Root on 5.1.1? - Infinix HOT 2

I got this phone today and it did an OTA update. I'm now on 5.1.1. Is it possible to root this phone? I'm don't think Kingroot will work and not sure I want to use it anyway.

If you root you won't be able to install updates anymore
You can root with Droid tool or King root 4.0
If you know how to, do a 100% backup with SP Flash tool
Before you try anything.

Thanks. I read on the Kingroot thread that its not working on 5.1.1. I'm a superuser kinda guy anyway, and not sure I want to use Kingroot. I'll google Droid tool to see how it works.

I can confirm kingroot works.

infinix hot 2 5.1.1
I have the same problem with the same device and king root keeps failing any idea what I'm doing wrong? I've tried the OTA and pc versions.

The update with the November security patch can't be rooted for now. I have tried all rooting softwares I know of (apks & PC) and none worked. perhaps a little more patience?

if you wish to root,
flash twrp
flash superuser zip
I'm presently rooted on 11-03 build

Lost root because of 2.2.1 update Droid 1.

Did anyone else lose root?
Is there a fix in the works?
Yes I lost root as well.
I have a Droid 1 and I don't know why I installed the OTA update, but now my root access is gone and z4root will not get it back.
I found out there is a fix though, we just have to go through the whole manual root process again:
Unfortunately I cannot post links here, so PM me if you want the how-to on fixing this.
You should be still able to use the RSDLite method. That one is permanent..i don't think the OTA would even wipe it out. Who knows though, i'm on UD2.3

How to remove updater file
My rooted Droid with 2.2 just downloaded the recent update also, but I have not allowed it to install yet. Is there a way to delete the update so it will not install and lose root? I used z4root to root the phone (worked great...very easy). I see from other posts that after the update z4root will not be allowed to re-root. Is this correct?
Thanks

If you have the option to not update, DONT UPDATE IF YOU ARE ROOTED until there is a root fix. Myself and a lot of people have buggy phones now that root has been disabled. We're all waiting for a solution. One Click Root didn't work for my Droid.

Yes and no.
No, being z4root will not work after the 2.2.1 update.
Yes being you can be rooted once again after 2.2.1
I just re-rooted (manually) and it's working great now with 2.2.1
I've had a couple people PM me about it.
Follow this guide to the "T", don't skip ahead, read everything:
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-labs/74028-root-droid-1-regardless-os-version.html
It is super fast and takes maybe 10 minutes tops.
Far from the 3 hrs or so it took me the first time I ever rooted (last June).
I was able to use SuperOneClick to re-root my phone in 2.2.1
here is a link

Yep lost mine too and working to get it back, thats why I am here. z4 was the first time i rooted my phone and it made it so easy!
I actually got my replacement device this weekend and it was on 2.2.1 but last night I tried SuperOneClick the latest version and it worked fine. Also my sprecovery was still showing stock so I used my ROM Manager from the Market to flash to clockwork mod then back to SPrecovery and also was able to make a backup of my stock 2.2.1 with nandroid. Hope this helps.

Rooting 26A

Hey guys,
First to let you know, I was a victim of the latest brick. I got a warranty replacement (don't ask). The phone came in today. The only reason why I want root is to be able to use the mobile hotspot. I'm still grandfathered into unlimited. I don't want to flash or do a custom ROM or a custom recovery. I like the stock ROM. I just only need root to do the mobile hotspot.
Anyway, so on to my situation. I downloaded ioroot, installed the latest drivers, enabled everything, allowed the RSA fingerprint. I ran the root.bat file and it didn't make it through the first step. ADB said it was rebooting phone into stock recovery...except it didn't. I've tried it now 3 times and I get the same result....green android with the red exclamation.
Am I stuck until someone figures out root on a 26A? I read that it should work but haven't read anywhere if someone has successfully rooted 26A out of the box. Is there something I can do to bypass? Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks

Stump root is supposed to work on 26a.
Sent from my VS980 4G
Yup...no sooner then I posted this, I read a thread on stump root. Trying it now.
Just to update...I have full root by the stump root method. Was a lot easier then expected. I prefer this method way more then the ioroot method.
Were you able to get recovery installed. I ran into the same situation you did after my son took the update on his phone while it was rooted. If so what recovery method did you follow?

Was wondering this myself. Just got a refurb G2 from Verizon after my wife's first one had a screen issue. It shipped with 26a and I used stump to root it, but not quite sure the best method to follow to install twrp.

stump root parse error
I am trying to install stump root on the 26a, and i keep getting the parse error.
I have enabled unknown installs.
I have also uploaded to dropbox and google drive to install from there but still no luck.
Not sure what else to do.
Edit
Fixed the problem. I was downloading stump root through es file explorer before.
When I downloaded through chrome it worked

Are you unable to use the mobile hotspot BECAUSE you have an unlimited plan?? Sorry if thats a dumb question, I'm coming over from Sprint and the reason I ask is that I'm on tiered data and I can use mine..

