IMEI Issues, still! - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I wrote a brief thread regarding my phone before...
I'll just give the details:
I'm the second owner, phone died while updating.
Phone was bootloader unlocked, and with TWRP recovery.
As such, baseband and IMEI info are missing, I have the original IMEI but, no efs backup or anything.
Any ideas? I've tried to re-install factory stock via both Skipsoft Toolkit and another Toolkit [Yes, I realize this is no help, now]
I've heard restoring another EFS from another phone may work...? I don't know though, I have two Nexus 5's and I can pull an EFS just to try to get back my original IMEI or I've read EFS Pro could help but, again I'm quite lost and just need a hand here.
Thanks.

Ive been an active user on this forum and the rules is that you cant discuss changing the imei here, because its illegal in many countries

No changing!
I'm not discussing changing anything, I just want to repair my missing imei!
It was lost and I can't get a signal on any carrier without one.
I have my original IMEI and just want to restore it.

here's a silly question.. how did you lose your imei? its not an issue on the n6 like earlier nexus phones, people just dont accidentally lose their imei, or their efs., unless they are restoring a nandroid from another phone, that has their efs backed up also..

In all fairness, I don't know the fine tuned point at which the IMEI was lost but, it was shortly after the bootloader unlock and installation of TWRP. At two points, errors were made:
First: Phone died during an update
Second: I hard reset the phone after the update during which the phone loading and I was stuck in a bootloop, when really it just takes a while to load after a full wipe and install.
Yes, I realize that my actions were novice and especially not backing up my EFS or doing a NANDROID backup. In all fairness, I only backup my EFS or NAND on a handful of phone usually ones I frequently flash or my daily driver.
There's a few threads regarding the same issue but, no one is really assisting much in solving it...
I'm not a criminal here, I just want to get my phone back to it's original awesomeness!
Thanks
Sidenote: I did mess around with Titanium Backup but, I don't see that erasing my IMEI.

If know the IEMI for your device there are threads on XDA that may restore it. If don't know the original IEMI you are dead in the water from the get go.

i dont think that you are a criminal, seriously. i was just curious, as on the n5 and n4 that happens often. it really does happen very rarely on a n6. i think the phone dying while updating might of done it. if your bootloader is still unlocked, flashing the factory image might help you. but you will have to do it right, via fastboot while youre in the bootloader. dont use any toolkits, seriously!

I do appreciate the help, I'm going to try flashing the factory image right image see if that helps. Fingers crossed, I'll update with my results. prdog1, you wouldn't happen to know of those threads at all, in case of failure with my factory image.
Thanks, I do appreciate the suggestions. I want to fix this for me and whomever has any issues in the future.

Some VERY curious thoughts! I wasn't paying much attention until after losing my IMEI but, I've noticed a few things! For anyone that has lost an IMEI on your Nexus 6 in you scroll through your bootloader and go to "Barcodes" option, your IMEI is there! Anywho, back to my dilema.
I'm on 5.0.1 LRX22C
Now when re-flashing stock I noticed it would end up failed every time, with flash all or individually flashing items.
I noticed that my bootloader is 71.08 and 5.0.1 is 71.05 can anyone tell me which is 71.08 as there are three 5.1.0 stocks and I want to have the right one that corresponds to 71.08 bootloader.
For further help my full baseband on my phone is D4.0-9625-02.55.04 which incidentally belongs to 5.0.1, I'm thinking this mismatch may be one of my issues.
And thanks, simms22 for the guide, I'm downloading 5.1.0 right now. I'll keep consistent updates!

flash 5.1.1, its the latest. and when you flash a factory image, itll replace the bootloader with whats included in the factory image. oh, btw, do not use flash-all, it wont work, its broken. flash the separate image files individually.

Fingers crossed!

Flashed 5.1.1, fingers crossed. It's been about 27-ish minutes and it's still loading the first boot!
UPDATE: I'm at an hour now, waiting for first boot. Doesn't seem to be a bootloop, any ideas
UPDATE: An hour and a half, still booting.... may need to try something else.

wipe the phone, factory reset i mean
(sorry for getting back so late)

The same thing just happened to me, I had Cyanogenmod 12.1 on my phone, it was a nightly that I did on the 27th of last month. Like two days ago around noon, the phone was charging and it just lost all signal so I rebooted the phone and still the same thing, on the top it said that the phone had no sim card inserted. So I powered off the phone and removed the sim card and started the phone then I powered off and inserted the sim card and nothing, I updated to the newest nightly and nothing. Then I wiped the whole phone and flashed the newest nexus 6 factory image for t-mobile and still nothing. The thing that sucks is that I did backup my efs partition but I just updated the pc to windows 10 and I deleted the old.windows files so I am out of luck. I'm planning on taking it to T-Mobile and hopefully I can get a new one or get this one fixed. I hope you find a fix.

