Nexus 6 Stock Android with SuperSu 2.50 root silent mode toggle missing - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi don't you guys know how to get silent mode quick toggle to show in the quicksettings menu?
Under System UI Tuner in settings it shows up as activated toggle in quick settings, but its not there.
Any tipps?

No one has this issue besides me?

Please 131 views and no answer. Can someone at least tell me how to activate silent mode in android m?

If nothing else use your volume down button until you get it sorted out.

I personally have not had this issue. Did you do a clean install or a dirty install over m preview? Might just be a snafu. Personally I would start off with clean install and see if that resolved it.

No, I didn't do a clean install I dont have the time for it for installing and setting up everything from scratch. So I know it could be the cause but still interesting that there is no way to get silent mode. Useing the voluke buttons gives me only vibra mode. So I thunk no solution, silent mode just disappeared for good

The 'silent mode' is called Do Not Disturb and it's right here:

From the screenshot I can see that you have System UI Tuner activated (see the wrench symbol next to the Settings icon?).
Did you mess around with System UI Tuner by any chance?
If so, open Settings > System UI Tuner > Quick settings > Add tile.

Yes systen ui is activated. But i didn't do anything with it, I didnt disabled the dnd/silent fuction. As you can see in the picture below the system ui shows silent mode activeted

Sure that you're running Google's stock ROM?
1. There is no "silent" quick settings tile (and definitely not starting with a small "s" like in your screenshot - the names of all tiles start with a capital letter) in the stock ROM. Instead there is a "Do not disturb" tile.
2. The quick settings background colour in your screenshots is lighter/different from that of Google's stock ROM.
Which ROM did you actually install on your device?

Its a 100% stock rom. I am just useing layers manager and thanks to the native support of rro in android m (and also enabled, not like in lollipop) you can easily theme your phone. It has nothing to do with the toggles. The only slight difference between my rom and stock rom that i am rooted, hence needed a modded kernel, for this i am useing this kernel which is slightly modifed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/development/kernel-stock-kernel-root-color-control-t3218958
Everything else stock

I see. Something must be affecting that tile though - an app, the layers manager, the modified kernel, or something else.

[APP] Widgetsoid2.x ... 3rd party Power Control Widget, and more... way more!

Just thought I'd pass this along. Before the NS, I used the hell out of "Extended Controls" ... Sadly, most of the toggles I would have liked to use do not work with the NS (2.3 compatibility issue?). Emailed the dev and got responses right away saying it will be updated next week. Next week came and gone ... came and gone again. Dev is probably behind with RL stuff so sooner or later it will be updated. In the mean time, I found an awesome alternative with more features ... and its free.
Widgetsoid2.X
Highly customizable power control widget ... and can even be configured to add a power control widget from your notification bar drop down.
Yeah I really like widgetsoid. Since cm team still hasn't got the flashlight working I use its flashlight widget inside the notification bar. Works great.

ohh that's a nice find
Odd. Both my wife and I use extended controls fine. I find if you restore it via Titanium, it doesn't work but if you do a fresh install of it, everything functions great. Good find though.

The widget isn't really not put in the notification bar. It puts the image of your widget there but when you click on a power control it brings up the power control in an overlay of your screen where you then select which power control you want to turn on/off. For me (not short on screen space) its no quicker than using regular widget on the screen.
thanks! I've been using extended controls even though it wasn't fully operational w/gingerbread. Just dl'ed widgetzoid and bluetooth works! Liking the vertical option too..
I was really impressed by Widgetsoid and its developer 2 weeks ago. I found a bug, emailed the dev, and got a response in like an hour. Within like 2 hours of emailing him, he tracked down the bug and incorporated a fix into the next release. Now that's service.
we reported it a while ago
http://www.mobiflip.de/2011/01/andr...-benachrichtigungsleiste-einfach-nachruesten/
(p.s. google translate is your friend )
The thing I really like is how easy it is to edit existing widgets. Saves a lot of time if you just want to add or remove something from a power control type bar
the app is good, no doubt, but it's a major pain in the back to configure
some options are no longer available after you hit apply
so if you ever want to change them again, you can't (for example the invisible option, there are a few more that are no longer accessible after it was saved)
and the only alternative is to delete it, and create a new one

Guess that's why I'm sticking with extended controls. Profiles are so easy to edit.
but once you master this App, it's a big treasure chest!
once everything was properly setup and configure, it easily replaced 7+ apps
TeslaLED
tons of On/Off Widgets
Ace Volume
Battery info
crap load of other ones i uninstalled
i setup 4 rows, maybe gonna add 1 more for 5 rows for Apps
that's the nice thing about this app, you can create custom shortcuts to make it launch your most used apps, from the Notification area
i simply love it

are you guys able to enable/disable Data with Widgetsoid 2.x on Nexus S using Gingerbread 2.3.. (unrooted?).
Most items work, but this one does not toggle Mobile Data on/off on my phone. I dunno if this is a security limitation right now with this OS.

