Got the SM-N910T3 - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I went to T-mobile today and walked out of the store with SM-N910T3 on 5.1.1 N910T3UVU1DOFC and pending an update of the stagefright (N910T3UVU1DOG1/N910T3TMB1DOG1/N910T3UVU1DOG1).
My question, is this common to be the SM-910T3 instead of just T? Would I be able to root it? I have been searching and I have not found anything yet.

Go into your dialer and enter *#12580*369#
That will tell you the exact hardware revision number.
It's a lot more accurate because the information it displays does
not come from the editable build.prop file, but it comes from the
actual hardware in the phone.
Have a great day,
Thanks for the help.

That twrp in your link is for the Canadian version of the phone N910W8, is that the version you wanted to try?
If not, here is the USA N910T version of twrp 2.8.7.0 which is the newest twrp which everyone with N910T are using.
Here is a download link for twrp 2.8.7.0 for N910T Tmobile Note 4:

hmm... the only annoying thing is, to get out of DOWNLOAD MODE, you have to take out the battery.
on the Galaxy S you can hold Power until it turns off

[ROM][STOCK]Sprint One Stock Odex and Deodex 1.29.651.7 || Updated 4.24.13 ||

This is an old build! Please see the updated build (1.29.651.10) located here.
Here is an almost stock 1.29.651.7 ROM, both Odex and Deodex, based on my Sprint One system dump. I flashed both and everything appears to work fine. If anyone finds an issue, I will correct it and re-upload. You can flash this right after you flash TWRP (read below), as this has root and system rw protection already disabled (read here).

Pretty excited to see you here Viper, always liked both your and mikey's roms on my various phones. Happy to see you come over!
So at this point is there any value in waiting for root/s-off without dev unlock or should we just take the plunge when our phones get here Friday? I had S-off on my 4GLTE but read there were issues for those that had to S-on/dev unlock. Just don't want to be in that position although I don't know much about what they had to deal with specifically.
Thanks again for creating roms!

Also, can you test to see if wireless tether is working now that you have root access? I have a tradeshow I will be traveling to next week and would really love to not have to pay for internet in my hotel and on the tradeshow floor.
Thanks!

It's always nice to have S-OFF, but right now, it doesn't seem like it's going to be a big deal. I worked around the goofyness of recovery not being able to write the boot.img, I do it a different way and know it works for sure so there should be no issues when flashing ROMs.
As far as wifi tether, I just fired it up. Grabbed the latest from the Play Store, and changed 3 settings to make it work.
Settings > Change Device Profile > Generic ICS/JB (wlan0)
Check MSS Clamping
Check Routing fix
I also enable access control so I can see who is connecting, but I successfully got my computer to get online by using this.

I'm not sure what you're asking, but I think I quite clearly explained how this was different from "out of the box" in the first post.
The only other thing that would be different is that it's missing some apps that were in /data/app. HTC thought it would be a good idea to put these apps there (for whatever reason) but when you dev unlock, it wipes data and those apps. This was a problem on the International One as well. I will try to get that fixed here too, but I don't remember the apps being anything too important.

Sorry for the super newb question but would it be possible for someone to write up a basic guide on how to get this working (rooting then installing one of these stock ROMs from this thread)? I am use to having a device with a microSD card slot so not quite sure how to flash zips especially after doing a superwipe. From what I gather, the steps go something like this:
1. HTC dev unlock
2. Use the Toolkit to flash TWRP
3. Use the Toolkit to "Perm Root." Does this just push SuperSU.zip to the device then do I need to actually go in and run it from recovery? Or will it do that automatically?
4. Do a superwipe. Do I just copy the superwipe file to the device then run it from recovery? I assume this file completely wipes the device so not even the OS is present?
5. Install the deodex or odex ROM from this thread but how do I do that without a microSD card slot?
Again, sorry about all the basic questions but if someone wouldn't mind coming up with a detailed step by step guide for the newbs, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hey guys,
Please find the 2 latest firmware for the galaxy Tab 3 SM-T217S for Sprint.
Flash through Odin 3.09 ONLY. It ill stay on boot for atleast 5 to 10mins [Be Patient]
Not responsible if you brick your phone because you don't know what you were doing.
Not taking credit for this since it's pretty easy to do and I did not see a thread related to this

Not taking credit for this since it's pretty easy to do and I did not see a thread related to this

Any thoughts?
I'm pretty sure you got a bad download. My link was broken due to high traffic so you probably didn't get the full file. I updated the link for the B8 you should be good. It takes forever just to upload 2GB onto a public uploading site lol.
Sorry about that bro.

Thanks for the reply, it looks like it was actually my computer. I had to flash it through Heimdall instead of Odin through a VM. So I'm good to go, thanks for the link!

