Recommended Settings:
All Animations speed: 0.5x (Changed via Developer options)
Wi-Fi Sleep policy: Never. (Changed via Settings > Wi-Fi > Advanced) - Check Battery stats occasionally | some Apps will force Wi-Fi to be always on
Bugs:
When flashing, I get the following: "E:Error executing updater binary in zip"
This is a custom recovery bug. Try restarting recovery and flashing again. Alternatively you may need to format /data (userdata) in Custom Recovery. Note: this will delete anything on internal storage - photos, music, videos etc.
Frequently Asked Questions:
What is this Collection?
All of these ROMs are created from the Motorola 4G Factory Firmware images. A pure source, unlike a dump of an OTA Updated system; the upgrading process patches, moves or deletes system files. The result is possibly bugs being introduced, and files being left over. These ROMs are completely clean, and any bugs you find are genuine Android issues.
How to turn off Lock-screen rotation?
This setting is a built.prop edit. Use a text editor with root access to open: /system/build.prop - remove the last line, or change to 'false':
lockscreen.rot_override=true
What is 'Zipaligining' | Post-install zipaligning?
Zipaligining
It makes app use less RAM. Longer answer.
Post-install zipaligning
Newly installed apps are zip-aligned after reboot. This process occurs only once per app, as a database exists in /system/usr. When an app is updated, the new apk will also be zip-aligned and added to the database.

This will probably make some xda members happy, so thank you even if i won't use KK roms :good:
You don't talk about the bootloader, i've always thought that getting back to 4.4 after updating (through OTA) the bootloader to LP would brick the device, am i wrong ?
If i'm not, you may add a warning (and a big one lol) because xda flashing junkies unhappy with LP will flash these without thinking about bootloader :silly:

These ROMs don't touch the Bootloader - there is zero risk.

Full collection now available. Optimized ROMs include updated System and Google apps - along with all the features listed in OP.

Edit: Nevermind....clicked the wrong thread.....

Hello!
I decided to test out the ROMs. My Moto G 4G (XT1045) has the latest bootloader, 41.1A.
I downloaded both the untouched and optimized Retail ROMs. The untouched version works fine, but the optimized version does not work at all. Once I finish setting up my Wifi and gmail, a text box pops up mentioning that the setup crashed. It is then stuck and I can no longer progress forward with the optimized ROM.
Hope this was some help.

Can you rotate screen at that point and go back or skip? It's most likely a Google Play Services issue. Maybe try skipping all WiFi and Account setup. I will upload a new Optimized ROM asap.

I forgot to mention in my post of what you just mentioned: I tried to skip the Wifi Setup, but the same problem occurred. I also tried skipping the Account Setup, but that didn't work too. I pressed the back button, but it did nothing at all. I can not rotate the screen at all, and is stuck at portrait. I gave safe mode a shot, and it was the same result haha.

For that you need the 4.4.4 Recovery. Attached.
However, if you want my opinion; use fastboot to flash the XT1045 5.1 Factory Firmware Image. You will have less bugs and better performance. For the best experience possible, flash one of a Stock Optimized ROMs. XT1045 Optimized available soon.
Factory Firmware Images: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/general/index-moto-g-falcon-factory-firmware-t3110795

XT1045 Retail US 4.4.4 (Optimized) v1.0a is now available.
Changelog:
Restored: Original 4.4.4 Launcher

If I went with your suggested option I would not receive the boot loader upgrade, I'm doing this method for that reason only. Thank you for providing me with the recovery file and stock 4.4.4.
I will only be using stock long enough to receive the OTA, then going back to custom ROMs.
(I will be performing a full backup through fastboot before and after OTA)

Alright, I downloaded and tested the new version out. I was able to get to the home screen this time. Now the problem I have is that I'm not able to sign in with my gmail account. I attempted to do it during the setup, and I tried to do it after skipping the setup. Both does not work, and a text box pops up saying that the "Google Account Manager" has crashed.

Unfortunately, this version does not resolve the Google Account Manager problem.

