[Help] Only charging in MTP mode - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Z1 C6902 5.1.1 root
As usual, I connect USB cable in MTP mode to explorer internal or external storage, but now :
- In MTP Mode : I can't do nothing, it just charging althought on PC and on mobile say connected, and MTP driver falsed in Devices manager. Sony PC Companion can't detect device too.
- In MSC Mode : normally
I tried many ways : uninstall driver, on/off USB debug, delete "upperfilters" key in regedit, unmount SD card.... but nothing changed
How can I fix it, please.
Is there any hidden options that I "may" turn MTP mode for only charge ?
(Sorry for my bad English)

[Q] Impossible to connect USB - ''Not of USB charging. Dont launch MTP APP''

New phone, it's not an I9000, it's a Samsung Galaxy 3 (I5800), if this is the wrong forum, my apologies.
First days everything went fine, even with Kies in 2 PCs.
Things start going really wrong this morning when I connected the phone to the laptop, mass storage option selected, dragged notifier, unmount sdcard option was available.
Checked the laptop and I had no sdcard drive in explorer.
Updated Kies, tried the usb drivers available in this forum, nothing worked.
Backup of sdcard through an sdcard reader, format sdcard, and the end result is the same. Meanwhile during the morning, the notifier disappeared, I had no option to unmount the sdcard anymore. When I connect the usb cable to the pc, pc says "Hi", phone says "Bye" (both do a sound) and nothing happens.
Resuming, phone is rooted, XP on the laptop, Win7 on the PC, updated Kies, updated drivers, tried USB Debugging, keep-alive option, all usb options available beside mass-storage, changed back to TWLauncher, same result: Nothing.
When connecting the phone to a different usb port, windows installs 2 modem drivers and a Samsung USB Composite Device.
Part of the logfiles say:
E/MTPRx ( 9735): In MtpReceiverandroid.intent.action.ACTION_POWER_CONNECTED
E/MTPRX ( 9735): Battery charging. plugType = 1
E/MTPRx ( 9735): Not of USB charging. Dont lauch MTP APP
E/Setting ( 9810): Intent Action android.intent.action.ACTION_POWER_CONNECTED
E/Setting ( 9810): Battery charging. plugType = 1
E/Setting ( 9810): AC charge
I'm sending the log in attach in case someone wants to have a look.
And now the questions:
- I still have 2 more days to replace the phone for a new one, do you think this is an hardware problem? Usb Cable?
- I will not be able to upgrade the firmware without a working usb connection correct ? Or is it possible to put the firmware file on the sdcard and upgrade it from there?
Thanks for the help.
Update:
- It's not the cable, I just tried to connect it with another cable I had around here (from my old Nokia xpress)
This is stupid... solved it with a hard reset/factory defaults + sdcard format :-/

Removable Disk vs Galaxy Note when connecting to PC

When conecting my Note to a Winows PC via USB, on some computers I get 2 Removable Disks (i.e. E: & F, and in which to enable these drives to be viewed, I have to go to the alert screen on my Note and select enable USB.
Other times when connecting the Note to a PC, I get a Samsung Note listed un My Computer, and in that case I can just click on it and it will allow me to view contents of Note without having to enable it via the phone.
Any idea why this is?
Thanks
do you have usb debugging enabled?
The first Option called Mass Storage (Faster file transfer)
And the second one called MTP (Media Transfer Protocol).

Aha...
When I have USB Debgging on I get the the Mass Storage (phone shows up as removable disk) and when I have USB Debugging off I get the MTP (phone shows as GT-N7000)....
Thanks to you both!
Was searching for the same..glad you have posted...thanks guys!!!

Advantage of MTP is, while trying to copy some media files it ll ask you to "convert and copy". so that Note can play that media file.
To add to it!! MTP mode is slower than usb mode and while on MTP mode u can access the card on phone and computer simultaneously!!
SHOT from my LOADED GT-N7000!!
This is not the case for me
I have USB Debgging enabled, since I use adb for some stuff, however, usb will always be in MTP mode!
i disabled USB Debgging and tried it then enabled it again but it is always in MTP.
does anyone know why?
i am using rooted stock rom.

Bub,
Before you connect the cable open settings> wireless and network > usb utility > connect usb storage then it will ask you to connect the cable. Connect the cable and it should mount the phone as usb storage...
Hit thanks if it helped
Peave out!!

"wireless and network" OMG, i remember seeing the usb setting somewhere then i looked all over but of course not inside "wireless and network" !! why here, should be under storage or something more related...
anyway, thanks for the help
I think i have similar problem here. The only thing is that i could not connect to Samsung Kies. When I try to troubleshot it, connection error occurs.
What would I possibly do about it?

