yeah it is 2700 .. hm strange..
but it might perform same as mate 7 ..
and even weirdest thing is they switched to AMOLED ..
http://consumer.huawei.com/minisite/worldwide/mateS/specifications.htm

2700 is a joke... Especially for a Powe user..

Looking forward to see the battery test, but if it wasnt for the battery I could have pre ordered it right now.
I thought Huawei was more intelligent than that and did not jump on the small battery trend.. and instead having the biggest batteries on the market..
I wonder in what time frame we can expect Mate 8... which will have kirrin 950 and most likely 20 megapixel camera.
I really like the 2D glass..

Big screen, huge battery, decent screen to body ratio, this is why I bought HAM7 and this is why I started following HAM1 and HAM2.

I hope the battery spec is a typo

Dang, Huawei has always been on top with their batteries. Would be a shame if they slipped up with this device.... That's one thing they will have over top of all these other OEM's. Huawei is going to instill fear in all of them hahaha.

Unfortunatelly its not. On launch event they even shown some slide where was picture of battery and it had text 2620 mAh. Unfortunatelly dont have original here and its not readable on downsized version.
Bit disappointed...

Well, guess testing needs to be done to see how the battery life is. Makes me curious if they changed up the system and frameworks to accommodate for the battery life.

There are quite powerfull tools to allow selectably kill background tasks when screen is off, another to pick which apps have access to data connection (wifi/mobile separately). But not sure if they are able to limit general system draw to allow longer uptime. Disconnected from charger this morning, playing with phone quite lot and still have 59% battery. But by playing I mean setting it up, not playing games. Seems to me like usuall one day of power use, or two day of limited. No surprise here unfortunatelly, hoped for 4000+ mAh battery like old Mate 7...

I hear ya. The Mate 2 can typically last up to two days easily. Have seen it last three days even.

Does anyone know about NFC on Mate S? All sites are saying different things. Also on Huawei's consumer site it says Mate S only has b/g/n 2.4ghz wifi which is very odd. Anyone know actual specs?

There's quite a few phones that have launched without NFC which I couldn't understand and with the conflicting information of the Mate S I'm in two minds. I'm going to pre order so I guess I'll find out when I get it.
Oppo R7 Plus, OnePlus 2 and few other new releases without NFC. I know a lot of people don't use it yet but with Android Pay round the corner I can't see what manufacturers leave it out. Doesn't cost much to put in NFC. Hmmm

It has NFC. Works fine.
The Mate S I have with me doesn't see my 5G WiFi network, only the 2.4 wifis. My "old" G3 has no problem handlng the 5G nets.
The battery is 2700. It's not bad compared to the G3. More later.

I t completely doesn't matter if it supports only WiFi 2G and not 5G..
My GF has P7 which has only 2G and she doesn't complain about it.. internet works perfect in the whole house..

I gonna buy that watch also (pebble)...money is problem just for you. Not for me.
Sony is not CHIP brand. I do not want to wear a watch which is named "pebble" with black and white display !? WTF is that ? We got Multi-touch color OLED display
-Sony WATCH cost 150 bucks...what do you accept to see inside kid? GOLD ?
I checked all stores...(main web site also) the items out of stock.
No bad feedback's about latest (MN2) generation...why so negative man?
You have it ? NO.
Where you got your experiences from ? From John? hahahah Who cares what inside.... is Sony not pebble...
Were you saw bad feedback's ? (the watch working so smooth and fast)
I bought Smartwatch 3 days ago, i confirm that it works well, without any problem. Don't have any bluetooth disconnection, notifications work "in time", battery is as it should be, fully charged it on day 1, no need to plug in again at the moment.
Need more time to test it and keep my opinion to say if it's really stable and a good product.
Regarding my phone's battery, when i check battery stats, Smartwatch use 4% so i think it's reasonable.
Sony Smartwatch
Just to let others know I have now had this watch a little under a week.....My impression so far is good.....it does exactly what it says it will .......with NO disconnections(unlike its predessecor the live view which always lost the connection and barely worked). All programs work well and the device speed is surpisingly good too(switching between screens and widgets etc). My only complaint is brightness there is no way to set it and in daylight it is hard to read the screen.
I got my sony smartwatch 6 days ago and the last charge was 4 days ago. So no problem with the battery. Yes the screen does come on when i shake it which is pretty convenient i think.
Sony's watch is more of a remote viewer and notifier. It doesnt use its own android system it uses the phones i think so it may not be fair to compare it to other smart watches that have android running on them. It is a lot cheap than others at the moment.
I'm using it with a Xperia S and the bluetooth only uses 3%. If i have all the notification it can do turned on then it only lasts 14 hours. With just text and email its managing 30 hours quite nicely
Hope this helps anyone.
just a quick question sir, how do you set the screen brightness? i've looked everywhere but yet to locate the settings?

