[ROM] Unofficial Cyanogenmod 12.1 with CAF Kernel 3.4.0 [2015-09-09] - Moto G Original Android Development

*/
This ROM is an unofficial build on CyanogenMod 12.1. Originaly (back in November 2014), the project was only about the kernel but I thought that a full ROM might a better.
So, why would you install this ROM ?
The main reason would be to upgrade significantly the kernel :
- get rid of the old LNX.LA.3.5.1 kernel base (from February 2014) and switch to a brand new LA.BF lollipop base
- to get a smoother experience of CyanogenMod
- to enjoy some CAF taste in all of his glory
- if you are an enthusiast
This ROM uses custom HALs so I'm not responsable of incompatibility with eventual custom kernels and I won't "Add support"
ROM Features :
- Based off latest generic CyanogenMod 12.1 nightly source
- OTA updates via built-in CMUpdater (LZMA Compressed)
- Vanilla CAF LA.BF.1.1.1.c5 display HAL (improved display performance)
- Vanilla CAF LA.BF.1.1.1.c5 media HAL (improved video performance)
- Vanilla CAF LA.BF.1.1.1.c5 audio HAL (improved audio performance)
- Latest Motorola LPB23.13-37 5.1 Vendor Files
- Latest kernel.org f2fs binaries
- Vanilla CAF LA.BF.1.1.1.c5 Media Codecs / Audio Policy / Bluetooth configs
- LZMA Compressed recovery images
- QCOM Bionic Optimizations
Kernel Features :
- Based off latest CAF LA.BF.1.1.1.c5 kernel source from Qualcomm
- As clean as possible, it matches CAF
- Vanilla CAF LA.BF.1.1.1.c5 Wi-Fi Prima driver (better wifi performance)
- Uses ZEN i/O Scheluder by default
- First Lollipop Overclock
- Underclocking
- Smartmax Governor
- My own akm8963 driver re-work for LPM/HBM mode
- The best is in comming
But, why is it in alpha ?:
It's in alpha state because not many people tested it and maybe there are some unknown bugs.
Speaking of bugs here they are :
Code:
[B]Known bugs[/B]
- 5 sec blackscreen at boot (doesn't affect bootime) [B][COLOR="red"][/COLOR]the first boot blackscreen is even longer so just wait and it will boot, builds or tested do not worry[/B]
- Offline charge is broken (same reason as blacksreen)
I released even if those bugs because they doesn't break the ROM experience itself (and because I wait for realeasing this ROM since ages)
They will, of course, fixed as soon as possible.

It's fully stable, you just don't see 5 sec from the bootanimation.

I will install it and try it but I need to charge my Moto G Good job !!!

Damn, bootanimation doesnt show at all, i reflashed three times thinking something was wrong, and i lost patience thinking my phone turned off after google logo, but it booted. It works great btw, stable and all, and overall fast. Nice work. Now just remove the stupid cm theme engine and implement layers, and you have most custom unoffical cyanogenmod rom.

Yeah, the bootanimation bug is annoying, but you'll see that you get just a 5 sec blackscreen on reboots. It was just the first boot xD
Hmmm ... I don't think I will remove the CM Theme Engine : as I said, this project wasn't a ROM originally (I made a ROM to avoid HAL issues actually) I just wanted to make big background optimizations. So on the apparence/look part, I won't differ from CM.

My opinion (is still black screen after flashing). Just make optimizations and don't change the features or other things. To be just an optimized CM 12.1 ROM.

Too bad, well i guess i'll stay with the stock theme then, because i seek for stability, and that's pretty rare nowadays.

And we can expect updates on this project? I'm not asking for ETA, i just want to be shure this is not a one time thing

omg, thanks for this @h2o64.. gonna try it out...

All my working projects (AOSParadox, TWRP, or CM now) are getting continuous work and updates. I just don't like to post "empty" updates with an un-interessting changelog.
I just made the first stage of this project xD So much is about to come

Hi,
I installed all my apps about 30 apps and every app work without problems fc or other problems except one: Zonga - it's a music streaming app developed by Vodafone Romania and in other ROMs it's working but here it doesn't have sound and If I press play doesn't play from first I need to skip the track and the next one plays without music.
I will attach soon a logcat.

