A complete mess... - Samsung Gear Live

Hi guys,
I've received my Gear Live yesterday.
Immediatly begin to play with it, installing Android Wear on my Lollipop Note 3.
Btw, she was on Knx01q.
Paired the watch, surfing a little bit on the computer and some time after, the watch was no more connected to the phone.
On the screen there's a nice "Google Play services has stopped"... Then the same with "com.google.process.gapps"...
After some investigations and trials, I can tell this happen when the watch try to download the next update. No more bluetooth, force close again and again when I try to go on the "About" menu...
I've tried to downgrade to the kmv78y firm and it seems to resolve the problem, but if I upgrade, the mess continue, force close after a moment and I can't pair the watch anymore.
Trying to update to the lollipop update manually, no chance at all... Sideload failed, TWRP install failed, ...
Have you any idea of what's going on ? I think I'll send back the watch to the seller soon.
Thanks guys.

There was an update to Android Wear on the Play Store yesterday. All the comments say they lost connectivity after updating. I think I'm going to wait before getting the update for the app. You may see if you can find an older version of Android Wear from another app store.

Thanks for your answer.
In a last light of hope, i've installed the LDZ22J update provided here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-live/development/unofficial-samsung-gear-live-restore-t3132500.
I simply replace the files in the Samsung Gear Live Restore Tool and choose to restore back the watch to stock.
It's working and the watch is now with Lollipop without loosing connection or force closes... Just a little problem persist, with some watch faces, when the screen become dimmer
the watch face just turn into some "inverted colors" mode... Don't know if it's normal ?
Thanks again.

The inverted color mode is kind of like a battery saving mode. Most watch faces have this mode.

A lot times after an update is performed, Google services crash. A simple watch reset should get it back working again

Thanks guys.
The weird thing is when I downgrade the watch to the first update, it was almost OK. But when she try to update from KNX01Q, after a little moment the force closes begin and the watch was completly useless.
Since I update to LDZ22J it's ok and I can finally play with it. Now the watch try to update to LCA43 (I suppose) I get an error about "libgnustl_shared.so" in the recovery. Again, I've tried to update manually with sideload, same error...
So for now I'm stuck with LDZ22J with an update card but no way to update... If you guys have a dump of LCA43 with .img somewhere...
Thanks.

[Q] Battery dying in 12 hours! - Solved

Hey guys,
For some reason my Gear dies in half a day and I can't work out why. I'm using Skin's modded Tizen ROM but have been doing so for months and this has just started to happen.
- I have no apps installed;
- I don't have auto on when I raise my wrist, although I've tried it with this on and makes no difference;
- I've reset the phone to factory settings. It was actually fine during the day. Put it in my drawer over night, woke up 7 hours later and it had gone from 75% to dead!
- Reset it AGAIN and it's still muffed!;
- Uninstalled the Gear s/w and reinstalled to no avail.
I may be barking up the wrong tree here, but it seemed to coincide with the orange coloured version of the Gear manager. Does anyone have the apk for the previous version where it was all white with a colourful top border please? Or failing that, have any idea what the hell my watch thinks it's up to?
Thanks!
EDIT
Solution
1. Deleted the Gear software (and checked for any remainders in the file manager...although personally I found none);
2. Hard reset the watch, just in case;
3. Installed Gear Manager 2.1.14071502 (courtesy of Brendo);
4. Paired and got it all working well. This alone sorted the battery life which was nice.
5. I let the software update automatically; (obviously bypassing the dodgy version)!
6. Boom! It works fine with the latest app!
Did you try resetting watch? Check link in my sig for older versions of gm

Yep I've also reset the watch on two occasions. Still dying within 9 hours Cheers for the apk's though, I'll see if that makes any difference. Otherwise I may have to ditch Skin's ROM and try the official - see if that helps.
I am getting almost the same thing over the last few days. My Gear Manager updated to a newer version and I have had the issue ever since. Idk what about updating that on my phone would have to do with the Gears battery life but I have changed a few settings on my notifications to see if that is going to help. I also keep getting "saproviders has stopped" CONSTANTLY. Was popping up every 3 seconds and I could not do anything with my phone. Finally got into Titanium and froze that app and I have had no more issues with that on my phone but I don't think that is cause my Gear to have poor battery life would it? I may have to go back to a older version of Gear Manager.
Similar thing for me with saproviders although it was happening because I had disabled Unified Daemon (EUR) process. Reenabled it and that went....although sometimes the UD(EUR) drains my phone battery and is really only used for weather updates.
As for the draining issue, I'm having a go with Gear Manager 2.1.14071502 and seeing if it makes any difference. So far it is, but I will report my findings back in 24hrs!

