Can't send/receive SMS from stock conversations app after root - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have rooted my Sony Xperia Z3 Compact yesterday. I have also installed Xposed framework and GravityBox. I'm using pre-rooted D5803_23.4.A.1.232_R5C_Central Europe 1 Generic_1288-7915 FTF.
My problem is that I can't send and receive SMS message on stock Conversations app. When I send message, I get floating popup 'Can't send message'. In another apps like Hangouts etc, everything works fine.
Does anyone know what can I do, beside changing sms app to another?
UPDATE:
Only Hangouts allows me to send and receive sms

I have the same issue, only Hangouts works as an SMS app, nothing else... any solutions?

I almost always have this problem when I flash clean pre-rooted FW and start using the phone for the first time.
Simple solution - hard reset using settings. The problem immediately disappears

Where is that option? Are you talking about factory resetting the phone?
I can't find a hard reset option in any settings, you have to be more specific please :crying:

Yes, writing hard reset I meant factory resetting the phone, I just couldn't find a proper words

Oh boy this is messed up.
Will I loose root after that?
And will I have to do it every time I update my phone with a pre-rooted FW?

Did you managed to fix this issue with factory reset? Did you lost root access?

It was an issue on the very first version of MM that the phone (APN) settings weren't updating, but it's been fixed long ago.
The latest version is now 23.5.A.1.238

Hi guys I need some help. I just wiped my phone and restored it back to factory and I'm getting

everytime my phone boots up. This happened as soon as it booted up right after I reset it and it's happening every single time now. It happens EVERY boot, exactly 2 times. It will freeze up my lock/home screen temporarily and give me the error message. After it displays it twice then everything goes back to normal working order and I am able to make phone calls etc.
I do think I f'd up somewhere messing with xposed installer and the wanam module. My phone would go into boot loops when I had it previously set up so this is why I reset it.
It IS rooted. Factory kernel/rom (I don't think it's possible to change them at this moment but please correct me if I'm wrong.) I tried wiping cache and still nothing. Everything in Titanium backup is defrosted meaning its all there except for the things that I uninstalled on my last setup but I was caeful not to remove anything important (only At&t bloatware). Also I did have 'App Ops X' installed and it's installed now.
So please help if you can and thanks in advance.
Fixed!!!
Not sure how exactly but I went into Titanium Backup and disabled a bunch of things that I wouldn't use. I get no errors now. Might be disabling of the 'Knox' that fixed it, who knows.
Thanks for the update,
I wasn't receiving this everytime like you were but I was getting it every so often. I tried using Titanium Backup to freeze some unwanted crap also and I haven't seen the Error since.
Don't know what we got rid of but it works lol

Hi,
I can barely remember but I did remove Samsung Knox and everything with 'knox' in it. I would freeze a few things at a time that you don't think you need and keep rebooting until it's fixed. I went through many trial and errors until I finally got it 100% working.

Phone not always staying rooted?

Sorry if this is a very noobish question, but I've done a pretty good amount of searching and haven't found anything. Every once in a while when I check an app like WakeLock Detector or browse Xposed modules my phone will tell me that I am not rooted. I use root checker just to double check and it confirms this. Upon reset my phone will 'go back' to being rooted. I've done a factory reset and rooted again but was still getting the same problem. Has anyone else encountered this problem?
I'm on a Sprint HTC One with 4.4.2 for the record.
To any mods: sorry if this is in the wrong place, feel free to move it or let me know where to correctly post it.

Supersu. Although I might have figured out the problem.
For some reason the binaries weren't updating correctly so I just did a clean install of it again and that seems to have done the trick. I'll update in a few days if the problem's gone away for good.

Hi, i've got the same problem, i have just re-flash with Flashtool the firmawre " C6903_14.3.A.0.757_Stripped.ftf " and its never ask me again,
if that help you.
please explain further what you do, are you re-flash all firmware, or only "C6903_14.3.A.0.757_Stripped.ftf", do you wipe data or only wipe cache/dalvik cache?

That's normal, it's because PCC checks the customization stored in the TA instead of the one in the rom.

[Q] Remove Xperia system update notification?

I'm getting this notification about the system update, and it is persistent.
I've tried checking the box "do not remind me about this update " and restarting several times.
I do not wish to update, in case a root method comes out for the old fw version.
So how do I remove this notification?
Go to Settings>Apps>All>Update Center
And untick show notifications. Hope it works for you

For a weary traveler with the same problem this is what I did: I am rooted and installed titanium backup. open titanium backup, search for update and wipe data for update service 1.0 and software update. Then freeze both apps and you will not have any problem with the install file downloading. Hope that helps.
How can I disable the update notification on my Z5 Compact running 5.1, I don't want to go to Marshmallow
and this update at the top has been there for ever
Thanks

I've no data atm on the handset, do you mean using Titanium backup ?
If so i'll need to wait until Thursday until my data is renewed, I was hoping on 5.1 there was a setting I could change as this is an old thread

The advice for Titanium is a load of Tosh, never did nothing
Anyone got any other ideas, i've had 2 system updates stuck on the Z5 compact for 2 weeks lol

this worked for me, no root, you have to hide com.sonyericsson.updatecenter
adb shell
pm hide com.sonyericsson.updatecenter
exit
adb reboot
There is no update center in L.
You can close the permanent notification with force stopping Software Update app in Settings/All.

I have a rooted xperia z5 compact and this worked for me!
Try this:
About:1.You can use the Notify Block
2.In the presence of rooting:
2.1. Using the application ® Root Explorer (File Manager), follow the path: system/priv-ap/UpdateCenter/ and delete UpdateCenter.apk
2.2. Using the application ® Titanium Backup remove\freeze "software Update".
The first reply mentions Settings -> Apps -> All, but there is NO "All", so that suggestion does not help.

Update to OOS 5.0 - Can't answer calls, dialer green/red swipe not appearing

As title says, I just upgraded to Oreo with OTA and I can't answer calls.
I can hear the phone ringing but nothing is displayed to accept/refuse the call.
I also tried using Google Dialer as a replacemente but nothing appears there too.
Dialer is present in the apps, and I can use it normally if opened. But even if I start a call from there I can't close it because the screen with the running call (the one with image and bottom keys for speakers, etc) is not appearing at all.
Phone is rooted with Magisk and TWRP.
Keeping your data intact please try to flash the full OOS 5.0 rom. OTA update might have screwed the system.

I tried again with Google Dialer and it's working. So it's a problem with stock dialer. Can anyone send me the stock dialer APK from OOS 5?
Are you by any chance using the 'Enable Native Call Recording' module in magisk? If yes, then get rid of that.

No, I knew that already. I only have the default ones that come with magisk (auto_mount, system, module.prop, update).
I think I just need to reinstall the stock dialer, but can't find the APK and I don't know how to extract it from the full zip system image.
I'll keep the google dialer in the meantime.

Try to clear dialer data. It same as reinstall
Im having the same issue, so let me know if you figure out the solution.
No problems should be there after upgrade.
This shows a problematic Oreo setup.
Better have a factory reset so all apps will be installed correctly.

I'm having the same problem and have enabled call recording using magisk. I tried upgrading to 5.0.2 and still the same. Please advice.
