Tried replacing my screen, need some advice - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I think I'm out of luck but I figured I'd post here before giving up on it. Cracked my screen, got a replacement, when I was putting it back together I accidentally broke the plastic part that covers the pins that hold the screen cable in place (see the picture). I am guessing I need an entire new motherboard.

I thought it was that clip that released the connector, it clearly wasn't. This off itself wasn't actually an issue, I got the phone all the way back together and working when I realized I didnt use enough tape to hole the screen to the frame and it was coming apart. When I was putting the phone back together I accidentally bent one of the pins on the connector and that was the end of it. I tried carefully bending it back it only made it worse. I was beyond frustrated to have spent about $200 and 20 hours (I originally tried a LOCA glass replacement and cut one of the ribbons while trying to separate the cracked glass) to fix the thing and 1 bent pin turned the entire thing to a paperweight.
Please save your "should have let a professional do it" comments.

On the bright side at-least now your papers will not fly around on a windy day.

Just broke off a keyboard button!!!

OK so the 'i' has pinged off :'(
Will it be OK to just superglue it back?
I can see there's some kinda thin rubber 'membrane' underneath..... will superglue do the trick, or will that totally ruin it?
Thanks for any tips!
do not even try!!!
buy a replacement keyboard. just a view bucks and some guts needed. all info found on XDA devs.
Do not superglue!! if you do the button will stick. Get a glue gun and use like a needle to evenly spread it then glue.
Wow. I'd say you'd be best getting a new keyboard and replacing it.

I agree, do not superglue! you may end up trashin your phone if you are not careful. Get a new keyboard.
Dude, screw glueing it. I say go get a soldering iron, solder, and flux, and just use those to attach the key back on. It's more accurate and lasts longer. Be sure to apply the flux first!
Edit: Please don't solder the key back on!
hands on repair is always fun for first timers,i had the same thing happen with my Hermes/8525 only that almost all the buttons started prying off piece by piece, luckily i just bought a new keyboard and sold it before i got my Tilt

Slider tighten/Hinges - already searched - not 4 hinge screws!

Any way to tighten up the hinge mechanism and slider rails? Yes I've searched and the 4 screws on the hinge will not tighten up the resistance to tilt up/down only if the screen/body wobbles alot.
Today replaced my entire front housing/middle section and thankfully the phone works perfectly so far aside from looking like it was just unboxed. But -- I would have liked to tighten the hinges. Didn't fully disassemble the slider mechanism and totally remove the sim card holder. Read the full HTC SERVICE guide and looked at the photos couldn't see if there is a couple of screws beneath that apply pressure to the hinge plate. Tighting the rails looks like its impossible - ANY INSIGHT to either would be helpful.
UPDATE: Found a fully detailled photo of a slider and it looks like a screw just above the hinge in the photo - is this the screw to apply more pressure? I'm a little hesitant in popping off the sim reader since it looks like its double faced to the slider. Will post the picture tomorrow.

Have done a Hermes multiple times - but the KAISER is a royal pain to strip down and put back together.

Brand new N4 just fell off counter and.....

....nothing happened. Actually it was on top of my microwave on my kitchen counter. I just got it a few days ago and still waiting for bumper cover to arrive. It slid off the top of my flat surface microwave, bounced off my counter top and landed on my tile floor. Found it face down. It made quite a bit of noise on the way down and initially had no idea it was my phone causing all the racket. I cringed as I picked it up but didn't find a single blemish on it. No bump, bruise, crack or scratch. Just figured I'd share this since so many other people were so eager to share their nightmare drop stories with their new phones. Hopefully this will make a few of you breath a tiny bit easier about the integrity of the phone.

Dang, lucky you!
Probably fell on the bezel and absorbed most of the shock then landed on the face . Still that's good!
Thread closed. I know you just want to give the other side of a drop story but the same way with those threads, if everyone posts everytime they drop their phone (good or bad) the forum would be completely overloaded with them.
Thanks

[Q] Anyone know what the name is of this connector port?

Anyone know what the name is of this connector port? Can I buy the part and re solder a new one on the mainboard? My problem specifically is while trying to remove the on board sd-card with an exacto knife I didn't realize I was slipping and hitting that port with my exacto knife and I some how managed to knock 4 of the golden contacts off the connector and now the Lcd screen is all messed up when it comes on. My thought is this, If I could buy those tiny gold contacts then I could replace the 4 that I managed to remove by accident with my exacto knife and my problem would be fixed.

It's probably going to be very difficult to find the individual contacts. Most likely it will be hard to find the whole connector by itself. I'd personally look for a dead tablet on ebay. You could probably get one with a good connector. Of course soldering one of these in isn't going to be the easiest thing either, unless you have the right equipment. I personally use a dissecting microscope and a very sharp soldering iron to solder the USB ports on Samsung phones...

Cant get the screen to stick down

Hi,
I broke my galaxy tab s sm-t805Y screen so bought a replacement lcd+Digitizer and 3m of 3m adhesive tape from ebay to stick the lcd+digitizer to the main frame.
I heated the tape slightly after putting it on the main frame, pushed the screen down and put around 10kg of books on top for 24hrs.
After using the tablet for 15 minutes the tape slowly comes away from the screen but stays on the frame.
I replaced all the adhesive tape again just incase i messed up but its failed to stick to the back side of the screen. When i touch the tape on the main frame where it sticks to the screen it is very sticky still.
Am i missing or forgetting something?
Thanks!

I suggest using small amounts of loc-tite gel. Use a toothpick to apply small amounts only on the frame. Try just doing the corners and one point in each mid frame area. Be careful not to get any glue on flex cables and circuit board. Loc-tite will release, if needed, with the application of heat to the applied area.
