[KERNEL] HTC First CM-based Kernel - HTC First

CM-based kernel for the HTC First
The JB Kernel source released by HTC is lacking, to say the least, for anything aosp or cm-based. This port of the CM-maintained MSM8960 kernel should future proof the HTC First for at least 1-2 more Android releases.
The kernel is used in my current CM11 port.

A prebuilt image will not be provided. Use of this kernel assumes knowledge of compilation of kernels. I recommend using gcc 4.7 toolchain to compile the kernel.
Misc notes:
- Holding power key will not reset phone anymore as this functionality isn't implemented in gpio_input and I have no intention of doing so. Instead, the phone can be hard reset by holding power+vol up+vol down simultaneously
Feel free to report any bugs in this thread.

I am so happy to see someone still working on our First !!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for doing this ^^

When do you think you can share your cm 11 for our HTC first ??? ^^ No push just asking. Take you time.

There is no ETA, and I will not make any promises. Currently, the mic does not work in calls, and I will not be releasing it until that is fixed. You may check github.com/CMyst for any bugfixes/updates and once the mic is fixed, an update will be available very soon. However, unlike a previous port of CM11 that another member posted, the graphics are fluid and Wi-fi/BT works. Unfortunately, the camera does not work (almost working) and NFC seems to be broken due to some missing firmware.

It must be a lot of work for you to do by your self. But BIG BIG thank you for doing this. I hope you can release it soooon ~. Thank you again

Any progress update ?? ^^;; I hope you still working on it..

Happy Thanks giving
Are you planing to upload cm this Thanks giving???

Numerous fixes have been added to the kernel. The resulting problems with camera (at least I think) and audio amp are userspace.

nova kernel isn't compatible with v20n, it will boot, but probably wifi, bluetooth, gps, .. won't work
It reported wifi death, others worked fine we'll see.. aprold and knzo are still working for bugs fixing and let's hope they will make this version

waiting for lg release the source code
They would definitely attract attention if decision is made to release the source code, not to mention the increased sales that will follow.
i actually think they might go the other way and NOT release the source code. locking down all the exploits was not a good sign in GB
Unfortunately you might be wright hope not though.
As that will be the last nail in the coffin.
Why the phuk would anyone buy smart phone and use it as a dumb phone.
As if you will buy support cart doing 300km/h and have it limited to 50km/h
Thanks for the answers. I will wait for Aprold to (maybe) release a v20n version.

Yesterday I sent request about V20 source code, and screenshot above replied from LGE. Just wait for a moment, and we'll have another cooking time for the kernel..

Hold your horses, guys. They are legally required to release the source...
ETA: Looks like they don't have to after all... It's not all under GPL. Sorry.
well they released o3d's gb sourcecode so you can expext black gb source code to be released as well...

Yes, and according to redy, they are working on it, it's just that I was under the impression that they have to release it. There goes the last bit keeping me on stock...

Jellybean port?

anyone on these particularly dead forums want to come close to as even try to port jellybean to the droid 4?
+1 on that. So what if we're not mainstream phone owners. We need some TLC too!
Sent from my DROID4 using Tapatalk 2
Just wait for the source to be released... then I'm sure hashcode will turn something out.
Hash will make a CM port, but CM10 won't be ready until the source drops.

hahahahahahaha reallly??
Hash has a lot on his plate right now. I'm sure he will cook something up when the time is right. We just got an ics leak working.

They have already begun merging JB code into CM10. I am sure that as soon as there is an even semi-stable JB codebase we'll get a port of it.
Do you think an ICS based kernel is going to have issues with JB?

Nope, it should not. 4.1 has mostly architecture level changes, and some drivers, but not significant kernel level changes AFAIK.
Booted into it this morning, and it's every kind of broken LOL

The standard stuff. Camera and data are broken, along with various glitches. It's very stable though--no crashes yet.

So that's still on the Gingerbread kernel? That's darned impressive if so! Camera and data work fine on the ICS kernel from the leaks, so it's likely that there won't be a problem then. I must admit, that's sooner than expected.

[DRIVERS]drivers for BCM 21553 is on TEST....

Drivers for setchip BCM21553 is created, now currently in test...
message from NICK L.:
Hi all,
First, _sorry_. I was travelling in Taiwan and then had a vacation and didn't leave someone with the keys to this vehicle to update whilst gone.
So, the update is:
* Broadcom has officially blessed the driver release for BCM2153 in binary form to start with
* We have prepared a package already for generic base bands and need to test it - will be pinging for testers in the mean time
* RasberryPI drivers came out! Hopefully an encouraging sign for you
On my side, I will pull a few others into a support forum as I will be disappearing again any day for a few weeks (my first child is quickly on its way).
Thanks again for your patience - a very busy time of year for Broadcom basebands.
Cheers,
Nick.....

Lineage 16.0 unofficial TESTING

This is an early build current bugs:
audio is not great
youtube does not play
fingerprint sensor is broken
encryption untested
avb disabled
selinux in permissive
eng build for ease of debugging and logging will cause slow downs and red boarders
etc
This is incompatible with the modem from Android Q it will break sensors and cause boot to fail. If coming from Q flash a different modem via fastboot
This is for testing and demonstration only