Pebble is ridden with deceptive marketing.
For example, "e-paper" display? Please do not confuse with e-ink display.
The "e-paper" display is just regular black and white pixel LCD (not different from those already in use in today's digital watches).
And now let's look at what is inside a pebble shall we?
Micron N25Q032A11ESE40F 32 Mb serial flash
STMicroelectronics STM32F205RE high-performance ARM Cortex-M3 MCU, with a maximum speed of 120 MHz
STMicroelectronics LIS3DH 3-axis accelerometer
144 x 168 pixel black and white LCD
Spring buttons for navigation
Full plastic construction

Compare this with the Smartwatch
- CPU: STM32F205RG (120MHz)
- RAM: 128KB
- Flash: 1MB (For firmware only, apps are stored on the phone, not on the watch like pebble)
- OS: uC/OS-II
- BlueTooth: Yes (3.0)
- Fm Radio: Yes (disabled)
- LCD: 1.3" OLED
- Res: 128 x 128
- Touchscreen: Yes (Capacitive)
- Brushed Aluminium housing
- Battery - 110mAh
Just looking at the cost of components alone (let's ignore the fact that Smartwatch already has hundred of apps while the pebble can only display one notification at a time and has a silly snake game as an app...), Smartwatch is a better choice by far.
The curious part of it is they use the exact same processor.

A lot of these cases have an extra silo. But it would probably defeat the purpose of the sound and spen detection setting.
I think I'm going to have this phone for awhile so I can wait another couple of weeks for one that has the s-pen slot. I find myself using it at the most random of times.
Not only dose it seen to cover the S pen but also the back speaker.
I bought a second battery from Samsung website with the 50% off code someone posted here. I haven't needed it yet, but on the rear occasion I do it will be a simple solution. For now I just switch them out every few days.
All ,
yes its a bit annoying for removing the Spen but not very difficult for people who rarely use ( i use all the time though ) it covers up the space , however speaker is not compromisd as there is a opening for the speaker , but yes S pen is a bit annoying to remove as you will need to slide the fone out .. this s not a hard case so not a tough job to open the phone up from the case...
Might get one of these if they make a little higher quality product with little lower price. Hate the LED lights, on/off switch, no hole for stylus. Most of these need to be charged separately and are usually less than 1000mah.

yea the LEDs are bit too bright , but I found the battery pretty decent not excellent though they charged my phone fom 49% to 100 % in about 1 hour not sure if it can full 3000 MAH havent tested that , the stylus missing out is defnitely a disadvantage...
I was just about the post this, found it on ebay for 28. But no spen and yes the speaker which is covered up was the deal breaker for me. Guess I'll just wait for Samsung's wireless charging.

I have (well had, untill I dropped and shattered the screen) the T-Mobile version of the Note 2, and last week, was on holidays at Disney etc.. the day started at about 8 am, and then, I'd use it non stop, navigation, web browsing, phone calls... really put the phone to use and by the end of the day, still had citca 35% left - this is the first Android smartphone I've had where I'm comfortable with the battery life. the stock battery is more than man enuff for the phones features.
Anyone find a better charging case than this?

Edit: Rated and typical capacities differ.
I saw this. A shame on OnePlus for sure. Add it to the list, along with cell provider compatibility (Verizon).
PS. Although I have pretty solid SOT, it's probably going back if I can't use it on Verizon reliably for business.
I noticed same with accuser battery app that the estimate is 3800. Maybe it's reserved/locked like a Tesla?
The rated capacity is 3880 while the typical capacity is 4000.

Or 120 mAh... If you are using that thing called 'math'
For those who have not looked closely at the photos of the battery and/or don't understand the difference between rated and typical capacity:
The battery says Rated Capacity 3800mah AND Typical Capacity 4000mah... so Oneplus HAS NOT LIED at all, it does have a battery with a Typical Capacity of 4000mah.
The Rated Capacity is what you would get if you discharged the battery at 2+ Amps... A cell phone should never be pulling that much current .... If instead you drain the battery at a much lower rate (like 200ma or less) you will get a capacity of around 4000mah.
In other words: Don't accuse someone of lieing without making sure you know what you are talking about first.