Verizon would make you pay for a separate tiered plan for Mobile Hotspot when on unlimited. I'm guessing that's still the case.

d959 20s no root

Has anyone found a way to root? With no more download mode we can't even downgrade... No root methods work eg: towel, stump, vroot,io etc...
If anyone does find a way to root please update here!
Someone posted in another thread that they gained root on the D95920s with stumproot. I was going to flash back to stock at some point today to take the upgrades and test it out. Will update my findings later.
Yes! Root!
I just got done testing. I installed the latest update which broke root. I used STUMP to root. It worked! Verified with root checker before and after running STUMP.
Do any of you have the OTA update file?
Stump says already rooted

Any luck? I try stump root and it says device us already rooted. I guess I should have used lg flash tool first to completely restore, and then maybe stump root would've worked? I think it is kinda dumb that stump root refuses to even try to root your device if it has been rooted before but lost root due to ota. If only it had a message like "it appears your device is already rooted, would you like to reroot anyway?" Or something like that. Anyways I'm getting by okay without root, so its no big deal if I am stuck, but if there is a way to make stump root work that would be cool.
@steven_computer_guy. Did u try going to playstore and download/install SuperSU apk and then recheck if your rooted or not?
Yup. SuperSU says "there is no supersu binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem"
Try factory reset via button combo and try towel or stump root?

Guide to Root without Pc

Hello,
I'm buying much devices, test it and sell it.
But I like the zuk z1 very much (SOT is awesome)
So I search for a possibility to root the device,
Without going to the pc (adb method or smth) or just lazy like me.
Setup:
New z1 / 3AJ Firmware
Download kingroot Click me
Guide:
Download kingroot and open it,
Follow the instructions. U should be rooted.
Proof in the attachment, I hope it works for u all.
Bugs:
Some apps doesn't work. Better battery stats is one who don't work.
Edit:
BBS worked! , need two reboots to get it to work.
Maybe more, report if u try this method.
Just wait for CyanogenMod, no MS-Apps, no Bing, no 1 million Google Apps, Root just one click...
Hm.
U can freeze or de-install all that ****ty apps. ^^
Won't rooting stop the software updates which it clearly needs? That's what's stopping me atm
You can also get Supersume at the plays store to get rid of KingRoot, and put in CF Supersu.

I recall seeing that link a while back, but I could not find it, but I heard about Supersume, so I went that route instead.
I have ordered my Zuk Z1 on Thursday. I hope it will arrive until Tuesday. So I'm orientating already about how to root and so on. I don't see why you should root with Kingroot as you don't get updates from Cyanogen anymore when you have rooted the phone. It's a lot easier to unlock bootloader, flash TWRP and than flash SuperSu in my opinion, isn't it? Or do I miss something?
As far as I know, the problem is not Kingroot, but rather that in process of rooting the system partition is changed to read and write (r/w). Now every time the ota update script is running, they check if the that is the case and if so won't install the ota.
Just btw. I read in an other post here, that SuperSU replaces some files and that even if you should unroot, they still change them back, which also prohibits the OTA update script from running.
Which ever way you root and whatever recovery you have installed, you can still sideload the the updates, without loosing any of your data.
Download the "...ham-signed.zip" from this link
Here is the link to the post about the OTA files:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/zuk-z1/development/official-ota-update-links-ota-updating-t3226990
And give Breadcrust and Radii a thanks next time you see one of their posts
P.S.: I have no clue of any of these things/ I am in no way a developer, it's just what I have found out so far, what it comes down to...

Hey , I just bought a zuk z1 and would like to root it with the application you have reffered (kingroot) but when I start kingroot it says that there is no way of rooting this model right now .
Can u please give any other app to root zuk z1 without PC or tell me if there is any system update if any ??.
I would really appreciate it ???
My name is Vishnu am from Thrissur my device is Lenovo zuk z1. I cannot root my phone
Please help me guys. My android version 5.1.1. ???

Used KingRoot to root my device, but cannot uninstall it after with SuperSume

I'm using a Samsung-SGH-I537UCUCOC7, Android Version is 5.0.1
TowelRoot didnt work for my device so I used KingRoot as a last resort. However I only wanted to use it to install the root and not have it around as its a bit intrusive. I tried using SuperSume but no matter what I do when I run it, it always stops at 10%. I've tried 5 different times.
Do I have any other options?
Do you have full root or does it go away when you reboot? If you have permanent root and SuperSUMe is not working there is also a script file you can use. You'll have to search for it. I had the same problem with a Kyocera Hydro Icon I had. I ended up using the script, but I think I figured out why at first neither of them were working.
If you could try something as a test for me I'd appreciate it. In my case I rooted the phone with an older version of kingroot, then kingroot updated itself to the new app...but not the new binary. So I unrooted with the newer app and then rerooted with it also so I would have the new binary. After that the script worked for me and I bet SuperSUMe would've too, but I tried the script first.
So try unrooting and rerooting with the newest version then try SuperSUMe...if it fails then try to find the script.

I used version 5.0.4 of kingroot. How low do you want me to go?
Also the binary thing your talking about I noticed it when I downloaded SuperSU it said it was missing some binary and I couldnt use that app either even after I rooted with KingRoot. It sounds like my only hope is that script you were talking about but I'll try a lower version of KingRoot first. I have no idea where I would look to find that script so I can get more info what I'm suppose to search for let me know.

For me I rooted with whatever version you get from their website, but after you root it downloads and updates itself. I unrooted and rerooted with the update to get the new binary. Also, I'll see if I still have a copy of the script on my cpu. If I do I'll post you a link.

I used version 4.5 instead of the latest 5.0.4 and afterwards ran SuperSume. It got rid of it no problem and I still have my root access. Thank you.
last question, I also own a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. It was my first Android phone ever and I wasnt aware that AT&T keeps the bootloader locked on their phones. Will any amount of begging and crying to them get them to unlock the bootloader? If the answer is no are there any unofficial means to unlock my bootloader for the phone?

Not too sure but I think it's possible. They unlocked and rooted the verizon and t-mobile versions, so possibly...maybe even by the same process. Search youtube.
