Lollipop update and the nagging wifi lag/issue - Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo Q&A, Help & Troublesh

For those who have downloaded the OTA Lollipop update or installed the moforoot Lollipop ROMS-Have the WIFI lag/issues been fixed?
For those who don't know what I'm talking about it seems like the Droid Turbo either doesn't play well with certain Routers or a few build dates have some sort of flaw. It causes your phone when your on wifi to intermittently stop loading whatever you were doing i.e. loading a picture, a website, etc. Then you either have to hit refresh several times for the page/picture to load or switch back to 4G. However this problem doesn't seem to effect music streaming...
Hoping this is one of the reasons it took Motorola so long to update because they were addressing this problem...

I can say that it 100% fixed this issue for me. I am one of the folks who seemed to experience this almost all the time and was eagerly waiting to see if this problem would continue to plague me after 5.1. I used moforoot and am running v1.0 of computerfreek's LP image. I haven't flashed v1.0B because I read some comments about flaky 4G/LTE reception and I live in a sort of 3G/4G fringe area. I am very pleased with my LP experience so far.

check to make sure ipv6 is turned off everywhere. ipv6 will cause these nagging issues (confirmed)

It fixed it for me as well. That was my biggest ***** about the turbo and yes I *****ed about it a lot. I have had not one problem since. And previously I tried turning IPV6 off and it made no difference. At least on the 3 routers I tried. Currently IPV6 is on and I have no issues.

For sure it is the IPv6 in your router. I had the issue with 2 phones before I was able to figure it out and the second I disable IPv6 the issues went away permanently.

In spite of the tech hype about IPv6, it's not necessary for people who use a cable/telco ISP for internet access.
And IPv6 still has several security issues for people who just have it turned on without proper protection against IPv6-based malware due to Teredo tunneling (backdoors into your system).
Should I Disable IPv6?
http://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/should-i-disable-ipv6.358189/
My home router runs a mini version of DD-WRT which does not offer IPv6 access/support, and I keep it that way on purpose. "Regular" (larger) versions of DD-WRT do offer IPv6, but you can disable it:

I have also disabled IPv6 on both my personal Windows desktops for good measure.
When I run this test, I have IPv4 only and that's how I want it, for now.
http://test-ipv6.com/

This could also be cause by dhcp leases. I have seen long wait times dor dhcp ipv4 with a bang next to wireless. I reserved the ip and issue resolved.

Well I finally made the jump and flashed from Computerfreeks's KK to his LP rom yesterday...
...and my wifi lag issues seem to have all been fixed. I forgot how fast your home wifi can be! "(insert sarcastic laugh). I didn't make any changes to my router either. So maybe that is one of the hidden reasons it took so long to get this update out.
Hope this helps some other people.

MMS Sometimes just does not download on T-Mobile

It shows a a download icon on the right, you hit and it does not nothing. Yet sometimes the pic will come through just fine.
What gives? I swapped ROMS and mms apk's
Yet my HD2 never has this issue, period.
Any suggestions?
My mms has been crap recently as well. Some come through some do not. Was not sure if it was a network or custom rom thing. I guess now I know.
Sent from the moon
I think it has something to do with T-Mobile not recognizing the phone. I know it's spoofed as a 8800, but still. My HD2 never does it, and they are side by side with perfect signal.

And it just continues to try. But sometimes it's just fine.
Anyone else getting this crap? Or is just a select few?
Happens to me and my bro all the time. Some days mms is excellent, recently it doesn't download anything. I try resetting the mobile network/data, check my APNs, doesn't make a difference.
I'm in the same boat. I've had a few different people try to send me mms and only about half of them ever come through. I'm running cm7.0.2
Well, this sucks. . . Since I am running almsot the same ROM on my HD2 and it's just fine.
Hmmmmmm, crap. The phone seems almost fine otherwise. Still a few random crashes here and there. But this is the worst of it.
Really no fix for this?
I've never had a problem with MMS download on CM7 (even back during CM6).
Last week however I did get some that would not download (maybe 1 out of 3 all from wife's phone).
This week however everything is fine again. I'm thinking maybe it was a Tmobile thing.

