The camera on the nexus 6 is garbage compared to the s6. Other than that I loved the nexus.... but the camera is a deal breaker. Plus water resistance is nice too.

Still pics are great on the s6 but that's it. Anything slightly moving is blurry as hell so not sure that constitutes as great or not

It has been good for you yet. Don't try to update to OF3 or OF4. That's suck.
Keep you current version until we can root or get Android 5.1.1 or M. Because 5.0.2 has a big bug : pretty lags in used.
But the S6A gets lag too much. It can be fixed by disable some apps and better battery : All ATT apps, samsung push,, vv..
use this app and you can disable them.

Some developers used the older version to root it inside.
If the ATT improve security of S6A, it means 90% the OF4 or more will not get root .
I was bad when I updated to OF3, the battery drain to much.
Just keep the OE9 if you are in

Wut?
Battery drain on the latest firmware is not an issue at all. Actually I'm seeing better battery after installing it last night
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk

Like other people who unlocked the S6 to use in their home network, I would not be seeing this update, even though it is a good sign that AT&T is rolling out the Stagefright update
At the very least, I hope we get the stock rom image released eventually....

Kind of off topic, but using package disabler and selecting "disable all bloatware" has pretty much eliminated all lag for me.

The Build Quality and the processor are garbage too compared to the S6, I had a Nexus 6 and returned it.

Ditto, it's wonderful, kind of annoying I have to pay 2 bucks to remove stuff off my own phone, but I'm happy it at least exists

Will custom roms expand the Edge functionality?

Am going to buy an s6. If you guys think custom roms will really expand the edges' capabilities I will go with that. But if you guys honestly don't think there is much use for it, or hacking it will be easy/intuitive then I'll just opt for regular s6. Any input/opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I would assume the toughest part of any of that will actually be getting root, etc on the Verizon version.
All phones are tough to get root on. You know they'll do it.

Is the note 4 still not rooted? Sorry, I made a HUGE mistake switching from a s4 to a ip6. Now I'm looking to switch back. I got the iphone 6 because my s4 had loki , but then my insurance replacement did not have that exploit available. So to say the least I am not up to speed on roots but I didn't know there were still phones out that in the wild unrooted.

I don't believe it has root...I checked the bounty thread and it looked pretty active still. I'm jumping from the M8 so I'm not 100% sure on Samsung devices but I'm fairly certain they're really locked down on Verizon. I guess I'm just trying to not get my hopes up in case it doesn't happen with the VZW S6 but I've definitely got my fingers crossed!

That is what I am thinking as well. Then the question is - how much use can be squeezed out of the "edges" from the rom developers?

I would love root, don't get me wrong. I'm just not getting my hopes up because of the history with Samsung and Verizon. Let's keep our fingers crossed and if need be, get a bounty thread going once we start getting devices (if the current root method doesn't work with VZW).
I don't know if it will have root... The Note 3 lost root ever since updated to 4.4.4 with a new exploid Verizon did with kernel + bootloader and it hasnt been able to root.. I figure same would be for Note 4 on Verizon... S6 or S6E would be the same or worst... Plus I don't know if there will be any development support since this S6/S6E have Samsung's Exynos processor (Not open source).

The current method to root the s6 involves cf root which requires an unlocked bootloader... meaning chances that it will work in Verizon/AT&T is little to none. Let's hope that an exploit is found that will allow root

Yeah I think those are for the dev editions.
But if we can get root some how.
All we need is root I think if I'm not mistaken hsbadr as a similar work around to safestrap and MORE I think it was mentioned in one of his Jasmine threads if forgot will post link when I find it.
If we don't get root, and the devs around here don't find a way to expand on the limited Edge functions, then the Edge is a total gimmick. The Edge does not have separate screens for the edges like the Note. The S6 edge just has curved glass/screen. You can only use 1 edge at a time (you select left or right) - which is absurd for a dual edged phone. And you can only do about 4 basic things with it most Launchers have been able to do for years. So I pray it gets expanded on as right now... a clock, a news feed, basic notifications, 5 people/contacts, and ring colors for those 5 people/contacts is hardly that cool. For example, people/contact on 1 edge and say an app launcher on the other edge.

Downloading Android Upgrade 353MB

My wife told me she got an Android Upgrade over night. I am downloading as we speak. Hopefully it fixes the touchscreen misses.
@Brutal-Force What version it is?

Kernel version
3.10.49
Build number

I have no idea what updated. Personally I think it feels like more lag now, but it was very hot after update. Security update???
Just got the update downloaded as well. Which is odd as I followed the guide on using debloater to stop the updates...

Is there any carrier that allows you to rollback software versions? Carrier IQ is made for diagnostics for when something goes wrong with your phone. This helps them determine what is wrong with the device in order to further troubleshoot. With that said, AT&T also has this on their version.
Am I misunderstanding anything?

Haha yeah, good times.

Did you try Adblock Fast that is build into Samsung 4.0? Download from App store and then manually setup using instructions.
I'm using it on my S7 with zero issues and no ads. Of course, limited to Samsung browser.
I'm using adguard which sets up personal VPN on phone to block ads. Seems to work for all apps but does hit battery life a bit. Worth it for me.

