version of the Quark. Even Diztronic website is out of stock for the black ballistic version (although red case is still available for Ballistic Nylon). Although Ditzronic black is still available for the Kevlar variants, I have the Moto XT1225 which only comes in ballistic nylon.
So, started looking at alternatives and found this:
PUREGEAR SLIM SHELL BLACK/CLEAR CASE COVER FOR MOTOROLA DROID TURBO XT1254
Here's pictures from another user:
One piece bumper case. It works on ALL Quarks (not just Droid Turbo), and works especially well on ballistic nylon variant. Has black edging with a clear plastic back, so you can see the ballistic nylon.
I was skeptical that there's only ONE version -- because I've bought others that fit either kevlar-only (which I had to throw away) or ballistic nylon, but I had never seen one that fit BOTH variants. But, it fits my phone really well! The volume and power buttons are easy to press. The black edging blends very well with the frame of the phone. The clear part on the back shows the ballistic nylon fabric. I am very pleased. (There's also a totally clear version, but the one with black edging and clear back is better, in my opinion.)
Qi wireless charging still works flawlessly with this case -- which is very important to me.
I found it mentioned on the Brazilian Moto Maxx G+ website, so I started researching. Found it, and then found best prices...
Here's three places to buy it:
($6.41 with free shipping)

($6.45 with free Prime Shipping)
https://www.amazon.com/Slim-Shell-Motorola-Droid-Turbo/dp/B00QW3XAQU/ref=cm_cd_al_qh_dp_t
Amazon seems to have 3 color variants, including the Black/Clear and Clear/Clear. I think I prefer the Black/Clear as the black front blends seamlessly into my black frame. You can't even tell you have case on when looking at it from the front. With Clear front you would see the clear plastic around the frame and it doesn't really improve the look or protection in anyway. The black front would do a better job "masking" the case. I do like the clear back part.
On the Amazon site, ignore the people who say the Qi wireless doesn't work with this case. It DOES.
The Amazon listing does have some user review pictures which are great.

See my new post just above this reply. Buy the black/clear, not the clear/clear. The black/clear has a clear back but but still has black edging around the front frame and front chip/lip. It blends into the phone better.