Good Start TO ICS
Re: [ROM][DEV][UNOFFICIAL] CyanogenMod 9.1 - BroadcomCM [Alpha 1 - 26/01/2013]
Story:
As most of you all might know.
In the last month Broadcom was very kind to us and released the HW drivers for our devices ( BCM21553 )
These sources where based upon android 4.0.1 and thus not working on 4.0.4.
We as Team BroadcomCM (SpaceCaker and Bieltv.3) have been working from the release date till now to make these compatible with 4.0.4 ICS and tested these to make sure all edits where right.
During this we worked almost 24/7 to get it proper.
As first result we had it working on AOSP ICS 4.0.4 ( SpaceCaker Build ) But sadly on this we didn't had touchscreen working and Colors not proper.
Later we build on CM9 (Bieltv.3 build) and found out that colors as in previous build weren't proper.
After tons of work and such we found out that our problem was laying in something very simple, something we overlooked during the editing process. After Biel tried the fix it suddenly worked like it should and from then with our latest Team edits we managed to get the HW drivers ported the proper way.
Thanks to our amazing team we have got HW to work proper now.
Also A lot of thanks to Broadcom for releasing the initial drivers.
wow crazy man thankssss reserved

A question Herr Walter:
Any chance that the kernel would work on other ROM, such as AOKP?
And, if yes, can this be made into a flashable zip?
Thank you for your input.
Sent from my Xperia V using Tapatalk
Good to see this finally coming to the V. And no the kernel is not separable from the ROM so the kernel cannot be flashed onto another KK ROM.
As for reboots, there should be none - as with the T the new kernel should fix all instability issues.

Any chances you could provide a flashable zip that includes the kernel and those proprietary files you mentioned?
I'd be willing to give this a shot.

I'd be willing to give this a shot.

It's not as simple as a quick kernel and props flash - the system depends on the kernel that is being compiled alongside - the entire ROM needs to be compiled along with the kernel or you'll get breakage.
this sounds promising...
is there anymore work planned on this rom? i would love to have omnirom...or ANY real custom ROM
I switched to kernel source from sony. Maybe i can compile new rom later. Camera is fixed some firmeware file were missing. Still problems with Wlan and GPS
I am back to omni kernel.
Wifi works now. http://d-h.st/XVF
Use wifi firmware from kernel / mint (xperia t)
check /system/etc/firmware/wlan and replace files with files from Xperia T omni.
Edit:
Recovery fixed: use this in bootrec-device
export BOOTREC_EVENT_NODE="/dev/input/event7 c 13 72"
export BOOTREC_EVENT="/dev/input/event7"
Next Camera and GPS.
both camera fixed.
next step fix gps.
edit:
gps works partial now. It did not work if you have enabled wifi

You're awesome bro
This sounds like the rom is now ready for daily usage, isn't it? :good:
By the way, are the bsod issues gone with the new kernel source? Have you been able to test this over some time?

BSOD's are now as much as you should have on a stock rom, cause it is the same kernel. So rarely Should be really stable like I have on my Xperia T!
I have to update and test my source now. If everthing works well i will build a new test rom. Files from 9.2.A.1.210 official
I m back to omnirom kernel.
Kernel works well.

This roms works for the Samsung Galaxy Music GT-S6010/L and probably the DUOS variants too but this rom won't get dual sim working (only cm 11). Also the rom is buggy.

Changelog
RC 4 (final release)
-Not sure what fixed, but rom is smoother now
-Use correct overscroll glow (grey) and text select handle (blue) instead the orange ones. I think they were used from gingerbread.
-Removed OpenDelta.apk because it was not necessary for us
RC 3
-Make lockscreen widget bigger (clock will now look complete)
-Enable lockscreen widget options in low ram mode
-Some kernel perfomance improvements
RC 2
-Fix microphone
RC 1
-Fixed ril related issues (fixes calls, network search and mobile network)
-Enabled low ram and enabled lock screen widgets on low ram mode
Beta 1
-Initial release
Some notes
-If you want to use the max widget on lock screen, you must disable low ram and after enabling it, you can enable low ram again
-There is no theme engine on this rom, however you can use xposed module hk themer however not all themes will work.
Ok, this is the first not CM based rom for our phone however it is not ready for daily use. If I were able to fix bugs and be as stable as CM 11, i think could bring other roms like slimkat, dirty unicorns, etc...
Also I haven't forgot lollipop, cwm for lollipop showed a black screen and then rebooted and the rom didn't flashed on twrp (I will have to update it and I hope that was the problem) so it won't be coming soon. Also I'm building omni 4.4 because I want omni 5.X, so I may learn to fix bugs before moving directly to 5.X
Edit: Fixed ril related problems (mobile network, calls and network search) (credits to k2wl). Still need to check video recording and also should apply patche to fix system update service wake lock. A RC will be available soon . Also about lollipop progress, updated twrp (will post it soon) but still gave flashing errors, I think I will try cm 12.0 instead of 12.1
Edit2: mmm I think the system update service thing wasn't on omnirom... also noticed that microphone is not working even with dhinesh77 patch :-/
ok fixed microphone and on cm 12 too. Now it is mostly stable and maybe the next attempt should be slimkat
Ok, posted RC 3 for Omnirom and sadly I think it'll be my last omni 4.4 version soon I will stop development because i won't have too much free time. So before that, I'll release a cm 11 version with the lockscreen widget bigger and kernel perfomance changes. Then I MAY release a cm 12.1 (just source updates) and omni 5.1 version. I won't bring marshmallow (sorry about that guys ). Then that would be my good bye. It was a pleasure trying to bring some excitement to this device and give alternatives to the stock touchwiz rom. Also sorry for not being able to fix bluetooth, it gave unusual problems.