That doesn't mean your IMEI is broken or missing. You made no mention of checking it in the about phone section or in the dialer by input *#06#. It's likely that your SIM card is just broken. The IMEI doesn't just wipe itself out.
---------- Post added at 05:12 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:07 AM ----------
The same goes for the OP. I see few people claiming that root, TWRP or failing an install of a ROM wiped out their IMEI. Yet none take into account that maybe their SIM is broken, or the phone may be flagged, etc. Especially when one is not the first owner of the device.
I'm telling you guys that literally none of those things mess with the IMEI and all things stated lead me to believe that it is not an issue.

The IMEI is stored in the CID partition. The CID is a small datablock containing the processor UID, Channel ID (different CID), a bootloader unlock flag, and IMEI. The CID is unique to each device, and controls several aspects of the device. This datablock has a signature on it so that your device information cannot be modified. Should you corrupt this partition, you will lose your IMEI, and the ability to unlock your bootloader. This is the only likely scenario in which you lost your IMEI. If you boot into your bootloader, you may see an error similar to
Code:
CID Datablock Error! 0xDEAD
otherwise I'm going to assume that is still intact. The IMEI has not been stored in the EFS for many years now. Check your CID on the device and make sure it's not 0xDEAD.

Hi, my wife has an iPhone 6S and I put her sim card into my sim slot and it still showed as no sim card after booting it up. Is there something else I can do? I am the first owner of this phone, I bought it from T-Mobile. I did try to go into the dialer and it force closes the app after I input *#06#.
---------- Post added at 05:35 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:29 AM ----------
Hi how can I check if the CID has been corrupted? I recently locked my bootloader luckily I had a custom recovery and was able to flash a rom and get into the developer settings to enable oem unlock and I unlocked it again.

Did you seriously just ask an iPhone question? ???
Seriously though, bring it back to T-Mobile.

Lol, no, I knew I shouldn't of put that she had a iPhone 6S, now I will never be helped. I am just saying that I used a different sim card to make sure that it wasn't the sim card that was messed up.

You can check by running the command
Code:
fastboot getvar all
in fastboot/bootloader mode.
You should see something like this:
Code:
(bootloader) cid: 0x00DE
(bootloader) channelid: 0x00
The CID should be 0x00DE if it is not corrupt.

[Q] Purchased Used Nexus 6. Not locked out

I recently purchased a nexus 6 off ebay, likely a mistake, and now that I try to run the setup i can't because i'm not the original account on the phone. Is there anything I can do to get past this step, remove the old user account and add myself to the phone? I know the security measure was put in for a reason, but it definitely makes it hard when someone like me gets the phone and is now stuck with a good looking paperweight. I have tried contacting the seller and getting them to provide me with their info for the purposes of setting it up but they are reluctant to offer that up. Unsurprisingly.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,

I'm sorry but the only way is with that password. This is fault of the seller, they did a factory reset without removing their Google account. If the seller won't help you, contact eBay resolution center.
@fkoulbot,
Unfortunately, plenty of threads here with the same situation.
What @Evolution_Freak said, or open a PayPal claim. Device "Significantly Not As Described". You'll get your money back.
Or, just post it back to him at his expense, and get him to do it properly.
"Hi,
I understand that you feel uncomfortable giving me your Google password. Since the phone is unusable without it, I will have to consider opening a paypal dispute.
To avoid this however, if you offered to cover the cost of 2 way postage of the device (+insurance), I could send the device to you to log into and remove your account properly before resetting and returning to me."

Hey, buddy. I had the same thing happen to me on Swappa. Fortunately the guy was willing to give me his password... BUT in the 2 hours it took him to respond to my dilemma, I had already found a way around it. (Take note that my bootloader was already unlocked when I received the device.) Here's what I did.....
I tried flashing a couple different ROMs to no avail.
Then I realized it was because I was flashing 5.1 ROMs.
So, I found a 5.0.1 ROM that doesn't have the reactivation built in, flashed it, got it set up, then flashed a new 5.1 ROM. It worked for me but YMMV. I do believe having an unlocked bootloader in the first place helped. Hope that helps.

