Google Inbox - Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone had any luck getting Inbox to work? I have Google Apps working generally, but Inbox force closes right after it loads up my emails.

Yeah, it crashes for me too. It shows my emails for a second, then right to the launcher again.

Thanks! I just tried it again and it is indeed working now. The weird thing is I don't believe an Inbox update has come out since my last try, but apparently something has changed. I recommend anyone else in this thread that had my same issue just give it another try.
Edit: Never mind. Though it no longer crashes when displaying the message list, it still crashes when loading an email up.

the Amazon default "Email" app opens my gmail
if that's all you want is to open your email use the Amazon one

Gmail also works just fine. But I prefer Inbox.

Same thing here. I even tried the flashed gapps instead of the sideloaded version. Inbox app runs, but crashes before you can use it.

tried it today and Inbox doesn't work. crashes right after opening.
The following apps work fine:
1. Gmail
2. Google Play Store
3. Sheets
4. Doc
5. Slides
6. Chrome
8. Snapspeed
9. YouTube
10. Drive

At first, I had the same crashes, but after reinstalling it for the second time, Inbox been working correctly for me for the past few days (rooted 5.1.1 with sideloaded Google play). Perhaps Google fixed something?

Root or install a custom rom. Play Services is a crap shoot on unrooted devices which is likely contributing/causing Inbox crashes.

I am rooted, but as far as I know there are no custom ROMs for the 8" 5th gen.
One strange thing I noticed it that when I had WiFi disabled, it worked perfectly. I wrote an email, hit send, turned on WiFi and it crashed instantly. (though the email DID send). Could this be of help in troubleshooting?

Inbox worked for me, but I had to install the .apk manually because google play said it wasn't supported. I didn't like the first impression so I uninstalled without much testing. I have 5.1.2 bootloader with the last build of cyanogenmod. I guess I can reinstall and test it out for a few days if anybody wants me to.

How can I do it on kindle fire in 2018

Google Maps 3.3.0 On the market

Welp I just installed 3.3.0 on my G1 and now I'm getting Force Closures.
Compass arrow
Scale bar
Terrain Layer
More…
When I opened up the new Google Maps for the first time it asked “What’s new in Maps?” and it answered:
Report a problem with the map or a business listing
See businesses at an address or near a point on the map
Try out experimental features with labs
Uninstalled and reinstalled and it works fine.
Thanks for the uninstall/reinstall tip. that solved my problem. running CM-4.2.7.1
No force closes here...
The new features are cool, but nothing nearly as awesome an addition as Navigation was. Either way though, love to see that they're improving it all the time. Android's Google Maps is WAYY better than iPhone's if you ask me.
I like the fact that you can report problems right from the phone too.
I am personally getting a "package not signed" error on Enmther's TheOfficial. I uninstalled it but I still cant get it to install/
love it!! no force close after reinstall

Yeah it still has street view. You just long press anywhere on the screen and it brings up the next menu. As long as street view is in your area you will get the use of it. Like my area shown up above in the screen shots I do not have street view in my area so I can't really use it much.
can any one upload an apk of the new google maps, having a hard time installing it via market.

Running Cyanogen 4.2.5 and had the hacked version of 3.2.1 Maps (via XDA, before it was available on the market). Upgraded to 3.3 via market and it works fine, no FCs.

getting the same. running cyanogen 4.2.7.1 installed 3.2.1 from market fine last time. no option to uninstall from manage apps - how are you guys uninstalling?

a full uninstall (e.g. i did it with Super User File Management System (SUFMS) and then reinstall via market fixes the Maps 3.30 force close issue
Having the same problem here with the unsigned package error message - tried uninstalling, manually deleting the Maps.apk file but no luck...
Does anyone have a working APK that we can just push to our app folder and get it over with?
I'm running a modified CM 4.2.7.1 (on which people are complaining about he same issue). I don't get Google with their crap they have to do to block certain features and render the whole thing useless for all users with custom roms until someone has to spend the time and figure it all out for the rest of us...

When you are on the market there should be an option to upgrade. I simply upgraded and then when I had an error I went back to the market and searched for "Google Maps" and when it came up I used the uninstall button, followed up with searching and installing.

I just tried to download it again. Its there you just have to wait for their annoying time out thing. I'd host it on my site, but honestly I'd rather not hammer the piss out of it when megaupload works just fine.
Anybody that wants to use it just rename it to Maps.apk
Its renamed funky because of an app I have installed that renames files when I tell it to back up.
Signing issues here is another thread that addresses it.

the link is working now
I updated my site with version 3.3.0 if anyone wants the apk...

