Certifi-gate attacks possible: Our phones currently show as vulnerable - Sprint LG G4

The following scanner shows that our Sprint LG G4 is vulnerable to the Certifi-gate exploits:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.checkpoint.capsulescanner
Has LG or Sprint mentioned when they might address this vulnerability in our phones?

I believe Lg will be rolling out monthly security updates. As for when we will see them.....your guess is as good as mine.
A temporary "fix"( take that with a grain of salt) disable auto retrieve for mms.
Or download textra it comes with stagefreight protection.

No prop not to root 6.0 i believe has to have unlocked bl because bl also checks sytem intregity and root has something in bl maybe. I believe root on 6.0 has to have a modded kernal which has to have bl unlocked

[Q] Not up to date with S5 at all. Update to Lollipop and keep root?

My girlfriend has an AT&T Galaxy S5. She's on Android version 4.4.2 (baseband version G900AUCU2AND3, build number KOT49H.G900AUCU2AND3). She's rooted with towelroot.
She's very keen on updating to Lollipop. The reason for this is that she's a very avid photographer and takes many shots on her phone. She is REALLY interested in trying out the RAW image processing.
I'd just like to know if she can update and keep root. So if anyone could help me out here or point me in the right direction since I don't know my way around this forum, that would be fantastic. Thank you very much.
Once we get a leak or the actual release, we won't know what Lollipop will have in store for the Dev's root wise. Everything now is speculative though the International version(G900F) has had good success with root and Lollipop.

The g900f, which is the over seas version, has had a limited release with lollipop. AT&T version, G900A, does not have lollipop yet.

No AT&T release as of yet, and even when (IF) it does drop and IF root is obtainable it is a longshot whether or not we will have SafeStrap or any other type of custom recovery

No, but considering T-Mobile already sent theirs out, i'm sure it won't be too long before it hits the AT&T variant

If it means the update doesn't "suck" i'm okay with waiting a while longer.
Now, will we have same rooting issue if we're on rooted 5.0 or do yall think it'll be more of a hot-fix than a bootloader update?

Good chance that 5.1.1 will be completely unrootable on locked bootloader devices.

Agreed, however, by that time, it probably won't matter for me. I highly regret taking the 5.0 update before doing root. I'm sick of not having the options I want with this phone and the daily freezes. As a long time AT&T customer with a grandfathered unlimited plan (not that that means anything, they throttle at 5GB, which I swear the FCC said was illegal), I'm about to eat the early termination fee and go to Project Fi with a Nexus 6.

Not likely, it appears the only way to root 5.1 will be a custom rooted kernel which is out of the question for locked bl devices. Seems the end of root access on locked bl devices is not far away.

Well that is some sad news @muniz_ri. If you say you cannot do your usual magic, then i guess we are all sunk. I always check up on 5.whatever and it said it was out and i was hoping you would be able to modify it and keep the OA1 BL like you usually do....just to try it of course. Stock is not for many of us as you know. I will keep watching though. My installments are not done until 06-2016 and was hoping to maybe get an LG G4, but they dont seem to be having all that much luck with it, but i hear it is now rooted. by then, who knows. not a lot of money here. Thanks for you and others for keeping our device alive. I would never get an S6 or another Samsung I think. Between them and ATT, they are choking many of us. Ok, thanks again for all your hard work. Maybe u will come across something.

Yeah, I just spent the past 3 days looking into rooting my new S6.
I got it barely a week ago and I was really excited to finally have a phone I could root, only to learn that I got the first new phone that you can't. I might have had a chance to keep 5.0.2? Whatever, but by the time I synced by Google account, I found out I had the 5.1.1 version, with no way to go back.
More experienced users, please correct me here. I am largely posting this to consolidate what I've gathered.
As I understand it, 5.1.1 prevents a clean downgrade to any other Android OS by just not allowing the option.
When I went to turn off automatic software updates, I was faced with an option to check for updates, or go "take a hike" per se. It seems like you may be able to flash a version that can be rooted for the AT&T version (G920A), but you trip the KNOX security thing which will void your warranty. From what I can see, a lot of people are just deciding to go without root, or go without the phone. I have seen a thread or 2 (out of DOZENS on this) that say methods may be in the works, but everyone seems too afraid to try anything.
Keep in mind that I say methods for a reason. Nothing seems to be cut and dry for us as AT&T users to begin with, but this 5.1.1 update when downloaded OTA and all legit and whatnot is a real death sentence for those looking to root.
I'm keeping my eyes and ears open for news, but we're going to have a while to wait before we get to join the fun.

