[AOSP] 5.0.2 Hermes [Clean Aosp][Everything except HDR works] 18-10-2015 - Redmi Note 2 Original Android Development

Here is a new AOSP Rom for our loved phone. This time i took a working rom and modified it.
- Deepsleep should work (when it doesn't, just copy the android.policy.jar to system/framework via TWRP or ADB)
- No Bloatware installed!
- Xposed app is pre installed, but i couldn't get the framework nativly running, so you have to flash the sdk21-arm64.zip from this Post
- This rom is multilanguage, except Camera and Gallery, because i want to have the slow motion features offered by these only english apps
- and finally, like i said in the title, everything works just great. Only HDR makes the camera app force closing, so just don't use it.
Screen on time test can be found in post #27
No Gapps included! You have to download the package at OpenGappsor somewhere else. You can also use your already downloaded Gapps, that's why i didn't want to include them.

How's the battery life can you test it?

Could you disable the wifi data activity arrows please? Does it have a "normal" kernel or a modified one?

can you give more informations? what is base rom, what have you modified, does the phone heats too much around the back camera?

automatic screen light work?
Work on camera?
how much charging time?
Please extensive information?

For me the battery life seems to be at a normal state. I could test the sot tomorrow. Standby seems to drain nearly 1 % per hour, but i will leave my phone laying around over night and tell you the results.

Maybe it can be done with a xposed module, but for me, they aren't annoying and the annoying part with these huge 3G and E or 4G symbols is gone. I will try to do that, but i can't promise. It has the normal kernel, because i don't want to throttle my phone. Furthermore this is the only kernel mod out there in the moment and if you want that, you can use kernel auditor, it will do the same and you can configure something like BIG.Litte.

It's based on this rom i found a while ago at this chinese forum: http://bbs.ydss.cn/thread-588083-1-1.html
I added multilanguage, removed these huge E,G,3G,4G Symbols, applied a fix for deepsleep, deleted bloatware, changed camera and gallery app for slow motion and a few more things, i can't remember now.
I don't believe, that someone can disable the heating around the camera, because this is the normal behaviour, if you use cpu intense tasks.

Automatic screen light does work, but it changes quite fast the screen light, so when the sensor is reporting different lux values every second, your screen will change every second too (if it need to)
Both cameras are working, that was very important for me. Charging time will be the same as on other roms or are there differences between the hermes roms? I could test it tomorrow after my sot test.

Wait for your test. front camera greens ? front and rear cameras many pixels ? The notification light work ?
CPU settings do ?
I dance the MARSOPA ROM installed. Is this different from the MARSOP ROM ?

Front camera didn't green and has 5mp at 16:9 and 5mp at 4:3. Back camera has 13mb at 4:3 and 9:5 at 16:9. SlowMotion Capture at 120fps with backcamera. Taken several shots and nothing unnormal. LED Light does work with the same color, as it did with the original miui, so not RGB, but about 8 colors. CPU settings seem to work, i made 2 screenshots, where you can see the cpu governor and the cpu speed, while running geekbench, a cpu intense benchmark. I used CPU Tuner to apply those values.
When i used the MARSOPA ROM, my back camera didn't worked, so i used it only for a few minutes, until i realized that, so can't tell you that much of differences.

Screen on time isn't tested yet, i will test this tomorrow. If you wonder, what the geekbench 3 score would look like with cpu limited at 403mhz, here you are:
Sorry but i don't know what you want to tell me with "3g connection. If I install a good value ."

I understand that much , but my phone out.

Can you release the slow motion camera and gallery apk?

Thanks a lot! susch19 for this rom.
Actually, I did flash the chinese version rom you mentioned and found it had many bugs. I also tried MaSSopa Rom v5 but the battery drain problem stop me using it. I will try your rom tonight and hope that the battery life just as normal miui rom does.

