App compatibility? - Galaxy Tab S2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, Just got a tab S2 with 5.02 on it. It's the SM-T815 model. According to the play store, all of the MS office apps are "incompatible" with this device (ie, word, excel). Is this due to the tablet model or the version of android? They run on my nexus 7 with kitkat just fine.

Ahh, good to know. Thanks!

Hi.
You can use the website below to download the app, then you can sideload them and see if they really dont work.

They should work, I don't see the reason why it shouldn't, my came pre installed, so I'm not sure why it's not available for download.

Could the S2 4:3 aspect ratio be incomparable with the apps? or at least throwing the comaptibilty checker.
John.

Why sideload, you can just download direct to the tablet and install?
Tbh this one is better, apart from the odd annoying ad, it gives better results.

Thanks all. Ended up side loading them, and as expected they work fine. Not sure why they are listed as not supported.

One note has never worked with my tablet. I have tested to uninstall and reinstall without success.

I've just tested mine, it works ok, although I don't really use it.

I never had any problems with the microsoft apps on my tab s2. (9.7 LTE) In Germany on the unbranded Version, they`re preinstalled. But you can install them with Galaxy Apps from samsung, and keeping them updated. Google Playstore often beeing strange with it`s "incompatible" message......Often you can download it by changing DPI or faking a Phone , and them run fine as they should. Think, it´s a thing of the account owners settings. If he set the wrong android Version, or else.....maybe at this case, It`s about the license, if Samsung paid for the exclusive License to offer MS Apps over their App Store to the Tab S2, Google isn`t allowed to offer it to this device. But I´m not sure.......

I have 'word' pre-installed on my tab s2, however when I try to type anything the keyboard does not popup so I cannot type anything, but it does when using other MS apps like excel. Does anyone have any idea why this happens in word only? (btw, it has been updated to latest version)

About these microsoft word, excel, and powerpoint apps... i tried them, but do i need to buy them or subscribe for me to edit a document? Because right now it only aĺlows me to read... whenever i try to edit, it states... i need to subscribe, etc...

No, it would require emulating more-or-less the whole iOS.

buy an iPhone?
[Sorry, had to be said]
I think I know exactly what the op is talking about.
Maybe some of you guys might gave seen some chinese guys made exact replicas of some stock iphone apps such as the compass, calculator, stocks, notes, etc. They had exact functionality as their iphone counterparts. Im sure the op means if there were ipad ones like that. I myself was looking around online for something like that but found nothing, hopefully soon something will be out.
^ Those are called clones.

Of a whole OS? Look at where e.g. Wine is; there are still, after over a decade of development, plenty of software that refuses to work at all or that have major issues.
Emulating the hardware itself might be easier, but that would still be an enormous hurdle in and of itself, you'd need a heavily-modified iOS ROM somewhere, and the apps would be running inside that emulator, not on Android itself, and it would waste quite some battery power. Not to mention that it would all run in software and slowly until the emulator devs worked out how to do atleast some indirect acceleration, something that would most likely take YEARS of work even with a dedicated group.
Why? iOS is complete junk...if you want iOS apps get an iPad or iPhone...or iWhatever...stupid i****.

maybe a much better question is which apps are you looking to install, maybe something similar exists on Android.

S5 Mini (G800F) - recommendable phone?

Hi guys and girls,
short question, but important:
Is the G800F a good shot? What are your experiences? A family member wants to buy a new phone (a mini version, because its mini ), so I recommended the S5 Mini.
Please tell me some negs and pros, before we buy the wrong phone..
S5 is brilliant, so I hope the mini is it, too..
Thank you

Yes, I am also a flash-o-holic, but if the russian fw runs correctly on the german phone is the question.. (baseband f.e., kernel...)

all other things are the same no need to worry
The phone is not in my hands then, I can not flash it because of 600 kilometers between us so the phone gets lollipop when sammy released it.. Would it be mine, I would flash cm or similar one
We hope that sammy really pushes the update out.. Talking about marshmallow is a joy, just not more than a good joke, I believe...

I came from a desire hd to g800f (uk)
Run the software updates asap, fix quite a few issues.
Phone size is similar, but lighter.
Battery, providing you don't keep 4g/sync/gps on all the time you'll see 2-3 days normal use even more if you don't use it much. I've had 7 days so far.
Speed, well I had an old smart phone so this is incredible.
All apps I've used work well except sphere camera.
The only downsides, bundled Samsung crap and the emoticons in messages like to use mms over sms so watch out on that part.
The screen always turns on when receiving sms and I've accidentally gone through menus and called people from my pocket.
Depending which pocket you put it in, I find I press the screen on button in my right pocket so need to carry in my left.
Overall, it's good & well priced

Baterie no good
I come from S4 Mini. For me it was a big biiiig update: LED notification, larger screen, HD display, etc etc... S5 is by far better then the S4 in my eyes. BUT!
I am aswell a flash-o-holic - I always need to have the perfect rom for my uses - and the S4 Mini was in these terms godlike. My last flashings were a few month ago..
The S5 Mini especially the 800F isnt somehow... loved enough?.. to get some custom Roms. I am curently on CM12.1 by hennymcc (TY for your work!) and I am not really satisfied with this rom and it needs some improvements (photo quality, cant connect to my bt box..)
I really am thinking of turning back to stock...
Next consideration is: this device is forgotten by samsung.
5.1.1 will be released 2019! *jk
I am in sort of a pickle. I've had the S5 for a couple months now and I, too, come from a phone that had an amazing variety of choices when it came to ROMs. Unfortunately (I live in Germany), I have the G00F and there is only 1 ROM currently available (CM12.1) and it is still in beta development. The ROM was sort of useable but crashed quite a bit), but the bluetooth worked perfectly. I went back to the stock ROM and everything works great, but the bluetooth is terrible. The phone is pretty much unusable when the bluetooth is on and connected with headphones or something else. Other than bluetooth issues, the phone works perfectly.
how exactly is it unusable? did you try re-flashing your device or did you use any third party bluetooth apps?
Im curious cause I think I will really go back to stock.

