My z2 is not rooted, why do I need to downgrade to 17.1.2.A.0.314 before I can update to 23.4.A.0.546?
I'm currently on the 23.1.A.1.28 stock firmware.
there is a LINK here that says only flashtool can do the trick.

No luck flashing .314 firmware. Please help.
Thanks for the instructions which I've followed up to flashing of the .314 firmware however when I restart my D6503 phone it goes into a boot loop and just displays Sony then Xperia over and over again.
I tried reflashing but get the same result.
The flash appears to be successful and the log is attached.
Can you please suggest how I can get past this and continue with the root?
Thanks.

That is the rootable one. So, you must downgrade to .314. If you don't want to downgrade, then forget the root.

Hi, what is the problem with windows 10? I can't make it to work on win7. but only on win10 that my flashtool works.

for number 6, he means to flash the file you have downloaded on step 4. for number 9, you already have root access on that point given that you have followed all preceding instructions. The file you flashed on step 6 is the pre-rooted system partition of the 244 firmware, that is why on step 8 he indicated that you should not include flashing of the system part.
offtopic: now that there is a root method for xperia ZR, I will be buying it in the coming weeks. =))
Now it all seems to work fine so far. But what still hold me back is the pre-rooted zip file with the system partition from an unknown source. I always run custom ROM on my Android phones but usually they're from the developer directly. Flashing zip files downloaded from these Russian websites seem a bit risky. Anyone knows more about the source of it?

The file zr244-system-supersu.zip is already a flashable zip of system partition with busybox, su and Superuser.apk. So you might find your missing files there or flash it for the whole system partition.

is anyone able to get into recovery? pressing up or down during the green light doesnt do anything. the only way i can access recovery is to reflash it every time.

[Tip]{All firmwares} Easily root an Xperia ZR with unlocked bootloader

thHello all,
This is a known way to root any android phone with an unlocked bootloader. I tested it on my ZR, it just works fine and is easy & fast to follow !
It works for all firmwares and it's a good way to root the latest stock rom (eg .67 / .244 or even KitKat firmwares).
Note: I'm not responsible if something happens to your device ! Just follow the procedure and all'd be fine !
Quick instructions
Unlock bootloader
Flash any CWM-containing kernel
Boot into recovery and flash su-bin-arm-signed.zip (or this one that worked for me on KitKat)
Revert back to stock kernel
Install SuperSU and update su.bin
Enjoy
Instructions for noobies (yes I didn't forget you !)
Unlock your bootloader.
You may want to backup your TA before. In this case you need an already rooted phone. I personnaly downgraded mine to .310 then rooted it with Doom's toolkit to be able to backup my TA.
Download and copy the following file to your phone: su-bin-arm-signed.zip (or this one for 4.3)
Install the firmware you want to be on when the phone gets rooted
Flash a kernel that contains CWM, for example this one which comes from CM 10.1 FXP234a (you can also try to hotboot it, didn't work for me).
You can flash it with a command line or a soft like FlashTool:
In FlashTool select Flash > Fastboot mode
Connect the phone in fastboot mode : when powered off, connect it to your laptop while pressing Volume + key. You can release the key when the LED turns blue
Select the kernel to flash and run the operation
> Now do not try to boot normally the phone because it won't boot, as the kernel's not compatible with the stock rom.
Boot into recovery:
Power on the phone
When the led turns violet at boot for 3", press Volume +
Now you are in recovery. Use Volume buttons to navigate and Power to confirm.
Select Install zip > Choose zip from sdcard or external sdcard (depending where you put the .zip to flash)
Choose su-bin-arm-signed.zip
Confirm
Go to Advanded > Power off
Flash back the stock kernel corresponding to the firmware installed on the phone (.244 -> .244 kernel). You can for example use Flashtool:
Download the .ftf of the build installed on your phone (no matter the location of the firmware)
Run Flashtool
Do Flash > Flashmode and select the .ftf you downloaded
Uncheck anything on the "Wipe" colon
Check everything on the "Exclude" colon except "KERNEL"
You should now only have kernel.sin and loader.sin on the content colon.
Click on Flash
Connect the phone in flash mode : when powered off, connect it to your laptop while pressing Volume - key. You can release the key when the LED turns green
Reboot the phone, install SuperSU, run it and update the su binary
You can relock the bootloader with Backup TA to recover warranty or Bravia Engine 2 without losing root.