Deepsleep should work (when it doesn't, just copy the android.policy.jar to system/framework via TWRP or ADB)
Can u be more specific how to do it?
i know how to Flash from TWRP/CWM... but never know how to copy a file via TWRP/CWM...
and one more thing does this ROM have ROOT or i have to flash superSU 2.46?
any help?
Thank before:good:

@nazmi28 sorry for the missunderstanding, my benchmark was with cpu clock Max at 403mhz and not stock 1950mhz. Of I don't throttle my phone, I get around the same results than you, so no performance issue on my rom
@veepe I can upload them later. Did you try them and saw, that they are good or so you want to test them on your rom?
@dep169 I lost 8% over the night (10h). So for me it seems okay. At the moment I test sot with a bit of gaming, chatting and surfing in the web. I will provide screenshots later today.
@Existz161084 you don't have to replace the file. Only if deep sleep doesn't work, but normally it does with my rom. I just flashed the rom and deep sleep worked right out of the box. KingRoot is pre-installed to manage root rights, so if you want supersu, you have to install it by yourself. Sorry for that.

Test this rom few hours ago..
Seems okay for now.. last time i touch my phone about 1 hours ago.. in 8% battery.. now i check again after 1hour still 8%... Not bad.. will check dan review again later after 1 and few days..
DeepSleep seem works mate... but max Freq not working on me... Set 403mhz to 1183mhz powersave gov.. yes in time state says 403% was about 65% so deepsleep work.. but it still sometimes go up to 1950mhz when screen on.. i use CpuFreq in statusbar Module and CPU-Z.
Yep i see kingroot there.... i dont need to flash for root anymore Thanks
Xposed working fine.. gravity box.. amplify etc are working
Vibrate only working on screen touch and volume button... 3hard button still dont have vibrate..
Camera works fine... not Superb.. but it does the job...
auto brightness not to good... yes it change every second that makes the screen like it was blink again n again non stop.
found bugs when 1st boot... it was android keyboard FC that really annoying.. keep pops up about 3-5 second.. Freeze it with titanium and replace with another keyboard problem Fix. (But language and input setting always FC after i'm Freezing Android AOSP keyboard.. new keyboard still works fine just language and input setting that FC..)
but for now in i think i like this ROM.. Thank for your Work Mate! :good:
note: i was on another AOSP ROM before.. and this is slightly better than the old one.. will give another review later.

@Existz161084 try kernel auditor. This works greater for me. The cpu sometimes goes up to 1950mhz, but only during boot and for a second by daily use. Especially at cpu intensive tasks it won't go that high.
Do you have vibrate only on sounds and notification? When yes, then the buttons can't work. You have to set it on general and everything will be fine.
Yeah the auto brightness is very responsive, but it works maybe i can find a way to fix this.
Oh never made a boot without my data wiped, so I have my flexy keyboard always as a standard. I will try to fix this as well.
I like this rom too and just wanted to share my work. The aosp rom was very reliable, but not perfect and for me this rom is nearly perfect. Just hdr and auto brightness could need a fix ^^

Automatic brightness and HD error . marsap rom the same ? What is this ROM to us ? I wonder what will be a plus. What is the use of 3G mobile data screen time ? Can he one picture?

This rom is just a clean aosp rom. No special features, most things work. I don't know what it is like is like compared to other aosp roms, but I tried to make a rom, that fits into my needs and this rom does this perfectly.

Tegra Overclock app and Brightness LG Cutter

Recently an app was launched in Google Play that puts different settings to our Tegra CPU.It's called Tegra Overclock : https://play.google.com/store/apps/...=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS50ZWdyYW92ZXJjbG9jayJd
This app maybe can fix the problem with the brightness cutter problem that many of us who uses 100% brightness have :

I ll run some tests by myself but i would like from all you that can afford to buy this app to run some tests and post your results
The questions that must be answered are the following :
1) The CPU temperature or the Battery temperature makes the brightness cutter to popup ?
2) In which temperature limit does the brightness cutter pop up and lower our brightness to 87% ?
3) Which settings of the Tegra Overclock app can raise up the the default temperature limit to a higher level ?
4) Do these settings produce lags in light or heavy use?
Please run some tests by yourselves as i am going to do and give feedback. This is a very annoying thing in both the Optimus 4X and G phones for all of us who want to have brightness set at 100% all the time.
PS : I know that there is a trick to make the limit higher by doing this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2187017 but it's not a permanent solution as it's changing the files of Tegra Thermal to default values in every restart of the phone.