P9 and T-Mobile

I just picked up my P9 from the post office and will be taking it down to the T-Mobile store after work. I tried to look at their "bring your own phone" compatibility list and it didn't show the phone as compatible. I'm assuming it is compatible because it has LTE band 2 & 4, correct? Is there anything else I should know about using it on the T-Mobile network?
I use my P9 on T-Mobile with no issues. Gets LTE just fine. You won't have VOLTE though.

Thanks for the help. Most everything is okay now except some apps and the Android browser still go to Chinese and I can't figure out how to fix that. Most of the apps are the Huawei ones. And even though I set Google as the default browser, the Android one still keeps popping up. Any clue how to change the language? I looked in the browser settings and didn't see anything for that. Would have been nice to have been warned that "International version" really means Chinese. Only reason I went with this over the others was it was the larger memory and RAM. Live and (expensively) learn, I guess

Oh, so you got the 4gb RAM Chinese model. I'll trade ya! ? Unfortunately, I'm not too familiar with that one, as the L09 has Google services preinstalled. Also, Chrome comes as the default browser.
I'm familiar with Xiaomi phones, and when using their Chinese ROM, even though I set the language as English, I'll still see Chinese text in their default browser and some apps. Some things you'll just learn to live with I guess.
Maybe someone who actually has the model you have can give you better answers.

So no one has figured out VoLTE? What a bummer. Such a shame to get a phone that is modern in every way except the thing that matters the most - cellular connectivity. VoLTE already been around for years and these phones don't support them, let alone the new RCS/EVS.

From my understanding, it's not that they can't. It's that T-Mobile won't allow them to unless they go through T-Mobile certification of some kind. Since the Phone wasn't really a USA/T-Mobile release, T-Mobile is probably not in any hurry to do it

Will it work with the S3 watch and Android pay?

I looked over compatibility at Samsung.com, however i also know that the phones listed there are not all the phones able to connect to the watch. Anyone who has tried using it with a Gear S3?
And anyone who can confirm whether this phone will work with Android Pay as well?

Same issue with the S2. The Gear Apps just shows a blank screen. Tried deleting data, reinstalling, factory reset of watch etc with no luck. I am able to log in to my Samsung account and watch works fine otherwise.
This is frustrating as it's stopping me getting the S3. I am on latest EU rom.

I'm not rooted but get an error message about the handset not being secure - I get something similar with AmEx Pay (in the UK AmEx have created their own app rather than use Android Pay).
Any insight you can offer would be appreciated.

If you're rooted, you must have taken additional steps to make it work, regardless of the model of handset you're using - but doubly so with the Mi Mix, which is a handset with no official Google Services support and that throws up errors on un-rooted handsets.

I guess if you want to call it an extra step, I installed the EU rom version for Mi Mix from xiaomi.eu, TWRP rc2, dm-verify and SuperSu.
So, at last, the Mi Mix has a serious problem with the GEAR S3 and the last MIUI.EU.
The GEAR Manager does not open the App Store for downloading Watch Faces and other additional applications. Once you have done the Samsung Login when you enter in the Store appears a white Page.
Any idea to solve this annoying problem?
I'm having the same problem myself still.

Lineage 14. 1 or 15 for tab s2 t719 and t819, to donate somone to make...

Moderators, if this thread breaks some rules- delete it. I don't know...
We all see great development on t713 and t813, they have now Los 15 among first in samsung world.
But for lte versions, nothing.
This puts big shade on usability , for me, on great t719 device. I hope I am no alone...
So, is there anybody else here, with me, who agrees we to find one credible developer, buy him t719, and expect he to make Los 15 for t719, and maybe t819?
If someone esle with me, appear here. And then to see if there is good developer for us...
I hope some developers also to announce here he/they want to work on t719, t819

Phone works, audio of calls does not. Small difference because phone would mean that LTE data network does not work too and this is not the case. Well, in theory this is a tablet and not a phone, but I am quite shocked how many ppl seem to need a 10"/8" phone with them. Last word is not spoken out yet here, but no one has a clue why it does not work. The guy behind RIL says it's audio, the guy behind the device specific code says it's RIL. Yes, one of both is wrong a bit... ^^
I don't need a 10/8" Phone. My tablet is mounted in Car for Navigation and Music playing. For that it is connected via BT to car audio.
In Germany it is forbidden (for understandeable reasons) to hold Phones in hand during the ride. So then the Tablet should also be able to make calls over BT, what works properly on stock.
Additionally Google Assistant should be able to start these calls (voice recognition), what actually NOT works on stock. This last issue is the only reason why i'm searching for another ROM.
I simply dont want to press any button on the device during the ride.
By the qay on my Galaxy S7 google assistant works fine with same android Version.
Sorry for my bad English. I hope you understand me.

No not understood ....it is not about who "needs" and does not...to each his own device-we have the LTE version...some of us have it and want the OS for those versions--simple...end of dicussion of what is "right" and "wrong" and what is "needed" and not needed. Thank you.

"I am quite shocked how many ppl seem to need a 10"/8" phone with them."....
that is because they want one device and not carry multiple devices around...my guess
I've installed lineage 15 on my T719, as a lay person is there anything I can do to help get this working? Any logs to send or tests I can do?
This ROM is fast and clean, but I miss being able to make phone calls, so if there's anything I can do please let me know.
