Who would like to see a nexus 6 color OS port? - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Like the title says. Who would like to see a nexus 6 color OS port? I will begin porting the ROM to the nexus 6 if I get enough people that would be interested in doing it. I'd like to start a new project but only want to start one if it would get some use thanks. Just sent a thanks or a comment if you would like to see this happen.

which OS version would it be based on, 5.1.1 or 6.0?
thanks

You don't even need to ask, is a nexus device. There's always gonna be crack flashers such as myself ready to try the newest thing out there

It would be 5.1.1 for now and then grow into 6.0 after it matures a bit.

Word. Reason I asked is cause I just want to make sure that this would be a hit because me personally I love color OS but being my first ROM I'd like to make sure I have a decent community on it or maybe try something different like an aosp based ROM. I've made ROMs before but have never released them only used them on my own personal device or my wife's.

That's not the nexus way bro. Release the ROM, put a disclaimer that this is your personal ROM to share and people will use it.
This being the new age xda, you'll have a ton of idiots that mess up and blame you, expect too much out of you, download your ROM without so much a thanks or review, complain when they don't follow instructions. I think that's about it. but that aside I would love to try out your ROMs.

I'm by far not new on here just a new profile sense the other one got all bloated and then I had been a way for a while and no longer use the other email. As for being the nexus way I believe it would go towards any phone or ROM. I just wanted to make this to see who shared my interest in a specific ROM. But ya man I'm gonna leave this here for a few days and make sure this is the way I am gonna go and see who all is down thanks.

Count me in boss.

Anyone with ROM making experience want to team up with me and help?

I just Google searched this, coming from opo to nexus 6 4ish months ago it would be perfect. With color os everything is proportioned to the bottom of the screen not like miui which looks the same but functions way off. Bought all my nexus's for aosp only other thing I'll settle for is color os. Was a cyanogenmod fanboy but they've obviously left things broken on the n6 just to point a finger at Google. Very disgusted with cm 12.1 for n6 out of the 30+ devices I've owned n6 bugs are left intentionally. Gonna try miui 6. But if you get this project going with momentum I'll donate generously. Thank you, color os is a ***** to code so good luck. Any work would be appreciated

Can you say when the ROM will realease ???

Would it not make more sense trying to recreate the OS style in AOSP rather than port a closed-source ROM that can't be easily modified?
Just playing devil's advocate.

1. I guess you're not familiar with porting. It is a lot of work. No one could ever say how much work to get it 100% functional. It's just not possible to put a time on it.
2. It is against XDA rules to ask for ETA's

Seems rasbeanjelly doesn't get much attention...

I stumbled across this ROM in a Trinity thread and decided to give it a try. After a couple days use with no issues I thought I would see how many others are having success with this ROM. I wonder why it doesn't get the visibility or attention of some of the others that stay near the top of discussion? It's very fast and stable for me without a custom kernel, anyone have in experience with rasbeanjellly long term? I wonder how many other ROMs are out there that are really good but garner small followings compared to the "favorites"?
Its because the rom does not have its own dedicated thread. Rascarlo prefers to kep it in the trinity thread. It is a great rom.

I like having the 2 threads in one. It makes it simple to keep up with what's going on.
Click XDA app
Click DER Kernel thread
Read a page or 2
DL if need be
IMO - As long as you've caught up to the recent state of things in the thread, the system works perfectly. The fact that there isn't too much traffic (not necessarily a bad thing) makes it nice and manageable.

Many overdo the amount of tweaking and changes that AOSP needs, rasbeanjelly is just right. Just enough to give you an extra bit of functionality without killing stability

What happened to all these great Roms we were supposed to get?

Just curious where all these Roms for our Sprint Samsung Galaxy S4 are?
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda premium
We have lots of them ..which "great one " are you waiting for :what:
Seems like many of the DEVs have left Sprint for Verizon and/or decided they like their Note2's better.A lot of the rest all seem to be obsessed with AOSP/AOKP/CM Roms despite the fact that it removes most of the functionality that makes this phone great.
Unfortunately the blind hatred of TouchWiz for no good reason is hurting this phone.
Learn to build your own rom.

Ya on all the aosp the cameras are not even close to the stock one"unless there is a stock camera apk .".I see your point.. really haven't looked at it like that..that being said I would still never go back .pacman with faux =:beer:
There are as many good roms for the Sprint version as there are for the others. Also, you guys should feel lucky that that Sprint has felt charitable enough to not lock this device down like Verizon and AT&T have as devs are indeed leaving those versions even as we speak.....