Tegra overclock can set thermal values at boot, but these only affect CPU speed, the smartdimmer can't be disabled either I tried and the screen goes all messed up

Thank you for your feedback.I spoke to the developer of the app and he is near to find a solution without degrading the performance of the system.
I just wanted to post this here, but @ipred was faster I wanted to ask if anyone has tried this app? Does it really work - I mean, can you control how many CPU cores are fired up at boot ? Can you save some battery with it ?
What are you experience with it?

Yes it works perfectly fine. Im able to adjust GPU clocks (only to what the kernel allows, or it freezes and reboots). I can also force a number of CPUs online so they are constantly being used. Im not so sure of thermal guard though. But all in all I find this app useful for when I want to boost performance in games; it helps.
I have bought and used this app an it works pretty good, once you get the hang of it. The depiction of the changes you made isn't very well showed, but otherwise in my case at least - running stock rom, rooted - I can successfully set CPU speed, force some or all cores online or even use the companion core exclusively, plus I can also increase/decrease GPU speed and SD access speed. All in all, I'm now satisfied with the purchase. The problems, ipred, keeps facing with screen dimming are unknown to me, because I set screen at 40% brightness and so I've never noticed high enough temperatures that impose limitations on screen brightness or performance.
In my O4X (rooted unlocked) wirh stock kernel (and rom) i think even if i change gpu clock, actually doesn't change...i'll try with other kernels (eternity one because is the only one usable with stock rom)

I believe this is because your GPU has not been unlinked from the CPU, meaning your GPU clocks are dependent on CPU clocks. The settings don't stay because the clocks are constantly changing.

No, tegra overclock unlinks, well actually it forces the value. Because of limitations in the kernel no frequency above 416mhz will stick, however on cm10.1 @laufersteppenwolf built a kernel that can do the HTC one x default of 520mhz

So, does tegra overclock make the GPU independent by forcing the values rather than using tweaks?
Just need this to be clarified.

it executes two commands, one that unlinks the GPU from the CPU and the other one that echos the desired clock speeds to the right GPU parameters.

I think you can edit the framework.res.apk to set the stock values higher or lower but dont gamble with it if u dont know exactly what u are doing! To edit them use a tool like virtuos ten studio! You can find it here on xda..

Thanks for your answer but i will wait till Monday as the Tegra Overclock developers answered me this today :
"Alright we have completed the brightness cutter solution module and can upload the update as soon as we make it ready to set on boot BUT we are afraid of piracy as this patch is important one and we saw a hell lot of piracy last week of our app, that's why we reported to you that the patch is ready and we are working on google licensing service. We should be able to upload by Monday if the Piracy protection gets implemented soon"
The update came today and in the release notes it says :
"V1.5.2 MUST CLEAR DATA OR FIRST UNINSTALL APPLICATION AND THEN INSTALL THE UPDATE
***An attempt to eliminate the Brightness problem found in Optimus 4X and G devices. Please refer to EXTRA section of app"
The problem is that i cannot get into EXTRA.Every time i hit the button EXTRA the app is crashing. Before the update i uninstalled and reinstall the app as the notes say.I made a report to the developer and hope that he 'll fix it today.