Hello all,
This is a known way to root any android phone with an unlocked bootloader. I tested it on my ZR, it just works fine and is easy & fast to follow !
It works for all firmwares and it's a good way to root the latest stock rom (eg .244).
Note: I'm not responsible if something happens to your device ! Just follow the procedure and all'd be fine !
Quick instructions
Unlock bootloader
Flash any CWM-containing kernel
Boot into recovery and flash su-bin-arm-signed.zip
Revert back to stock kernel
Install SuperSU and update su.bin
Enjoy
Instructions for noobies (yes I didn't forget you !)
Unlock your bootloader.
You may want to backup your TA before. In this case you need an already rooted phone. I personnaly downgraded mine to .310 then rooted it with Doom's toolkit to be able to backup my TA.
Download and copy the following file to your phone: su-bin-arm-signed.zip

Regarding backup of TA partition, does it have to revert to original firmware or can I back it up even after flashing 4.2.2 with root?

Backing up TA Partition can only be done BEFORE you unlocked bootloader.
Thanks NeoJeo for this awesome rooting method! Flashed the Nordic 4.2.2 ROM on my Xperia ZR and it is working like a charm .
I've backed up my phone's TA partition just in case something goes wrong and I need to re-lock it and give it for servicing .
@ Grim_ripper: Is your bootloader already unlocked ?
@ su1979: You're welcome, glad I helped !

Hello,
No, not possible for the moment. For other devices such as the Xperia Z we can relock the bootloader by flashing a .ftf but without recovering the drm.
The backup and restore tool is the better way to reloock but it needs a backup before you unlock the BL.
I cant acces to the recovery mode even i press vol+ when i see the green light
Did i do something wrong?
The device is working good so far by this rooting method.
I just want the recovery mode back:cyclops:

If "select kernel to flash" says something like
"writing 'boot'...
FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)"
It means your bootloader is not unlocked yet.

I am sure the BL is unlocked already as I flashed CM10.1 before.
anyway, Thanks for your advise
Edit: Use PRFCreated method for lollipop 5.0.2->5.1.1
Edit: For windows 8/10, you need to enable test mode for S1Boot fastboot driver install, you can also sign it with Zadig afterwards and turn off test mode.
Code:
bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING ON
(reboot)
Thanks NeoJeo for the method!
For some reason, my friend's new machine have to use flashtool to create a ftf backup first after updating the official firmware . Using other kernels will fail and creates a bootloop. (Maybe carrier locked? No idea.)
Bootloop can be solved by re-flashing the stock firmware completely and redo all the steps again, so its quite safe.

