Nexus Doesn't Like Stereo Jacks - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all, I've got an issue. I can listen to music just great on my N6 via 3.5mm standard non-mic or mic earbuds. I went to plug the N6 into my stereo today and the music kept playing out of the speaker when I put the jack in, but when I take it out it pauses the music. AudioFX also knows when the jack is in because the EQ switches to headphones. It's not just music that does this either, YouTube keeps playing through the speakers as well. I've tried 2 different jacks, both are just 3.5mm to RCA stereo plugs. However, I had an old pair of broken Apple headphones with a mic that I cut up and attached a 3.5mm female onto the end instead of earbuds. The setup is N6 -> modified Apple earbuds -> 3.5mm to RCA -> Stereo. This actually worked, god knows why. I want to know if anyone else had this issue, and what to do about it because I'd rather not return the phone to T-Mobile for a replacement.

New ideia for car kit

Ok, the xda as a 4 pin jack, correct?
It has the ground, the in, and the out.
So, can we amplify the signal from the out to a speaker?
And can we switch a microphone at the in pin?
Thats just an ideia!
Thanks... Ricardo Gomes
i believe that making a converter which takes 1 stereo jack for sound out
and 1 mono jack for sound in is easy to do
if you cant find connectors you can always canabilize a working headset
and cut it's wires and solder them to a female stereo mini jack and a mono minijack

yes, I know, but how can i amplify the sound for the speaker?
If you want an external speaker for use in your car, which amplifies the sound from your XDA, you could consider to buy one of these:

Of course, it would not give you the satisfaction of making something on your own, and it can't be used other places than in your car.
you could use a car tape deck and just solver the wires from the pda on the place where the tape connects to it's amp it's all AUX signals
i have also seen a tape looking device with a minijack wire out of it if you convert the mini jack to the pda's strange jack it would also work
the tape looking device

it should work with other devices then the sonic blue rio but there are also others who makes them
Hi guys,
Wonder if one can just buy one of those car cassette adapters and a 3.5 to 2.5 mm pin adapter to use the car stereo system as an amplifier and play mp3 music?
Cheers
Vic
Yes, but I dont have cassete in my car, I have a radio with frontCD. What I want is just a system that conects to the jack on the xda to speak into a micro and listen in a speaker. I dont need to plug it to the sound car system.

Mono audio from a (wired) stereo headphone?

My G1 (previously running JF roms and now Cyanogen) seems to only play audio out the right speaker of my stereo headphones. I am using the standard audio connector that came with it, and I was getting stereo output prior to Cupcake's release.
The headphones are not damaged (i.e. plugging them into my computer yields stereo sound), and the connecting cable to my G1 also appears intact, as plugging it into my phone yields a gentle stereo "pop" through the headphones.
A headphone with mic icon appears on my notification bar upon plugging in my headphones, so I'm guessing Android thinks it has a mic and only one speaker.
Is there any way (hardware or software tweak) that I can get it to output stereo audio again?
i have the same dongle, and i have cm 4.0.2. its most likely the headphones try different pair if u can
I have exactly the same issue - G1 with brand new stereo headphones, left channel about 10% sound with noise. Worked fine before convert to Cyanogen 4.2.2?

[Q] Bose on-ear headphones + cable mic

Hello everybody,
I own the bose on-ear, and I love them.
http://www.bose.co.uk/GB/en/home-an...bose-audio-headphones/bose-on-ear-headphones/
I would like to use them with my htc hd2 while calling.
Since the audio cable from the device to the headphones is removable, is it possible to have a 3.5mm female/male cable with a mic and audio controls in it?
I mean something like this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/StarTech-co...1_1?ie=UTF8&s=computers&qid=1288395589&sr=8-1
with mic and controls attached
thx

I've done a slightly different take on this, I snipped the lead between the control module and the headphones and soldered a inline 3.5mm jack socket. This enables me to plug my Sennheiser HD-25 headphones in without having to damage the lead and in fact plug any standard set of headphones in whilst keeping the full functionality of the remote module...

Is there anyone else here who uses a BOSE in-ear headphones?
I've got one and I read a few reviews AFTER I bought it that it's not loud enough. I'm not sure if this is something to do with the phone or the product is just like this.
I've had Klipsch Speakers for my PC before but unsure if their earphones are also very good compared to BOSE.

[Q] Headphone adapter with microphone

I'm searching a cable/adapter with a mic and a 3.5mm jack where I can connect a classic stereo headphones.
The reason is to use my in-ear monitor (without mic) to answer to the calls when I'm listening music.
I've found this one:
www.ebay.com/itm/360528518602
Anyone I've tried it?
Do you know a similar connector working on the Samsung Ace (or Galaxy)?
Today I've received this adapter: it works fine and finally I can use my expensive in-ear monitors for both music and calls.

Skipping audio tracks using cassette adapter

I've got a strange problem with my M7, currently running CM12.1. I use a cassette to AUX adapter on my old cars radio to play music through the speakers. When I start playing the music when it's plugged in, it seems to skip the songs indefinitely, as though you're holding the skip button, this happens on both the spotify application and the 'music' application. My guess is the phone thinks the cassette adapter is sending it commands or something like those in-line controls on earphones. This only happens when using the adapter, works fine using my sennheiser earphones. I doubt it's the adapter itself, because I've bought two of them and the same problem arose. It used to work about a year ago, could damage to the phones 3.5mm jack cause this? Remember, my earphones work perfectly.
Cheers.

Probably the cassette adapter, I don't think they designed those to be used with smartphones back in the days. I would insert the cassette adapter in the radio and take some voltage and resistance readings on the jack. There shouldn't be any voltage, if there is, that could damage your phone. Compares the resistance of each contacts on the aux jack with a set of earbuds that are equipped with a "next" button (and press it), you'll maybe found the same resistance value... Might also only be caused by the audio jack not having the same connections than a standard audio jack.
