I use ClockWorkRec5830i.zip from section dev and it does not install in boot ... it's temporary install that will vanish after reboot ... I install that rom that way :
1. Flash stock rom xxl1 with odin 1.84
2. Go to stock recovery (e3) and chose from sd card clockworkrec5830i.zip to install
3. You will be right now in cwm
4. Now you make wipe cache, dalvik and wipe reset
5. Remember to mount system and data partition
6. Flash v.2.1 simplicity rom
7. Reboot
After that i go once again to recovery and use cwm to install those 3 patches from thread (one of them is for google contacts synchronize )
After that reboot and working
I try to flash that rom half a day and my mistake was not mounting partitions ... always i was have brick
Sorry for my bad english

What about your CWM version? The latest is 6.0.3.1. Incorrect version results in disasters

@tomkasz forgot to say i do a complete data wipe before flashing! Didn't clear my dalvik before (thanks for pointing that out mate!) @hernest my current version is 6.0.2.8, so im guessing i need to update my recovery? If so can i just use the clockworkMod app from google play and do it that way?
Am i right in thinking that because im on v20a at the moment that i need to flash a JB ROM? Or can i flash an ICS without having to downgrade via KDZ first?
Thanks for your help guys!

In order to flash ICS you have to use LG Flash Tool. There is a thread on xda showing how to do it step by step.

Your Recovery version is the culprit, then. Just install ROM Manager via Play Store and update your recovery to the latest version. Your life will be much easier in terms of flashing ROM.
To roll back to stock ICS from JB is quite a task and can't be done by simply flashing ICS based ROM. There's a thread on general section dedicated to this topic, you might want to do some research before doing so. Like the previous post said, there are no fully compatible ICS based custom ROM. Anyway, I think this device is much better in JB. Why would you revert back?

Tell us something more, what error you get...
Do you have one of latest CWM (like version 6.0.4.5)? (What ROM are you using now?) If not, try installing CM 10.2 first and then 4.4 ROM.
PS. If you have Android =< 4.2 you will get status 7 error on first try when installing Android 4.3+. So after error you have to 'reboot to recovery' and install the ROM again.
Follow this:
Reboot into Recovery
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Advanced > Wipe dalvik cache
Main menu
Install zip from sdcard
Choose zip from sdcard(internal)
Select your rom zip and confirm
Your phone at this moment may reboot automatically and come into a bootloop or show status 7 error or set_metadata_error so you need to flash the rom again.
Remove battery and reboot into new recovery and then flash the zip.file after that again reboot into recovery wipe everthing and flsah your rom and reboot

BusyBox is required by some apps not all. If some root apps malfunction then you may install it n retry those apps.

May I ask what you used to Deodex? I have also Deodexed my device, but had to brutally debloat it. Settings.apk didn't function correctly, syscope, smartcardmanager and a couple of others forced closed repeatedly.. I'll take a look at this, but wondering what you used to Deodex this..

Yes, I used this tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/tool-deodex-tool-android-l-t2972025
I tried SuperR's Kitchen with no luck. Surprisingly, SVADEV's tool seemed to handle the job in a smarter way at least for this build.

Super R was the first thing I tried.. In the Tools folder he has old and new oatdex files.. I tried both with little success.. I had to brutally debloat and lost my finger print scanner.. Setting.apk would force close on security settings..
Thanks for the link.. I'll take a look at it..
I don't have the time to flash the ROM, but I'll install it later on tonite..
Edit: you could copy the oat2dex file from that Deodexer script to Super R, in the Tool/Smali directory.. that should allow proper deodexing in Super R..

Does this ROM break encryption? Thanks!

My guess is that it will break encryption since the zip wipes data (data partition is encrypted)...but if it doesn't, who knows if the phone will boot. You will need a usb-otg to flash from since twrp wont be able to read the SD card partition.
I do know that I could not encrypt my phone with the patched kernel, I had to use the stock kernel. Once encrypted, I was able to flash super su to root the phone, but twrp was all kinds of red because it could not mount the data partition. Since it won't mount, you don't have a way to "nandroid backup" your phone.
Flashfire might be the solution for backing up encrypted phones, I made 2 backups with flashfire, though I haven't tried to restore. I think flashfire works with the encryption because it does not reboot until after its done, and it seems the phone is decrypted when it runs.

The instructions tell you to use and links to a specific version of TWRP, yet you somehow missed that.
You stated in this post that you used Twrp 3.0 and only used the Twrp version linked in the instructions after you bootlooped, smh: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...stuck-loop-t3360447/post66404317#post66404317