Thank you! I had been thinking of asking you to do a CM11 refresh with a source update because there have been a lot of security fixes in the interim but I didn't because I know you're short on time (and RC5 does work perfectly apart from that lockscreen widget issue) but thank you for all your time, effort and hard work on this tiny little device. Brilliant work! :good:
Will be looking forward to that CM11 refresh. Thank you! :good:

Edit: There another few things I want to do with kitkat. I think I can fix the overscroll color (gray instead of orange) and maybe something related to smoothness

Will try this rom and give you a feedback ...
Hi, I wanna give you a quick feedback after 1 hour on the thor rom...
1) after the installation (did a factory reset) it comes with a bluethoot error and the service doesnt work.
I did a restart and switched it on ... off ... on ...off the first and secound time bluethooth seems to work (but did'nt make a link) but after that the service didnt come back.
2) After I switch off the display I have to reboot to get it back. So I only get a blackscreen with backlight.
3) Rotation works well but a few apps rotate in the wrong direction. But this is not a big thing!
4) Batteryusage didnt show apps and the graphic locks buggy
this are my first impressions

- To be honest I developed this on apollo
- Didn't really test much on thor so probably problems in the kernel causing blackscreen for thor
- seems to work flawlessly on apollo
- will look into thor issues before next build
- thanks for the early feedback
- updated op known issues

Excellent work @ggow, I just dirty flashed Apollo version, and must say I am pretty impressed, everything vent smoothly, the only FC I get was from clock app, but that was expected... :good:
Is there any recommended xposed version working with this ROM?
So far I found one small graphic glitch, you can see it on attached picture (you can see only half of the first notification)...
OK that's all for now, going to test how fast this can burn through hdx battery, so far every LP ROM I tested on my phones was really power hungry...
I've tried this ROM.. smooth as hell...
but if I not geting wrong, no LTE...( I am on Apollo)
Is that right? Or I made something wrong...

- OTG support isn't available at least at the moment.
- Not completely certain what the story is with OTG on Apollo and Thor
- I have seen various comments about this
- Some have said it might be a limitation of the hardware or a limitation imposed from the bootloader.
- Needs investigating to be sure of what can be done.

I just had to try it and it's working!
So if anyone wants to try xposed for lollipop, go for it (make sure you don't have any "xposed leftovers" from KitKat like me (gravity box i. e.) and uninstall them first)
be sure you did nandroid backup in TWRP before you flash xposed for lollipop in TWRP (yes, framework needs to be flashed)
I used xposed-v73-sdk22-arm.zip
Reboot into ROM and install XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk
That's it, happy hacking...
YouTube in FullHD
And I don't know what magic @ggow did this time, but we finally have here YouTube app where we can choose 1080p streaming ! Yay! This just made my day!
Or Google finally allowed this for every mobile users in latest YouTube app? Anyone on CM11 or Nexus 4 can check if its there too?