Thanks so much for that info. I had actually received and tried that but because it wasn't unlocked i was stuck. I did get the login info but now worried that they somehow have access to the phone. I noticed the label of a "group" of apps on my home screen was randomly changed. I did DL an antivirus app and it found something but I'm still worried about the security of the phone. Do you happen to have any suggestion on the best thing i can do to absolutely clear any of the old account information etc?

First thing I would do is go into Settings -> Accounts and remove the Google account that it was originally linked on. Then add your own. Do a factory reset, and you should be fine. If you want to go the extra mile, set up the reactivation lock under your account. I do believe that should clear any permissions he may still have as they would be linked to his Google account.

Boot to bootloader.
Fastboot format userdata
(Note that this will wipe everything, including contents of SDcard.
I would lock then unlock bootloader which would wipe the phone and then go to google and download latest builds and flash the phone to factory stock. Boot in, if there isn't anything funky, then I would made a backup of the stock and flash custom ROMs from that point. I like to check first if it works bone stock wiped before tinkering. That way if anything is still wrong with it I know who's at fault.

Well, more likely if it's locked I would just unlock, but yes the act of flashing it to factory images will wipe in one go. Relocking and unlocking is redundant.
Guys does anyone confirm that is any way you can remove the Google Account Lock on Nexus 6 that the previous seller didn't remove the Goggle Account?
Thanks in advance!
Im having the same dang issue!! Hopefully I can get it flashed since sell won't give me password.

Invalid IMEI, no sim, please help :(

Hi guys, I got a big big problem with my K3 Note, I think I went too far with wiping partitions before installing a new rom, here are the folders I wiped:
data, cache, system, protect_f, protect_s, dalvik cache.
After reboot my phone worked just fine but it didn't see the simcard, I thought it's the OS issue and wiped and flashed several times more.
Now when I got into the issue I noticed *#06# returns "invalid imei", after a little bit research I found out it's a common issue with MTK phones and found multiple possibilities for solving the problem, none of which worked for me though, for no known reason ;( What I've tried so far is: chamelephon app, MTK Engineer mode commands, flashable ZIP with the IMEIs, writing it with SN write tool and another program named something like Mauri? if I remember correctly, all done on the stock rom flashed with flashtool, now I'm retrying all of above on a custom rom.
I read somewhere that missing basebands can be an issue for MTK engineer mode, but I couldn't find any more info on the topic
I don't know if it is connected but the stock rom worked much worse than I remember when I first got the phone, it freezes completely(doesn't react to power button, keeps the led light after unconnected from charger, completely no response, I have to take out the battery each time) about once every 3-5minutes.
Another thing is, does anybody have any idea what the protect_f and _s folders are? I think I shouldn't have wiped them...
Any help would be much appriciated, I don't need another bricked phone... ;(
can you access bootloader mode and reflash with flashtools? i assume you dont have a backup? as far as i know the first partitition is responsible for the connection through USB so as far as i know if im not wrong you could reflash these partitions. dont know much however over these mtk devices
---------- Post added at 11:46 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:41 PM ----------
freezes and shutdowns, even in lenovo stock recovery are a common problem i have found out. this has nothing to do with partitions in this case however dont know if this can be valid in your case. however in my example it is a fault within some lenovo stock roms. hope anyone can help you with more information
I do can flash with flashtool, at least thats how I flashed the stock rom, but I dont have a backup. Is it possible to use my IMEI with a different backup?
with my limited knowledge over the subject. preloader is the recovery since you can get a connection, what is safe to try without tinkering to much is flashing the latest vibe 3.0 45 dev rom over at needrom.com, since this rom also affects other partitions. once you have done this completely wipe every partition manually sometimes in TWRP i have seen some partitions dont function fully until you change partition format from ext4 to f2fs and back to ext4 and then wipe and repair in my case it has been for example.
as for the IMEI i havent been handson with these subjects so it is better for someone else to inform. This tip can be tried without risk as hopefully the dev rom will restore partitioning, at least it is worth a try.
---------- Post added at 02:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:50 PM ----------
i cant answer your question on the IMEIs since lack of experience on the subject. however what i can say is that freezing and shutdown in stock k3 notes is a common problem and it is not hardware related. Does this problem also occur with a custom rom such as AOSP
Just to give you my total view on fixing the issue hopefully what i would try is:
1. flashing twrp
2.through twrp flashing the latest dev rom
3.reformatting every partition (meaning cache,dalvik cache,system,data,internal storage)
4.flashing a rom such as androim through twrp
5.trying the lost IMEI patch, input your info
6.to be sure use xposed framework uninstaller cause of performance gains
7.eventually using some tweaks such as l speed to get your device optimal
If the issue of freezing and random shutdown was of the same nature it should be solved 100%
http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...ed-thread-lenovo-k3-note-k50-t3158522/page117 latest dev rom
Damn, the official roms are unusable, they keep crashing after like 2-3mins.
Thanks for the link to the rom! I was looking for it for some time. Well, it installed without further complications, now I just need to find out how to restore my IMEIs... Hope at least one of all the methods will work this time.
I've found the answer to all my problems. I need a backup from another K3 Note, manually overwrite the IMEIs with mine and voila, it's supposed to work, at least works on other MTK phones.
If anybody here is willing to help me out please contact me, if you're afraid of sharing your IMEI numbers I can send you mine with an instruction on how to overwrite them, you could save me my phone and some money.