Strange, one phone but not other.
Here it goes again.
I would run another ROM, but its so sparatic. Did it on CM7, Rodriguez and now a sticker I found randomly.
Man, this sucks. Still getting this BS.
Can it be the radio or the kernel? I am running out of options. This isn't cool.
It's so sparattic, one goes through just fine and then next five do this BS.
samething happened to me on 2 different roms.. MIGHT be a tmobile thing
How much free space do you have on your phone?

Yup, same here close to a hundred. Now running the kang 1.2 and it seems to be working but I am getting 502 errors in my browser.
Assuming you're restoring apps and data when you switch ROMs, it's possible that it may be due to corrupt data. Have you tried just deleting data from the Messaging app, just to rule out that possibility?
It could be an apn issue. (in my experience) I know because when I switch apn's it happens. I use an app called quick settings and I use the second apn setting in that app (the one with the wrench) Sometimes, my N1 (but mostly my NS) will end up on disabled_epc.t-mobile.com instead of epc.t-mobile.com, when that happens I get the MMS download issue
Sent from my NS running NSCollab 1.0.30 cuz I. STILL can't find my tin cans and string ....

[Q] WiFi download speeds getting locked at 2mbps

Ok, let me start by saying sorry for the new thread but I've managed to work out that it doesn't matter what ROM I install it happens if I do not have stock android.
Ok, I installed a new fresh ROM and Gapps, all correct, wipe before, wipe after, now boot I up my phone and run a speedtest, 30mbps download, 10 mbps upload, seems great I'm happy new ROM and the internet is working BUT then after maybe 20 minutes or so I run the test again, download is now 2mbps and upload still 10mbps, no matter how many times I test it it always maxes out at 2mbps download, restarting WiFi ect. doesn't do anything only doing a fresh ROM resolves it, for 20 minutes or so, I have all the latest Gapps, Firmware and Radio, tried multiple ROMs, problem follows them all, could it be the phone somehow conflicting with my router now I have a custom ROM?
I really need help with this its ruining my phone.
Or maybe is an "issue" of your modem?
Have you checked the DL speed from pc and see if is the same?
Its perfectly fine, even on my phone for the first 20 minutes or so, then just locks at 2mbps
30mbps down and 10 up on my PC just like it should be

Currently 4A.21.3263.04_10.38m.1157.04L - And just the normal HTC one M7-UL, I had this problem before I even updated firmware and radio, just seems to happen if I'm not running stock ROM, perhaps a radio conflict with my router that the custom ROM doesn't know how to deal with?
My internet provider is Sky UK, I'm getting fibre optic from them and my router is the Sky Hub
Edit:- Ok after unplugging my router and modem its gone back up to 30mbps but now its locked at 2mbps again so I'm guessing it may be my router or modem.

Your router should have a page for administrator and you can edit some thing like the frequency of the router and more.
You have to ask sky or check the guide of the modem to do this.

Yeah, sadly Sky Hub is a terrible router for giving you lots of settings, theres not much you can change, damn
I managed to change the channel but thats about it, no effect.
Ok Im using a better router as a relay so i can use its better wireless, now connected via 5GHZ, no really difference apart from download has doubled to a still slow 4mbps and upload dropped to 4 mbps also, hmm
OK after messing around with a better router it seemed fixed but then as usual dropped back to 2mbps, its now even running on 5ghz
Does no one have any clue why this could be happening? could it be a kernel since I have no idea what one I'm supposed to have?

