These are formatted with MP4's to be compatible with the stock Moto Rom
If you want one compatible with png/jpg type bootanimations go HERE

This might be the most original boot animation I've ever seen. Very cool!

Neither of the zip files showed up when I booted. I changed the names and placed them where they should be.

Sounds like you copied it to the wrong folder. Did you overwrite the original boot animation?

Can you post a screenshot of your
root /system/media/
folder?

I had to click on "show hidden" in my file manager to make it show up. Then I had to toggle the properties or something, and made them match the original zip.

Damn original. Thanks for this. Like it a lot.

Epic way better than stock thank you!

haha this is awesome, love it

Awesome, worked perfectly for me.

Looks great.
Can it be somehow put in Moto E 2014 too. I am using CM12.1 official ROM.

Don't know if CM supports the boot animation that this phone uses (we don't have CM yet)
try it and see, if it doesn't work, just put back the original boot animation zip that you have,
and search the xda website for the other versions of Motorola April Fools Boot Animation.
Many of the other posts use the standard bootanimation type used by CM.
This one if formatted to use the mp4 bootanimation type for the moto X Pure
If it works, Let us know

Motorola's April 1st formatted with png's
So, here are 2 sizes of the Motorola's April 1st Boot Animation
formatted for a couple screen sizes,
these use png's instead of mp4's as in the first post.
These should work on roms like Cyanogenmod.
The original one in the 1st post is formatted to work with the stock rom.
These will not expand correctly with the stock moto rom, use the first post for stock.
These should work on all the old style bootanimation Roms

that has access to root on your phone,
then you just do what it says in post 1,
If you have a Pure,
If you need more help Private message me.

@JohnMcW Probably be a good idea to add in the OP for users to fix the permissions on the zip after they copy it to 0644 (rw-r-r-)...newbies will likely not know this. Worked great, thank you for this. Along with the dark fixed bootsplash I'm "styling"....Ha, had to do it!

Mad thanks to my man Illinois08 for helping me with sound on the project!
I would like to give a huge shoutout to KiloJKilo! Your donation means so much and shows our work is appreciated! Thank you again!
And before anyone says anything, Yes somebody has made one like this before but I have made my own edition from scratch and the other one I have seen was elongated instead of portrait, which mine is. I also added a sound version. So this is not stealing from original creator because I made my own.
Now, I have 2 versions. One with Sound and one without.
Download your choice from below.
Place on SD.
Reboot to recovery.
Install zip.
Reboot and enjoy!

I used the QR code to download it. I've tried other ways as well. So it would seem that there could be an issue with the ec/dk. That would imply that dk28 handles the bootanimation.zip differently? I compared the desc.txt file to one that works on my phone and could not really find any difference. But I have an untrained eye. Has anyone else with a DK28 rom had any success with this? I copied the bootanimation from the zip over directly and fiddled with the resolution and frame rates to no avail. If I put the FPS to 30, I get a black screen instead of the stock android.
Guess what? I just got it to work. I extracted the bootanimation.zip out of your original file and copied it to system/media, rebooted. Win.

The desc is going to be for the most part similar across all android devices except for screen size and frame rate. If you edit my desc from the boot zip you will get a black screen. You would have to extract everything and edit and rezip.
As long as bootanimation.zip is going to system/media... there shouldn't be an issue.
If you get a black screen there is something wrong with the bootanimation.zip and if you get android logo something went wrong with flash or your system pushing to system/media.

I had some trouble using this. When I installed through CWM it only applied the sound and not the boot animation. The sound also cutoff halfway through and was all static after that.
Had to use a file manager to wipe it out since installing a boot animation over this one wouldnt work.

You might try extracting the bootanimation.zip and copying it to system/media. Cwm3 did not work for me either as you see above. If the sound continues to give you trouvke, I'd just manually apply it as well.