[ROM][P311X] (4.1.2) XXDME3 | Stock | Odexed | For Devs & ROM Cooks

This is a CWM/TWRP flashable ROM based on the latest P3110 firmware (June 2013) from SamMobile.
This ROM is as stock as they come! It includes all of the features that we don't like in our customs ROMs! Such as....
Stock Kernel w/ no mods
All bloatware included
It's not rooted
It's odexed
It's not zipaligned
Touchwiz Lag
And so much more!!!
What you do get is an excellent platform to build customs ROMs with so it's perfect for Devs, Rom Cooks, and users that just want a stock system that works great!
The XXDME3 firmware is based on the GT-P3110 but you can indeed flash this ROM on your GT-P3113 as-is, you will just be lacking the IR app and the Settings/About Device will show your Model number as GT-P3110 (these are easy fixes and I can provide them at your request).
So there you go! I will try to provide these Stock ROMs in a flashable format whenever they are released by SamMobile.

[INFO]WARNING: Android 5.0 Bootloader and Kitkat Compatibility

Android 5.0 (Lollipop) Bootloader and KitKat Compatibility
Everyone wants Lollipop, however it is worth considering some of the possible consequences of upgrading via OTA update.
Bootloader:
A new Bootloader (BL) will almost certainly be included in the OTA update. It is also very likely no KitKat Kernel, stock or custom will be able to boot properly with the 5.0 BL. Perhaps the Kernel DEVs can find a workaround.
Root: (ETA: Unknown)
It may take some time to gain root access on Lolipop as on other devices this has required a custom Kernel. A custom kernel itself may require kernel sources to be released - something that has taken weeks / months in the past.
Xposed Framework:
Developer has said he will wait for CyanogenMod based on Lollipop before properly starting development of an ART version of Xposed. CM12 may take a few weeks to release. Expect to do without Xposed for at least a month, probably longer since root is also required (see above.)
Custom Recovery:
This has not been an issue before, but it is always possible a new Bootloader could break compatibility with existing Custom Recoveries. Obviously, you would not be able to restore a CWM / TWRP backup without a functional custom recovery; but even then, it is unlikely you will be able to boot your KitKat backup.
Custom ROMs:
This is another area that could be affected by a new Bootloader. It is unknown if existing custom ROMs will require new Kernels / system changes in order to work with the new BL - something that could take days, weeks or months.
Performance:
Currently the performance difference between KitKat and Lollipop is unknown. If the first release of Lollipop for Android One has performance issues, you may be unable to revert back to stock KitKat.Possible solution:
Wait for a flashable zip [NOT OTA Update zip] of Stock Android One Lollipop ROM - this would mean your Bootloader remains at it's current version and potentially allowing you to change 'back and forth' between Stock KitKat and Stock Lollipop. However, it is currently unknown if the newer BL is a requirement for Android 5.0 Kernels.
This is taken from the Moto G thread and all credits goes to @lost101.The sole motive of this is to create awareness about the new bootloader included in 5.0
Thanks For The Info @DC07 :highfive:

Nope. The bootloader was updated on my nexus 7 flo for the 4.4.2 OTA. Since this update is much bigger I think we'll have a bootloader update too.

Upgrade questions on Sprint from LYZ28J to MRA58K

I have a factory shipped nexus 6 that i've been using since day one. I've never updated the firmware nor been promted to, mainly because I'm rooted and running custom roms. I'm currently running Pure 5.1.1
My question is... there is no straight upgrade from LYZ28J to MRA58K. Furthermore, I'm looking at sprints site and they dont list LYZ28J as their firmware, and in-fact its a t-mobile firmware. Is it displaying LYZ28J because of my rom? Do i have to upgrade from LYZ28J -> LYZ28K -> LYZ28M -> MRA58K ??

Over in the other forum, you didn't mention that you were rooted and running a custom ROM. You will never get an OTA installed while in that state. OTAs require a stock target device.
Also, this seems to solve the mystery of how you came to be running a T-Mobile build on Sprint. That obviously was a property of the custom ROM you installed. Sprint did not ship it that way.

No. You can't use any of the stock OTA updates on a modded phone.
Once you cross over into the world of custom ROMs, you will never get another automatic update from Google. The ROM developer you went with is responsible for incorporating updates from Google into an updated ROM. ( I see that the Pure Nexus ROM has been updated.)
And you are responsible for flashing that updated ROM manually.

If you want back to stock, you just download and flash it yourself... and if your doing that no reason not to just go straight to the latest.