Step by step reference for my friends:
1. download & install flashtool http://flashtool.net/download.html
^if doesnt work, then try https://www.dropbox.com/s/xyk493qa8psydrf/flashtool-0.9.13.0-windows.exe
2. install flashmode and fastboot drivers from C:\Flashtool\drivers
3. plugin your phone, make sure settings->security->unknown source and settings->developer options->usb debugging is checked at all times
(if cant find developer options, go to settings->about phone->build number, keep tapping build number to see what happens)
4. - If your already phone upgraded, then:
4.1 If you want to keep your current kernel for later use, see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2334653)
4.2 download 31x kernel (4.1.2) from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2384512
4.3 save it to \Flashtool\firmwares
4.4 open FlashTool.exe, click Flash device -> Flashmode
^ to enter flashmode, either plugin usb without battery or plugin usb with Volume - while your phone is OFF
4.5 select the 31x kernel and downgrade
4.6 kill FlashTool.exe
5. download and run doomlord's rooter from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2327472
6. use task manager or cmd to kill adb.exe, if it is still running
- Now you have a rooted phone
7. download and run backup ta from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598 , keep the zip file for later use
- Backup TA only works with rooted rom
- If you want to use the latest andriod continue below:
7 download the latest firmware with xperifirm and bundle it with flashtool.
8. upgrade / flash your system to the latest version (see step 4, but use the latest firmware file instead)
9. get unlock key from http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/unlock/step1
11. download andriod sdk from google and install http://developer.android.com/
12. open SDK manager, scroll down and check Google USB Driver then click install packages
^ if doesnt work, then try: https://www.dropbox.com/s/lgs2m90p1et87hx/platform-tools.7z
^ USB drivers is also avaible under flashtools/drivers
13. go to \sdk\platform-tools
(replace %key% below with the key from sony's email)
run fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0x%key% in cmd
or create a plain text file and save it as a .bat with
Code:
fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0x[B][I]%key%[/I][/B] [user=607132]@pause[/user]
^ If stuck at 'waiting for device', you can use flashtool.exe to enter 'fastboot mode via adb' (run Flashtool.exe -> Flash device -> fastbootmode
), then re-try the command above
^ while in fastboot mode, your phone screen is off and led is blue
- Now you bootloader is unlocked.
14. put this zip file into your external sd from http://download.chainfire.eu/supers...om/s/sy1vzzq9ygfvqvb/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.01.zip
15. run Flashtool.exe -> Flash device -> fastbootmode
16. reboot into fastboot mode (via ADB)
17. after led turns blue, select kernel to flash and choose boot.img from http://www.mediafire.com/download/4bs9zy3z4sl1lvl/boot.img
^ if doesnt work, try: https://www.dropbox.com/s/y5is541wd5lck79/boot.img
18 click reboot device into system while pressing Volume +
- if LED does not turn purple at all, something must be wrong
- press Volume + as long as but NOT before the LED turn purple.
^ return to step 4 if needed, bootloader may be not properly unlocked.
19 select install zip -> choose zip from external sdcard
^ Volume+ - is up and down, Power is select
20 confirm
21 go to advance -> power off
22 remove battery and plugin usb to enter flash mode
^ Flashtool.exe should show the phone is connected in flash mode
^ But there seems to be a time limit where CM 10.1 remount itself automatically with the wired blue thing popping up and then crash
23 return to Flashtool.exe -> Flash device -> Flashmode
24 choose the .ftf either from the one in step 8 or the one you have downloaded
25 Uncheck anything on the "Wipe" colon
26 Check everything on the "Exclude" colon except "KERNEL"
^ You should now only have kernel.sin and loader.sin on the content colon
27 FLASH!
- if bootloop occurs, return to step 4 lol
^ alternatively you can just redo step 24, but this time "Wipe" everything and "Include" everything. If it boots, then jump right to step 14 and retry installing the zip
28 Install super su in google play
^ first boot may need battery in and usb removed
29 (optional) Re-run backup-ta to restore the zip from step 7 for Relocking bootloader (and check for rooted at the same time)
- if backup ta failed because of no su rights, return to step 4 lol
EDIT: do not re-lock bootloader if using the new img
EDIT:
Upgrading should keep your settings and stuff, unless something went wrong that you have to wipe data for a clean install.
Quick check list:
1. Most Important. Make sure you still have your bootloader backups.
Run Backup-TA to backup your current bootlocker if needed (new version here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598). Backup-TA only works on rooted.
2. If you somehow lost it, re-obtain your unlock key from http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/unlock/step1
3. Have your Flashtool and SDK ready (https://www.dropbox.com/s/xyk493qa8psydrf/flashtool-0.9.13.0-windows.exe, https://www.dropbox.com/s/lgs2m90p1et87hx/platform-tools.7z)
4. If you need the stock firmware from your carrier, remember to clear contents in something like: C:\ProgramData\Sony Ericsson\Update Engine\db\13740270\blob_fs and/or C:\ProgramData\Sony Mobile\Update Engine\db\13740270\blob_fs (or something similar in %appdata% for windows XP)
5. You can use any ADB backup tool or Sony Companion to backup your settings, best timing is right after OS update but before rooting.
To do:
1. Either upgrade with Sony Companion and use Flashtool -> SEUS Decrypt, or download by XperiFirm to create your own firmware (Will take a while to load depending on the power level of your PC.)
or just use the firmware people uploaded
2. open Flashtool.exe -> Flash device -> fastbootmode
3. reboot into fastboot mode (via ADB)
4. Unlock you bootlocker by running "fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0x%key%" (%key% is your unlock key from Sony's email)
^ (Last time I checked, some people say they need to update SDK first.)
^ (unlock key may change after new firmware is flashed)
^ you need to enter fastboot mode via ADB first, or it will get stuck at 'waiting for device'
5. select kernel to flash and choose boot.img
6. click reboot device into system while pressing Volume + (press Volume + after the LED turn purple)
7. select install zip -> choose zip from external sdcard -> your-su-zip-file (http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu)
^ 'Volume+' 'Volume-' and 'Power'.
8. go to advance -> power off
^ If you get a boot loop, simply remove battery and plugin usb cable to enter flashmode and re-flash the new firmware again.
^ remember to re-enable "Usb debugging" under "Developer options"
^ tap "About phone" -> "Build number" 10 times to unlock "Developer options"
[/hide]
Thanks this works great but I am unable to successfully install a recovery with this method. Has anyone had the same issues??

