Help on buying new device - Xperia SP Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. After two (tragic) years with Xperia SP, i'm deciding to sell it to buy my first flagship device this week. Currently, I have three options: Xperia Z3, Oneplus One or Zenfone 2 4gb. What do you guys think is the best of these three, considering the price and development support? TIA

Asus Zenfone 2 uses Intel chipset so as of now very little development support. Otherwise it is best & cheapest option.
Amongst 1+1 and Z3 I would definetely choose Z3 anyday.

Thanks for the reply. Any thoughts about LG G3?

Ofcourse LG G3 is an excellent choice but it has 1 bad flaw .. it is the battery
However, the another features are fantastic . contains a good camera , software and design
But in my opinion , The Z3 is the best choice of them

Dev Request- Port Xperia Time-Shift App to Note 4

I've been looking for quite a while now for a similar app to the iPhones slow motion editing software and have come up empty handed. Not only that, but excuse after excuse on why Android doesn't support it, or the hardware can't support it, all BS. Sony came out with "time-shift" in the Z2, which shows there is no hardware problem, only software. The quality of the time-shift is really good and on par with the iPhone 5s/6/6+.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSoPwAJvrQs
The Time-Shift app has been ported successfully to the Z1 but not to other android phones. The Xperia phones all use Snapdragon 800/801 proccessors and Sony IMX220 sensors, which is pretty much what all 2014 flagships run (Note 4 is an imx240, still an Exmor RS sensor). The Sony devs have been great getting it ported to other Xperia devices and I'm hoping there is someone around here that can do work and get it working on the Note and possibly other Android phones.
I'm willing to put down 100 dollars towards a dev that can get it working on the Note 4, maybe some sort of bounty, and I'm willing to do more if that is what it takes.
Right now I have a note 3 for personal use but also a Note 4 here at the shop that I can do some testing with also.
Any news ?

[Q] Which one to buy M4 aqua vs Z1

These are only my options because of my budget .Both devices are same in Price here in PH . I' m hesitating to buy Z1 beacuse i ve read alot of reviews about the battery back up of stock rom ,and it abit old compared to m4 aqua .Please i need help for those who are using Stock rom and kernel USERS .
whats the average Screen on time .ive heard cant even reach 4h
Normally I get ~5hrs of SOT with my Xperia Z1 and it can last more than a day but I can't tell about M4 Aqua because I do not have it.
But Xperia Z1 is satisfying compared to my Galaxy S4 though (I had like 3hrs SOT with the S4)
Hope it can help you

Snapdragon 615 has a slight lover Battery consumption (and pretty much slower), but the downside of the M4 Aqua is definitely the quite smaller 2'400 mAh Battery - compared to the 3'000 mAh of the Z1
Go for the Z1.
I think you should go for z1
See how Sony is still supporting the first of its flagship series (the original Z series), so it will not get old that quickly
Thank You for reply Guys ! I think Sony will Release 5.1 this month ,should fix alot of bugs . I think the best mid -range smartphone are those old flagship phones! So ill go for Z1 !
Btw M4 Aqua's forum seems to be really silent hahaha just saying and you're welcome!
Go for the Z1. Sony will be supporting the Z1 for a litt longer because it's a former flagship and part of the Z series and rn on stock Lollipop and Kernel the battery scene is not bad I can get about 6 hours SOT with STAMINA off. Plus Z1 has pretty good dev support. Also Z1s hardware isn't outdated and the physical aesthetics are pretty good too.

Zuk z1 is not that good for me and Redmi note 3 doesn't have ROMs like my g2 had! So any other option?and phone must be 4g *
Xiaomi phones have a dedicated forum so their xda presence is limited. Also I started using roms because vanilla was too simple for me. Even the stock miui has some good features. But THE best phone would be an One Plus. May be you can get second hand in this price.
Yeah buts its now become very old I mean its been now 3 years from release of one plus one !
Finally got my Redmi note 4 (Mido) thanks for ur replies!
Lenovo Moto Z Play. Best for battery.
Moto X 2014 Is a great phone overall besides the battery.
Edit: Damn, It's an old post xD

If you're looking to use it for more than 2 years I'd get the Z5. Note 4s tend to die around the 2 year mark.

I thought about that as well but then after research I found out that the Note 4 is supported buy many customs roms while the z5 lacks that

Is the 3T still worth picking up right now?

I have an S8 but I also want stock Android so I was wondering if the 3T is worth it and also if it'll have community support for a while
no , i would recommend you to go for mi a1 if you strictly want the stock android xp when you own an s8
or if you have budget you can go for oneplus 5

Will the mi a1 have good developer support?
And also, why do you not think the 3T is a good idea? I can get it for only 100 NZD more
I'd say the 3T is still a pretty solid option right now. But if you can add in a few more bucks, I'd suggest the 5T instead. Phones with18:9 display with dual cameras are hot right now, the 5T has them both and a lot more.
As for your other question, some Xiaomi devices do have a lot of custom support, like the kenzo, it's one of the most popular devices on xda.
But on the other hand, Xiaomi still hasn't released Kernel sources for the A1 so there wont be any custom development until they do.
But if your main focus is on custom development support then go for something with Project Treble. That thing is going to change everything.
I wouldn't hesitate to get another 3T right now.

A1 instead of 3T, seriously??
Had it before the 3T and can't recommend!
Very laggy and no development until Xiaomi releases the source.
Bang for Buck? 3T
Community development for 3 or more years? OnePlus (3T)
Near stock Android with small tidbits of OxygenOS goodies? 3T
But if you have the budget, 5T it is. Strict budget? 3T.

Yeah I don't have the budget for the 5T and in fact it isn't even out in my country yet. The 5 is too much too so I guess the 3T is the best option

because of the aging hw, nowadays hw ages so fast also with android one support its best ,

The 3T section was the most active one on XDA for some time. Forum activity has probably surpassed by the OP5 (and soon to be 5T) at this point. But if you can't afford, or don't want the newer iterations; then the 3T is definitely the way to do in terms of community. It will be supported here for a long time to come, for sure.
I think it pretty much depends on the price that you have found for the 3T.
below $400 I would still probably buy it

which is slightly more than 300 USD (right?), I would still buy it for this price.
I guess the new 5T is 700+ NZD right?

Try 1k lol. The S8 sells for 1.3k the note for 1.6-7 the iPhone X 1.8K
We get ripped off hard. I'm lucky my parents can afford to get me flagship phones.
Still a good buy

Damn! Go get that 3T now hahaha
The 3T became my backup phone. I got the 5T a few days ago and I wouldn't hesitate to put my SIM card back in my 3T if the former broke down.
