Screen stays off when making phone calls. - T-Mobile LG G4

I've noticed when I make a phone call the screen will sometimes stay black and won't come back on. Horrible when the person does not answer and I have to wait for the voice-mail limit to be reached or I have to pull the battery. I recently added tempered glass but I doubt that's what the problem is. Any ideas?

I've also notice that if my screen is off for a while, double tapping the screen won't work but if I press the power button on back then double press the screen it shuts off and if I quickly double tap again screen turns back on. Temper glass the culprit you think? I mean sliding through pages and pressing screen items works perfectly.

If you have a tempered glass protector that covers the proximity sensor then that is definitely the culprit. It's not an issue with the glass on the screen but an issue with the glass covering the light sensor.
The screen would have issues turning on after removing the phone away from my face to the point where I couldn't end the call unless the other party ended the call (or if I pulled the battery).
The knock on feature also didn't work a lot of the time (after keeping the phone screen off for like 10 minutes) because of the proximity sensor being covered.
Once I removed the cheap tempered glass protector, everything started to work just fine.
I recently bought a Yootech tempered glass with a cutout for the proximity sensor and have had no issues with calls or the knock on feature. The Preson and Nillkin tempered glass also work since those also don't cover the proximity sensor.
I bought a bunch of cheap tempered glass protectors from ebay and got a refund on all of them since they all covered the sensor and didn't work properly. This was never a problem with the G3 but I guess the G4 has a sensitive light sensor.

So the knock on feature also is affected by the sensor as well huh? So I guess I do end a new glass because the sensor is covered. Thank you!

New protector film for the keypad?

The protector film on the keypad on my phone has been going bad. It's opening from one of the corners.
Can I buy new protector for the keypad somewhere on the web?
Keypad protector?
Do you mean screen protector? The Diamond doesn't have a keypad? Screen protectors are readily available from a host of suppliers on the net. Try Google
Keypad/hardkeys, whatever =) There are indeed 4 buttons and that circulat one as well... The protector of that "keypad" is worn and going bad and looses itself.

your best bet is to buy standard screen protector n cut it to size to fit hw buttons
Same problem
I have the same problem with my diamond, it started to go off in one corner. Before it got to bad I took a sharp knife and cut if off. It hasn't gotten any worse after that.

That's what i did, HUGE improvment...
I have used this screen protector from Boxwave.. try this one http://www.boxwave.com/products/cleartouchcrystal/cleartouch-crystal-screen-protector-htc-touch-diamond_3180.htm
I had that problem too, I just removed the whole protector and bought a zagg one.
You get a digitizer at a cheaper rate instead of a screen protector.
Never used a screen protector.

[Q] Proximity sensor..

Has the issue with the proximity sensor and screen protectors been resolved?
Use a protector with cut outs
Bummer. I so wanted to put the zagg back on... Oh well, time to find one that fits more than the one from big red.
Thanks for the reply.

Spigen tempered glass screen protector blocks the incall sensor that turns screen off

So I applied the screen protector and everything was fine until I noticed that while Im on the phone with someone and I cant turn my screen on. The screen protector covered that sensor and I had to throw it away, along with my 12$...
Anyone had a similar problem? Maybe I applied it wrong?

You're not alone. It's been mentioned and confirmed by other users here:

contact the seller you got it from, if you bought from ebay or amazon or used paypal you should be able to get your money back. It is a know fault.
I received the updated Spigen protector today with the proper cutout for the motion sensor. It fits and works perfectly now!
I just contacted Spigen through Amazon. Hopefully I can get mine replaced with the correct cutouts

