What USB-C <-> USB-A cable are you getting? - Nexus 5X Accessories

Since we won't be getting it in the box, and I don't have a USB-C port on my laptop, I'll def. need to get one.
I thought of just getting the Google Store one, but $13.00 seemed a bit high
Then I thought of getting the OnePlus Cable one since it's cheaper, has some nice design features (flat, cable organizer, etc.), but then I realized it's only USB 2.0 spec and I kinda want to future proof the cable.
I figured the Spigen Cable would be a safe bet since it's a known brand, 3.0 spec, and discounted on their eBay store, but it's backordered til end of November!
Finally, I found this "generic" one on Amazon which I think I'll get since it has a bunch of reviews and is in stock before the N5X comes in.
Has anyone else started shopping for their USB-C <-> USB-A cable? Any other suggestions to consider?

I just got the one off of google

Got these cause they were a decently priced multipack.

There is a cable in the box but it's type C to type C only. It's been confirmed and on the "What's in the box" part of the Nexus 5X specs page.

4 pack http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013RMG5WY?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

Just got the cable from Google seems to be a very well made

iOrange braided 6 foot cable
$10 and has a 12 month warranty

I got a couple of the OnePlus cables, from the reviews I've read they are some of the best A to C cables available so far, and pretty cheap to boot.

I ordered a few of the Spigen cables on Amazon last week and already have them in hand. I have two of the C-A and one C-C.

I ordered the oneplus cable, it's on its way. Reversible insertion on both ends sounds good. Hopefully it's as good as monoprice premium cables. Bought the 5 feet version. Playstore only has a 3 feet version.

When is your estimated delivery date? Mine is end of the month early November. Just in time for the phone.
Sent from my Sprint Galaxy S5.

I ordered some 2.0 cables from Aliexpress for <$2 each. since I won't have a phone that supports 3.0 until at least next year I didn't feel the need to future proof as the cables should come down considerably in price over the next year as more devices move to c. also, by the time I get a 3.0 phone I may not have a computer with an a port anyway

Got some Cable Matters USB 2.0 cables from Amazon because they are good quality cables and support "USB Fast Charging @ 5V 3A". Both 3.3 feet and 6.6 feet cables available.

I did not know that. Dang it. I saw one review that said it charges at 800mAh. I ordered through Amazon Prime, so I will use the return policy if it turns out to charge slower. I will state something like the company was not clear about charging at slower speeds and demand a refund. Unacceptable to me
Edit: some users say it charges just as fast as the OP2's OEM cable. Either it's a fake review or the other users that complained received duds

It could possibly do OP2 charging speeds but the OP2 doesn't have fast charging anyway.

OP2 was the only device that used type c at the time which makes it difficult to have a better judgment with those cables. OP2 did compromise stuff so idk what else they did. I am hoping the people who said the cables were not charging that quickly had duds
I will test when I get my phone and the cables

These cables are either junk or totally overpriced. The selection right now is awful

"KiDiGi" charging crade - Anyone tried this?

I've been waiting for the generic market to start making some charging docks for the Vivid. I just came across this on eBay. Has anyone tried one of these yet?
It's not a bad price at $30, but at only $10 or so cheaper than the HTC version I'm not sure I'm ready to bite.
Thanks,
-Brett.
looks pretty appealing for the price... give us some feedback if you get it!

I had a KiDiGi dock for my Atrix that had an extra battery slot and HDMI out. It worked perfectly and the extra battery slot was a great feature. I think I'll be getting this for my Vivid.
*Warning - Potential n00b content*
OP, that charger looks an awful lot like the RND power solutions dock (would post a link, but I'm a n00b, and cannot)
I took the plunge on the RND about a month ago for my office, versus the more expensive HTC one. It hasn't given me any issues, except that the LED's on the front appear to have no purpose (they are always on, phone on dock or not.) However, this is of little consequence to me, and I'm sure a more electronically inclined individual armed with a soldering iron and a little time could easily rectify this problem if they felt so inclined.
Just my .02
Just received this KiDIGi cradle along with this 2 battery deal and it cost me only 27 bucks.
The dock is nice and is exactly what I was looking for. 2nd battery charger was my main point.
I'm still testing the batteries but at 2 for $8 Im not expecting much, though they are 1800mAh.
The dock came from CA very fast and the batteries came from NY, also very fast. ~5 days each on free shipping.
I will report back on the batteries.
The Rnd cradle, which looks exactly like the Kidigi, can be found on Amazon for $18.99 and is listed as Prime.