Flash stock recovery before proceeding
.
NOTE: If You are a rooted non-stock user I suggest you look at @rootSU's thread before proceeding as his method for rooted users is far less prone to cause issues.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/info-rooted-user-learn-to-update-t2927876
First, let's talk about what an OTA is:
An OTA (Over the Air) update is the method of updating your phone's software. When the OTA is downloaded to your phone it will prompt you to reboot and install. It is not a complete image, but a series of patches to the OS. Patches in the OTA can include: bootloader, radio, system, recovery and kernel. While it's installing, the script checks the files it is patching to make sure the original files are correct. If everything is correct, the update will finish successfully. If it's not, the process will stop. That's why it is critical to make sure everything is in its "out of the box" state. Don't worry though. It is easy to get your phone back to a state where you will have it up and running, with the latest software.
We are also able to manually flash this file. When the URL of the OTA is discovered, you can download it and use adb or a custom recovery to apply it.
Now that you have read the important info above, Let's update your Nexus 5!
In order for the OTA to apply successfully without intervention; you must be completely stock
From 4.4.4 KTU84P
Current Bootloader: HHZ11k
Current Radio M8974A-2.0.50.1.16
Stock Kernel: 3.4.0-gd59db4e
All /system apps present
No modifications to existing /system files of ANY kind.
From 4.4.3 KTU84M
Current Bootloader: HHZ11k
Current Radio:M8974A-2.0.50.1.13
Stock Kernel: 3.4.0-gd59db4e
All /system apps present
No modifications to existing /system files of ANY kind.
Note: Literally any modification will break the OTA. Xposed, DPI, build.prop, volume mod, etc. ANYTHING!
Seriously, I'm not joking guys.
If you meet the above criteria, the OTA will complete successfully.
If you don’t meet the criteria or don’t want to wait for the OTA to hit your device then see below.

