About Us: Dirty Unicorns is a project that started out with no name. It was a project that was first created based off AOKP back in the early days of Jelly Bean because of curiosity. In the early days it was just a one man show on one device (EVO 3D). Since then many others have joined the project and it has grown a whole lot. We have seen a lot of talent contribute to this project of ours and many of our contributors have gone to help other projects and that is ultimately why we do what we do.
Once Jelly Bean was over, we decided in Kitkat to move to a new base which was OmniROM. While AOKP was fun, OmniROM proved to be even more exciting because it challenged us to see what we could with something different.
With Lollipop, we have moved to an AOSP base with a lot of patches from CAF to make our older devices function as they should. That said it has been an awesome learning experience and is still not over! We are still learning every day and continue to move forward.
Few more things we will say is that we don't accept nor ask for donations. We don't believe in that. Everything that is necessary to keep this project going is out of our own pocket. Gerrit, Jenkins, Websites, Devices, etc.....
We will never ask for a dime. All we do ask is that you search, read and try to enjoy the process with us!!

Had an issue with gapps disappearing. I reinstalled banks gapps and had to sign back in. All is well

Does opengapps work with this? Banks is a pretty big size for being gapps.

I've been trying to download that but it stops the download. I've tried it on two different browsers by the way.
Sent from my DROID Mini using Tapatalk
Edit: I was able to get it downloaded. But, the lock screen shows a delay when you hit the power button.
Edit2: I am seeing a lot of lag in most of the ROM it's self. I don't think it has to do with anything I installed because it was doing it after a fresh install.

OP Updated. Official v9.7 is out!

Wipe Everything INCLUDING internal storage. You most likely have $hit left over from another ROM. Make sure you have PC available to put ROM back on the device from TWRP to flash.

No, you need all the data remnants removed. That's why we CLEAN flash going from ROM to ROM. I use the file manager in TWRP to delete every single folder on the internal SD card except the one where my zip files for the ROM and GAPPS reside. This way there are no issues...
Sent from my Dirty Droid Maxx

this rom is great. I ran it the last two days. wiped data in twrp, but not internal storage. I had zero issues with it. everything is smooth and great, especially battery life compared to stock and latest cm12.1. thank you so much @BDAZZG1 This is the best Droid Maxx rom.
edit: I don't know if it makes a difference, but I am running the modded for Obake TWRP ver 2.8.4.0 nor the recommended version. again OP, thank you and the rest of the Dirty Unicorns team for standing out and making a device that has had little love be completely amazing.

About Carbon
CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look at, build, and use our code on CarbonDev GitHub.
We would like to thank CyanogenMod for their device trees, framework/settings mods and their code that was incorporated into this project. We also extend our gratitude to the devs whose code that we have incorporated. Proper authorship has been maintained and can be viewed on our repository.
Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, PA, AOKP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn't been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please - let us know.
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.

Support
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our goo.im page linked above. It's new, but expanding fast. Just like us!
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Join our G+ Community: http://community.carbon-rom.com This is where we spend the bulk of our time and the best way to reach us and other community members. We update and frequent this community far more than XDA, simply due to time constraints and the convenience of G+.
5) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

The zip isnt flashing. I can open it ith 7zip without error but when I flash i flash with Philz recovery or the one included in CM build. It gives an Status 7 error, "set perm: some changes failed". It says there is an error in the zip. Please have a look.

Cyanogen modified tool for ota package wich make all our build broke.
I wasn't even able to build Friday, yesterday it went thru but as u saw error7 shows because init is trying to call and change perm on inexistant files...

With Sony devices, all cm and cm based has to be flashed with fastboot, when coming from stock.
Or else only wipes it's ok coming from cm...
If not; error while flashing, recoveries for stock roms doesn't flash cm kernels i guess.
@kjhughes
its cm11 based...plus features....
Flashed this earlier, no really issue for me at all other than
- Camera and Camcorder
-Doesn't seem as smooth as stock (scrolling)
Other than that, it's working with no problems for me. Had to go back to stock so I can't test anymore. Awesome work dude!!!

AICPAndroid Ice Cold Project
AICP is known by everyone as Ice Cold Project that started on Desire HD and since then evolved into a mature ROM with the BEST community you can find!!!
Until Lollipop, Rom has always been AOKP based. Unfortunately, since AOKP either stopped development or will make a comeback later this year, we changed our base to CM when it comes to hardware, drivers and some features.
If there are any bugs, either we will sort them or CM team if it concerns their modifications. This rom isn't CM supported so no need to report errors or bugs to them!!

Don't disable Heads-Up. You wont be able to answer phone calls otherwise.
You tell...
ROMS should contain everything you need to enjoy Lollipop. You are not required to install any Add Ons, simply download the latest ROM, gapps, flash it, and go!
You are STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing, and if possible avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup - these can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug. If you believe you know what you're doing - then fine, go ahead, but please don't complain if you experience strange behavior.
How to flash:
Don't do it if you don't know it
ROM has gapps persistance in between dirty flashes
KERNEL:
Kernel in this rom follows CM source with custom additions.
PREREQUISITE FOR OTA:
To be able to flash over OTA app, TWRP recovery is needed.
You can still use CWM and OTA app, but only to download zip file and flash it manually from within recovery. Zip gets saved under AICP_ota folder on your internal SDcard.
If you want to contribute to the AICP or wanna see what is being worked on/merge feel free to visit our gerrit, link is at the bottom!!!