Google Services Framework has stopped

I keep getting a popup saying Google Services Framework has stopped. Everything still seems to work but it is getting annoying. There were errors with goggle-pictures syncing so I cleared the cache for gallery and stopped sync for that particular item but I still get the popup. Does anyone know how I can pin point the source of the error, or how to stop it?
Doesn't look like any one cares but I removed account and sync settings apk And reinstalled it. It cleared up the problem.
Thanks! This also worked for me, having a similar problem

Could you point me to the account and sync settings apk you use? I have installed the framework, account manager, play, and gmail, but I'm getting this same error and I can't login to gmail.
Thank you.
Same Problem
I am having this same issue also. I have the kindle confirmed rooted with "My Root Checker", and have side-loaded,
- Google Services Framework 4.0.4-338691.apk
- Google Play services_3.2.25 (761454-36).apk
- Google Account Manager_4.0.3-239410.apk
- Gmail_4.6 (836823).apk
It throws up errors "Google Services Framework has stopped" and "process com.google process com.gapps has stopped working". These errors are intermittent and it seems that all apps function properly but the errors themselves are of some inconvenience.
I will post back if I am able to find any solution.

[Q] Google Apps

Okay, so I got my KFHD 7" rooted finally, now I'm having some issues.
I got google play installed along with gmail and a few other google apps. After doing all of that, facebook no longer works ("Facebook has stopped.") and gmail didn't work from the get-go ("Gmail has stopped.").
I'm getting this error with Google Play - "Error retrieving information from server. [DF-DFERH-01]"
Edit: Okay, looks like I was able to get the market working by using Market Enabler.
Edit 2: I got gmail working by uninstalling the version I had installed and installing it from Google Play.
I followed this tutorial to get google play installed and I followed this tutorial to get everything else installed.
Can anyone offer any advice? Thank you in advance.
Looks like I'm answering a lot of my own questions but i'm going to leave this here in case someone else has the same issue(s).
Thanks!
Had the same problem here with the "Facebook has stopped" error.
Uninstalled and re-installed from google play, no problems now

[Q] Installing Gmail Problems

So, recently I rooted my phone following this page
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783157
and got the safestrap to work as well
but then I rooted my phone from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2709701
so, I noticed my gmail disappeared. So, I went ahead and tried to install it from the Play Store. But, it's not installing or not installed properly.
The GMail app does show up on the Menu. And I would have to go through the play store to open the app. Even after opening the app, the loading bar in the gmail app would keep going and going and nothing would show up.
Note: My default email works though.

[Q] Unable to Attach Google Photos in Google Messenger

VZW Nexus 6, unlocked, unencrypted, stock rooted 5.1.1 with Wugfresh's NRT. Access point is LTE - Verizon Internet VZWINTERNET. I have AdAway installed, but have had it disabled in order to troubleshoot. I don't use the MOAB host but I whitelisted mms.vtext.com just to be safe. Also tried a couple of different access points to no avail.
While in Messenger if I tap the paperclip to add an attachment, all options except Google Photos work. When I try to attach a photo from Google Photos, the displayed thumbnail is blank and the spinning search indicator goes on indefinitely. If instead I open Google Photos, select a photo to share via Messenger, it works fine.
One other piece of info. After I get tired of watching Messenger endlessly search for a Google photo, I back out, clear recents and go into Google Photos to send that way, but my attempt to attach from Messenger corrupts something in Google Photos, so I have to force stop it to get it to function normally.
I've force stopped, cleared cache and data for both Messenger and Google Photos multiple times, but nothing seems to work.
The only thing that does work is reverting to the factory install of Messenger. If I do that, everything works as it should.
Anybody have this problem?
Thanks.
Try a file explorer (ES is my choice) and click the share button. There should be an option to share it via Google Messenger. That should insert it into the convo. Also make sure your SMS/MMS settings are correct along with the APN. If none of this works, try uninstalling/reinstalling Messenger, and then clearing the cache/dalvik, and try again. Hope this helps.

As stated, all of the options (to include my file explorer--root explorer), recents, dropbox, etc. do work. It's Google Photos that's not working properly. Also keep in mind, that the option to use Google Photos allows me to attach photos from the cloud, which is what I'm unable to do...so a file explorer is not optimal in this case.
SMS/MMS settings have been checked, and as I also stated, I'm using Verizon's preferred APN, but I have also tried others without success.
Although I didn't mention above, is that I have uninstalled and reinstalled both Google Photos and Messenger without success. The only thing that did work was reverting to the factory install of Messenger, but that's not optimal.
Clearing cache and Dalvik is useful so I'll give that a try, but I'm not hopeful.
Are you, or anyone else able to duplicate this problem without reverting to the factory install of Messenger? Thanks.
I had that problem. I never ran completely stock & rooted from the box. But I had similar problems with the stock sms/mms app using custom roms. I finally installed Textra on the advice of others & since then have never experienced a problem, so I never looked back. But others told me it was the stock app which is at fault. Why it works for most & not for some - I got no idea. I also consider Textra to be a step up in many areas vs stock. I use Titanium Backup & freeze the stock app also.

Anyone ever get this resolved? I'm experiencing the same. Running Nexus 5 stock, unrooted.
Still not working for me even after updating the factory image to account for Stagefright. During the update I took the opportunity while unrooted to try again (this was after a factory reset)....didn't work. Then rerooted and tried again...still a nogo. Same symptoms as my OP. Here are a couple of shots:

AT&T. Everything seemed to work up until a few days ago. Maybe the stagefright update was the cause.

One more point. I just watched a Galaxy S6 exhibit the same problem. Something must be up on Google's end.