That is exactly the version I downloaded also. Gonna have to figure out how to get it to stop wanting to auto update to the newer versions. Just gonna set my settings and not go back to gear manager for awhile. See if it makes a difference for my Gears battery life before I go looking at anything else.
Okay that has fixed it, going back to Gear Manager 2.1.14071502! The watch has been on for 3.5 hours and is still at 100% rather than 55% as it was yesterday!!!
WTF Samsung?!?!
What the hell have they done with their latest Gear app? It must be causing some sort of wakelock on the watch itself.
Guess I'll wait for a month for newer releases.

Good to know about the Gear Manager, I was gonna suggest a reset , but doing the reset via "recovery" , instead of selecting "download" like when using Odin, you select "recovery" and it resets also. I've done the reset that way in the past and it fixed my issues. I had looked all over the Tizen OS for battery stats with no luck. Maybe the Gear somehow stash's the stats or something on the phone instead...? Hmm, I'm gonna dig around in gear manager..

Yea have a look Chris. Actually I did reset via the GM first time, the second time I did it via the hardware...as in hold power, keep tapping it and reset that way. Both ways made little unfortunately.
My watch was still on 97% after 8 hours of none use over night so I'm pretty sure it's GM. However, now it wants to update and I literally cannot stop it If I say no, it exits the app, if I say yes the obvious happens. How can I block it?
Also, just for fun I've let it run the update. I know the first version of the 'orange GM' had issues and Samsung updated that immediately. I'm speculating over whether that first cocked up version brought over an issue into the latest one. Thereby if I go from an even older version to the latest, the issue may disappear... as always, I'll keep posting results.
after downgrading GM to previous version, my battery life also improved, after 9 hours of having it at work, taking some pics, sync to internet i had 70% left. gorgeous!
i will never ever press update again. each update only brings more bugs and no new functionality.
Well now I want to potentially throw a curve ball...although we'll see by tomorrow. After downgrading to 2.1.14071502 then upgrading to the latest my gear has been sat idle for 2 hours and sits at 100% battery life.
If this works, it means the previous version of the latest software created some kind of bug and carried itself through to the latest revision. So - this *may* have sorted it. I'll have to keep an eye on it for now but it's looking promising.
i did downgrade but it force app to upgrade or it will stop
Well I've never double posted before in my life! Not sure how that happened - apologies
Right it appears to be fixed (finally).
24 hours - 8% battery use - using the latest Gear software...GREAT!
Theory
The first version of the new batch of gear software had some weird bug causing a wakelock on the watch. Upgrading the app didn't remove it.
What I did
1. Deleted the Gear software (and checked for any remainders in the file manager...although personally I found none);
2. Hard reset the watch, just in case;
3. Installed Gear Manager 2.1.14071502 (courtesy of Brendo);

5. I let the software update automatically; (obviously bypassing the dodgy version)!
6. Boom! It works fine with the latest app!
All of that said, you may be able to skip steps 3-5 and directly install the latest version....but I tried that and for some reason I still has horrendous battery life.
I'm not sure why the steps above fixed it, but they did. So have a go if this is pi**ing you off as it may just work.
Cheers!
@jonboyuk I've done what you did ,didnt work , even downloaded latest version 2.2.14092299 from @Brendo but still keeps the going to 2.2.14090599 and saprovider FC , i did clean data saprovider and uninstall it worked , but after restarting gear and re-connect it back as it was even uninstalling saprovider wont help anymore.
so now its draining battery so quick. and media control not working.

I ran the same previous version of GM you did. I got GREAT battery life with it. Completely fixed my problem. Now I do have that stubborn update that keeps popping. This is what I do. I click GM app. Update popup comes up and says Cancel or Update. I click the update and when the DL starts, I hit the home button on my GS4 to minimize the app and then i hold the Home button to clear all apps which shuts down the GM app and kills the update. Then I go back to GM app and it does not ask me to update any more. It stays away until I reboot the phone normally. Temp fix i guess but Ill look into it more and see if there is a way to completely stop it.