Tempered Glass Screen Protector Touch issue

Okay so I have the device for over a month now and only now I managed to find a screen protector for it. But as soon as I applied it, the bottom part of screen won't respond to touch anymore unless I am touching the metal bezel. So basically if I try to use my phone as it lies down anywhere, I can't. I'll have to pick it up in my hand. I then even tried with a different tempered screen protector but the issue remained. Though the touch works perfectly fine without the tempered glass on.
I understand how capacitive touch screens work but I believe if the touch works fine without the screen protector, there should not be any such issue with it. Is my device defective? Any help would be appreciated.
I'm having the same problem in a lesser degree. Since putting a tempered glass, the very bottom of the navigation bar is unresponsive (while I didn't have any problems before putting the tempered glass on). I'm using a cheap tempered glass so it's been my guess that it's not a good quality product, which explains the touch screen issue.
I didn't try another tempered glass since I got used to using the top bar of the navigation bar so I don't know if the problem occurs with all tempered glasses. I bought a couple of plastic screen protectors if I get tired of the problem.

Did you try touching the metal bezel and then trying whether the navigation bar responds aptly or not. In my little understanding, touching any metal parts provides earthing to the circuit and facilitates transfer of electrons thereby improving touch function.
But I have never had any such issues with any of my previous devices.

No, it doesn't change anything. It's the first time I'm using a tempered glass on one of my devices so I don't have any point of comparison.
I don't think the Motorola Service Centre is going to be of much of a help here as the device works just fine without the screen protector on.
Guess I'll have to find some plastic screen protectors and trust the Gorilla Glass 3.
Same with me, putting a tampered glass on made the bottom right portion of the screen very unresponsive, after taking it off, the sensitivity was fine.
Anyone know of a good plastic protector?
I took off the tempered glass and put a simple protective screen and the difference in screen responsiveness is amazing. It feels like a totally new touchscreen!

It would really help if you could tell where you got the simple protective screen from.
No matter the device has gorilla glass 3 protection, but I still don't want to keep the screen exposed.

I just bought the cheapest matte protective screen I could find on Amazon here in France. I don't remember the exact reference, just that it was coming from Germany (I usually buy protective screens made in Germany, I've never been disappointed so far).

Can full Screen Protector affect SOLI radar?

I've been searching tempered glass protectors for my regular Pixel 4, and some of them leave almost top of the screen unprotected, which I don't like at all. I've found one that has two holes for camera and speaker, but top right of the screen is protected, so it's over SOLI radar.
Do you think that Motion Sense feature could somehow be affected by this? I'm not familiar to how a radar works.
Thanks a lot.
It's radar, it sends out a signal and has to sense any interferences and reflections coming back. Block that it it won't work at all.
May also stop face unlock working if you block IR emitters.

Highly doubtful. It may hinder, but most radar devices are in some sort of enclosed housing.

I must say I've got that protector from yesterday, and SOLI radar and Motion Sense just work. But, I was wondering if it could affect in any way...
It definitely has an effect. I have a protector with a cutout and positioned it slightly too high, covering a small bit of the soli sensor window. That basically prevented MotionSense from detecting my hand when I grabbed my phone at very small angles. I always wondered why face unlock wasn't triggered when I grabbed my phone - that seems to have been the reason. I repositioned the protector and now it works.
So I bought a clear tempered glass screen protector, with no black edges. It had a large cut out at the top (essentially a giant notch) for all the seniors etc. However I think it is interfering with the soli radar as it no longer works with music etc ?
essentially it seems screen protectors will next to fit exactly with the radar otherwise they will cause interference!
Same thing happened to me with my Pixel 4. Bought a invisible Shield put on worked for two songs! And it stopped working.. Removed it, and is working again.
I am running a full screen protector and I have experienced no issues with the sensor. This is just a cheap screen protector that came with my case.
I can't post links yet but if you look on Amazon for sunnyw Google Pixel 4 XL Case with full screen protector you can see what it looks like.
The only cutouts in the screen protector is for the speaker and prox sensor.

Is it tempered glass, or plastic one?
I'm using a full screen protector, only cut outs are the ones on the left which the camera reside. The soli radar and face unlock works perfectly with no hiccups.