Moto G 2014 XT1068 became very slow after upgrade to v5.0.2

Hello everyone,
The phone worked fine with version v4.4.4 after the upgrade (v5.0.2) he became unbearably slow.
I do not know too much about root, rom and and so (last time I change rom it was on my HTC Desire ).
Generally I would be happy if there is a simple way (or at least a detailed guide) to restore the phone to the version he came with.
I would appreciate your help :fingers-crossed:
If you want to restore to stock 4.4.4
Then go to the general section of this phones forum and search for your model and the firmware (4.4.4) you want. Then just follow the steps to restore. (I can't tell you which firmware since you haven't mentioned your phone model). Or install CM 13 Official, it's stable as hell, and its better than stock. (Guide to flashing roms also exists).

Thanks for the quick response.
My phone model is Motorola Moto G 2014 XT1068 as appearing in the title, any additional information needed to specify ?
About CM 13 Official from what I've read here and in other places It seems like if it not stock there be problems like camera does not work, low battery, problem with SMS and so... Or is it only in certain versions ?
Sorry. I didn't read the title properly.
This link : Stock 4.4.4
There's no thing wrong with CM. It's better than stock for sure and there's no additional problems seen when you use CM. Just don't flash Xposed.
Its stable and fast even though it's in Alpha stage.
Thank you !
You have any idea how do I know whice fireware I need ?
A) Firmware KXB21.85.14 (earliest version)
B) Firmware KXB21.85.23 (DSDS ALL)
C) Firmware KXB21.85.27 (latest version)
D) Firmware KXB21.85.23 - GB Region (UK)
E) Firmware KXB21.85.14 - DE Region (Germany)
Depends on your country.
A and B should work on ANY XT1068 as it's a Retail for ALL Dual sim, (it may or may not have certain languages)

Frequently Asked Questions:
What is this Collection?
All of these ROMs are created from the Motorola Factory Firmware images. A pure source, unlike a dump of an OTA Updated system; the upgrading process patches, moves or deletes system files. The result is possibly bugs being introduced, and files being left over. These ROMs are completely clean, and any bugs you find are genuine Android issues.
Do I need to upgrade to Android 6.0 before flashing these ROMs?
No. You can go directly from any ROM or firmware.
Do I need to downgrade to Android 5.1.1 before flashing these ROMs?
No.
How do I make Animations in Android faster or turn them off?
Enable Developer options - repeatedly tap 'Build number' in About phone. Change the three 'Animation scale' settings to: .5x or off. "2.5x" is available if you have installed the Xposed Module known as GravityBox.
Will these ROMs get official Motorola OTA Updates?
Official Motorola OTA Updates have been disabled in all ROMs. However, newer Factory Firmware Images become available that incorporate all OTA Updates - and when possible I try to update ROMs based on those new Images.
Thanks for this!!! We really needed it badly!
Just as a sidenote...the modem.img in this thread is the same as the official 6.0 release for US xt1540 2gb I noticed you only had the 1gb sku listed under 6.0

Wow... Congrats for your hardworking.. Everybody will be happy for this.
I'd appreciate it if someone could take a few screen-shots, in particular of app drawer and RAM usage.
@hp420 - I'm adding Radio Firmware as I go. I'm unsure how much a role a certain radio has in ROM functionality, for example if Marshmallow ROMs require the Marshmallow radio firmware. They are here to make it easier for people to change between radios if it proves necessary.

right, that's why i linked to the mm modem.img i posted. it's actually from a soak test, but they didn't change it any before releasing official firmware, so that is the official mm radio for mm xt1540 2gb variant, as well as the soak test one.
Thank you so much @lost101 for the stock rom flashable zips...hoping mm flashable zips now

Perhaps I should have been more clear. I wanted some screen-shots of RAM usage after a fresh install and before you add any apps. Also, when reporting issues, you need to tell me exactly which ROM you are talking about.
Good job! ?

I'm reluctant to upload any more ROMs with feedback on those currently available. So consider all available ROMs still a work-in-progress.
Can anyone tell me about 'MotoHide' - what it does and if it's available on Google Play?
I can help testing for 1543 dual sim. Thanks! I stopped motohide and nothing happened. I can try freezing it if it helps. It doesn't appear in Google Play or in Google search....

I suspect it's the 'Active Display' service aka 'notification peek.' It's a tiny file, hardly worth removing if it's not easy to restore.