I had this issue. I went into Titanium Backup and froze the SAProviders app. Stopped the popup because it was constantly popping up and was very annoying and could not use my phone at all. Frezzing the app solved the pop up but the bad battery life still stayed until i reverted back to a older version of the GM app like I said in the comment above this one. Still looking for a way to perm stop the update from popping up.
Downgrde to previous GM

Every time I try to go back it re-installs 599. Even if I stop it by holding down the home button and close all apps. I re-open GM and it goes right back to downloading additional software. Has anyone figured a way around this? My watch is dead in 6 hours the way it is now so it's basically useless...

first you need to uninstall new Gear Manager, then disable Samsung Apps (Settings->Apps), and then install older GM, you choose. That helped me to disable auto GM update from Samsung, what was very nervous...
Guys, I removed with Titanium all the Gear stuff and installed the 14071502 version without a problem. Freezing SAProviders stopped the update notification from showing up. But my Gear still uses around 10%/hour of battery Anything else I can try?

I have also installed the 2.1.14071502 version. To prevent forcing to upgrade to 2.2, I just disabled Wifi and 3G.. so, it only installs the software of this version. When I got paired, I go to Gear Manager Setup and uncheck the Automatic Update .. so, I only have that version. For goprovider FC, I installed the version from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2758364 (goprovider-signed-20140529.apk )
And that's all! I have a working goprovider, with 2.1 Manager.... BUT, this version doesn't allow the notification from any app! So, I don't get notifications from WhatsApp, FB, skype.. none! So, do you have another later version (not 2.2)? or any other way to get Whatsapp,etc notifications?

error after Android Wear apps update

ever since the Android Wear apps on my phone got updated to version 1.0.5.1785466 , my watch has been getting random "com.google.process.gapps has stopped" error ..
anyone else experiencing the same ?
EDIT : so after going through a rather painful day that involve several restart, connect and disconnect .. everything seems to be ok now .. hopefully just a bad update procedure ..
Yepp !
Many errors with this update.
Mine didn't synch steps with Google Fit anymore, even after full reset.
Same. I woke up this morning to the app being updated and it broke a whole bunch of things. WatchMaker for one. Its only my second day with this thing.
P.S. Try reverting the android wear app back a revision. Seemed to have fixed the issues. Also, determined the watch face doesn't work.
I've opened a ticket with Google. It's a bad update. I'm going to roll back a version using Titanium Backup.
It's really a bad update!
In my case this Android wear app update is DRYING my phone's battery (LG G2)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android-wear/help/android-wear-app-version-1-0-5-1785466-t3060252
With my LG g watch R seems all OK...
Lorenzo
LG watch R No Longer Works Correctly after 1.0.5.1785466
Constant disconnect and battery drains. Android Wear doesn't display the watch faces anymore. Watch Maker no longer is work also. Performed Multiple factory resets on the watch and uninstall/reinstall Andriod Wear. NOTHING seems to work. Called Google and the Support person said there hand are tied and that the the Engineers are working on it. This watch is very expensive for it not to work make me extremely upset.

[Q] Remove Update Notification?

So I wasn't getting the lollipop update notification so I went into about phone and clicked on software updates to make sure it was set to on. But it checked for the update and started downloading it and there was no cancel button. So now I have this notification which I can postpone for a maximum of one day.
Is there anyway to remove this notification? I'm probably going to wait out any updates till a 5.1 stock update is released. My phone runs great as is, no reason to update.

