[GIVAWAY] Black carbon fibre skin sticker full body wrap - Nexus 5 General

Here I am, giving away a Nexus 5 sticker skin. It's black carbon fiber imitation (similar to this: http://goo.gl/guGp2W).
There's no rule of the giveaway. First one to send me a PM, gets the skin.
Sadly for some, this will be limited to Romania. The skin will be sent via national postal service, except if the winner wants otherwise, case in which the winner pays the shipping.
Good luck!

I sent you a PM.

And the skin goes to SilentGTX!
Congrats!

That escalated so quickly!

[REVIEW] XtremeGuard vs ExoSkin

I ordered both skins the same night, the 29th. The ExoSkin arrived much earlier so...:
The ExoSkin arrived in 2 days, one earlier that the estimated date.
I thought I ordered a wood but black carbon arrived. (I did NOT check before finalizing the order). Something that's not unheard of apparently.
The return process is straight forward BUT, a 10 day turn around plus shipping was too much so I just sucked it up and installed it.
The rear cover has an "elaborate" cut. Installation was incredibly easy, and it goes on dry. Directions say to use a heat gun or hair dryer.
Once installed, using the hair dryer to warm the skin around the edges, the rear is covered very well. *One note: the cut-outs for the camera LED and "LG" and logo are very precise. They are lined up perfectly. So is the IR and both microphone holes BUT the skin is a tad off. About 1mm.
I'm happy with it but there's no screen protector which is going to add to the total cost.
Now the XtremeGuard. I just checked the website and the protector that is installed to my wife's phone is still listed as "pending".
it was shipped on the 30th so it probably arrived and have been in my mail box since the 2nd.
The XtremeGuard seems simpler. It comes with a small microfiber cloth, which I'll keep for quick wipes of my lens before photos, a cardboard squeegee, rear protector, screen cover and instructions. It goes on wet.
I've been installing protectors before hardened glass so I hit the protectors lightli with Windex, apply, then squeegee. I also used the hair dryer to get the edges to stick faster. There' was no issues at all, besides me placing the front slightly off. About that screen protector, the entire area left of and including the ear the ear speaker is one cut-out.
The material is grippy but not tacky. it's about the same as Ghost Armor and that's good.
I know I said in the title "vs" but there's no vs. Both are incredibly nice, I'm happy with both, I'd use either again. It's a Win/Win!
Edit: while typing i got an email from XgearLive customer support saying they'd give 50% off on my next skin. Which will be soon!

Sorry to barge in but I thought this is pretty revelant.
Anyone tried BodyGuardz yet?

I like how the edges are wide cut to prevent any wired folding.
It's just sad that shipping is pretty pricey...

I'm looking into this option as well since they cover the edges unlike xtremeguard
While the bodyguard covers better than the xtremeguard it doesn't cover as well as the ExoSkin.
I just ordered 3 more cases and another xtremeguard screen protector for my phone, (the wifes' is getting the pink skin and I'm changing to the wood).
Guess what arrived tonight. There's also a white carbon that looks incredible.
My initial conclusion seems correct. The skins are tad off on the left.
Buy the xtremguard carbon fiber red but not perfect fit on my D802 EUR (unfortunately) but very beautiful! Bye bye glossy!
I have a white version too but for later
Sent from my LG-D802 using xda app-developers app
I really like the look of the Exoskin but they only carry a Verizon version...

Nice! Just got my bodyguardz & will do a full review in a separate thread. How is the texture on the red carbon fiber? Is it slippery or a good grip like surface?
Had one from Bestskinever on my Galaxy S2 2 years ago. Loved it but it was sort of slippery & the white got dirty fast
The wood is incredible. Not only does my wife keep mentioning it I've gotten 3 separate compliments today.

Damn that does look good. I wish they offered skins for the non-verizon variants.
My BodyGuardz armor white arrived today.
Overall I'm pleased and I like the white with the all-black face. Makes the device look slimmer. However, I feel that the edges may not last with rough usage.. in and out of pocket. I can feel the edges pretty well..
I've ordered a clear case to go round it.. that should make it last.. hopefully.

The product pages are up, but pictures didn't get finished in time. The pics will be up tomorrow, however they are pretty much the same as the Verizon EXOSkin, with obviously changes to accommodate the different cutouts.

skins for lg g2?

Unfortunately dbrand doesnt make any skins. Any alternatives?
Depending on how soon you want it. I'm just about to launch a site selling skins. I have the lgg2 so of course I have them. We only do the back because we think the fronts look a bit tacky. The site is www.fire-flex.co.uk. Sign up now and join our social media and you can grab a discount. We will probably be selling and fully running in 3 ish weeks. Some pics attached. We have made them slightly better since the photos, we go straight to the edge
Xgear eXoskin is the only one I've found that wraps around the sides. Others, like the guy above and SlickWraps, leave the edges almost completely exposed. If you're ok with that, there's a lot of options. I used a SlickWrap for a period of time. I only wanted a skin to mask that stupid glossy finish but leaving the sides uncovered defeats that purpose. It still feels greasy and I'm absolutely detests the feel of greasy, glossy plastic. Having exposed sides really makes the slight greasy side surfaces stand out given the juxtaposition to the more matte skin.
Here's my post in the Slickwraps thread. It's got pictures of the skin and the sides. I might have taken pictures of the eXoskin but I can't find them. Take my word for it, do not buy any skin that doesn't have side coverage–unless you actually enjoy greasy, glossy plastic and want to be touching it all the time. Then you probably shouldn't even buy a skin.
We have made adjustment to our final sizing and have made the effort to fit the skin to meet the silver band that runs along the edge. At the top and the bottom you can only go so far as the bend in the case is to drastic. As the LGG2 is my phone of choice I have put a lot of effort into a good fit. I have attached some more photos that (try to) show where the vinyl meets the edge. We are ready to accept orders now. So i'd just like to say if you register an account with the site you will receive a 15% discount on your orders!! You can find us @ www.fire-flex.co.uk
@heithered, I think I'm having problems with sending private messages. Please get in contact here. Turkey is a go!!