My lenovo also having same problem..
anyone have a working solution..
pls help..

invalid imei number problem solved
1. flash new stock rom in ur device.
2. now you have two options
a. you can update your device. ( do all the updates of lollipop but don't upgrade it to marshmallow )
b. you can use the current rom that you have got after flashing.
3. root your device using kingroot app that you can easily find on net.
4. after rooting install chamelephon app on your device from play store.
5. remove the battery and note down the imei numbers written on back of the device.
6. plugin the battery and switch on your device.
7. open chamelephon app.
8. enter the imei numbers.
9. Hit apply new imei option.
10. wait for 1 min.
11. switch off your phone and then switch it on.
12. your sims are ready to work.....
Note ( do not update the device to marshmallow as kingroot app is not able to root lenovo vib marshmallow updated devices.)

hi himansu,
can you tell me which stock rom you use.
i try already your solution, but still not working for my phone.
Please help
Dear Nechoya,
I got the exact same problem as I followed your footsteps of wiping too much.
Now my K3 note has NO IMEI and sim says NO SIM CARD INSERTED. I have tried all the usual methods mentioned on various threads but nothing is working for me. Can you please clarify what worked for you with some details. I am not a pro and anything from your side or any of the members reading it will be of immense help.
Thank you.
PS I Dont have any kind of backup
Try lord Arcadius' method.

Never mind... I eventually found LordArcadius method here- https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/guide-how-to-fix-unknown-baseband-t3096927
And it is so simple working method that solved this IMEI problem.
Thanks.

[solved] IMEI Recovery help! Lenovo K3 Note

For the past half a year, I have been using Carbon rom on my Lenovo K3 Note, and it was fine, until it started slowing down. So, I decided to change it to another rom (Nexus), and the next thing I know, my SIM card is no longer detected.
Turns out, the IMEI was wiped.
How would I go about restoring this?
The things I have done:
MauiMETA = Never detects my phone. Places it into meta mode, but the light never turns yellow. Tried on 3 computers, and had no success on getting it to work. For two of the three, I couldn't find drivers for mt65xx and CDC.
MTK Droid Tool: The option to change the IMEI remained permanently greyed out, and was never given the option to change it.
Official rom: Didn't work. Currently using it, and still the same error (Null). Tried factory resetting it, no change.
Engineering mode: Always gave me an error when trying to enter command, never accepted it.
IMEI.EXE: Everything worked, except the IMEI's never changed in my device.
Have tried multiple roms, multiple wipes, SPFlash, CWM (Even ended up installing it again because I wiped my entire phone with SPFlash), and pretty much every trick I could find.
I need this think working in 12 hours.
EDIT: Problem was resolved with trying "official" roms until one allowed me to update within the rom. The Update that was installed via Lenovo's bootloader fixed it. The finished product was that of an untouched phone; I had to reinstall a bootloader, root, and a new rom.
If flashing stock doesn't help, and you have no kind of backup of where the imei resides, you likely need a service center to hopefully help.
But know that any talk of manually inputting imei numbers is not allowed on XDA, as its illegal in most areas.
Good luck!

So it isn't as simple as entering the two codes under my battery into some location, and rebooting?
I'm currently in Europe, and have no idea how any of that works (Studying abroad).