FOLLOW-UP:
After using these 2 batteries for the past few weeks I feel confident recommending them to others. They perform equal or better than the OEM battery and they're 2 for $8 with free shipping (At least they were when I found them). No longer do I carry my charger every where, instead I bring these two and I can safely go 3 three days with heavy usage. And the KiDiGi cradle has also performed as expected. Charging both the extra battery, phone, and providing a data connection is all normal.
If you can get this battery deal from the source I previously posted on eBay, from Brooklyn NY, you should jump on it.
EDIT:
Looks like they upped the price of the batteries to $22, still woth it IMO since a single OEM battery is about the same price.

Thanks for that. I'm getting it now.
I don't have it but there is already a vid about this online. youtube.com/watch?v=4jwz6IK2gaY
No USB to HDMI adapter on it, which would of been nice.
I bought this one:
KiDiGi HDMI Output USB Desktop Charging Cradle for HTC ViVid Velocity (LCM-HTVV)
for my HTC Raider from 4ujulian on ebay, and it's great, however it doesn't charge the battery as quickly as a stand-alone charger. The HDMI function requires power from the usb cable that you plug into the wall outlet, which I suspect is the reason why the charge is so slow. But having HDMI out is cool and works simply - as soon as you put the phone in the cradle, it mirrors the phones display to the TV.
Here is a link to one of these units from the same seller:

Agreed.... I too have the Anker Astro3 10000 and it works great.
Solidly built and has three separate charging points AND a switch to change one of the charging points to either 9v or 12v. This makes this charger also suitable for anyone with a ASUS Transformer TF101/201/300/700.
I use it to charge all my phones and tablets.

I have received a Cager B030 from Dealextreme to charge my Nexus 7. However, the Nexus 7 does not charge on neither ports of the device (1 A , 2.1 A)
I can charge all other devices (S3, Note, Asus Transformer) but not Nexus 7.
What does Nexus 7 look for when charging ? isn't 2.1A enough ?

ok; I found the solution here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1823377
I have:
The Gum Max : which at 10400mAh and 2.1A output charges the nexus nicely, a couple of times
and
Promini 4000 which is only 4000mAh and only puts out 1A but charges my N7 perfectly albeit only about a 70% charge. It's a really nice portable solution if you just need a little bit of extra time
http://amzn.com/B003ZBZ64Q
Been using that for a few months. Plan on using it on flight to Australia in a couple weeks. Should be good for 2+ charges. I got that one during a promotion that included a free 5000 mah. Should be enough to charge my nexus once, vita and 3ds both a couple times. Plenty of entertainment for 20 hours in the air.

Note 2 charging cable replacement

Hi all.
My original samsung charging cable has given up.
In fact it might have been a dud to start with as my phone took 6 hours ish to charge on a good day.
I am looking for a replacement but I understand that the note 2 uses a special cable and I can't buy a normal data cable.
Please could you recommend a good one that I could buy from the UK? Preferably from Amazon.
Thanks all.
You have a android phone not a crapple
You just need a micro usb cable
Should cost you around $1 on ebay
If you need the charger as well you want one with 2amps of output also very cheap on ebay

I posted this on another thread the other day. Another member had the same question.
I can recommend a couple of good options:
1. If you definitely prefer OEM, you can get one here, BUT, be sure to order specifically from the seller called AmazingSteals. Alot of other sellers are selling knockoffs. After reading a bunch of reviews on Amazon, I decided to order from AmazingSteals, and got a genuine OEM charger and cable. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009YDFX7Y/ref=cm_sw_r_an_am_ap_am_us?ie=UTF8
2. If you don't need OEM, check out this Anker. It's awesome. It has 2.0a and a 1.5a ports for simultaneous charging. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B8L36A6/ref=cm_sw_r_an_am_ap_am_us?ie=UTF8
I have both. Either will work great.

So the cable doesn't need to be a special 2 amp cable?
The charge itself is 2 amp and isn't faulty so doesn't need replacing.

Samsung cable charged 17% per hour and the blackberry cable does closer to 40% per hour.