Bootloaders are locked. Flash secured and all. All us carriers, not the exynos, but all us snapdragons, including tmobile. We are on twitter and got a response from John Legere who claims to be working on a potential solution to at least getting tmobiles unlocked. Historically we have always been fine, but for some reason we aren't now. Doesn't make sense for the exynos to unlocked and SD to be locked imo

I'm sure something will come up eventually. Us folks on ATT are used to being screwed with the locked bootloaders. Think it might be new for T-Mobile users though. It might take a little longer, but ATT Samsung devices typically get root after some point.
I've had it since launch, my Nexus 6 basically died. I miss the debloating root allows, like how I'm forced to have the Directv app when I don't have any interest in having Directv. I do like it though it's a nice phone. If we can get root to remove the bloatware I'm for that otherwise I'll live with it for a year until something better drops.

VPNs like Adguard don't "eat" battery. What your seeing is that the system attributes all battery used by apps that access the internet to the VPN.

Seems like Pre-Lollipop builds were always hacked for root. Also, at least on my S5 G900A, Pre-rooted 5.0 was able to be flashed as long as the BL was kept OA1 (KK 4.4.4). But if you took the OTA to 5.0, no root ever! Also they totally locked it down with 5.1. FU ATT!!!!:silly:
But they sure did get into that S6 pretty fast, didn't they? Go figure.
I applied to this Samsung Mobile Insights program. Might get a free G935A or G930A if accepted into it. I do not know how I will live without root, but at least it has a sdcard. I do not have a good feeling about a battery that does not come out though...

I like it its smooth and fast good battery so far I installed twrp and root so was able to remove a few apps i didn't use all together seems a bit better then the New Zealand release which I had also tried, plus seemed a little different too maybe different apps/features, but its really nice. So Far really liking it, Oh I noticed the Camera Seemed better too.
Has anyone seen this on Sam Mobile yet? I'm hoping to install this soon on my Tab S.

It's listed as Cellular South on Sammobile.

Got it installed OTA (had to manually pull it) last night on my Tab S 10.6 Wi-Fi T800 USA. Initial impressions are that it's definitely faster & smoother. Camera seems a touch faster to launch and focus but maybe it's just the placebo effect. Too early to tell on battery life yet. I sure wish they had tweaked the ROM a bit more and dumped the Hancom Office apps and replaced them with MS Office like on the Tab S2. Oh well. I can live without the major cosmetic changes too. I definitely feel like performance is finally back to where it was when this thing ran 4.4.4. It took absolutely forever but I am glad to see Samsung finally serving us a decent 6.0.1 build to put this fine tablet out to pasture in style.
Now, how about a Tab S3 10.5 refresh with Type-C, Samsung!?
Thanks Samsung by hearing us! We love you!

Finally after months and months waiting after Marshmallow update, it's good to get it ready installed. Additionally, besides the good results testing it last day, I'd like to add that the security update is dated August, 2016, that it's good after all the issues in all Android devices due the backdoors identified and all the Trojan risks. No themes available (like at S6/S7 marshmallow versions), but more reliable and long lasting operation due the battery management. Really, really thanks Samsung! For me, Tab S still will be rocking for a while, I don't like the screen format copied from Apple in S2, I'd like the Tab S screen size 16:9 instead 4:3...no compliance, right now just compliments for you Samsung!!! I'll continue being a real fan and loyal customer for really good things, and technologically speaking, Samsung always does the best (they accepted immediately replace all Note 7 devices once they validated the battery issue, only biggest brands accepts and fix their mistakes immediately).. we're human beings!!
Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 SM-T800 Wifi US (English) device with official marshmallow update running like a charm!!

I'm rooted so I can't get it OTA. The New Zealand version works but I'm going to flash the U.S. version now.

How'd this work out for you? Did you flash the US version on top of the NZ version? No problems?
US Version
The US version would be the "Cellular South" firmware:

Yes I used Odin to flash it over the New Zealand version. I didn't notice any differences yet but I haven't really spent much time checking it out. I really wanted to do a factory reset before flashing but It takes me days to reinstall and reconfigure everything and I'm too lazy to go through that again.
Hi just a newbie here, I'm from the Philippines. I would like to ask if the US marshmallow update will work with my Tab S even if my Tab is not a US variant? I will do the flash thing. the size of the US update is 1.6 Gb. Thank you.

update already getting pushed

Bloody hell,I literally just today reenabled updates tonight and got an update pushed to me. 1. Should I take it? 2. What is changing? 3. Can I not take it somehow if I want to wait? 4. Can I later still accept it and do it?

Why wouldn't you take it? S8 had no issues with root, with all updates.
In BK disabler, search for SDM and disable the 2 packages. Bye OF A. I also disabled them in developer options. This is for Verizon, not sure about others.
Also, just curious if there will be an official XDA Verizon n8 forum.

People moan when they don't receive updates and moan when they do? I would advise you don't take the updates, Last thing you want is Samsung looking after your device.
Ryland
4K 60fps?
I heard from another post on here, thats its a bluetooth security fix.
But dont know. I disable updates. It seems like after a few the phone starts to run slow
Any body know if the unlocked version has this update I'm waiting I'm mine. I plan to wait and see if root comes. Also because of the WiFi hotspot being unlocked out of the box. What if this update blocks this.

Updated my unlocked September 16th. So happy they’re keeping up with the carriers on their updates! Seems a little smoother to me. Still no swipe down on the home page to get the notification panel to expand though. Looks like I’ll have to update home wiz to get it.
