EngineerMode Huawei p8 - Huawei P8 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi guys, so i was trying to look around for the secret menu aka "EngineerMode" for our device but it seems there is no code so far that can let you access it instead it seems they replaced it with "ProjectMenu" the old menu had a lot of tools such the ability to change the Audio settings and many other tools instead with the ProjectMenu you get access to more detailed information about your device also whether your sim is locked and you also can change the UI theme color from white to black and from black to white and many other info.
To enter to it insert the following code: *#*# 2846579#*#*

Good find. The UI theme change does not work for me though... Do I have to rebrand the phone and update before I can have access to change the UI color?

good point, doesn t work for me either

The color change doesn't work for me either, but in some Chinese forums I saw the white colour option. I think maybe it's dependent on the theme used by the phone the default themes that comes with the phone have only black color option.

Maybe... Tried with a few themes and no change. I like the light background more so it would be nice. Maybe we can get a CM/Stock ROM soon. Hopefully the community will grow and someone will be able too cook up something good.

Does anyone know anything further about engineering/secret access codes for Huawei/EMUI devices? I'm particularly looking for the cell network status info (normally *#0011# on Samsung) and RF Band selector (normally *#2263#). Anyone have any idea on how to get these menus on a Huawei phone? Desperate here!

The password is a long numer you get when recuesting the Bootloader unlocked with the Manufacturer.
Still, i tried that with no luck, it just says key correct, but nothing else happens, Engineering menu still " projectMenu "

Does anybody found the right code?
I really need my volume settings.

There is no such thing as Engineering mode on this phone because it's not using a Mediatek chip.
To change volume settings you need root. The files you have to modify can be found on /system/etc/audio/hi6402 and are named mixer_volumes_default.xml and mixer_volumes_GRACE_xxx depending on your variant.

Network band
Not sure if this is possible or if I am being dumb but is there any way to unlock network bands or does it depend on hardware? If so which secret code shows you network bands settings?

Maybe you also need to set true
Code:
ro.config.hw_menu_extend
.
It's written in ProjectMenuReceiver.java [decompiled from ProjectMenu.apk v2.00.003] but it doesn't work.

Access engineering mode for GSM/GPRS radio

I came across this while browsing the registry on my Wizard
Enter the following in the dialpad as if it were a phone number:
*#*#364#*#*
You will access an engineering page which shows the cell tower you're connected to, and a whole lot of other radio-related info.
It does'nt work on mine.
Juste type *#*#364#*#* and press talk ?
But, you can activate it, by launching \windows\GSMTestMode.exe
Running on WM6
You have to enable it from the registry too using most ROMs.
Worked for me... Kind of cool...
I noticed the RSSI on "neighboring cell information" Does anyone know how to actually get a real dbm signal level?
-Padawan
G3 Wiz100
Request
can someone up the .exe and tell me which registry key to change
Didn't need the exe or do any reg editing for it to work here...
Just key in the # sequence as you would dial a #.
Just my .02c.

You must make sure that "HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\EngineerMode\BuildInEngineeringModeApp" is set to "1"
TestMode / EngineerMode in HTC HD
I am very interested in this kind of functionality.
I have try dialing *#*#364#*#* but it does not work on HTC HD.
The \windows\GSMTestMode.exe is not in HTC HD
I could not find either the key "HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\EngineerMode\BuildInEngineering ModeApp".
Does anyone know how to activate it in HTC HD or an third party application?
so what
after change something in registry you have to make a soft-reset
it works but i can't do anything in this menus
atmospherico, do you mean it works for you in a HTC HD?
what was the way you use?
You were talking about changes in the registry but, at least in my HTC HD, there is no "HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\EngineerMode\BuildInEnginee ring ModeApp" key. How did you manage it?
You just have change with regedit the "BuildInEngineeringModeApp" Key to "1" in HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\EngineerMode\ than You just make a soft reset and type *#*#364#*#* (you can change it also with regedit) in your phonepad
but you can only look to the parameters its not possible to change it
it works with my wizzard an the CR86_Touch_HD_1.6_Fixed rom
I tested with the latest official ROM and it does nor work. I created the key and reset but at dialing I just get an error message from the operator

Phone settings - More - Fixed Dialing

Sorry, lost my manual for the Topaz.
Under Phone settings - More I see an entry called Fixed Dialing? Wondering what it is good for. It is grayed out, so I cannot change anything.

But thank you for the tip. Found the manual on HTC website, but Fixed Dialing is not listed.
FDN
it's a sim service that alow you to make a list of the number that you want the phone to be able to call.
ie: you buy a phone for your kid and you want him to be able to call only you and his mom, well enter both number in the FDN, though you'll have to protect it entering your pin otherwise anyone would be able to add any number. on mine it is not greyed out, i am using xtreme 6MJ. but it might be dependent of the sim, some may not offer this service
cheers

Hidden menus in Android for Milestone

Hi there found two hidden menus on the web.
One is called Testing which can be accessed by typing *#*#4636#*#* in your dialer. This link has some more info on it. Are there any useful tweaks we can apply here?
The other menu can be accessed by typing ##7764726 (##program) followed by the dial button (green telephone) Then you get in a menu called security where you have to fill in a SPC password. In the youtube movie (for the droid) it states that should be 000000. For the Milestone it is different. Since I don't know what it is I cannot get further in the menu and test other settings. Anyone knows how to obtain the SPC code, my phone is not simlocked. In the youtube movie you can see the contents of the menu.
Would love to try some settings to improve my call quality since I get a lot of complaints that they don't hear me clearly during calls.

[Q] Changing the default Country code that gets appended to phone numbers

Hi All,
I got a Droid turbo imported (couldn't get ballistic nylon version . Yippee upgraded to Ballistic Nylon. ) to India. Started using it from yesterday.
One annoying thing is that if I dial a number without a country code it automatically appends +1(U.S) country code to the number. How do I change this?
TIA,
Nithin
Got this figured out.
Call Settings > Assisted Dialing > Reference Country
1. Press and hold the country you want to set it to
2. You will get an option of "change reference", "View details"
3. Click on "Change Reference"
4. Hit back until you exit.
You are good to go.
