Stage fright update fails to install - G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

On wife's G gen2 the stage fright update prompts all the time to install...every time it fails then reboots...after reboot states it failed and no changes were made.
It is locked, not rooted, all stock 5.02, has never been unlocked.
I think it is xt1064 model.
Can I flash a stock rom with locked bootloader?
Will 16gb Gen 3 models be available for sale again?

yes you can flash a stock rom with locked bootloader ( normally same or higher build version) you can not go backwards or down (downgrade with locked BL)
yes they will but its a IF and when (wait and see) amazon normally a good indication of when..

I found your ROMs with stage fright already included in another thread that you created and followed those directions and it seemed to work fine.
Although I noticed the Google Services is back to using up most of the battery where usually the screen uses most of the battery. But that is other issue.

[Q] Verizon LG G2 VS980 in other country

Hi,
I just purchased this phone last week and using it in my country . I searched these forums but did not get the required response on my below queries.
1. Can I update my phone with the latest update through Verizon Desktop Software Assistant in my country? If yes, will my unlocked phone become a locked or there is a way out? MY phones's current version is VS98024A.
2. Can I flash my phone VS980 with an International version ROM of LG G2 (D802)?
3. Can I use tethering on my phone if I remain on my current version VS98024A?
Your help in this regard will highly be appreciated.
you can flash (download method) VS98026A, root it, put recovery, and there is patch for Hotspot (also for 24A).
I lived in Asia, ota will not happen if you are outside us, but you can update it with verizon software assistant.
Make sure your phone is stock or rooted if you update it. Do not install cwm or twrp when your update or it will stuck in bootloop.

Same here.. I used verizon upgrade assistant.. it gets photo informational .. then nothing .. just a moving object through wire from laptop to cellphone on the upgrade agent and nothing happens.. so i think buying Verizon LG G2 might be a mistake in Pakistan :crying:

T-mobil MRA68K to MRA68X

I have a Nexus 6 bought directly from Motorola but with a T-mobil sim from my
last phone. I'm running the MRA68K factory image of 6.0., and have never been
offered an OTA update.
Let me tell you what I THINK I know.
Although MRA68K does include the T-mobile band 12 and wifi calling feature,
for some reason T-mobil was not happy with it due to some bug revealed
in testing. MRA68X is the release they are happy with, and is what T-mobil
users running 5.1.1 are getting OTA. This OTA is not usable for phones running
any of the 6.0 release. There currently is no factory image for MRA68X.
Here is what I don't know:
- Will MRA68X be eventually released as a factory image.? Usually that comes
before not after the OTA. If not it would seem the need to flash a 5.1.1 image
to be able to take the MRA68X OTA.
- Is the T-mobil specific release a one time thing, or will there be a sequence of
T-mobil specific releases as in 5.X?
- I presume that when the phone checks for an update it bases it on the carrier's
SIM. Just curious, is it Google downloading the update but subject to the carrier's
instructions?

I have run all the MRA builds (K, N, R) on T-Mobile and they all support and have fully functioning WiFi calling, Band 12 support, and VoLTE. Not sure what's specific about X but I decided to switch to it just because it's "official".

I don't see where it says *only* L releases get the update but it may just be a matter of semantics.
"To be able to update to the current software version, the below requirements must be met:"
^^^ I take this to mean that you must have at least L to get the update. If you are on M already then you still meet that requirement. That's just my thoughts though. Dez is always in the know and that's what he said. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I noticed that your signature says "Nexus 6 rooted". If that is in fact the case, you will not be able to install any OTA. Neither via sideloading nor "over the air". The installer looks at the system file, and if there is ANY change from stock (including being rooted), it will abort the install. I've had it fail, even with a couple of apps frozen.
It looks like the document
https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-18109
has been updated. It now list MRA68K as eligible for the OTA to MRA68X. Earlier
it just listed the L* releases.

Check you build number
Check your build number (under the software version). If it has Dev-Key in it, it is probably developmental firmware.
See post http://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-live/help/samsung-gear-live-firmware-t3249219 for issue.