[Q] Losing GSM and WiFi signal

I was running CM 11 (maclaw's) then for about a month or so I was having incredible slowness on WiFi. After some hours on stand-by, I don't know what happens to my device, the WiFi get super slow. This is what a normal connection looks like:

}
and this is how a stricken one looks like: (note the ping value)
Then I jumped ship to CarbonROM (also maclaw's). The WiFi problem didn't go away but now I also have a GSM signal cut off problem!:
Like the WiFi problem, after some hours on stand-by the GSM signal cuts off, persists that way until I boot my device.
What could be causing my connection problems? Do you think it's the ROMs? I really need help. I can deal with the super slow WiFi issue but GSM cut off is really serious. (I was apparently called for an interview but couldn't receive the call!)

Install some other rom (not novafusion's) to see if the problem persists (don't forget to make a Nandroid backup first and to change the f2fs to ext4) and update your baseband(from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2526831).
I use Android-Andi's SlimKat with none of your problems.

i did a clean install (while installing the latest carbonrom). same thing. bug report still doesn't work. never mind that. i still have problems with the wifi speed dropping significantly after some hours on standby. at least the GSM signal issue seems to be gone―which was the worst bug of all!

Baseband doesn't effect WiFi (it only effect GSM and radio) but the kernel effect WiFi
As xXPR0T0TYPEXx says baseband doesn't affect WiFi but only the GSM and radio (problem to CarbonROM).

unfortunately it does. i tried slimkat. the wifi problem persists.
then i installed maclaw's AOSPA. surprise, surprise(!) the problem is still there.
it's really annoying because when the problem starts, the wifi indicator happily indicates that it is getting full signal. but i am not getting any notifications or i am getting them with a massive delay, because my bandwidth has dropped below 1 mbps with humongous ping value.
i also didn't tinker with my router for a year. it runs the same firmware and same settings.
according here, -i guess- it seems to be a bug with android 4.4.4 :crying:
okay, i tried keeping gps on to see if there was any change...and there indeed was! this time the wifi speed didn't drop (but there was a cut off!):
so i am guessing it's a nasty bug that involves gps: in the absence of gps, wifi speed somehow decides to drop to creeping levels.
then i either have to keep gps on and sacrifice battery life or keep it off and manually on/off wifi every couple of hours :S

Slow wifi on Android Marshmallow 6.0 (MRA58K)

Hi guys!
I don't know if someone has already said something about this, but I've noticed, after I've made a clean format and flash of Marshmallow 6.0 on my Nexus 6 through Fastboot, reinstalling all my apps manually, one by one, that Wifi connection is very slow.
When I use LTE, everything is okay, but when Wifi is on, downloads and web surfing slow down
I've checked my router settings and everything is fine, since I have other Android devices with Lollipop 5.1 and 5.1.1 which download and surf at full speed, so what could it be?
Is there anyone who has the same problem?
I imagine that it could be the first Marshmallow bug, similar to the one of Lollipop 5.0, where Bluetooth was very slow, because other people on the web complained about that after Monday

Yeah, exactly, that's the major problem about web surfing!
Instead, about downloads from the Play Store, my home Wifi speed (4 Mbps) is halved, so apps and updates download at 2 Mbps.
It is not a great problem, since I've found out that other people on the web, because of their laziness, are experiencing more serious problems, due to dirty flashes of Marshmallow over Lollipop, but I really hope that Google will release a bugfix very soon, such as a Marshmallow 6.0.1
Personally I have not noticed any speed degradation after update to 6.0. It is same as it ever was ~25 Mpps.

