anyway to insert speech language on system directory? - Windows Phone 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi, I have an interop unlocked Lumia 830, and i've installed windows 10 mobile preview on this, but I can't download speech languages, is there anyway to put this on the C: folder on phone with full file system access and interop unlock?

This can only be doned before you upgrade to WM10.

I used to make a copy of DUShared directory on my PC. Every time i install wm10 interopunlock, full acces System , copy, update phone...install
EDIT: create those directories inside DUShared. Extract and copy inside DUShared the updateimput.xml file.
extract and copy inside PackagesToInstall directoy the speeech files from my ondrive account.

when I click to search updates it tell that the phone was updated, what is the process?

I think:
1)copy those files in phone folders.
2)speech, ad language-download,
3)settings, update.
Or only 1 and 3.

I think i have only one part of packagestoinstall. Only cortana in spanish is talking

Maps not found!

Hello,
Have installed TomTom 5.1 but the program does not find the maps located on my SD-card. Is there a setting somewhere to tell TomTom where to find the maps??
Finicky program.
from my blog, http://www.beyondthetech.com/blogs/kjam/2005/10/surefire-method-of-installing-tomtom.html
...
On your desktop, launch Notepad.
Type & \Storage Card\New-England_and_Mid-Atlantic-Map\ or whatever the name of your main map folder is on your mini-SD card. Do not forget to add the final backslash and a have a space between the ampersand and the first backslash.
Save the file as CurrentMap.dat. Make sure it doesn't end up as CurrentMap.dat.txt!
Create a folder on your K-JAM called \My Documents\TomTom.
Copy your newly created CurrentMap.dat file from your desktop into \My Documents\TomTom on your K-JAM.
...
Wierd...dosent work.
Have created the CurrentMap.dat -file and made sure that it does not have the .txt extension.
Have created the Folder /My Documents/TomTom and put the file there
As I have a Swedish version of OS I also created the Swedish version on that map...also tried to copy the file to the /program/Navigator folder where the exe file is located.
Have done a complete reboot but the program stil don't find the maps...
Also made sure the Path and spelling was correkt "& \Storage Card\Scandinavian-Maps\"
Is not Scandinavian.Maps but *.Map. Also you not have to create a folder My documents because this folfer already exists in PDA storage. Is a system folder.
Yeah, infact it says "& \Storage Card \Scandinavia-Map\" witch I have verified on the storage card to be the correct folder name.
And you are right..I did not created the acctual My Documents folder but the TomTom folder was created.
Have looked at a friends CurrentMap.dat file (where TomTom works) but there seem to also be some other data that the TomTom software probably creates...my guess would be it's binary data. Have tried to copy my friends file to my K-Jam but stil no success.
Same problem here, tried all options I can come up with, and as soon as I revert back to tomtom 5 the map is found again.
Which lead me to believe that the "currentmap.dat" file at least is correct, or have they changed somtething with it in v 5.1 ?
fahlis: The update doesn't change anything in \my documents\tomtom folder.
Sedvese: my curentMap file is as follows: \SD Card\Iberia_Plus-Map\
If you want I can sen you the file, you open it with notepad and replace Iberia_Plus-Map by Scandinavia-Map. Who knows it can fix your problem.

How do I get CAB & winRAR files onto my XDA11i ??

I have been searching for some programs for my XDA11i but although some just provide a link to download straight onto my XDA alot do not .
As you probably know many progs just give you a CAB file or winRAR folder I have no idea where to put it ... ie ... in the XDA windows folder , or temp folder etc ..
Sorry to be a pain but please keep the explanation SIMPLE !
Thanks .
I use my storage card as default.
Cab files go direct to the card.
I check to see if the RAR files need to be unpacked first then transfer to card in device
So I just copy and paste the files directly onto my SD storage card ??
Yep,
then you run them by double tapping and that is it....
Is that CAB files or WinRAR ones OR both ?

do not unpack cab files only unpack rar files on your pc, also many cab`s will only run from the phones memory not the sd card, just transfere them using activesync, select explore and drag and drop then run them from your phone with file manager buy clicking on them were u put them