That talk is not allowed, as I said. Inputting numbers falls under tampering and is illegal in most areas, as I said.
So try flashing stock, if you can. But without some sort of backup, you may be out of luck unfortunately.
Please keep number inputting talk off XDA, or I will need to close this thread. :good:
UPDATE: So, I flashed another "official" rom, which initially didn't work. However, it did give me the option to upgrade, which I did. With that upgrade, the IMEI is back, and my SIM card works.
Thing is, the ROM is almost entirely in Chinese.
How would I change my rom without wiping the IMEI?
Please post the link to download the ROM you used.
I have the same issue and even service centers failed to attempt this.
Thanx and regards
Raju

You can easily rewrite imei number using snwriter tool, google it.

Nexus 6 No LTE with IMEI correct, Bad "0" IMEi I have LTE?!?!?!? Heeeeelp!

Ok, Ladies and Gentleman I need some deep thought processing here for some help with a Motorola Nexus 6. In brief here is what the problem is, a while back when flashing Pure Nexus rom, I experienced a loss of my IMEI. I can restore my IMEI but if and when I do, I lose any 4g and LTE connectivity. The phone functions in 3g with data and phone etc... just slow as molasses but if I restore my IMEI to the one that doesn't show up my IMEI correctly I get back LTE/4g and all works fine also. I've tried going all the way back to the original firmware which was saved to computer and restoring it. Same thing, I have IMEI but no LTE/4g. restore bad efs and get LTE/4g back. I've tried going through all the factory firmware's and flashing by ADB and or TWRP and nothing firmware wise will allow me to restore the IMEI and have LTE/4g signal. If I restore the bad efs and get OOOOOOOO for IMEI when using the *#06# on any firmware version, I regain LTE/4g functioning! I am using Pure Nexus 7.1 now and can still see the 00000000 as a IMEI, if I restore my efs and get IMEI back showing correctly, no LTE/4g signal! My phone can only function as it should as long as the IMEI doesn't show correctly! I have tried just flashing base bands and other segments of any rom and still the problem persist! I have even tried restoring an EFS from another nexus 6 and still no help. It's not the sims because I've tried AT&T sims and Verizon sims from other phones and it does the same thing! I've tried flashing with a sims in the phone and without. Any ideas??? It's like somehow a correlating segment of a file is not being recognized when the correct IMEI is present, like some thing some where in the efs, IMEI, and radio are not taking to each other so to speak, unless it shows the zero's! Brain waves come on and help me out here!!
Have you tried doing a fresh install of a complete factory nexus image? (i.e. entirely wiping the device)

Thanks, and Yes, about 30 different times, using Google developer site original factory firmware, using ADB and or TWRP all the way back to original image, which I have saved as I said in the original post! I don't have a problem restoring IMEI it's just if I do, the phone will not connect to LTE/4g no way no how. I have to have a "0" IMEI for the phone to function as it should actually function and the LTE/4g radio to work, something strange is a miss!

Alrighty, no need to yell.... The factory image is flashed with "fastboot" NOT adb or TWRP. Just wanted to clarify how you were returning the phone to stock.

Yes I said thanks because I was yelling! Jezz, get a grip THIS IS YELLING! ADB/Fastboot both tools are used to flash, extract etc.. with your computer, so obviously one cannot flash/restore etc... without using the proper tools via computer!
Try this:
1) Install "Change APN" app from Google store
2) Open ChangeAPN and click the "option" ( the 3 vertical dots) in the upper right-hand corners.
3) click "reset to default"
4) exit the app
5) perform carrier reset ##3282#
6)If needed: after the phone reboots, perform PRL/Device config update. That's it and you should have LTE data.

Thanks! Ok, Itried that, restored my IMEI, "reset APN to default" Tried Carrier reset ##3282# and it says "NO Cellular Network" even though I am showing my network and 3G. So, I rebooted and same thing, went to PRL and tried to update and it says "update error" but it will refresh!

You clearly don't know the difference between a recovery, the bootloader and the operating system.
ADB is used when the phone is on and is not how you flash a factory image. Fastboot is used in the bootloader and is the proper method of restoring to factory.

You know some magic we don't? There is no way you've flashed a ROM with ADB...
@admiralspeedy
I was very gratified when I noticed that I'd overnight become a Senior Member - until I realised that it had nothing to do with the wisdom I'd imparted in my posts, but only that I'd posted 100. So seniority doesn't imply knowledge, which I think you're beginning to demonstrate in this thread as well as in another where I've seen this same strange unnecessarily belligerent attitude.
TheWacoKid is asking for help, which I'd be happy to offer if I had any ideas. I feel absolutely no desire to tell him that he has no idea what he's doing. And nor should you.
Stop trolling and become a properly-active member of the community.