Try pulling down notification and tap and hold on the notification and go to app info. Does it say Android System or something else?
It says Software update version 3.19.140911. I can't disable the notifications from it or force stop from app info. It is greyed out.
Your device isn't rooted is it?
Nope not rooted.
I guess I could factory reset to try and get rid of it.
if you take to long it just upgrade by it self.
In the past the way I would get around it was to delete the downloaded file from the cache folder and it would fail and go away. You need to be rooted to get to the file though
A quick search and I found this thread so you can try what Iron56 did.
"Okay, I managed to get rid of the notifications by long pressing on the notification to invoke App Info and then Force Close it. It no longer bothers me, but judging from my remaining space in the internal storage, I still have 400mb of OTA downloaded firmware which I can't seem to find using ES File Explorer. Where is it? "
I am not sure if it will work with the newer firmware but you can give it a shot.
Well I can't force close from app info as it is disabled.
I can seem to close the Software Update application from application manager. But the notification stays.
I have the same issue here, I just wanted the Stagefright patch but it wants me to update to Lollipop and I have only heard bad things on the Note4
All it let me do was clear cache
I avoided upgrading for a couple months. Then I'm at my kids summer camp and accidentally somehow hit the update button (as the update screen is what shows when I first unlock the screen). This was a few weeks ago. Now I got a notification for the stagefright one and just took it. Lollipop does have issues but I'm hoping the 5.1.1 update will be out soon and fix it up.
lol just get rooted and freeze it with "Software update" with titanium backup

Just took this update today. It's definitely smoother. They did something with this release beyond just security patches, or maybe just clearing the cache. I can't find anything online about what's in it tho. If anyone can find release notes I'd love to read.

Any link to flash update manually?
Does anyone know how to manually clear the cache on the Urbane?
Ahh, so now I'm thinking its time for AW2 for UB2 as from this UB feedback seems the new update is smoother.

The update has shown up on my urbane with skin1980's EXT4ALL rom, so I flashed stock, but on stock it doesn't show up.

I don't own the UB, I own the UB2, but looking in forums on other watches, seems if you disable phone bluetooth, on Watch enable Wifi and then go into settings about system update and keep clicking 20-50 times seems to kick it a bit earlier. Don't know if this method will work with UB.
Maybe a staged rollout? Mine just appeared after charging.
Just got the update started on mine. Showed up randomly saying an update was available and I just got one a couple days ago too so I'm not too sure what that was about. Either way, I'm hopeful for better performance as some of the lag, especially with google assistant is unbearable.
Edit: So after update, it looks like I'm on build number NXG47C with March 1, 2017 security patch level.
I would think NXG is older than NXH? Mine was also manually sideloaded the AW2 update so I'm not sure if that has something to do with how I get updates now. Guess I'll have someone call me and see what happens.
Edit 2: I do have a call decline option now. Does not let me answer the call, but I can decline...so I guess that's useful. Though I dont remember if I had this option before since I always just answer/decline on my phone. The watch did respond to the call coming in pretty fast though which is nice.
Wow, this update really made things MUCH smoother. It is really usable device now!
Seems like Google-Assistant is working again
Received my update yesterday. Definitely is allot smoother, Google Assistant doesn't take a decade to open anymore. Could have sworn Ok Google would work with "always on" turned off and wake the watch up, but it doesn't seem to anymore, but not 100% sure it did before the update anyway.

Yes : you have to enter into recovery mode. For that reboot the watch, while rebooting swipe from top-left to bottom-right to enter bootloader, in bootloader select recovery mode then select wipe cash partition
Does it feel like battery drain is more after the update?
Not happy with forced update.
My URBANE was working fine with Skin1980's EXT4ALL.
The update installed itself last night while charging the watch, and now it's stuck in a recovery loop (TWRP).
Can anyone help me turn this paper weight back into a watch again?

AdChoice Ads Randomly Popping Up - Please Help Me!

So, I am suddenly getting these AdChoice ads popping up on my Galaxy Note 8 (VZW).
They pop up all the time, out of nowhere, no matter what I'm doing on my device.
I haven't really installed anything new lately.
I've updated the firmware with the latest security update (OTA). And, I do recall my phone freezing up while taking a video (stock camera) around the time this may have begun to occur.
How can I get these annoying ads to stop?!?!?!
Must be from an app you have installed.

skip the guesswork and do a master reset FDR AND SETUP AS NEW DEVICE with no backups restored until the ads disappear , because if you restore all it will repeat ads. https://thedroidguy.com/2018/05/galaxy-note-8-keeps-showing-ad-pop-ups-mobile-data-turns-off-calls-issues-1076787

This.
OP, skip the factory reset suggestion and narrow down the problem to one of your apps. Think games, etc. Factory reset is last resort, and truly overkill for a single app. Besides, if you dont narrow it down now you will likely end up in the same position anyways down the line . Better to resolve it now. Cheers.