1.5.4 is the last update published today and unfortunately it does not resolve the brightness cutter problem at least on my phone.
I really can't understand why LG put this brightness cutter ! Would it be more convenient to have included an advice message "Please lower the brightness..." and let users decide instead of lower down the brightness automatically ???? And secondly , why 44 Celsius for CPU and 34 Celsius for the battery are considered so high temperatures????
I wish in the future that a developer will find the source of this brightness cutter activity and remove it, or disable it or shut it off !!!
Is there someone available ( rooted of course ) to execute a command that according to the developers of Tegra Overclock has a lot of chances to disable the brightness cutter? I personally don't have time these days to run tests.
If yes please contact by email ( [email protected] ) the developer of Tegra Overclock ,Rohit Joshi, to tell you the steps.:good:
Finally the problem with the brightness cutter is solved !!! The developers of the Tegra Overclock application managed to create a patch that disallow the cutter to come up.
All you have to do is to download the updated ( 21.06.2013 ) Tegra Oveclock app from Google Play, open it, go to Εxtras, check the box Patch Brightness Cutter LG (ONLY ) and reboot ! The solution is permanent!
For rooted users only.
Many thanks and respect to the developers οf Tegra Overclock

Have you tested the new functionality before writing this post?

[ICS 4.0.4] [ROM] Uma v1 (07/10/2013)

Since a while ago, I've been doing some modifications to all the awesome roms that Huexxx makes for us. In my opinion, his roms are always the best regarding performance, he is the one who brings so much magic to that LG crap we get from stock roms (quite hard to make something good from such a crappy software).
Anyways, we all see he is not having so much time to update his actual rom (yes, IZS), so I decided to put here a zip for you all with all the mods Ive been doing since we got the first IZS.
The magic was brought by Huexxx, he did so much work for free to bring us a stable and fast rom. Please, give him all the thanks you can, because he deserves that and more.

Uma is based on IZS v2, this is not aimed to bring a more stable or more lightning fast version of IZS, this is just IZS with some customizations, such as theming, replaced apps and a couple of easy but good mods.
Screenshots:
How to Install:
- Make your backup
- Wipe data/factory reset
- Wipe dalvik-cache
- Format /system
- Flash the rom zip
- Flash Turbo Boost with the values you want for the swap file (optional)
- Flash another kernel if you want. This pack comes with the stock izs kernel.
#Its always recommended to full wipe and format system. But if you want to flash this over IZS, I think it will cause no problems at all.
Setting up the Rom:
- Go to settings -> developer settings and check "dynamic f-sync", "disable fast dormancy", and the most important, "enable gpu rendering". (I would also use 1x for animations and transitions)
- Open up TricksterMod app, go to general tab. Raise the "Read Ahead Buffer Size" to 512 and change the scheduler to "row". Scroll down and change the cpu governor to "ondemandplus" (these are my preferred settings, you can play with them and choose the oens you like)
- Open up Wifi Auto Turn Off app and press "Enable", now choose the minutes you want the wifi to be on when it doesnt find any connection. (By default if its not connected to anything for 5 mins, it shuts down. Pretty much a battery saver)
Changelog:
v1.0
- CrossBreeder script preinstalled (thanks to idcrisis, drop a thanks in his thread)
- Remapped G-key for camera launch and shot photo
- Remade whole theme into a modded dark holo
- Included brightness bar in notifications
- Tweaked status bar dropdown animation for smoothness
- Removed android error loggers
- Build.prop tweaks for gpu rendering, hardware acceleration, and max_events_per_sec raised to 120
- Updated SuperSU
- Changed default font, wallpaper and bootanimations
- Enabled Live Wallpapers and included Phase Beam
- Lots of apps were removed, and I replaced them mostly with google's alternative to LG crap
- JB 4.3 Keyboard thanks to VLLWP
- DeskClock from cyanogen
- Latest ADW launcher (smoothest ics-like launcher by far)
- Replaced LockScreen with google's default
- Replaced LGBrowser with AOSP browser
- Replaced LGGallery with AOSP gallery
- Inverted Google Play thanks to MyLifeRocks10 (drop a thanks in his thread)
- Replaced file manager with ES file explorer
- Replaced CPU No-Frills with TricksterMOD
- AOSP calculator
- Replaced Walkman app with Apollo (awesome skinnable music player)
- Replaced Sony Notes app with Google Keep
- Deleted some crap I disliked.