Repacks/Themes TWRP3

Themes for 3.1.0-0. and 3.1.1-0. I've replaced the swipe action with a button so now it's all touch. The lock screen itself is also now one big button, you can touch anywhere to unlock it.
Batman
Forest
Skeleton
Storm
Hulk
You can install these manually or in recovery:
Manual:
go to your TWRP folder and create a new folder
name this new folder "theme"
after downloading the theme you want place it in this folder
rename the theme to "ui"
reboot into recovery and enjoy!
This is case sensitive be sure to use lower case and without the quotes.
Recovery:
As of 3.0.1-0 you can install these as if your where flashing something.
Keep in mind that this does overwrite the ui.zip in your TWRP theme folder so if you have a theme already your might want to rename it first!
Thanks to @z31s1g
The use of his themes and studying the xmls has been a great help.

True but there isn't a need to flash anything. It's a matter of adding a folder, renaming a file and that's it. It worked for me

Wow! I'm on the latest Twrp(3.0.1).I'm pretty sure i had to flash mine. I tried just renaming, rebooting recovery and that didn't work. I'm going to change it (put a different one in) and see if it changes.

Okay..switched to skeleton.. It changed no flashing. I believe the first one I created I used capital letters.. That may have been the problem. Thanks everyone for clearing that up For me

Both the theme folder and the renaming are case sensitive make sure it's all lower case. Also make sure that when remaining you don't add an extra .zip. It should look like:
ui.zip
not
ui.zip.zip
I looked at the xmls for 3.0.1.0 and I do need to update these to that but that's not the issue. I'm running it now with my Batman theme with no issues. Tested all three of them. Hopefully I'll have time to update them when I get home.
Downloads are failing.

[RELEASE] "New" Android N bootanimation

Hi!
Can someone create or explain how to make a bootanimation based of the new update images?
See the following link:. www.androidpolice.com/2016/05/20/an...oper-preview-3-except-its-not-quite-ready-yet
Succeeded in creating one! Based on the animation during the Dev Preview 3 update.
Just a sloppy release, I cba to make a fade in/out. If you got spare time for that, feel free to edit.

I've meddled a little with that before but not enough to tell you exactly how to do it.

Inside any bootanimation.zip, you'll find desc.txt. The first two numbers are your screen resolution and the third is the rate that it plays(I believe).

Samsung has it's own boot animation format. The files are .qmg format, rather than the regular bootanimation.zip that other devices use.

HII... @bogarty I love your bootanimation.
May I ask you a question?
Can I extract the bootanimation file into image file so I can make it for other devices?

I have all the images ready to go for other devices. I just need to make sure they play at the proper speed. It should be about the same as the gif. If you want me to make one for you to test, then just let me know which resolution you have and I'll send you a link.
Same goes for you @ahmed.ismael .

For resolution I just meant the resolution size of your display. Like 1080x1920, 1440x2560, etc.

Just this one!

Might be awhile too. I worked pretty hard at making files on this one for all the different resolutions for both Samsung and regular devices and they've been downloaded almost 300 times, but I only received 3 Thanks. I don't do it for the Thanks necessarily, but at that rate, I guess I'm not really even sure if people are enjoying it. Plus, after how hard I worked for weeks on the one I linked above, I may just take a break.
Thanks for downloading my animation guys! By the way, if any of you still have your old stock boot animation sound playing in the background while this animation is playing, and you want to get rid of it easily, then I made a flashable file for that today. Here is the link to the thread.

Hey there nandakis4 I'm not sure what maybe issue on your device. Cause I have tested my zip before publishing here and it seemed to be working perfectly fine over here and a few other P2 users on telegram confirms the same.
I would suggest you to re-download the Android o boot animation zip and again flash it.
I would like to hear if it's still not working.
Send me screenshot of /system/media. I would like to see if there is bootanimation.zip or not.

Hi, i dont why the bootanimation.zip file inside got curropted during my previous download..
i checked everything, re downloded.. extracted and replaced my original bootanimation.zip and tested.. and the result was positive..
now i removed that bootanimation.zip (oreo) and made my original ba.zip as primary.. and flashed your ZIP again..
this time.. i saw Oreo bootanimation working fine
