Adapters for cables - Nexus 5X Accessories

So what are you guys doing about the move to type c? I haven't found any adapters to convert the microusb end into type c... Do they not exist? I have about 10 cables, battery backups, all based on the old type

Yes but he wants an adapter to use all his current cables and not have to buy new ones.

Those threads also talk about adapters.. We don't need a dozen different threads about cables and adapters.

USB C to USB A cable

Don't forget about these things, unless you happen to have a USB C connector on your computer already. The 5X does not come with this cable; it only comes with a USB C to USB C cable. The 6P does, however.

Hi 0.0, I was looking at that same 4 pack earlier as well. Does anyone know if USB-C to USB-A cables (these specifically, or in general I guess) will allow for data transfer when connected to a PC or can they only be used for charging?
Edit: Nevermind, it says in the product description. Thanks, ordered a set.

Not sure why, but it states in the description of those adapters that they are for Data Sync only, doesn't say anything about them working for charging. I hope that isn't the case, but just a heads up.

how about a type C male to type C female? does that exist??
For what it's worth, OnePlus finally have their cables up for sale after forever promising them lol. Android Police gave it stellar reviews stating it was of the better cables available when they did their review on them. They only range from $5 to $7 but you do have to pay shipping, still probably much better quality than the generic ones selling on Amazon.
I did order 3 of them, hopefully they are good. Wish they had some that were 6 ft. though.

Question for the community.
I rely on OTG a lot. I have a couple of Micro USB Male to USB A Female adaptors. Is there any reason that I couldn't plug a Type C Male to USB 2.0 Micro B Female adapter (like jadeddjay's item above) into the 5X, plug an existing Micro USB Male to USB A Female OTG cable into that, and then plug my standard cable into that? So:
5X <-- Type C Male to USB 2.0 Micro B Female adapter <-- Micro USB Male to USB A Female OTG <-- standard cable .
I guess it would it be safer to just get a new OTG cable with a Type C Male and USB A Female, like this one. But I'd rather get an adapter that can serve multiple functions as opposed to a new OTG cable that I will only use with one device.
Probably a dumb question, but...
I'm a little out of the tech game, and my knowledge isn't where it should be. That will probably make this a dumb question...
I am going to get a 5x, but have loads and loads of micro-usb peripherals; does anyone know if a micro-usb to type-c convertor exists? I've looked, but it's a pain to search for, as my search results always flip what i want around to type-c to micro-usb / similar.
Long story short; i'd rather not buy loads of new type-c cables, and instead would like a converter that I can plug into my existing kit, for me to then use with the type-c port on the 5x.
Does such a thing exist?
Cheers!
I'm been looking at cables since the phone was announced and I realize I've been spoiled by the cheap cables on monoprice. Hopefully they come down in price by the end of the year.
Is there a reason most A to c type are only one meter? .Best I've been able to find is 2 meter.
Would a USB extension cable work with a USB a to c?
I have a lot of charging equipment that is type a, trying to keep using it.

Well not everyone has an outlet within 3 feet of where they are sitting. For example, when I'm sitting in my living room, my closest outlet is behind my recliner, and I like to be able to use my phone while it charges, so a 6 ft cable is very handy.

Wait, why aren't people buying a micro-usb female to usb c male adapter to use existing micro usb cables and chargers?

Is there a usb type a male to usb type c female adapter?

Is there a usb type a male to usb type c female adapter? Please read that statement carefully basically I want a adapter to convert a computer usb type a 3.1 female port to a type c port that I could plug a standard type c cable of the nexus 5x into.
I am not interested in cable because usb type c cable is the future, if I buy usb cable might as well buy the true type c cable

Havent seen any - most people would prefer to just have the right cable (male usb-c to male usb-a) and not add an adapter even if using the cable that comes with the 5x.

He wants to use the type C cable that comes with the phone.... and then an adpater to change it onto a male USB A. Not sure why he is limiting himself to that. I assume adapting to USB A male still makes the USB C cable default to the same slower charge speeds as a regular micro USB cable.