You'll need to fastboot OEM unlock for unlocking bootloader
Then need to fastboot boot twrp.recovery then install the recovery permanently by flashing it from within the booted twrp.recovery. so twrp needs to be on both PC and internal storage of nexus player.
Once you get twrp squared away, you can boot to and flash from recovery.
Bottom button on Nexus Player... Hold down while plugging in to enter bootloader. Short press to cycle, long press and release to select must be in bootloader when entering fastboot commands.
You will need a mouse connected via otg in order to do anything within twrp. I use a wireless Logitech k400 keyboard with a trackpad.
That's the crash course
thank you I'm glad to see more people developmenting for the Nexus player I'll have to try this out I'm stocked rooted with twrp and maybe make my 128gb pny worth using now thinking about getting some Ubuntu on their as well

Just make a backup in twrp(store the backup on external storage) and try it out. My previous testing, this wasn't ready for a daily driver if you use the Nexus Player for more than just Kodi. But when it worked well, it was very enjoyable

We'd have to ask @Trafalgar Square what the status of builds for the Fugu is. I take looks at the changelogs and have never seen specific commits for the Nexus Player. There is a build from the 23rd(yesterday) but I haven't tried any nightlies since the 13th... And that ran same as my previous attempts.
I'd really like to see the AICP tablet version! No AndroidTV UI. There isn't a current Marshmallow build in tablet mode for our device... The Pure Android build does not contain an overscan activity and can't launch the overscan.apk.
If I could formally request... AICP tablet version please ????

About Us:
Dirty Unicorns is a project that started out with no name. It was a project that was first based off AOKP back in the early days of Jelly Bean. In the early days it was just a one man show on one device, the EVO 3D. Since then, many others have joined the project and it has grown exponentially.
We have seen a lot of talent contribute to this project of ours. Big or small, the focus was always on contributing to the community. That is ultimately why we do what we do. After Jelly Bean, we decided to move to a new base, OmniROM. While AOKP was fun, OmniROM proved to be even more exciting base because it challenged us to see what we could do with a project that had different goals in mind. We learned a lot and again, gain contributors. With Lollipop, we moved to an AOSP base with a lot of patches from CAF to make our older devices function as they should. We grew even more and learned a whole lot more.
It has been an awesome learning experience and is still not over! We are still learning every day and continue to move forward. Lastly, we DO NOT accept, nor ask, for donations. We don't believe in that. Everything that is necessary to keep this project going is out of our own pocket. Gerrit, Jenkins, Websites, Devices, etc. We will never ask for a dime. All we do ask, is that you have patience, search, read and try to enjoy the process with us!!

We would like to give thanks to everyone that contributes to the Android community, big or small because every bit counts. Although we can't list each and every contributor within the Android community, we would like to highlight some of the teams and individuals that have made it possible NOT only with just this version of DU but throughout the years because we don't ever want to forget where we came from nor those that have helped us!
That said, on behalf of the DU team we say THANKS to....

Nope, but layers still works aka Substratum legacy.
Is Media playback a DU source related bug ? Coz its works in al other N based roms of kenzo
They are working into porting it to 7.1 atm so I don't think you should waste too much time with this build.
But still, thanks for your work, I'll gladly use future DU builds if they are avaliable.

Nope, afaik 7.1 ****ed media stack in caf devices, IMO 7.1 is meant for pixel devices. However cm is doing a good job rebasing, maybe they will fix the derps and we'll see a good 7.1 build in the near future. Or we could just wait for the full rollout of 7.1 in December.
Where is gapps link?
Which is to download arm64 for 7 ?

Didn't know that, I guess we just need to wait to see how stuff goes, we can't know for sure.
Also, does capacitive buttons work? Do they have backlight?
Cheers

Backlight seems to be a standard issue in all nougat Roms. You can use the app from the play store to control backlight. But the buttons work fine.

Download from opengapps.org. Android version 7.0 arch:arm64 package pico or nano is recommended.

You should add that to the second post then mate, knows issues with easy fixes are fine, but we should make sure that users are aware about them, even when they don't look that important.
I'm going to try the ROM in a few hours and I will try to give a smuch feedback as possible.
I'm using a custom built DU ROM atm and the only problem are light on buttons(fixed with a play store app) and torch tile, that doesn't always work, need to test in this ROM.
Again, thanks for your wok, ROM is looking great atm.
what the different with other DU 11 rom?

Wow! Nitin you're the man of the moment!!!
Nitin is the an untiring dev, Thank you man!
Nitrogen OS, XenonHD, XOSP, and now also Dirty Unicorns?!
You must either 1. Have a lot of time. 2. Be overworking. Or 3. know how to manage your time properly.
Otherwise, how are you managing 4 ROMs at once?

You forgot CypherOS
I think number 2 is true :cyclops:
To be honest Cypher, Xenon and XOSP are built on their individual severs, so I don't have to do anything (except initial bring up and maintaining the threads)... I build other ROMs on my server.

I don't think I had seen CypherOS.
Time to search.
In any case, you're definitely doing an awesome job.
Keep it up, however make sure that it won't have any negative consequences.
Update: I found CypherOS online, and verified that you are the official maintainer for the Nexus 4, however I couldn't find any threads that pertain to this.
And I had found three more ROMs that you maintain (or used to maintain): ZephyrOS, CM14, and TurboROM.
Awesome work man, keep up the good work Btw, is there any way to get the Pixel SystemUI?

OMG ! OMG ! the Horse back in the race............ :fingers-crossed:
Flashed DU. For the record it is my first taste of Nougat on mako, as i was on Chroma MM till now. Pretty smooth rom. Camera is working great bot for photos and videos. Much better than Chroma where there was some kind of lag in camera shot. Everything is working as expected till now. I will update after I have some more time with it.