After a deep search, I've found out that this bug appeared also in the passage from Jelly Bean to Kit Kat. Indeed, the problem is solved by switching to High Accuracy in the Location Services. It is a bug, because it is not normal that you can't use your Wifi at full speed if you use Battery Saving mode, but if you turn High Accuracy on, everything is okay!
Now I just hope that my battery will last as usual

Even in the passage from Jelly Bean to Kit Kat, the result of this attempt was not always the same and sometimes it didn't work, as it happened to you. So, the only way to solve this problem is to wait for a bugfix from Google

Hi 5hifty and guys, I have another interesting tip for you, if you have Wifi problems as me: it seemed like the option to turn off Wifi "Scanning always available" had been removed; instead, it was just moved to Settings --> Location --> Scanning: I have disabled Wifi scanning and Bluetooth scanning, I've rebooted my Nexus 6 and now, even if I've switched back to Battery Saving mode in Location, I surf and download at full speed not only on LTE, but also on Wifi!
However, the Wifi battery drain is still there and Google has already declared that they will fix it with the next update
^good to know!
I'm seeing horrible WiFi Speeds on a Nexus 7 2013 WiFi only model post clean update to Android 6
Have tried the location settings changes but still get really slow page loads in Chrome and Play store almost unusable Youtube
I found that if I go into apps and clear the cache in chrome it loads faster for a little while. Had an issue of the Google play store installing apps painfully slow. I uninstalled updates and it started flying again.
Likely could also be IPv6 related. Try installing the app dnset from the play store and activating it and testing. This app switches your phone back to using IPv4 dns servers (Google's).

I tried disabeling notification but that notification is from system. Any way I am on Croatina Tele 2.
I did try changing to IPv4/IPv6 in APN settings and still nothing. My only succesful solution was with DNset app.
I would disable that key icon it in xposed but no xposed framework for MM yet :/

In the meantime you need to let your isp know their IPv6 dns lookups are having issues. Explain to them when you force IPv4 google servers you see the issue go away.

Slow WIFI speed like A1

I have a stable wifi connection while one of my android gets the proper speed, A2 gets low amount of data at that same time. On a 3MBps package, my other phone crosses 250kbps, while A2 gets some what 110-150kbps in general. I have double checked this matter. FYI, this was in A1 too after updating to oreo. I am on august patch update. Please shed some lights regarding this crucial matter on HOW TO FIX IT
My Mi A2 is losing connection constantly, so it must be a general problem.
I've noticed that 5 Ghz reception isn't as good as my previous phones at long distances, but at short distances I'm getting over 17 MB/s (136 Mbps).

surprisingly it's the same issue with Mi A1 and official ROM - sometimes drops connection - not customs like LOS or RR.
but due to full treble comptability we should have benefits from flashing GSIs soon
it seems work fine on my device.

Have u find any solution? I have the same problem. Wifi sometimes get too slow to load anything, but in other devices it works perfectly fine.
Same problem here. Have a 200U/10D Mbps package. On 5GHz i pull about 72Mbps and upload 10Mbps which is acceptable (tho I've seen in this thread that the HW can do much more), but on 2.4GHz, it's just hell... I get 2.6 down and 2.2 up. In these tests I was next to the router so they are not affected by distance.
In my case the Mi A2 is pretty much identical speeds with (my router) 5GHz wifi as the other phones I've used recently. That includes Huawei Mate SE, LG G6, Google Nexus 5 and 5x. I'm never connected for more than a few minutes though.
I had the same problem. Then I did a connection reset in the network and internet menu, and that did the trick.

Could you please elaborate how you did the reset please?
Oke to do this go to the settings menu. Choose 'network and Internet' Then in the top right corner click on the 3 dots. Then choose reset.
Did that but didn't help. Still get VERY bad speeds on 2.4 GHz
I have the same problem. I have found a solution for me. Plane Mode and WiFi on. With this i have a normal wifi speed. With activated Sim cards the speed ist slow. Regards
Have you checked, when you have WiFi problems, for CPU stuck at Max freq?
BTW, I had plane mode activated for 2 weeks and never had CPU problems and 1st day I opened it came back.
Found a solution
Hey so what you guys need to do is hold the Wi-Fi icon in the quick menu, and then press Wi-Fi preferences and the press advenced, network rating provider, and then click none. This worked for me.

My Mi A2 is losing connection constantly, so it must be a general problem.