These are the most common scenarios. If you aren't sure where you fit, feel free to ask.
NOTE: Starting with Android 5.0 (LRX21O) you MUST sideload the OTA in a STOCK RECOVERY. No exceptions.
Scenario #1
You are completely stock. Unlocked/locked bootloader. No root permissions.
Continue to Section A
Scenario #2
You are stock, with root. Custom Recovery without any modifications or deletions.
Continue to Section B
Scenario #3
You are stock, with Xposed Framework installed.
Continue to Section C
Scenario #4
You are stock, with a custom kernel and/or old radio and no other modifications.
Continue to Section D,1
Scenario #5
You are stock with any modifications to /system/ including removed system apk(s) and a custom kernel.
Continue to Section D,2 or See 2nd Post (Special Scenario #1) **Special Scenario #1 is not updated yet**
Scenario #6
You are running a Custom ROM
Continue to Section D,3
Section A: adb sideload
NOTE:Make sure you have the latest version of adb. It seems people are having issues with older versions. It's attached at the bottom of this. Also Starting with Android 5.0 you must sideload the OTA through a stock recovery. Custom recoveries for now will error out.
1) Download the OTA.zip on your PC, rename the file update.zip, then place file in the same directory as adb.
2) Make sure you have USB Debugging checking in the Developer Options, then connect your phone.
3) Open the command prompt from the directory above on your PC and type the command: 'adb reboot recovery'
4) When in recovery, you’ll see an android laying down. Press and hold POWER, and then press volume up and release. The menu will appear. Select “apply update from adb
5) Using the command prompt type: 'adb sideload update.zip' The file will load and the update will begin.
6) When completed, select reboot.
Section B: Flashing in a Custom Recovery (TWRP- CWM)
(For Flashing 4.4.4 OTAs and Below ONLY!)
1) Download the OTA.zip and copy to your phone.
2) Boot into recovery.
3) Flash the OTA just like you would a ROM.
4) Reboot.
Section C: Uninstalling Xposed Framework
Use the Xposed Framework Installer to remove the framework before applying the OTA.
Go into Xposed Framework, Framework-> Uninstall (it will restore the original file "app_process") then reboot.
NOTE: If you just uninstall Xposed Framework (the app itself), even after a reboot the "app_process" file (in /system/bin) is still the modified one by Xposed Framework, the original file is not restored.
Xposed Installer and info can be found here.
Once Xposed is uninstalled; jump back up to Section A on stock recovery (5.0 and above) and Section B on custom recovery (4.4.4 and below).
Thanks @Hammer_Of_The_Gods & @C3C076
Section D: Let’s get back to stock
1) Flash the stock boot.img and/or radio.img (whatever is applicable) from the factory image using fastboot. Also flash recovery.img if updating to 5.0
Fastboot commands used in this section would be:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash radio radio-hammerhead-M8974A-1.0.25.0.23.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
NOTE: Some custom kernels will modify files in /system/ If this is the case you will see a status 7 error and the file modified. The easiest way to fix this is to flash the system.img
2) Replace the stock kernel or .apk(s) you removed or modified.
If you don't have a backup of removed or modified apk(s) flash the system.img
Note: These must be the exact versions that shipped with the rom.
Fastboot commands used in this section would be:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
3) Flash the KOT49H stock image. Follow abaaaabbbb63's guide if you need help.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After completing the steps needed to return to “stock” make sure you meet all the criteria at the top of the page then revert to:
Section A if you are running stock recovery.
Section B if you are running a custom recovery (for 4.4.4 OTAs and below only).
Feel free to ask any questions you may have. I’ll do my best to answer them as quickly as possible. Perhaps others may answer them as well. Please read to see if your question has been answered before asking.
FAQ
Q: When in Recovery/Bootloader the phone isn't listed in Windows Device Manager.
A: Uninstall all current N5 drivers and install the Universal Naked driver. Turn on USB Debugging in Developer Settings and boot to recovery
Q: I'm seeing a status 7 error when trying to install the OTA
A: Look at the error closely. It will describe on the file it is failing at. Post the file path so we can help resolve the issue.
Q: The ota applied successfully but I lost my custom recovery and I want to re-root. How do I get root back?
A: Flash the custom recovery of your choice in fastboot and use it to regain root permissions
Q: I've tried everything, but I'm still getting status 7 errors.
A: Unfortunately you may have to start from scratch. Follow Section C1.
Q: I flashed a .zip file that modified (insert mod here.) Will I the OTA install successfully?
A: No, any modification at all will cause the OTA to fail.
Q: Why do I get a "cannot read update.zip" error when trying to sideload?
A: If you named the file update.zip, the actual name would be update.zip.zip. Windows auto names extensions by default. That could be your problem. If not try another usb cable or a different usb port. If that still doesn't work, make sure you type exactly what you renamed the file. You may have made a typo. It is also case-sensitive.

