Ubuntu touch for Nexus 6? - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It is possible to make a ROM ubuntu touch with this tutorial? or there is already a way to install this system in the Nexus 6?
New Device Roms, Dev Ubuntu Touch

I am curious about this as well. I would love to use Ubuntu Touch on my Nexus 6. I thought it would eventually be officially supported, but haven't seen anything yet. Any one got this working and if so what functionality because searching gives little results.
Thanks

doesn't look like its for lollipop. all I see on the git is for 4.4.2

there seems to be a leaked rom for another phone. i wonder if this helps?

I'm no expert by a long shot, but doesn't that device use the older version of Android as well? At least the android counter part.

I am super excited about Ubuntu Touch. Now that it has released for real I'm thinking this thread needs a look.
BUMP!

Ubuntu Touch is based on Android 4.4.2. The Nexus 6 never shipped with Android 4.x. So there is an additional complication that no one has figured out how to solve. You need to build a kernel and base from the 4.4.2 source code, which... doesn't exist for the nexus 6 or newer devices.

Significence of impending Nexus Experience launch

I was just wondering what the significance of the Nexus Experience HTC One launch on June 26th is for the dev community. Obviously the ruu will be accessible to all and a version of stock android will most likely be available for us to flash as a rom. However will this help devs with other AOSP based roms like Paranoid Android and CM 10.1? Will we start to see much more stable versions of those after the launch of the Nexus Experience device?

Of course yes this will help. :good: The devs will get all the drivers they've been needing to make AOSP golden (if thats your preference) :highfive:

Requesting Ubuntu Touch port to Galaxy S6.

Not sure if any developers here owns a Galaxy S6. If anyone able to port Ubuntu Touch latest to Galaxy S6 would be very appreciated.
I believe that roms of anything that isn't android will not work due to the Exynos processors not having their kernel sources released.

Excuse my ignorance as I don't have any development experience more than being a script kiddy, but was not the old Ubuntu Touch roms just sampling from CM11 sources for most of the drivers and kernel stuff?
As I say, I don't really know anything but I thought that was how it went. I don't care if there is an S6 ROM but I just want to see any port of Ubuntu touch on any device I have.
Edit: Actually it looks like it was CM10.1 for the old ones from like 2013.
Later they moved to CM11, and they may use 12 now, I'm not sure.

I want to Port from m8 to m7, but dont have a clue... lol, can anyone help?

I love my m7, and refuse to get another device, so i'm bummed that htc abandoned it...
anyway I have become a huge fan of the stock rooted gpe roms, and would like to port the gpe 6.0 rom from m8 to m7 gsm, right now we only have a broken cm 13 but...
I dont like cm
I want 6.0
I am not afraid of linux, been using it off and on for years, usually in between major game releases tying me to windows... lol
but i have never ported a rom or built one from source, I have found several useful tutorials on building aosp, but i get stuck at the device specific bits.
so i figgure porting the gpe rom using the existing cm 13 as a base would be ideal, if anyone could point me to any usefull tutorials, or help walk me through it, I would really apretiate it,
I have always wanted to build and port roms with little... correction no success.

7.0 port from nexus 4?

as the snapdragon s4pro and 600 are very similar and other than minor things the nexus 4 and m7 are close phones on the hardware level, how hard would it be to port this rom?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/orig-development/wip-aosp-7-0-nougat-t3448444
would someone be willing to give it a go?
I have not been in the dev scene since pre 5.0 and things have changed enough that it would be almost starting from scratch for me I figured someone with experience porting modern roms would be better suited for the task.
Why should someone port this rom? We have already two nice working 7.0 Roms for the M7 well both are not in final release yet but you can use Slim7 as daily driver its pretty good http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one/orig-development/rom-slim-7-t348665. Porting a Rom is a lot of work and Slim7 is AOSP so i think thats better
Porting ROMs isn't that easy, even with similar hardware. Building AOSP-based ROMs isn't easy as well. I'm working on it since two months, but it has its complications. If you want stock-like Nougat ROMs, I highly recommend the Slim7 beta, which isn't loaded with a ton of apps, or wait until I figure out the build of Nougat ROMs and get a working build of AOSP-OMS (which is pure AOSP but using CyanogenMod's sources and build system, so it's easy to build for the m7)

New ROMs coming?

I'm just wondering if anyone is still doing ROMs for the M9? I thought about updating to a newer phone, but I am happy with the hardware, I'm just hoping that someone is still out there willing to build a ROM since I'd prefer to just update my phone to Android 7.0 rather than looking for a new phone.
I'm going to guess that the answer to my question is a big fat "no" unfortunately... boo