Not sure how this can be made any more clear. We have a thorough and two very simple explanations on the entire one page of this thread so far. I'm not trying to police it, but when I get updates for the thread, I'm hoping for something a little bit beyond the already answered questions yo.
I can only imagine devs are working on a miracle of sorts to change this fact, but it remains a fact until some magic solution is both discovered AND verified as far as I'm concerned.
jinishpv, I think you mean you compiled the .img file to Windows..? If so, MagicISO is a Windows app you can use to add, delete, extract or update files contained in an .img file. I hear what all of you are saying about 5.1.1 bootloader, and yes I'm in the same boat w/ safestrap rooted still on 5.02 of4, but jinishpv asked a tangent question and I didn't think it would hurt to help a fellow xda member out.
Any updates on this besides the private root being sold all over the web for $100-$120 each or $30 -$40 for remote unlock for G920A, G925A, G928A and G890A?
The good news thatotherguy.. found a way to root s6 and s6 edge. the bad news it is unstable. He's working on it with other devs. I'm assuming he/they will release it after the release after GS7 (to check if GS7 is vulnerable too?)
My G920A is working fine so far rooted on 5.1.1 OJ7 (yes I paid $40 for remote unlock LOL).

Prove you're rooted.
And if so where did you buy a "remote unlock" to unlock the bootloader.
I can root G920A 5.1.1. I will not give away the file, but I will root it for you.

AT&T Galaxy S5 - Can I root after Marshmallow Update?

Hello forum,
I am one of the unfortunates that didn't root my phone prior to downloading the Lollipop 5.1.1 update. So I found out no root due to bootloader lock down. I have three questions:
1. When will the marshmallow update hit for AT&T S5 (900A);
2. After upgrading to marshmallow will I be able to root again; and
3. If yes, which root method will work on my new marshmallow S5?
I truly appreciate all the help! Thank you!
i saw on a leaked slide a while ago its been readyto be released since feb or march but prob wont be till may
Probably around summer would be a guess. As for root, it's highly unlikely for marshmallow

With AT&T branded phones do not expect being able to root, or unlock your bootloader.... You would probably discover the lost city of Atlantis before that ever happens.
I doubt any existing root method will work with 6.0, you'll have to wait for a new exploit to be found and released to the public. See this post in another thread:
muniz_ri said:
Unfortunately 6.0 requires the 6.0 bootloader in order to run. I believe Samsung has now completely achieved preventing root on locked bootloader devices with the release of 6.0.

If your phone is the verizon or amazon variant and you would like to ever have a chance to unlock your bootloader, this update will block the only known exploit. Beware!!!
I have an Amazon variant. Which exploit are you talking of?

I did a minor amount of digging and reading, and did see a 100% definite mention that the xt1609 verizon variant is able to be unlocked with this method. It needs to be ported to g4 play, specifically, but there is a table at the bottom of the github page that specifically notes the verizon variant as having been successfully unlocked by someone who has not submitted their port...though i sure wish they would!!! I will be the first to admit, I'm noob, at best, but I'm doing my best to translate and understand the instructions given to get this exploit ported. It will need testing, and said tester will need to have an extensive understanding of terminal command, and be in possession of an amazon or verizon variant. i make no promises, but just know that it is being looked into, and i will offer no eta. So please do not ask or contact me for one. I will post publicly if and when I need testers for the exploit. In the meantime, deny any and all update notifications.