Special Scenario #1
If you are running the stock ROM, rooted, with a custom kernel, and you want to retain root after the OTA; follow this great detailed walkthrough by @Lettuce!
If it helps you, make sure you thank him on the original post, located here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48212456&postcount=2681) downloaded factory image from https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#hammerhead
2) extract the tgz, the tar within that, then extract the the zip within that to get the system.img and boot.img files
3) moved these two files into the adb folder (for the fastboot/adb method)
4) download Latest SuperSU from http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu
5) put SuperSU.zip on your phone's internal storage
6) download the 4.4.1 OTA update zip from http://android.clients.google.com/p...ed-hammerhead-KOT49E-from-KRT16M.7ed504f6.zip
7) rename it to ota.zip
8) move ota.zip onto your phone's internal storage
9) boot into bootloader
10) open command prompt from your adb folder
11) connect USB cable
12) type 'fastboot devices' to check the connection
13) type 'fastboot flash system system.img'
14) type 'fastboot flash boot boot.img'
15) use volume and power buttons to boot into recovery (TWRP)
16) install ota.zip
17) install latest SuperSu.zip
18) clear dalvik and cache
19) reboot phoneUPDATED: 1/25/15

Scenario #2: Will I receive a message ?
Thanks for this thread. It's just what I've been trying to figure out.
So, if I'm Scenario #2, will I received a message on the phone when the OTA is available? Can I let it download then install through TWRP ?
If I'm reading correctly, the custom recovery will not let it install automatically (and maybe I don't want it to since it could wipe out TWRP). On reboot will TWRP prompt me to root the phone (that's how I got to root the first time).
If you're rooted, but with stock ROM, do you know for sure OTA updates won't go through? Thanks.

I believe the new versions of recovery will ask to keep the custom recovery and/or root. We'll see how the custom recoveries handle the OTA on the N5 and I'll update the post accordingly.

It all depends on how you gained root access. If you used cf-super boot it will not go through because it modifies the kernel.

What about cf auto root? From the description it looks like that only adds the root apps and nothing else.

Cf-auto root and super su should be fine as they don't modify the kernel.

Hi I would just like to confirm if the Nexus 5 is like my old HTC One in that I would receive OTA updates on a stock rom and stock recovery with a unlocked bootloader.

As long as everything is stock an unlocked bootloader does not effect an OTA.

Continue to Section C
Scenario #4
You are running a Custom ROM
Continue to Section C
Section C: Let’s get back to stock
You have two options to do this:
Option #1 Flash the KRT16M stock image. Follow @abaaaabbbb63 guide if you need help.
If you want to keep data intact flash only the boot.img, system.img, and recovery.img (optional)
OR
Option #2 Replace the stock images or .apk(s) you removed or modified.
Note: These must be the exact versions that shipped with the rom.

Just to be sure, flashing only boot.img and system.img will keep my apps and all user data, correct? I can live without the center clock mod and battery % for now.

I did it... everything booted correctly, my apps and settings were still there, but for what ever reason - my APN settings will not stay. I save it, and it takes me back to an empty menu. Any ideas?
Try pressing the menu button in apn's and reset to default.

Tried that. Says it's done, nothing comes up.
I tried searching for network as well but that didn't work either. The wifi works, but no network.
I restored a backup I made last night and it still isn't working. Any ideas?
Tried to do a system wipe then restore again

Hmmmm. I've never heard of that issue before. I'm not sure what else to try.