I don't even think I have seen a single Dev from either the epic touch community or gs3 go from sprint to Verizon.I've seen ATT and T-Mobile. Anyways we have many great devs in our community. And you can't expect every single one that you like to get the same phone as you. Since we don't all have upgrades at the same time. Some may have used it on a gs3 and now can't upgrade until gs5 or simply don't have the money to upgrade. We are all regular people. My guess is that by black Friday time we will have many more devs come over. This happened with the gs3. The number of Roms jumped a lot from what I remember since some people were able to get the gs3 for a penny with an upgrade.
And since when is there a blind hatred for touch wiz. Over the past two years I have seen more people prefer Touchwiz Roms over AOSP based. Easy comparison, check the number of posts and views of all aosp based Roms to that of touchwiz. And tell me which one has more. This goes for the sprint gs3 as well. From my view Touchwiz is the most stable and fully functional ROM for Samsung phones.

personaly i like the look of miui and android 4.4 more than any other rom. i think kit kat is the way to go though since i actually want an freaking app drawer haha.
miui had the elegance and style till android 4.4 came out. now its simply who wants miui functionality vs aosp 4.4.
I prefer the look of miui also, stock android lacks synergy imo, all of the apps just seem all over the place with nothing in common design wise asides from the various shades of blue lol. The consistent design is what I like about miui and even sense 5 to some extent.

exactly. um, personaly, i think that android 4.4 is making progress with making a common style of app icons, but its not androids goal to make things look any better. its more of a functional os. like i say "iphones are toys for kids who care about the bling" and "androids are simply pieces of hardware, the rest is up to you"

There is no such thing as a "best" rom... there is only personal taste... Try different rom and see what the have to offer that you like...I personally like to stay as close to stock as possible so I don't like roms that have for example the app side bar....but you might.
yeah I understand why youre asking but at the end of the day the best rom for you is the one you like best.
I currently use stock it does what I need until there is an option I am missing or a rom with a far and away performance boost im cool with that.
Just ask yourself what specific things do I want?
Look for a rom with those. If there arent any specific ones do what was mentioned and look for 3 or 4 roms that you find interesting and dive right in
Oh and Backups = Awesome!
While i agree with everything said.
If you specify what your after in a rom. We could point you to one that fits the bill.
I personally like stable with everything and the kitchen sink.
Currently using euphoria and extremely happy.
What car is the best? ...... see
It's subjective. There is no best rom, that's like asking what's the best shoe to wear? Everybody has their own choices.
Its your responsibility to see what's out there and then give them a try.

Very few instances do I know that MIUI has been brought over without CM. I am with the guy above in saying, maybe you should help the efforts of CM to get MIUI on the device. We are having issues establishing RIL on CM, therefore, I expect the same from any other rom out there.
With CM, an abundance of ROMs will come to all the devices that support flashing of ROMs. So if you want to see more ROMs then that's where to start.
Yea he is right we should help with cm first. Imagine how fluid and faster our g4 will be? Since cm well aosp roms are so light

I wonder how in the world MIUI will happen before CM when we dont even have a fully working device tree? Lol
First we need to have a working Cyanogen and then you will see as many roms you want to try but again not unless CM is fully working, mate.

Pretty sure MIUI uses lots of CM parts, at least they did.
You guys can open your bounty thread for CM... No point ganging up on the OP... Open your own threads and discuss with other members as I think that's what XDA is for, a community of different people with different needs. I remember S3 having MIUI using the stock ROM not just CM only.

Yeah, but we'd still need a working device tree.
Which we don't have at the moment. True, you don't need CM to port MIUI but it is an immense help if there already is a device tree, since making one isn't ... isn't exactly easy.
Thank you
You guys can put money towards what ever you want. To me it doesn't matter the time frame for me but my money is for miui.
If you guys want to put money towards CM go ahead but I will state again my bounty is for miui nothing else.
So if it takes cm to get it working regardless my money is for miui 7 on tmobile g4 that's it.
So for the person that can do this just keep in the back of your mind my thread and when the time comes you pm me and I will get the money to you

You guys can open your bounty thread for CM... No point ganging up on the OP... Open your own threads and discuss with other members as I think that's what XDA is for, a community of different people with different needs. I remember S3 having MIUI using the stock ROM not just CM only.

He is absolutely correct
I have stayed many times my money is for miui and if you guys want to get a tree well then start a bounty but I am willing to spend 40 dollars for miui when ever the time comes that it can be on this phone

Why are you assuming that I want money? I'm just saying that a working device tree would help, since it is needed for any Rom built from source.

I am not assuming you want money I was saying if you want to put your money to that it is fine. I however understand that all this needs to happen and there is a process but I have no time frame. When time comes and some one can bring it over in its entirety then I will have 40 dollars for them

We must find a very good dev. That is willing to troubleshoot and get miui 7 or even 6 at least working properly. But that must require a fully new g4 for him to play around with to get it working.
XDA in general does not allow "bounty" threads. In most case, when we do, it would be for a bootloader unlock method.
If you want MIUI, bring your request to the MIUI forums.
Thank you
