Remove search bar in app drawer/revert to older app drawer. - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

At some point today my phone updated and changed my app drawer to some new style. I don't care for the search bar at all, its useless to me completely. Is there any way to remove it, or revert to the older one without rooting?
I also would like to remove the recent apps or whatever that is at the top.

My phone did this after updating Android System Webview. I sure I hope I can revert it back to the OG look.

I don't think it's the Web view. I guess I'm going to have to find another launcher

I've had a system update for a few days now, after webview updated I tried opening the app drawer and it's now different, and I have yet to install the OTA.

Huh..You got vertical app drawer and i didnt..HOW??

I'm guessing you're running the Android 6.0 dev preview? Looks like Google Now on Tap.

My phone is bone stock, not rooted only ota updates from Google. No dev view anything.

your google app has updated, try going to settings > apps > google app and uninstall updates, should let you revert to an older version.

Android 2.3 complete look with Cyanogenmod 7

Many of you unaware that the look of Cyanogenmod 7 doesn't represent the look of Android 2.3, with only the top bar looking like it did in 2.3 the rest is ADWLauncher, So with ADWlauncher ex you can customize the look more, And what i'm after is the remaining 2 things i need.

As you can see the dock isn't really the same as it is in 2.3 so anyone out there with the right file?
Also the drawer icon is low quality, all i need are those 2 items, please help me find them.
Did you try just taking the images directly out of a Gingerbread launcher.apk?
While I'm here, love the use of the new Chrome icon for the browser - would you mind uploading it?
EDIT: After fishing through a Gingerbread launcher.apk, it seems the dock background is actually made of multiple images, since there's no single .png for it. The app drawer icon's an easy find, though. I'll upload the apk for you.
Have you thought of using the gingerbread launcher instead of adw.?

I know what you mean dude, and i agree but also you do get a lot more in the way of customization with ADW...then again there IS a Gingerbread theme on the market for it :S why bother with this?

New Market?

Anyone else get the new market update? I cleared my market data and restarted it and my market was different. Version 3.4.6. It is now renamed to play store. Also there is an update for Google music which changes the icon and name. Go check it out.
Wow I didn't believe you at first... but I opened the market and saw

I can't get past the change mentally. It's stupid I guess but the branding change just feels wrong. I think some things become iconic and for some reason the Google Market and the icon for it became deeply rooted for me.
Does anyone else feel that way?
i like the new icon but not sure if i like google play.

Torch light 1.24 widget runs in background + has lots of permissions

Hi,
I was using the task manager that installs with Go Launcher EX to have a look around and noticed that the torch widget/app that came with the stock GB install was running in the background. When I killed it, it restarted automatically and when I checked its permissions it had pretty much free run of everything (see pic - and that doesn't show the lot).
Now, I may be being paranoid, but this setup looks very suspicious for a simple torch app - anyone with more experience of such things care to comment.

Block those with Droidwall.
I don't understand why stock music player on ICS (and may be on GB too) can read email attachment, sms/mms ?
Yes, weird. I've actually frozen it with Titanium Backup and installed a free widget from the Play Store.

Google play service asking for update

if i click disable i get this message saying some nonsense about device administrator.
when i click OK it just closes.
so i went to settings - security - device admin. and of course there was no Google item there and all the 3 items i had there were NOT selected.
searching was mostly futile as that keyword filled the internet because people flash custom roms and forget to read about the gapps part i did found one thread saying that you have to remove all Google accounts before updating this... but if i remove all Google accounts i won't even be able to freaking open the play store...
what am i missing here?

You could try updating it manually.
This post on AP has the latest update and explains how to choose the right one for your device.

Restore stock android wear stopwatch

See latest update below.
Hi XDA, I need some assistance in finding the APK for the stock android wear stopwatch. Prior to 6.0.1, I had both the Samsung stopwatch and the stock Google stopwatch, after installing the update I could not find the stock stopwatch anywhere on the watch, I have attempted to search thru OTA and system dumps for the APK but so far I have had no luck.
Any help would be appreciated.
P.S. Here is the app I am talking about.

Update
So after finding a pull of the system from July 2014, I have found that the stopwatch is contained within the DeskClockMicroApp.apk and its matching .odex file, now I need some assistance as the apk has a conflicting package name with the clock app currently installed.
Update 2: Progress
So I have decompiled the apk, changed the package name, and recompiled and signed with a debug key. The app works when launched via voice actions and set as default stopwatch HOWEVER it does not show up in either the native app drawer or wear mini launcher (It also does not show up in the app drawer when installed to my phone, however, creating a shortcut within activity launcher allows launching and using the app)
So here I am, the app works but you have to use voice actions, if anyone knows how to fix the icon, please reply.