Hi spring80,
I assume your comment about the "preview" was directed at us regarding our website. We haven't finished the graphics for the Mate 10 yet as we are finalizing the skin for the Mate 10 Pro first. I would expect the graphics for both devices to be live on our site on Friday. We will also likely be posting a picture of the Mate 10 skin on our Instagram page tomorrow if you want an idea of what the back skin looks like.

What is different with edge to edge with case friendly?
The screen coverage is scratch proof? ant scatter like tempered glass?
out of liquid and bubbles
Hi PhantomSkinz. A question about full body skin (Ultra Clear) and back skin : I've some bubbles on side and I'm out of liquid provided in package. What kind of liquid i can use ?
For community : for 1 pack full body you got 2 fronts skins

The edge to edge screen protector covers virtually the entire glass. The case friendly screen protector would cover a little less of the edges for those who want to use our screen protectors in combination with a bulky case such as an otterbox. This reduced coverage would prevent the edges of the case from rubbing on the screen protector which can cause it to peel up.
Our screen protectors are self-healing which prevents them from getting minor scratches. You can see what I mean by taking a look at the video below. The heat accelerates the natural self-healing process.
I'm not sure what you mean by "anti scatter"? If you mean anti-shatter. Then yes, our screen protectors themselves would not crack or shatter as they are not made from glass, but rather a flexible polymer.

Ok understand....too bad shipping fee is more expensive than the clear type skin to Malaysia:crying:
PhantomSkinz Guru said:
You can use just water if you only need it to fix a small area. Or even just peel the skin up dry and press it back down if it is a small area, as long as you don't touch the adhesive side. Also keep in mind that if they are very small air bubbles or water bubbles from the initial installation, they will typically clear up within 24 hours or so. If you'd like to send me a DM with some pictures of the problem area, I can provide some suggestions.

Yes we know the international shipping costs are quite expensive. Unfortunately that is just what it costs us to send a package halfway around the world (it actually costs us more than what we charge because we add insurance as well). We ship everything as a package (not a letter) in order to reduce lost orders and to provide real tracking numbers for our customers. For people who are able to order multiple items, we do offer free international shipping on orders $69.95 USD or more. Unfortunately we know that is quite expensive as well, but that is the best we are able to offer at this time. Remember all of our phone kits also include 2 screen protectors.
We really wish we were able to provide a more affordable, reliable shipping option for international orders.

Paint issues with cover and screen guard

Hi Guys,
I ordered the sandstone back cover with the 5t as I read on the oneplus forums that the back cover that comes with the phone removes or messes up the paint. TBH the sandstone one sucks too. Is there a cover that does not mess up with the phone's body? Also is there any good tempered glass which can be applied even if there is a cover?
Thanks

Any case gonna do the same thing unless you clean you device regularly ( the dust goes inside the case through open cut outs and then the friction between phone and case mess it up even more) by taking it off the case. I personally do this once a day and it works for me. As for extra protection, get a dbrand skin for the back.

Thanks. Can you please share the link for that dbrand? All of my Samsung phones have GS protector but for the 5t they don't make it 360 degree protection. The pricing is same though

P.S. Should I keep on using the silicon cover that I got with the phone then?

You can purchase the dbrand skins from here.
https://dbrand.com/shop/oneplus-5t-skins
Go for the black-dragon if you're looking for some grip. Once you got it on the back, use any clear silicon case to provide some sort of drop protection as well. As for the provided silicon case, there's no harm in using it as long as keep your device dust free regularly.

Yeah i know that skinnova skins are quite cheaper but there so many reviews about them not having a great quality like dbrand. There's no mention of the use of 3M material on their site and personally I've seen its mahogany wood skin which looks like shiny plastic wrap. So basically it all comes to this end. If you want some premium quality and a great fit, go with dbrand else if you wanna save some bucks, go for skinnova skins. And don't go for the fedex shipping, you can get the untracked usps shipping to save some bucks on dbrand as well.

I've ordered dbrand skins with untracked shipping for two times and it usually got to me in less than 20 days in both the cases so i guess, not getting your parcel is highly unlikely. Plus I'd suggest you you to do the payment with paypal so your money is in safe hands.

Apparently both use the same material and adhesive
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/choose-dbrand-or-gadgetshieldz.730798/
The only difference between the installation of a protector and a skin is the application, the former needs a soap solution while the latter needs a hair dryer, right?

I get mixed reviews regarding the skinnova skins material quality and leaving a residue after removing the skins. You can check out the other skins comparison threads to get a even better idea. As for the application, yes a hairdryer is a must for the skin whereas a soap solution isn't always necessary. I'll be providing a more detailed review on the dbrand skin for the 5t once i get mine.