Well, as you can see, Im not a developer like Huexxx, so dont expect that I keep updating this so much frequently, but, as I keep learning stuff about android, I may keep doing little things here and there.
Thanks to you guys to keep this phone alive. and really huge thanks to Huexxx for being so awesome

Great work Grakel! Nice to see a ROM with your customizations
There is a problem that I have with IZS, can you look into that? It takes much time to the screen to wake up. Specially when receiving an incoming call.

In an incoming call, you don't see any delay?
For me, it starts the ringtone and I have to wait about 5 seconds to the screen to wake up.

By the way. The incoming call screen, it is the LG version of AOSP? I've flashed your mod but it only changes the lock screen. Not the incoming call screen.

Yeh I see that delay when recieving a call too. The call menus are handled by the dialer afaik, so my mods wont affect it since I didnt touch the dialer except for the theming.
But when waking up device to lockscreen, do you see any improvement on the delay?
I wonder if its cuz the apk's taking so much time to load or its cuz of some parameter inside the rom config. Ill have a look at it, but I dont promise anything, Im not an expert, and if huexxx didnt fix this already...

I belive it is the ROM it self. IZS v1 didn't had this much delay...
Does it happen if you use izsv2 with izsv1.1 kernel?

I didn't test that. The IZS v1.1 kernel doesn't have swap, and for me, that is a performance breaker
---------- Post added at 10:20 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:58 AM ----------
Maybe building the IZS v1.1 kernel with swaps?
Its great to see a new rom for p970,i will not flash cause i prefer izs theming, although trasmusics theming was my favorite,i have to say that im using roehsoft ram expander with 300 mb swap and i see really a difference, like playing games before crashed without even starting,at least use turbo boost, now i must ask is there a way to make oc kernel to work for all p970s,it just starts and stucks on the screen that counts up the apps.

That problem isnt related to the kernel or the software... Oc is just a matter of hardware afaik, it works perfectly fine in my phone.
thnx man i'll try it out :good:
i've been waiting for a new ROM for months at least a themed ROM xD
(sorry for my bad english if there is any mistake)
Hi all, i flashed this rom (theme (- yesterday and it works quite well. Only two things i have to mention:
The "Wifi Auto Turn Off app" doesn't work for me, i use "Green Power" to turn the WiFi on and off
The contact.apk, especially when you are scrolling through the contact list (at the right) by the character list ist stuttering every time, stops for a second and once the app crashes totally
Anyone with the same probs or a solution?
Cheers

Huhmmm.. strange, wifi auto turn off is working pretty nice here.
And about that contacts scrolling... I think I got it fixed, it is something related to the background png. Im now working on making settings/dialer semi-transparent, and putting a hex code instead of a png for the background seems to fix that bug you say =)
Is there anyway to make iy look like a greenish theme? Somehow with a Samsung touch. I don't kinda like yhe white holo theme though. Awesome ROM btw

You would have to decompile systemUI and lge-res and photoshop everything to green. Thats making a theme
If anyone is interested on making a theme, you can ask me anything and Ill gladly help.