Thats abnormal use pc companion.... Should work
Is it because you switched to MSC mode?
Try this:
Go to settings->Xperia->Connectivity> USB Connection Mode
If "MSC" mode, select "MTP" and try again.
If u get problem even in MTPA mode
Restart phone - disable / enable mtp driver on pc and check for update of it manually
If problem remains uninstall driver and pc companion then select to install pc companion on phone in connectivity option. Then w8 for installation of pc companion and drivers

Thanks for the replies, this one worked, as soon as I uninstalled and selected to do it from the phone it connected and worked, thanks again
Looks like I spoke to soon, now my PC isn't seeing the phone at all, device manager says the adb drivers are installed and ok but when I plug the phone in device manager shows an ion for the plugged in phone with this message "Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37)". I have repeated the steps like mentioned above but PC companion doesn't finish installing it's apps cause it doesn't see the phone.
Funny thing is using ES Explorer in the phone I can copy stuff from the pc to the phone

Need help with MTP and C5303 Driver!~

Hey guys,
Recently i purchased a chinese tablet called "Onda V811 Quad Core". i used that usb cable to charge and also access the PC to send files to tablet. It was too slow so i used my Xperia SP 5303 usb cable.
After that, i charged the tablet as well with the Xperia SP 5303 usb cable and adapter. It worked.
The problem: When i plugged my Xperia SP usb cable into my computer and connect it to my XSP 5303 phone, icould not install the drivers for some reason. I already installed all the drivers and could access the SD card on my PC before.
But now every time i plug in my XSP usb cable into my XSP, i cant install the drivers since it says it fails to instal BOTH MTP Driver, and Xperia SP 5303 Driver, making me cannot access SD Card. =(
Is it because of my chinese tablet that i plugged it once in it? or is it my phone?
I have tried everything, turned USB debugging on and everything but nothing works.... also tried to install ADB drivers... that didn't work as well....
I'm on Android 4.3.
It charges my phone, but can't install drivers which means i can't get to SD Card on computer.
Does that mean i can never get to my SD Card ever again?
Please help guys =( ~
Thank you!~
Go to your Xperia SP: Settings > Xperia > USB Connection > MTP and check PC companion installation on. If that doesnt work you can also try it with MSC mode.
If both options dont work you need to remove all the sony drivers installed (perhaps also from your tablet), reboot pc and try again.
ok thankyou, i will try that when i get home because i have school now. i will tell you the results later. thanks for replying.

Wow, thank you very much!,t hat did the work, now i just need to know how to get MTP drivers to install so i can access my internal memory card as well, so i can put /obb files in there for games .
Could you possibly help me out with that one as well?, that would be nice of you ^^
Reconnect your phone into MTP mode should do the trick (windows does recognise the drivers by itself and will install when missing)
I tried that and it just gives me the error that i can't install the driver etc.
error, can't install.
What error? Device gave problems or crashed?
The only error it gives me is that my driver (MTP) is unsuccessful in installing.
What os do you use?

Hmm weird very very weird. Could you check all the installed components in you PC (Start > My PC > Device managment)? And while you do so connect your phone in MSC...
Here you go, that's all the drivers i have for the USB drivers.
I attached below a picture.
The one with the Triangle icon int he picture is the one with the MTP where i can't install the driver. Thanks
Hi,
I am also trying to install the MTP driver for my Xperia SP C5303, but I can't locate it, even using Hardware ID string in device manager. Can someone please help. Thanks.

Mtp OTG doesn't work

Hi ! I don't know why but I want to connect my Pixel 4a 5G Yesterday on my mac and today on Pc the pixel is not recognized.
I have uncheck usb debuging and check it again but not working.
My Pixel are on last Android 12 and root with magisk. it is possible that a mode can create a problem with the OTG ?
I have test on Safe mod doesn't work too
I have connect an usb type c usb key it recognize.
I have test connect on plateform tools and on terminal ./adb devices, have message on pixel to allow my computer and it recognize but not Android File transfert ?
I think stay the new update and see if I can update it !?
I don't understand why ?
Thanks
Hi ! I post again because when I connect usb key mtp works and if I connect to my mac and go to settings usb parameters and choose transfert files/Android auto that work but never had notification pop-up for choose it
USB is a master/slave protocol. When you plug in an otg cable, your phone's USB controller switches into host mode. Your computer's USB is always in host mode. So your effectively trying to get two master devices to communicate which USB does not support.