That's right this is the full stock firmware with stock recovery and everything, but it is the latest one in case you want to start from scratch.

I have the firmwares since it first came out on my site as well.... and made STOCK ODEX NOT ROOTED roms... Im on firmware MH9.. when I flash my NB8 roms wifi isn't working,
You can confirm using ODIN and flashing the new firmware wifi works without issues.. that is my question... can you still root the NB8..
that is why I haven't done ODIN yet, on the NB8.

Pretty neat dude. well yes, i can definitely confirm that i can still root my NB8. In fact i did but only 1 issue and it wasn't the wifi. My issue was the GPS was not being accurate so i reflashed the stock firmware. I updated OTA to NB8 not through ODIN so I'm uncertain why your wifi didn't work. The only time my wifi didn't work was when i tried flashing Mijjaj's custom ROM and the only way to get it back was reflashing the stock firmware because not even my nand backup would fix it. Can you relate?
This is 4.4.2 kit Kat?

★ What do you mean by "Safe Upgrade"?
The latest N910VVRU2BOG5 bootloader is incremented; i.e., if you take the OTA or flash the official firmware via Odin, you won't be able to downgrade.
For Retail Edition: This is very important if you want to gain ROOT access when available & keep it over OTAs then.
For Developer Edition: If the bootloader is incremented with any coming OTA, it'll block your unlocked bootloader for good & you'll end up with a Retail Edition.

Yup. It's the best device available considering Note 5 as a downgrade except for the design that most users cover with a case anyway!

Under special instructions, it says to flash the OAF bootloader if coming from Kit Kat (I'm on NJ5). When are we supposed to do this? After we flash the OG5 stockrestore and reboot?

1st, that'sonly for the retail edition. Then, you can do it anytime to fix the auto-brightness issues with KK bootloader. That being said, it's recommended to flash OG5 stock restore & reboot again to download mode to flash OAF bootloader, before the 1st boot.
Okay that's what I was going to do. So I'd be fine to stay on my current bootloader if I don't care about the auto brightness?

Yes, but why?
I guess as long as it is still able to be downgraded, it doesn't matter. It's not like the new one would help me in any way though.

For some reason I thought that flashing the BOG5 upgrade would wipe the whole phone and reset me to a literal "factory fresh" state. But apparently, it left EVERYTHING in tact, but DID still do the upgrade. I wanted to start fresh so I could go back to a clean system and start over. So I had to do a factory reset. No biggie. Just wanted a clean slate. Looks like Im back up and running smooth. I was on BOAF bootloader already, so I didnt flash the bootloader again this time. I should still be good, right? Havent checked the bootloader post-flash yet.
Also @hsbadr, do you mind if I mirror your Safe Upgrade files on my website/server? Always ask before I do anything. Links to my site in my signature. Also, I can include any direct links back here, or two another location of your choosing. All proper credits given.

NP! If you followed OP instructions, you'll wipe data (factory reset) in recovery, before 1st boot.
I actually did a factory reset AFTER first boot. Any real difference in effectiveness? Seems to be good.

OK, so I've started to upload all 5 stock firmwares (ANI1 through BOG5), as well as both Safe Upgrades by @hsbadr (BOF1 and BOG5). At the speed of my home cable, it will take at least a day, maybe more. Still working on the site layout, instructions, and links. When its finished, I will post a link to the site as well as directly to the Note 4 section.

Yes, but all the info that I'm adding to my site, is scattered throughout various threads and other webpages. I'm making a centralized location for everything. No more mass bookmarks, remembering threads, and since my site is highly optimized, it should save a LOT of data for those that browse on their phone. I also re-compressed all the huge files, shrinking them by about 300MB each to save some bandwidth.
Just picked up a note4 yesterday, it has N910VVRU2BOF1 on it and there is an OTA I'm not taking. I'm guessing the OTA is 2BOG5?
Anyway, will this work for me coming from a stock/retail N910VVRU2BOF1 phone?
Thanks in advance!

[ROM] [SM-A700F] [TOUCHWIZ] Debloated, Deknoxed, Deodexed, Rooted.

This is basically a lightly debloated, deknoxed, deodexed, rooted rom based on A700FXXU2BOL3_XEF firmware.
It is highly likely you will need to be running A700FXXU2BOL3 based firmware before installing this rom or you may have problems with stuff like wifi not turning on.

I don't think you can just remove Touchwiz.
But for starters you can choose a different Launcher. I use Nova. Much better......

You absolutely cannot flash this on your variant. The above rom is aimed towards the A700F. Don't even try flashing it or you may brick your phone.

Did you ensure you updated to the same firmware base first before flashing?
Loss of 4g is baseband related to a mismatched firmware.
I installed and it is ok!VERY good rom,can you make more goodies like battery ram management, cpu management visuals etc?