Found out my NEW Note 4 I brought is on Android 5.1.1 (DOK2) - Should I return it?

I just brought a NEW T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 4, and upon powering up the phone for the first time I found out the phone was on Android 5.1.1 (N910TUVU2DOK2).
Should I return this phone?
The reason I am considering returning this phone is because it is my understanding that the SM-N910T on Android 5.1.1 CANNOT do the following:
1. Cannot be rooted (partially or completely).
2. Cannot be downgraded to Android 4.4.4.
3. Cannot have any apps installed that would unlock the mobile hotspot feature without having to go through your carrier to pay extra.
Can anyone confirm if the above restrictions are correct?
I did the same thing in january..I was so damn excited about getting a N910T that I thought I could do whatever I wanted with and I didn't read up (well enough) on developement and ended up with DOK2. It is true you can't downgrade....as of right now....but I have never had any issue at all with root or apps that require root. As far as the the hotsppt mod is concerned, I can't help too much with that info because b I use straight talk...but i think it's a hit or miss situation...I think the two most popular roms for our phones (Tekhds and Overdrives) have the mod built in but I'm not 100% sure.. but I think the only way you could get one without DOK2 would be used

YES! 5.1.1 CAN be rooted. Just download the newest version of CF-Auto-Root. Do NOT use the one in the thread above/ below. It's outdated. Search that thread however to find others who HAVE rooted their 5.1.1, like me.

Cant Downgrade to December 2017 Nougat Update

If you upgraded your bootloader you can not go back.
I would flash different build and wait 168.
Example once you update example once go to xx1 to xx2 you can only flash xx2 roms.

ok then suggest me some official yet FLASHABLE rom for my device. I am pasting my current build and rom version. I downloaded the SAUDI ARABIAN version as I am in KSA and bought the phone from here. But downgrade didnt go well. Today I updated to the latest security update which was pending for the last 3 days. I think its some MAY UPDATE. Anyhow I am pasting my ROM version. Kindly suggest me the new official rom so I can flash it all the way and wait 168 hours as per your suggestion and check if OEM UNLOCK option appears or no. By the way I downloaded the official rom from www.updato.com
I need your assistance to learn these XX2 XX1 and baseband issues as I have switched to Samsung phones after 5 years and seems like whole lot has changed ever since and I also happen to forgot the Samsung way of rooting and ****. In the image where I can find XX2 or XX1 of my own Rom version? Its saying XXU2 and ARE1 for BASEBAND and ARE2 for BUILD NUMBER.. You meant XX2 = XXU2 ? As I dont see any XX2 directly in my Phone ROM info.
Very simply once you update to xx2 you can't go back to xx1 these are example.
I have updated to other stock roms and I did update xx2 and update so I can update to Oreo when it comes available .
Never had any problems with unlocking bootloader.
Before doing this like root ect I would read what I have posted many many times before how root this phone.

With all due respect, your English seems to be a lil bit poor or may be you wrote it too fast, as I didnt understand somethings you said. Check your comment again. Like for example what do you mean to say to me by telling that you updated your ROM 3 times:
"I have updated to other stock roms and I did update xx2 and update so I can update to Oreo when it comes available "
Anyways, I have download and Flashed 1 latest XX2 KSA ROM 2 days ago and I am waiting for 168 hours to complete and see if OEM UNLOCK appears or not. I haven't inserted my sim Since this FLASH as you said so not to insert the sim. If this ROM doesn't work out for me then suggest me any EUROPEAN or US or other ASIAN XX2 ROM which you have FLASHED and used and got yourself the OEM UNLOCK option available.
Once you been locked out and you have reflash stock and white data.
You will need to insert sim card I believe.
When I got my phone I did not put sim card in I booted it and check allow oem unlocking in development section.
I went to download mode flashed TWRP.
Booted to TWRP reformat then from other sdcard I flash custom kernelv1 and root.
I have never been locked out ever.