[HOW TO] Battery Saving Tips for Us - [UPDATED] 11/15/2016

Hey folks, been awhile since I started a thread so....
So, I got my G4 about a month and a half ago, and instantly noticed how horrible the stock battery performed in terms of life. I was lucky to get 17hrs with 2 hrs of S.O.T. on a full charge.
So, of course i started looking into options to get better life... I installed XPosed, with Greenify and Amplify, and it really wasnt enough.
I started looking into the kernel, with Kernel Audiutor, and noticed something. No real HotPlugging, so all cores seemed to stay online at all times. Now, I did try a couple custom kernels, and even those did not seem to have a viable hotplugging solution implemented.... I took the next steps I could to achieve what I was starting to think was impossible.... 28hr battery life, with the same 2 hour SOT... and here is how I achieved it
#1 Root your device
#2 Install the attached Zip
#3 Open up Terminal, or ADB SHELL, and run one of the following
Code:
# To turn it on
echo 1 > /data/data/kevshotplug
Code:
# To turn it off
echo 0 > /data/data/kevshotplug
This runs in the background, so you can do this on the fly. The script will check the display state and apply the "hotplug" accordingly, I also have created some basic profiles for some of the more common governors we have available to us.
Get Rid of LOGD
- - - Copy /system/bin/logd and paste it to your sdcard
- - - Delete /system/bin/logd
Use Common Sense for Your Services
- - - This is all personal preference... but I don't see a need to have my location services on while I am home, or really anywhere else where I know where I am... so turn it off when you can
- - - On the road? Is there a real reason why you NEED to have WiFi still on?
That should do it folks... try and let me know your results, tips, tricks, etc....

HOW TO USE dp
Open Terminal or adb shell
Type In:
Code:
su
dp
- dp is not needed if you do not feel like using it... it's 10KB in size, so leaving it does no harm. kevshotplug is exacty like in OP above... except I also threw it in the menu... yes, I saw the error, no, it has no effect on it what-so-ever.
- - - I have found that min frequency does not seem to stick when using interactive governor... just a fair warning
Thanks for this tutorial! I do have a question however.
When the screen is off, do you still get notifications as normal? I have android wear and android auto and want to make sure that I don't lose the functionality of these when the screen turns off. Additionally, does listening to music with the screen off work as it should?
Thanks

the only time an active profile will show is if there is a continously running profile. since these run once during the 2 events they officially arent xontinuing to run.
one way you can confirm... plug it into your pc... run adb shell... the su... then do a cat in one of the "online" files.
with screen off it should show 0... with screen on it should show 1

aye 6. we have to keep at least 1 core online... otherwise the phone would be completely unusable (tried it... had to kdz back to stock)
also... if you dont mind losing a bit of battery savings... dont turn off core4

question.... am a bit confused with core naming... sometimes cores are named like this
core0
core1
core2
core3
core4
core5
they are 6 cores on kernele auditour mod. they are named bigcore 1-2 small cores 1-2-3-4
so my question is how are they exactly named.?
like you live only core1 online.. but when i check core 1 is on after screen off both big and samll are on.. as they show in cpu both are named 1.. is it possible to leave online core 0 wich is the first core on small cores.. LOL i hope i make sense.. iwant to know is it possible to leave online only 1 small core. and rest including bigs off.
core numbering starts at 0

so you think phone would operate okey only if core0 this beign first small core is online, while all other cores are off. i think it should.. and maybe faster charge since only one core is online... with your profile both small and big are online.. what would i need to make small online only. too much complicated for me. this will also improve standby time.

Nokia 7 Plus Indian Variant Issues

Now, I bought the device on the sale date ie. 30th April and the phone got delievered just the next day. I'm running on the Android 8.1 update with April Security patch as of writing this. From the start I've noticed some issues and lags here and there. They are as follows:
Swiping left on the launcher to get to the Google Now page (the default launcher that is the Launcher 3) and also on the Pixel Launcher 3 is very jittery and you can feel and see the lag.
The keyboard (Gboard) is also not that fluid and very very rarely it misses out on some letters of the words that I'm typing.
In Instagram, swiping for story is again very jittery.
The whole Snapchat app is super jittery.
Considering that this is an Android One device and running on Higher Mid-Range Processor ie. Snap 660, this is not expected in any way.
Camera is fine for me and some have also complained about the Bluetooth which I have not yet tested. Audio quality through the speakers and also through the headphone jack is superb. Battery is also very good. Getting 7+ hrs of Screen on time in a day's usage and around 5.5-6.5 in two day's usage. Also Google camera is working fine just download and install Gcam Tool app from the PlayStore so as to transfer and save the photos directly in the default Camera folder only.
Please let me know if you also are having the same issues and if there's any fix for them. I think Nokia will have to only push out an update to improve the overall optimization of the device.