Error when trying to replace ddl file in windows directory

Hi,
I wanted to customize my htc touch pro a little bit by changing the battery icon, but that requires me to replace a ddl file, but heres the problem, i cant replace it
I cant replace it using the total commander on the phone, and not using my windows when connected to my computer.
Does anyone know how i can remove the limitations so i can replace ddl files in the windows directory?
Using Windows Mobile 6.1
In total commander, copy the file to the \Temp folder. Then CUT the file from temp, and paste it into \Windows. That should work.
If that still doesn't work, you can try this:
Rename the original dll in \Windows (I like to add a new suffix like .old with Total Commander).
Copy the file into temp.
Cut/paste from temp to windows.
Reboot phone.
If THAT doesn't work, then I don't know what to tell you.
Are you on a custom or stock ROM?
If it's a stock ROM, you will need to install Security Certificates in order for the .DLL to work.
Additionally, it is possible that Security Policies are in place that prevent execution of of .DLL that are unsigned.
HTH,

I Need Helping Making A Custom update.zip

So I guess my question is, "Can anyone help me?"
I used custom ringtones, and I don't like using them from the SD card, it creates lag, takes longer to load the ringtone, etc, so I keep them on my /system/media folder. Normally to accomplish this, when I install a new ROM update, I edit it and resign it, with my media folder, rather than the ROM's.
My predicament however, is that I don't know how to change the file structure for the update, I know there are files in the update that say, this and this folder exist, where this goes, etc. This is what I don't know how to do.
All I need the update to do is contain the media (/system/media) folder, so I can just add all my ringtones and notifications to this update, and flash it after I flash whatever update/rom, etc, instead of always having to be at my computer to create a custom version of every rom I use.
Could anyone please care to help? I'd be ever grateful.
You can use the attached file.
Just edit the files in the ROM
zip it
put the zipped ROM in the same folder as the attached files
run sign.bat
FLASH

is this just to be used for signing? i already know how to sign files. i need someone to edit w/e files are inside the rom that tell its structure (this folder exists, and gets flashed here, this folder goes here, etc). i cant just take a cm rom and delete everything i dont need then flash it. it will get errors in recovery.
Make a folder called media in the root of your update, and create the proper descending folders in media (i.e. audio/ringtones, etc). Place your notifications/ringtones/alarms etc in the proper folders. (I am sure you understand this already)
Open your update-script file for the update and add the line
Code:
copy_dir PACKAGE:media SYSTEM:media
That should do it.
Note that if in the update-script you already have an entire system folder being copied over via
Code:
copy_dir PACKAGE:system SYSTEM:
then you need only add the folder media to the folder /system in the update.

After Downloading @ HD7 where can I find download flie?

Hello,
I would like to know how can I find the downloaded files in HTC HD7 with WP7?
I have downloaded files from my hotmail.
It says downloading when download is finish,I can't open the file.
WP said Can't open attachment.
(There's no application associated with this file type)
I'd like to know where this downloaded attached files saved in phone.
I looked for the files by using TouchXplorer but I can't make it at all.
I have Registry Editor, TouchXplorer and my OS version is 7389.
Can someone give me an idea?
Thank in advance!
i think that file can't be accepted with wp7.
yes Ttblondey ,
I am trying to install .ttf , wp7 can't accepted.
But the download was finished.
I wonder if I can find this downloaded file.
I have chance to move to Windows\Fonts folder
The system does not work that way. Once you download an attachment, it gets stored by Outlook in some encrypted, hidden file somewhere that can only be accessed through the e-mail app. If the phone can't read it, then you are pretty much out of luck.
You are not meant to have file system access, so WP7 works very differently than a computer with file system access. Opening files that the OS does not support is not something you can do... yet.

Sent from my GT-I9000
Thank for all your advice.
I attached as a txt file to hotmail.
It saved as to the office hab. By using TouchXplorer, I found my text file under Document Folder. I changed file extension to .ttf.
Copy & paste at Windows\Fonts
can't do yet to change fonts in WP OS , still trying