Just a heads up on this; looks to be as the A port is device and C port is host. Backwards from what I'm guessing the OP wants. I've ran into this with a few cables and adapters and ended up only being able to charge my 5X/6P.
Note that any adapter that meets the OP's criteria will necessarily violate the USB specifications, as they explicitly require that any Type-C adapters be male, not female:
USB Type-C Cable and Connector Specification v1.1 said:
USB Type-C receptacle to USB legacy adapters are explicitly not defined or allowed. Such adapters would allow many invalid and potentially unsafe cable connections to be constructed by users.

Help with chargers / cables

Hello,
So I just ordered a Nexus 5X. I am trying to figure out what the deal is with the issues with some USB C cable and what is the best option for aftermarket chargers.
Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems USB A to USB C cables are 2.4A max. USB C to USB C are 3A max. So the way to obtain the fastest charging possible is to have a 3A wall plug and a 3A capable USB C to USB C cable?
I am content with the OEM charger for the house, so I am mainly trying to figure out what to get for a charger for my car. Should I be looking for a 3 Amp car plug and a 3 Amp cable? Or am I looking for 2.4A / 2.4A? I am totally confused.
Also, I read somewhere that the Nexus 5X has a chip on the logic board that makes it fully compatible for Qualcomm Quickcharge 3.0, and that it may be available later on through an update. Anyone heard this? If so I may as well get Quickcharge 3.0 products.
If someone could please explain this whole USB C ordeal I would greatly appreciate it. Thank You!
EDIT:
I figured it all out. I ended up order the following:
Cable Matters 3.3ft USB to USB C Cable ( This will be my data / sync cable)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00S8GU2OC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages00
Cable Matters 3.3ft USB C to USB C Cable ( This will be for my car)

Vinsic 3A USB C Car Charger (This has a USB C and a USB Port)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014F2NQ36?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages00
The Cable Matters USB to USB C has been confirmed compliant by Benson Leung so I wont have to worry about it frying any USB ports on my computer. lol

Sounds like you got the info just right. What's important about A to C is the resistor used and that it meets specifications. If not it'll be asking a charger for 3.0A when it can't give it possibly leading to burning out the charger. For me, I got the Elegiant A to C cables (which are compliant) for older ports since C isn't as readily available. Good for old car chargers, old wall chargers, hotel rooms, shopping center charging stations, etc. C to C is necessary for full rapid charging so I'm waiting for a car charger and compact battery bank that support 3.0A type C.

Thank you for clarifying. I thought I had it right I just wanted to make sure.
Also, I came across a 3A car charger. I already ordered it. There were a couple reviews that stated it wouldn't run at 3A, but there were also reviews stating that it does run on 3A IF you use the USB C port only. (It has a USB and a USB C Port) So I am assuming the people who had issues were probably using the USB side.

I can't find the article I read that stated QC 3.0 (I think they were wrong anyways), but I did hop over to the iFixit Nexus 5X tear down page. I remembered that they always list the IC's on logic boards for their tear downs. Sure enough, the Nexus 5X has the Qualcomm SMB1358 Quick Charge 2.0 IC.

USB Type-C HDMI Adapter

I've found plenty of USB Type-C to HDMI adapters online, though wanted to check if anyone has given any of these a try?
Would anyone know if all HDMI / USB-C adapters should be compatible with the Huawei P9?
I use one of these...
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Adapter-Fe...&qid=1463913348&sr=1-2&keywords=Aukey+adapter
There are cheaper ones around, but I think you should get one with a 56k ohm resistor... Something about laptops/phones being fried without one!

USB 2/3.0 to USB C charging cables

I know there was a big issue with some of these and the Note 7 where the cables had issues with the amps or something and I-Orange cables were recommended, I want to pick up some more of them now for the Note 8 and apparently I-Orange has had some quality control issues or something happened where they are changing their name and I am seeing allot of customers giving them bad reviews now.
So Who has the best (preferred) USB 3.0 to USB C charging cables?

I've heard the QC for the Anker cables are pretty bad. Going to try CHOETECH this round.
I've stuck with Anker as their quality has seemed to remain high and these USB 3.0 and 3.1 type A to C cables are no exception.
To be fair though, the phone fast charges just fine with an old Blackberry usb 2.0 cable and micro A to C adapter as well. I am guessing you'd need a pretty awful cable to fail.