Yeah. That's clearly optimization issues. Everyone's talking about these stutters and lags. Do tell about these stutters and lags to Nokia customer care so that they can fix them in next update. I am particularly worried about the audio quality through the headphone jack. Will get my device tomorrow.

Google cam doesn't need root. There are many versions on the net. There's also a thread about the Google cam.

I remember reading in Pixel Launcher thread that recent changes in google app is causing inconsistent performance in launchers. I think we have to wait till google fix it or some workaround.
Apart from that I have not noticed other above mentioned issues in my device, so can't comment.
One issue that I am annoyed with is Headset Inline Controls not working while phone being locked. I am using PowerAmp and in-built settings are set correctly. I was not facing this issue on my previous device, so this seems to be device related issue.
If anybody knows any workaround please comment.

You should have received an update the moment you connected the phone to internet.
Stock android doesn't support system wide dark theme that can be turned on or off manually.
You can always use a 3rd party launcher. [emoji16]

I guess the phone needs time to settle down because we immediately load apps and every app instantly starts taking up ram. After sometime, the android system starts managing the system as to which apps need to be in background and which apps need to be killed based on our usage.
Also, initially the apps have to build up cache and that adds to lags.
I am using stock Android from an OEM for the first time and I am amazed with the smoothness of the UI. It just flows. Also, the vibration on this device is better than any other device I have used.
Also, regarding sound quality through jack, I don't know why people are bashing it. Probably, they don't know that the phone has an equalizer too which is turned off by default.

Used audio through a Bluetooth device (car Bluetooth) and of works just fine. Informing because I had read online on some other forums about the audio coming out through Bluetooth connection is breaking or muffled. But, on my device it is absolutely fine.

Why I will stay in MIUI 10.3.5 Global Rom instead of custom roms [My experience]

Hi people, after testing a couple of custom roms in the search for better performance I have figured out that the official MIUI rom is the best in performance, stability and battery management. (With some tweaks)
First tested the crDroid rom posted here. It is beautiful, simple, lighweight, the first time I flashed it I made the mistake of enabling aditional protection with pattern, then everytime it booted started of asking for pattern before boot (taking more time), getting slow, it crashed once, reflashed, didn't activated the aditional protection and everything worked good, only the proximity sensor where not working, the performance in UI was great, but gaming it didn't.
Second I tested Bootleggers ROM posted here. It's beautiful too, even more, the splash screen after logo is amazing, in my experience it works better than crDroids, all features worked as intended, very fluid UI, face unlock didn't work as in crDroids, voice match did it, but in gaming it was the same, the performance where not as good as it is in MIUI.
Some things to take into account:
-I flashed both of them with Open Gapps Nano from here used ARM64, Android 9, nano, it
worked better than the pico included in both posts because with pico voice match was not working.
-In both roms flashed Evira Kenerl 1.9, maybe isn't compatible with crDroids rom and because of that the proximity sensor where
not working, in Bootleggers rom Evira Kernel 1.5 is included, so there doesn't should be any compatibility issue.
-The game that I tested in both was PUBG Mobile, any of them played it in full screen mode (the notch bar), in MIUI it is played in
full screen mode.
-I use MIUI Global 10.3.5 debloated with Saki/EU tool from here and Evira Kernel 1.9, no battery savers from Magisk
What I saw is that the battery performance is almost the same in any of them, the system performance is fluid in any of them, including MIUI, but games performance is better in MIUI, there are no bugs (for what I know), face unlock works great, the fingerprint recognition in MIUI is better, stock camera offers manual mode, Gcam port from BSG is the best one and works perfect in the roms that I tested, and the most important thing that I noted is that the RAM usage in the three roms is almost the same, in MIUI I get 2+ GB of free RAM as in the custom roms.
So, because all of this my conclusion is that for now is better to stay in MIUI, it has OTA updates, is stable, bug free, and performs really great, even better in games in my experience.
Thanks.