Official stock Android 6.0 Marshmallow 20i files for the T-Mobile LG G4 H811 variant only. Included below: TWRP-flashable stock rom, boot, modem and bootloader zips. Stock 20i KDZ and individual images are also included.
20i NOTES...
1. *AntiRollback / QFuse V2* Safe to downgrade to 10N only.
2. Marshmallow bootloader requires bootloader unlock via fastboot
Requirements:
You must have TWRP 2.8.7+ installed to use these zip files. Thanks to Dees_Troy as always for that. Or you need LGUP installed to flash the KDZ in download mode.
Install Directions:
You can install stock 20i M with zip files in TWRP or flashing a KDZ in LGUP or LG Bridge. Due to the new 20i bootloader fastboot oem unlock requirements there is almost no benefit in using one method over the other.. both KDZ or ZIP upgrade methods work. If coming from Lollipop there is no way to retain TWRP or root since the new bootloader has a new unlock method.
To flash via zip in TWRP:
1. Download LG-H81120i-Flashable.COMPLETE.zip place it on internal or external sdcard (external preferred).
2. (re)Boot into TWRP if not there already.
3.* Backup current partitions: boot, system, data, efs to external sdcard if possible (optional but suggested)
4.* Up to you if you want to wipe data (TWRP > Wipe > Swipe slider) but not needed if coming from a stock rom.
5. Install LG-H81120i-Flashable.COMPLETE.zip (Install > select zip > swipe to confirm/flash)
6. After zip finishes you can reboot into M! (if TWRP asks if you want to install SU, HIT NO!!!)
7. If you want root or TWRP follow the bootloader unlock directions in the next section below.
To flash via KDZ:
1. Easiest way to flash the KDZ is just using the official LG Bridge tool. You can grab it for Windows or Mac HERE
2. Alternative to LG Bridge is downloading the 20i KDZ yourself from the Codefire directory link further below then following the LGUP thread HERE for a how-to on KDZ flashing. .
3. If you want root or TWRP follow the bootloader unlock directions in the next section below.
Bootloader OEM Unlock + Root:
Starting with the Android 6.0 20i bootloader it has to be unlocked, sorta like a Nexus, with fastboot. Previously only 'OEM Unlock' had to be toggled in Android Developer settings for TWRP or custom boot images to work.
1. Flash stock 20i using zip or KDZ. Boot into Android after upgrade to 20i.
2. Download the twrp-2.8.7.1-h811.img file HERE. This file needs to be on your computer and external sdcard*.
3. Download the latest SuperSu zip (2.67+) from HERE [Thanks to Chainfire] and stick on external sdcard*.
4. Confirm "OEM Unlock" is set to enabled in the hidden Developer Settings.
5. Enable "USB Debugging" in Developer Settings, connect USB cable PC <-> Phone... and send the following 3 commands in command prompt/terminal:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader (phone reboots to bootloader)
fastboot oem unlock (this wipes ALL data!!)
fastboot boot twrp-2.8.7.1-h811.img (phone boots TWRP)
6. For perm TWRP: In TWRP hit Install > Images... (bottom right corner) > select TWRP.img on ext sdcard > select "recovery" > swipe.
7. If you want root: Hit the Home button > Install > select SuperSU zip on external sdcard > swipe.
8. All done. Reboot into Android. (if TWRP asks if you want to install SU, HIT NO!!!)
*if you do not have an external sdcard to save SuperSU and the TWRP.img onto.. you will need to skip saving the files to sdcard until AFTER you fastboot OEM unlock and boot into TWRP. After fastboot booting TWRP you can use adb push to put SuperSU and TWRP.img onto the internal sdcard to install with TWRP. Or you can use the MTP mount option in TWRP and drag n' drop the files from the computer to the phone. You cannot store the files on the internal sdcard before the OEM unlock because OEM unlock wipes all you data.
Please do not mirror my files!

Downgrade:
To downgrade you can use TWRP to restore your backups... and then just flash the matching bootloader zip and modem zip from my previous threads... or just check the CODEFIRE DIRECTORY link for previous stock files.
OR
Use LGUP HERE to flash a previous KDZ version. KDZ will remove TWRP but easy enough to reinstall that.

