S5 continuously rebooting after using TopNTP to write gps.conf - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

Hello all,
I hope someone can help me with my problem.
My G900A has been having many problems with the GPS signal and keeping locked the GPS (when it manage to do so).
After looking around the internet I found some tutorials that used the application TopNTP to customize the gps.conf file. I Installed the application and customized the file and after rebooting the phone, as soon as the AT&T logo goes away, messages like
"Unfortunately Google Play services has stopped"
"Google search engine has stopped"
...and the like.
After 10 or so seconds the phone reboots and the loop repeats over and over.
I have tried a factory reset but it solved nothing.
Does anyone know any way to solve for this problem?
Thank you very much.

GT-i9000 Suddenly slow, apps force close, contacts etc lost. Help please.

G'day everyone.
The phone is an Optus (Australia) Galaxy S which is running 2.2.1 Froyo XXJPY Kernal Version 2.6.32.9
It has suddenly gone really slow and all widgets, games and apps will not work and when trying to run any of them, the phone vibrates and shows a message saying it has stopped unexpectedly and to close it.
When using the phone, it sometimes gets the following message...
The application AdService (proces.com.sec.android.appsecad) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. With a FORCE CLOSE button.
Which is the same format as the other error messages she mentioned.
The phone restarted yesterday to find that it has wiped out all contacts and saved stuff in the Memo program and all favourite apps were gone from the home screen.
I've been asked to help with this, but I'm finding the solution very confusing.
Edit - She is happy for me to update it to a newer, stable version, but I'm unsure about doing that from the current version as I am not tech savy.
Advice on upgrading from 2.2.1 would be much appreciated.
Thanks everyone!

this is normal for Froyo. when i was on 2.2.1 had similar problems ( had to restart every 2,3 days and there's was another problem, system wouldn't pass s logo and i couldnt save programs etc. , then my csc was unknown.) every 2,3 weeks it needed hard reset etc.
try using different firmware.

[Q] Q: ThetheringManager error after upgrading to official GB from At&T

Ever since I've updated to Gingerbread I get this error when I start up my phone or turn wifi on.
Sorry! The application TetheringManager (process com.tecace.tetheringmanager) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
This happens on my wife's phone also since the update to Gingerbread. Any ideas how to prevent this? The phone seems to function fine after force closing, but it's just annoying. Sorry if this issue is addressed somewhere else, I tried searching, but didn't find anything specific to this problem.
are you rooted? if so just freeze it with it with tibu pro..or with a root file explorer go to /system/app and add a .bak extension at the end of the apk name then reboot.
I just upgraded to stock GB yesterday. Got the TM error. Had read elsewhere that a Factory Data Reset does the trick.
It does.
Just do a Factory Data Reset and you'll be fine.

[Q] i9000 major issues

Right... so my phone, for some reason most of the apps on my phone decided to start crashing. Usually on startup I have to hit force close on about 15 apps. I had never until this point flashed my ROM, rooted my phone or anything.
I started of by trying factory reset but it didnt reset anything. I had to run the setup wizard (all the time the apps were all crashing) but when it finished I was still seeing all my apps. So i thought it might be a good idea to uninstall all the downloaded apps but when I do so they just come back when I reboot.
I have since tried flashing the firmware and rooting the device as per the instructions on android soul to flash to 2.3.5
However I am still facing the same problem. Right now I can't get past the setup wizard crashing in a loop.
Any idea's or advice?

[Q] Constant Errors

Hi, I came here to XDA hoping to find an answer to my problem since I cant fix it by myself.
I keep getting errors like "process android.process.media has stopped" , "Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped" and "Unfortunately, the process android.process.core has stopped" with an 'OK' to dismiss it.
They appear when I'm using applications mostly applications that require internet connection like Browser, Playstore, Talk, Contacts, Google Search, Messaging, Gmail sometimes the settings. After the error appears the app will force close.
Sometimes the error appears even if i'm not doing anything like every time i wake my phone up the errors are there.
I'm Currently Running on:
4.0.4 ICS
DarkROM_v11.0_Black_Edition
I kinda know how the problem started, those errors appeared after I rebooted my phone, but before that I installed a Data Fix to fix my Low memory issue via Recovery, when I rebooted my phone everything worked fine after I installed it. then when i rebooted it again to change my battery that's when the errors appeared. I tried some solutions like clearing the data on those apps like contacts storage etc.. I also tried deleting my Google accounts and adding them back again still doesn't work.
It's really annoying and I can't really do much since they constantly Pop-up every few seconds.
Any kind of help is appreciated. :good:
Oh and by the way Factory Reset or anything that deletes all of my Data, is my LAST RESORT.
I'm hoping to find a solution without doing that. because i have a ton of game data stored on my phone. and it will be a pain to back them up. but if I don't have any choice i'll have to live with it.
SGS-I9000 :fingers-crossed:
what you could try is in CWM onl doe the wipes for cache and devlink. And additional fix permissions.
If this does not help, reflash the rom.zip just on top. Only also with wipe cache and devlink.
If this does not help, then you can try to flash just the gapps ontop. But be sure that you download the zip. for your rom and or for your ICS....
I am not sure which one is correct, but perhaps you can find in darkroms thread a link? You can find all of the gapps versions here: http://goo.im/gapps/
I think this one will work anyways, but its not the lateset: http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
This one should be the neweset for ICS: http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20111230-signed.zip
If all this doesn't help, i am afraid there is nothing else then you do a new, clean installation on your phone....

[Q] 4.3 Open Lock and "Custom" on boot up

OK, I have searched for this, but have not found it in this context. I did a flawless OTA and install of 4.3 on my S4 Active. After install I had an image of an open padlock and the word "custom" show up on a boot screen, Used to get this in the early root days, but not for several month after following some tips elsewhere in these forums.
I also had trouble connecting WiFi unless I rebooted. Whether I needed or not, I did a complete factory restore, which seems to have cleaned up the WiFI thus far, but not the lock/custom situation.
Any ideas or suggestions?