Yeah I noticed this too. Was a shame, cause this is the main reason I was after this. I guess this functionality of directly enabling/disabling from the task bar cannot be enabled in stock roms without direct framework changes.

Hi,
Widgetsoid need root only for the reboot toggle
For the data on Nexus S just restaur your apn, check your data is enable and go to global preferences of widgetsoid and check "disable all apn".
Now it have to work.

Android don't allow event on notifications it's an android limitation not an widgetsoid error/limitation.
On HTC rom it's works directly because HTC have modify android source code to allow this. HTC users are lucky. Next version have an option to disable popup after click on notification.

Unknown notification bar icon

The gear shaped icon in the picture appeared yesterday and I have no clue what it means. There's no information in the drop down and I've not installed or updated anything that I'm aware of. Anyone seen this icon, or know what it means and how to get rid of it? Not rooted. Thanks.

Looks like the icon that pops up for watching porn. It's permanent. :silly:
Kidding aside, I don't know what that gear is, but on the SGS3 there was a similar issue brought up and it wound up being a notification bar notification toggle icon.

Have you updated your tablet yet might be the update icon if not its a persistent app that's running in the background and use a app called startup manager it will help you figure out the app.

That's definitely the power control widget causing that. You were able to hide it easily until the most recent update, and I haven't figured out how to hide it since

you can hide notifications for any app in jellybean - settinsg > applications > find the application > untick 'display notifications' (or whatever it says)
Don't forget about the new JB feature.
If you hold down a notification, it will give you an "App Info" selection.

Yeah, that's exactly what it is. When Power Controls was background updated yesterday, the setting 'Notification Icon' in the app settings was reverted to 'default' (which displays the gear icon). I had previously set this to 'transparent' but now notice that that setting still takes up a slot on the notification bar & looks weird when it's sandwiched between 2 notification icons. I've since set the 'Notification Icon' setting to 'Battery 3' and have removed my Battery Widget? Reborn! widget & notification icon. Thanks to everyone for their help & suggestions. [HOW TO][ANY ROM] Install and Configure Halo

I saw a lot of people not knowing how to configure it, so here's how I got it to work
1. Install Floating Notifications and enable it in the Accesibility menu.
2. Select the box labeled "Launch Apps in Halo Mode"
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
3. Go to the app notifications menu and check which ones you want it to notify you for. HINT: if you want a real halo experience the rightmost icon in the app list will make the icon stay floating.
4. This is a personal preference: Go to Customize in Floating Notifications and select "Dock after a few seconds of inactivity" and then at the bottom set "Amount of the icon hidden when docked:" to 55%. If it is more than 55% then you will have trouble clicking the stack.
5. REBOOT PHONE.
Now for the Xposed part.
1. Install Xposed Framework
2. REBOOT PHONE.
3. Go into Xposed Installer and go to "Downloads" and select XHaloFloatingWindow, and then install it.
4. REBOOT PHONE.
5. Go into Xposed Installer and go into "Modules" and check the box "XHaloFloatingWindow".
6. For safe measure REBOOT PHONE. And then you're done
Lemme know if y'all need any help!
Also on the reboots it hung on the splash for a while.
Oh yeah not responsible if your device catches fire.

Ultra Brightness mode for elementalx

Just thought I would pop it here for anyone interested, some different tools for UBM

Any chance the 3T will get reading mode?

The only thing that pulls me away from my beloved 3T towards the OP5 is the reading mode. Is there any chance the 3T will get that functionality, either officially or via custom roms?

Just go to developer settings -> Simulate color space -> select "Monochromacy".
It will change your display to greyscale.
I haven't looked into the reading mode on the Oneplus 5 too much, but it really seems to be the same thing. - and this feature has been around for awhile now...
Offtopic... I believe that one of the first devices to have greyscale mode, marketed as a battery saving feature at the time (before it was an option available by default in android - the "simulate color space" option) was the galaxy note 4.
Nice, tried it out and it seems to work well. Now to find a way to push-button the setting.

Search for "color corection" with quick shortcut maker, or search for it under nova launcher - > widget - > activities
By not selecting any option (just toggling the on/off switch), it is by default set to the option you had set under "simulate color space" - so... Monochromacy.
Edit: i just noticed... The screenshot with the switch turned on is still colored, although the display was showing greyscale colors )
It's easy to find under nova activities... No reason to install quick shortcut maker for it.

Found a way...