thanks for sharing your experience!
right now, I haven't root my phone yet. based on your experience, I think I won't root my phone (at least until there's the most stable & efficient rom or until the warranty period expires).
you said that you use evira kernel. so, is it worth it to root my phone just for this kernel?
(sorry for my bad english)

Well, if you unlock your bootloader the warranty will be void, if you decide to do it I recommend you to root your phone with this guide from HERE, with root you can use Adaway for blocking all ads in your mobile, in any way Magisk is required to flash Evira Kernel, and it worth the proccess, the battery will last longer and the performance can be improved; is up to you.

Yup bro if you need your phone for gaming then it's always a basic rule “Custom ROMS are not made for gaming”
Which means you better stick with the stock rom for the full gaming experience
But doesn't it bother you that you don't see notifications in your status bar and lockscreen?
This is the only reason that made me switch to custom roms..

I am on MIUI 10.4 by xiaomi.eu 9.5.16 Beta and I see every notification on my lockscreen, when I allow them to be seen in App settings. On status bar see like 3-4 icons, but you can add priority to the notification icons, so it's not problem at all. Why is everybody saying that you can't see notifications?
When I was on MIUI Global 10.3 (before unlock timer expired) I could also see all of my notifications.

you can use this recovery..
https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...overy-unofficial-twrp-touch-recovery-t3921637
But if you love your rn7's camera then don't use any of the custom or miui based custom roms... Camera performance is always better in the stock rom.
What I did was, after trying every other roms I've switched back to the stock china rom, flashed magisk and used titanium backup (paid v) app to debloat the rom of useless apps.
I've also tried the global rom but found the china roms camera performance to be superior.

Settings - Notification & status bar - App notifications - Your app - Notification categories - Your category - Importance - Set on HIGH from Default/Low/Minimal
This also (from my experience) sorts the icons on the status bar, so apps with higher "importance" are shown in the situation, in which you have too many notification icons.
My impressions
Hello everyone
I Just bought a Redimi Note 7 after a quite long time using Samsung S8.
There is a couple thing really bothering me like
The swipe up opening google search.
I can't sort the apps alphabetically (really sucks)
The camera seems to be a little too dark (like the default cfg needs a tweak)
Infinite screen seems to be in conflict with the swipe up google search thing.
I got a couple of photos to compare the stock camera from the S8 and the Redmi
But the forum anti span wont let me

Hi, it works pefect at 1.9 version, for better battery I use alucardsched for CPU governors and zen for I/O scheduler, you should disable fsync in miscellaneous, I did it and no problem at all, it improves a lot the performance for wiriting/reading process in ROM.

Use another launcher, lawnchair for example and you solve the two first "problem"

Can you show me some screenshots of notifications like Facebook or Whatsapp on your status bar?
Just a quick tip and a call for help lol
If you face issues using Android auto + Waze and Xiaomi devices .
Set the power saving settings to no restrictions o both Android auto and Waze.
Go to app management and select the app to do It.
The problem I'm having now is .
When I receive an audio on WhatsApp I click play it starts playing on the speaker but it do not transfer to the ear speaker when I bring it close to my face .
Anyone knows how to fix it ?

Thanks. I don't have it, I just got MIUI 10.3.3.0 EU. This importance thing must be a MIUI 10.4 feature.
Very good write up. I'm sure there are many people who are sticking with stock rom for now with same/similar experiences or reasons. I'm one of them.
What app should I debloat??
