Here is the guide to rooting the phone.
Just make sure you read it over once or twice before proceeding. If you don't feel confident in your ability to do what the guide says, then I'd advise you not try it as you could easily brick your phone.
Good luck.

Go to the original G4 thread and you will find a guide to show you how to root your phone.

help do simple root

my at&t vivid is already bootloader unlock thru htc dev. now all i needed to do is just root to remove bloatware. i don't want to go thru s off or ClockworkMod recovery as much possible. Google seacrh lots of result and it gets complicated. how can i install superuser to access root? anyone?

If you follow step #1 in the [SUPERGUIDE] ICS-Root-Flash-Stock (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20795908) you'll end up with WCX recovery and rooted stock. That should get you going; no need to S-off until you're ready for a bit simpler flashing of ROMs.

Sorry, it's actually step #2, just don't continue with s-off (last step in#2).
got it, thanks.

AT&T OTA

Pardon my stupidity if this has already been asked, but I couldnt find any info on it.
SIM unlocked and rooted my AT&T Moto X and am running it on my local carrier. Have 4.2 installed with SS. I just got the OTA notification for 4.4 (i assume from AT&T). Is this normal?
Also, if I were to take the OTA, it would break root of course, but could I just use slapmymoto to root it? Also, since I have never done OTAs, are there any disadvantages to it?
TIA
Don't bother taking the ota...the first step of slap my Moto is returning to stock 4.2.2!

The flash tool is gonna think u r a D959 so use D959 well I'm hoping that is what did when I tried to port a att rom I had to use att tot file. That is why I have it to make u a rom

Uploading now. 100% stock as so you'll have to root and do recovery again
Sent from my LG-D959 using Tapatalk
any chance you could post a link to that .zip, I think that this would help a lot of us dimwits that didn't listen to your original precautions and flashed our AT&T phones
Any word on a link to that zip? I could use it too.

[Q] [Question} Can you root the D959m20?

HI does anybody know of a safe rooting method for the TMo. LG G FLEX 4.4.2 since the D959m20 update? I looked all over and can't find anything that says it will specifically work with D959m20. If anyone know about this please let me know,
Thanks a lot.