120mAh which is 3% of the advertised battery capacity and I don't remember any math class I ever took where I allowed to round up by 120 units and the answer still be valid. This isn't hard drive sales.
Edit: I'm wrong and now looking at the Galaxy S10+ and the Huawei P30 Pro all their "Advertised" capacitys are 100 mAh different from their "typical" or idea rating. It seems every flagship is doing this even though Oneplus is still cutting 20mAh extra compared to other manufacturers.

Well, that makes sense I suppose. Ifixit didn't exactly elaborate in the video, and they have a good enough reputation I think many would take what they said at face value. Like I did.
So, I will definitely scold the ifixit people for making such heinous accusations of lying next time I see them. Which is to say: I won't. And don't be a jerk.

Inbound calls from iphone x series users on Verizon are being immediately rejected (when HD Calling/Advanced Calling in enabled). It's a weird bug that they are supposedly working on.
Also, I was wrong about the capacity rating. I should have looked into it further.

OxygenOS 9.5.7 update available for 5G model

There's a new update our for the 5G variant, 9.5.7
It adds very little and quite frankly is a bit of a disgrace - this "update" is still the June path level and to make matters worse the feature disparity between the 4G & 5G is widening!

Apparently there's an ongoing issue with the patch they were going to release, hence the delay. If it was me, I'd be happier with a working phone than an updated, mebbe insecure, mebbe glitchy phone. They have said the patch will be coming soon, presumably to bring it to parity with the 4G models.

I told them the phone wasn't fit for purpose as advertised features still didn't work properly, and the continued lack of updates made me question whether they ever would.
OnePlus' silence when it comes to answering queries or support tickets about the 5G is inexcusable - they clearly aren't interested in this phone variant, and I doubt it will ever gain parity with the (lesser) 4G variant.
I'm either going to get a Note 10 or Mate 30 when they're available - I know the Note 10 can do 5G and I almost guarantee that the Mate 30 will too!
How can you go to 60Hz after using 90Hz? I went to a local phone shop to see the Note 10(+), but just because of its 60Hz screen I wouldn't buy it. Period. It just feels sluggish and laggy. All the animations feel as if they are capped because of the 60Hz display.

General Battery life experience

Hey guys,
So a month after the launch of the Galaxy S21 Ultra, what is your battery life experience? Give us your feedback and numbers.
Please mention your chipset (Exynos or Snapdragon) and post a screenshot if possible.
Personally, I'm pretty satisfied with battery life. I usually get a day and a half with around 9h of SOT. I have the Exynos model and my screen is set to 1080p with standard motion smoothness. Bluetooth is always on and I use 4G most of the time. All other settings are set to default.

How is you Phone radio usage so low. Mine is always way higher. Does that mean the signal is bad??
Can't complain, I get around 5 hours SOT a day with 30 to 40% left in the tank.
That said, I am stuck at home all day on WiFi, so sure that will decrease when I'm out and about with location on and 4g/5g but still pretty decent.
Exynos, QHD, 120hz, active 2 connected all day, some debloating and Bixby routines to switch to 60hz for some apps, turn off location/NFC/4g at home and sync/AOD on when charging
Standby for me has been amazing.

I think bad signal is definitely a factor. In my case, I stay at home most of the time (remote work) or at the office and in both locations I have a very good signal. Also my carrier doesn't support 5G yet, only 4G.

Ikr, even with Bluetooth on, I lose barely 3% at night.
Still on 91% I've been playing on my iPad all day so barely touched phone.
Had Exynos S21 Ultra that i didn't like the battery life of it. I had barley 4h of SoT.
I send it back to Samsung and got a Snapdragon HK version and i am getting 4.5h with the second full charging. I hope it gets better in a week or two.
Mine is amazing. Exynos. It keeps getting better.
I got the Exynos version.

Had Exynos S21 Ultra that i didn't like the battery life of it. I had barley 4h of SoT.
I send it back to Samsung and got a Snapdragon HK version and i am getting 4.5h with the second full charging. I hope it gets better in a week or two.

It will get better. I was like you.
Then I reset my phone and didn't use smart switch and after couple of days I am getting now around 1h SOT per 10% with bluetooth and 4d enabled. Full resolution and adaptive framerate and sometimes I switch to 96.