Look, I came on here to discuss a situation and or problem, which is what I thought this web site was known for, which I havent run into before, in that way not only do I get some help and or suggestions which might help me but help others at the same time who might have the same problem and or will have in the future and find possible solutions! If you don't have anything positive to add to the conversation/situation/problem at hand you are wasting my time, others time and most of all just making a fool out of yourself being childish and immature. Most on here come for solutions not looking to nitpick and try and belittle others like they know everything, which you don't, otherwise you would have given a solution! So you can continue to act like a troll or just leave the situation be and by the way, you ever hear of ADB Sideload??
Use method 2 , you will get everything definitely

No, you can use ADB sideload to flash a ROM which requires you to be in the recovery. Standard ADB cannot be used to flash a ROM.

Amazing to any one with half a brain how you a Troll can think from typed response that someone is yelling, swinging, snarky and rude but your the one with an attitude that is all the above because like I said your a childish troll! I can't believe this site would even allow someone like you to be a member paid or otherwise! Your attitude is all your own and based on your own weak assumptions! Now go back to playing with your legos!

Thanks, I've used both of those methods, I have even tried just flashing individual parts all by themselves to see if just one part would give an error of some kind while flashing, no errors on any flash of any kind, the only difference being that if I read them correctly that on those methods it said to wipe data factory reset in recovery, before reboot, the Flashall bat file reboots automatically into image just flashed, I usually reboot as last command, if that makes any difference, I've even tried wiping then just flashing the new bootloader after a wipe, because it basically acts like a security checkpoint and partition manager, then rebooting and flashing the rest of one of the google firmware versions for the nexus 6.

So was there a solution? The thread just ended. I also have this problem but I'm no where as technical as thewacokid.
But I do know how to follow steps

IMEI and Baseband null no ESF files

Symptoms
-No IMEI and no Baseband
Both say unknown.
-No signal bars
-No sim detected (with or without sim card)
-Top right gets very hot hot at times
-Battery drains pretty fast
What I've tried
-Downgrade to 4.4
- Different play-store apps
- Different modems and radios
- IMEI writers etc
-Custom roms
-Same as above with no avail
-Stock roms
-4.4 stock
-5.0 stock
-Youtube
-All types of things in videos except octoplus or whatever its called.
Please help
You have an n900a? If yes, where did you get the 4.4 and 5.0 stock ROMs? They were never released by AT&T.

I used custom roms off XDA hoping it would somehow recover missing IMEI
Is the phone an n900a?
Yes SM-n900a
Made in China
If the stock roms don't restore imei and baseband, the efs folder may be damaged. A completely stock flash may be done via JTAG.

JTAG
Long time since I've heard that.
Wish there was something I could do on my own. I was hoping maybe just a modem flash.
I'll standby for a few more days then if nothing I'll start looking into what they could do.
Where did you get the stock 4.4 and 5.0 ROMs?
Here on XDA

I believe they were both from the unified threads.
you can find 4.4.2 stock on here
then 4.4.4 and 5.0 were based on official release.
Update
Still have no clue whats wrong
Either something is really wrong on the software side of the phone beyond Odin (maybe JTAG)
OR
The Sim card slot on the phone is damaged.
The phone was given to me because the old owner was never ever to get it working and gave up.
I have the IMEI on a sticker located on the back.
(Yes I know discussion about changing IMEI etc is banned that's not what I'm here for)
My main question is what can be done if I don't have an EFS back up? Is the phone just a softbrick/parts
If so plan forward is just to use as a car dock lol.
I am in the same boat man. I do not know what to do, to get my imei back and baseband. i posted a thread as well similar to yours hopefully one of us gets a success story!!!!!!

The first step would be to try to find the proper basebands. Dont know where any of the firms are located. Im trying to dig them all up. And reupload them but may take some days. I am hoping to temperarelly revive this device as i have gotton one myself.
Best of luck

My goal as of now is to find a t mobile 1 with a broken screen and switch boards. Done with the boot loader being locked.
I was instructed to do 1 of 2 things... 1st like you said buy a busted up phone with a good logic board and swap. OR 2- buy that same junk Note3 and copy the efs files and install them into your phone and switch the imei to yours. etc... I gave up on trying to revive mine so I no longer can tell you if it works or not but it seems to be the best 2 options friend... good luck let me know if you get it with one of the options....