I prefer amazon since I'm on prime and I get a lot of gift cards from my cc company.
I got tripp-lite cables which wouldn't charge more than .4... I got 6 cables so it's not just one or two defective ones.
On amazon I don't see a cable with clean reviews.
In fact most cables and chargers that say samsung oem have reviews saying they are counterfeit. One would think amazon.com would guard against that.

Well, Amazon opened a door to any "merchant" so you can list anything you want under existing legitimate product
For cables, use only Monoprice stuff - http://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-Plated-24AWG-micro-B-Ferrite/dp/B003L18S0E/ - this cable has 24AWG rated wires which handle up to 3A of current and will charge Note 2 at full 2A speed. Plus, they have gold plated connector and ferrite filter bead. 6ft cable for $3.28 shipped - YOU CAN NOT BEAT THAT!!! That what I use at home and in the car for years now.
I also noticed there are some Monoprice with 28AWG only, those can handle max 1.4A so more appropriate for 1A charging. Also, be careful the seller is actually Monoprice because I noticed a bunch of shady vendors listed under that Monoprice cable listing.

Not from US Amazon, you probably need to go to their www.monoprice.com website or see if Amazon in your country has Monoprice guys listed.
I would recommend the monoprice ferrite micro usb cables too. I bought 3 (6ft cables) and it charges all the gadgets at full speed (note 2, S3, tablets). It works so good people keep on taking mine. I had to buy 6 more. Also if you order from Monoprice directly it comes out to less than $8 for 3 6ft cables.

I've had very poor luck with these Monoprice cables ordered directly from them. They work great, for a short time. I ordered a dozen in both 6 foot and 10 foot length this summer. Since then, every single one has crapped out. They develop shorts or the connectors become weak and won't stay in the phone. It's a real disappointment as they work great initially and are a great price. My OEM cables are still going strong and get the majority of use. The monoprice cables lasted anywhere from 1 to 5 months. None longer. If it had just been one cable, I'd chalk it up to bad luck. But 12 cables is too many.
Note 2 cable repair
Samsung Note 2 charger is of 5 Volt 2 Amp and the data + charging cable is shielded cable, not the ordinary one. It takes lots of time if you charge through other cable or charger. One good thing about this USB cable, it is not soldered, it is crimped. So, you can repair it with little efforts.
There is a video on youtube for the same, As I am new in this community, can't post the link. You can copy the above text and search in google.

No, the charger will work just fine. It won't charge your phone unless it supports qi charging, of course. Ie: Vermizon model only as far as I know.
Well look here. Today I found out my phone has wireless charging!
Yea only the Verizon model has QI. I ended up buying 2 of them and they're great. Sucks they have a proprietary barrel power cable but it seems to charge much faster then my Samsung USB one made for a Note 3. I still use my Samsung one for travel.

Best USB Replacement USB Cable for N7100

My original usb cable has lost its performance to charge my galaxy note.
Its current just 400mA (galaxy note normally need around 1800) . So it'll takes more time to charge.
As my experience with samsung device.
Samsung usb cable is easly lost its performance to charge.
I've tried :
blackberry gemini usb cable (400mA)
Galaxy tab usb cable (1100-1600mA)
So I'm planing to replace my usb cable with sony xperia z usb cable. (I don't know the current yet)

Strange, the Canadian one has poor reviews.

Not strange if you read the reviews. They are not getting what they ordered. It's not coming from Amazon Prime. I have 4 of the one I posted and they are excellent cords, and I have tried many. Heavy duty construction with a snug fit. Data transfer works flawlessly and charges super fast. For 5.99, you can't beat it.
Just tried to order a couple from Amazon.com and it's another no Can do.
Here's a picture of an extra one I bought.

I use the Monoprice premium USB cable. They're cheap Chinese made, but they work well and fairly durable. Just buys a couple of them and you'll be set. The best part, they're cheap enough that when they do break, which none of mine have yet, you'll most likely not care and you'll already have a back up, assuming you bought more than one.
Personally, I keep charges and USB cables all over the place--car, backpack, work, home.
I just switched to a Nokia brand one. Came with the e52. Full 5-pin, never seen it below 1800 while testing.
Here it is on Amazon
I had a cable from Mediabridge (not the one in the link, an older model), it was nice and snug, than became loose, than melted (seriously)...
If you want to charge to 1800 mA, you need a cable that is short or thick. Most cables I tried that weren't $1 on eBay were OK.