[KERNEL][EOL][10][OneUI/LOS][G96xF/FD/N] RZ Kernel for Samsung Galaxy S9(+) Exynos

Code:
#include
/*
* Your warranty is now void.
*
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this kernel

RZ Kernel aims for as stock experience as possible. It is made from Samsung's stock kernel with stability updates thanks to great guys who made ELS (exynos-linux-stable) branch
It also attempts to increase overall multitasking performance while maintaining good battery life with proper settings
Features
Adapted new Samsung EMS scheduler from Samsung 4.14 kernel (with 16ms PELT)
Gaming optimizations (reduce heat while maintaining performance stability)
Disabled battery-hogging WAKELOCKS
WireGuard and DriveDroid support
Security patch fixes adapted
Thanks to corsicanu for helping me with initial kernel support

Notices and Q&A
The kernel is based on tw10-android-4.9-q branch of ELS, which is currently at stable state from my experience
Other related features of the kernel were picked from other sources. Credits belong to the owner
The kernel's energy costs table is remade in favor of new EMS scheduler
Questions and Answers (Q&A)
Q: AnTuTu scores please?
A: This kernel isn't made for benchmarks so let's not talk about it
Q: My phone gets hot while using this kernel?
A: Short answer: It's your own issue, fix it yourself. Nobody makes a kernel just to burn your hands
Long answer:
Install Termux app from Play Store
Enable screen rotation, open Termux in landspace mode
Type this command: su -c top -d 2
A list of processes will appear and refresh with 2s interval. Find which process consumes the most CPU usage with [%CPU] column and the package name in ARGS column. You should see the culprit of your issue
Reminder: There is no such thing as "I have nothing in background but the phone still heats up". There definitely something happen and 99% of the time it's some of the rogue apps running in background
Q: Can you add X Y Z feature to this kernel?
A: I want to keep the kernel clean and simple. However, if the feature is really useful, I'll consider adapting it with proper performance check before releasing
Q: Installation procedure?
A: Simply flash the kernel with supported ROM and forget. No Magisk reinstallation needed
Reversed for future usage
Another kernel for S9 devices, awesome.?
Thanks
Updated initial release with latest defconfig base for DTC5 vendor
Limit of downloadings from google...
Hey. Will this kernel Work with dtc4 vendor?
Build kernel from scratch
I need help with building kernel outside of android build system.
I have downloaded sources from here: https://github.com/LineageOS/android..._universal9810 , installed cross-compiler, configured with "make exynos9810-starlte_defconfig", build with "make". For now I have file arch/arm64/boot/Image .
How to build correct dtb and pack it with the Image file to bootable image?
Thank you.
Second public build is coming, and this will be the final build of the kernel project!
We have been going through lots of ups and downs in the testing group, so here are the results
Changes:
Fixes zram on boot
Adapted a new kernel scheduler, supporting 32/64-bit task scheduling
Critical scheduler performance fixes
Adapted newer vendor support
As this is the final build of the whole kernel project, I'd like to say thank you to all supporters/developers who helped me improving the kernel. The whole project hasn't lasted long, but it was a great time. This and the RZ Kernel project for Exynos 8895 will also be abandoned, unfortunately
Once again, thank you for all your support!

Arigathanks! I've been using the kernel for quite sometime and I like how it's underclocked by default. What device would you be moving to?
Sad to see such a nice kernel getting abandoned.
What needs to be done to keep it updated and relevant? Would love to keep it alive.
Using this kernel with havoc os, all is good as a daily driver battery life with this combo is awesome

Perhaps you can clone my kernel repo and do something with it. The most contemplating thing is to handle future vendor updates from Samsung. The kernel might go unbootable on latest One UI at some point, so someone must be doing the stock defconfig update (that's the least requirement to boot One UI ROMs with newer vendor)
Hmmm....Usually I can verify that the kernel has been installed by checking it's build date. But it still shows the same like before. I'm running official LOS and flashed the kernel in LOS recovery. According to the log it went fine. Maybe it doesn't work with that recovery?
Edit: Ok, in TWRP it works fine.
Anyone tried using with the latest vendor / security patch? I'm on Alexis ROM 1.8 would love to continue using this kenel.

I tried it. Some tweaks not working like showing download speed and reverted back the old power menu (no emergency call) which is baked in the rom and the settings menu changes like 2 battery options in the menu. One is fixed at maximum power saving and cant change while another is on the device health or something which can be change. I also found that sometimes it ramps up the clocks without any reason i still manage to get 4.5-5.3hrs of sot with light usage. The chrome is unusable since it bugged out like its inverted color and cant see sh*t.

How was the standby drain? What twrp did you use? I used 3.4.0.0 of TWRP. The chrome is super dark and cant see. Can you confirm this or im an isolated case? Do you think its because of not using twrp 3.3.1.1 that bugged mine? Hope you can help me. Thanks!