Feb 16 2016
I have edited the OP to suggest the 2.8.7.1 TWRP over the 3.0.0-0 version for now. I have had a few users in IRC tell me that after flashing 20i, unlocking bootloader, installing twrp then flashing CM13 causes some issues with data not mounting and some mention of "cannot find crypto footer". Will talk to dees_troy tomorrow hopefully and see what's what.... not sure if it's a TWRP issue.. or an LG issue or wat. But just in case.. using a known good working TWRP is the best bet for now.

Check out this post. Stated you need OEM Unlocked in Developer Options first:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62104913&postcount=3
Also to get to TWRP: completely shut down the phone. Remove the battery if you need to. Then when it's off, hold down Power and Vol Down buttons together. Then when the LG logo appears let go of Power Button for a second (still holding down Vol Down) , then hold the Power Button and Vol Down again. The factory reset screen comes back, click yes and yes. It will reboot into TWRP. (this is if you know for a fact TWRP is still there)

You wouldn't have it checked if you flashed the complete zip above. I'm guessing you would need to wipe all (except internal and/or sd card), then reflash the complete zip, boot into system. Check OEM unlocked in Dev Options. Then reboot back to recovery, flash SuperSU.
I'm thinking this would make it work, not sure though.

Safestrap is a Bootstrap / Recovery for locked bootloader phones. Safestrap is now based on TWRP Recovery (a touch based recovery) and you can perform .zip installs, backups and restores here.

This is the leaked Oreo for the ATT S7 Edge. I removed all ATT stuff and fix volte calling but wificalling does not work at the moment. This is For S7 Edge Only. It has Verizon CSC so it probably wont work on other carriers
Download:
G935AUCS4BRA1_OREO.zip
Directions:
Just note that you may end up having to wipe your internal storage so be prepared
You must be on Verizon Firmware either Nougat stock rooted or one of my Hybrid roms or stang5litre Nougat rom
You must be rooted with Flashfire installed
Download G935AUCS4BRA1_OREO.zip and unzip Copy FF_OREO_FIRMWARE.tar To Internal Phone Storage
In Flashfire select add firmware choose FF_OREO_FIRMWARE.tar and select all for images when you get flashfire warning about flashing protected partions do you want to split the flash select no
View attachment 4423085
Click add wipe and wipe data
Click to reboot to download after flash
Make sure inject supersu is not checked. Do Not Inject SuperSU
View attachment 4423084
Flash
When Phone reboots to recovery use odin and flash BL_G935AUCS4BRA1_OREO.tar in BL slot in odin
If you get corrupt storage message you will have to click reset and this will wipe your internal storage

Thank you for developing these Roms for our beloved s7 edge! I am going to flash this rom and see if i can get my gear s2 working with it as i have heard people are having issues. I will report back anything that seems broken and all of the exciting new features that work. I appreciate all of the time you put into these roms!
EDIT: I have noticed when I use Open gl (skia) as my renderer in development settings I get snappier performance and better battery life. Could someone else confirm this? If so would it be changed as default renderer when phone boots? I can set it in developer options but if I do a reboot it defaults back to open gl.
yessss!!!! will you make this for the other carriers esp. Tmobile
Incredible ! Thanks @jrkruse !
I am having problems transferring the large 5gb flashfire file over top my phones internal storage.

It was my usb cable. I was able to transfer the image over and flash it. all is good now. I am going to try to pair my gear s2. Also I am curious if my gear vr will work or complain like it did with the beta nougat rom from last year.

I couldn't get this rom to pair with my gear s2. It is fantastic though...very snappy! I was suprised to see the dual audio feature implimented on the s7...i thought it was a chipset feature only available on the s8. Everything else seems to work great! I noticed that the camera has the stickers feature.

Bluetooth is kind of wacky you can not control incall volume on bt but media is fine. Another issue is safetynet. It will pass basic integrity check but other check fails so some apps will work and some won't that use safetynet. Android pay is one that does not but samsung pay works fine as well as other samsung apps like secure folder and pass
