[KERNEL] [M] [3.4.0] YaYPrime-M R3 - Nexus 4 Android Development

YaYPrime is based on the oficial 3.4.0 mr1.1 kernel from google, with the commits needed to run in android 6.0.

Installation:
If you come from another kernel:
- Reboot in recovery mode
- Dirty-flash the rom you are using (without wipes)
- Flash kernel
If you come from a previous version:
- Reboot in recovery mode
- Flash kernel
(If you find something weird, wipe dalvik/cache)
To configure the kernel I recommend using kernel auditor.
Thanks: @hellsgod (kernel base), Google, Uber, @txuki2005, @serbalabari, @mrraine, @CallMeAldy, @zaclimon, @Flashhhh, @hurtsky, @franciscofranco, @faux123, @stratosk, @neobuddy89, @dorimanx, @osm0sis (anykernel2), and all the people that contribute with their commits.

Just try "hellsactive" and see for yourself what smoothness really looks like.

Not looking for smoothness - Looking for a good battery and performance balance. The best Governor I've found for that is zzmove with ybat as the profile number, and not a single kernel for mako includes zzmove

Nice kernel man been running for 24 hours now using hellsactive profile working very well.
Tapped from my marshmako

Looking impressive. Working gr8 till now.. Keep up the good work.

Maybe I will include smartmax from ak kernel in the next release

@yaymalaga is it safe to flash directly coming from hellscore b85? For some reason I can only dirty flash if I wipe system also and flash rom + Gapps.

I was ready to ask same think.
Also, for me, settings in 'init.yayprime' does not alter kernel's settings

What rom are you using?
About the unknown name, my bad. I'm looking for what causes the name not to be shown

Cataclysm MM (Nexus 4)

Not a bad kernel, but problem that I have is after some time, videos just stop playing, have to reboot my phone to make them work, didn't happen on stock kernel, using franks 6.0 latest build

Performance is solid with this kernel for me. Nice kernel!
Can we have halfbreed color as default in the next build? The washed out colors are burning my eyes lol

Use Synapse or Kernel Auditor or any other kernel tweakers, you can change the colors from the app.

This kernel has USB otg support or not? I've installed synapse and kernel adiutor and didn't found any way to enable USB otg.
I'm using it with pure ROM.

I know that. What I actually meant is the gamma colors that is included within the kernel. That way, it will apply all accross the phone.
If you just change it with an app, it will not apply to recovery and all other things before booting android. That's quite a big deal for me.

Well I haven't tested by myself in this rom, but maybe it is using cm performance profile which change the governor configs

I have had the same problem using other kernels, so I think that it's not the kernel fault

I think that it does not (we are basing on hellscore kernel right now), but in the near future I will enable it when M kernels manage to adapt it.

Sorry, but we are using the google's default gamma, so it will be the default one
Btw, I pretty busy with real life and studies, but I'm looking to change to another base with even more optimizations, when I have time I will do some tests

(Note: I don't wanna be rude, I just want to keep this thread clean...)
Q: What settings do you recommend? What governor? What IO Scheduler?
A: I recommend the default settings. This is why it there by default!

Q: My phone as rebooted on its own or is stuck on a reboot loop.
A: There are 3 reason why your phone may reboot on its own:
1. Your phone does not handle the Undervolt of the kernel
Flash the stock voltage add-on. (NO I will not make the kernel with stock voltage by default)
2. Your phone cannot handle the Overclock of the kernel
Use another kernel, Sorry...
3. There is a bug in the kernel and I should fix it:
Post the /proc/last_kmsg output as a ZIP in the thread. BUT, before posting make sure the last_kmsg contains the mention "Kernel panic", if not, don't bother posting this because your problem is related to point 1 or 2...A kernel Panic looks like this:

Q: Why did you remove feature X?
A: Because I think it sucks
* This is my personal opinion and I am allowed to have it

Q: Can you add feature X?
A: Depends. Before asking that question, check the changelog.
If it was removed, NO.
* If you have a really good reason why you think a feature should come back from the dead, you can defend your case by PM.
If it's a new feature that I may not know about, just let me know of the feature and I'll consider it.
If its a new shinny CPU governor or IO scheduler, NO the ones that will remain do the job perfectly...

Is the function home2 wake available on your kernel?
You didn't mention which variant it's for.
Does it work on XT1033 with networks?

As it's based on CM11 it should support all variants CM support, so yes, it should.
But as I own an xt1032 I haven't tested, and I'm not familiar with any 1033 specific bugs the CM11 base has.
I'd appreciate your feedback, please.

First, THANKS (I'm gonna cry) for reporting your problem with a logcat and dmesg - lol.
It doesn't look like kernel related, and since Feyerabend got it working, it mustn't be. Try with a fresh & clean install (specially if you've been flashing other kernels, or stuff).

Man I tried a clean flash and wifi still doesn't turn on haha. Wonder what's causing the problem (for me at least)
(by clean flash I mean clean for new rom via philz, and flashing crdroid, after that flashing the kernel, and then rebooting)
Just flashed it, EVERYTHING works beautifully - WiFi, camera, network - EVERYTHING.
Thanks a lot Mr. Dev

Thanks for this! Been waiting for a better kernel.
Questions:
- Does it make double-tap-to-wake faster?
- Does it solve the delayed notifications problem?
- Will it bring about world peace?

Bad and Boujee. Nice.
Other than selecting the max overclock values, do you have any recommended kernel settings to get the best from the phone & kernel? Thanks
I'm going to guess it doesn't work with cm13?
It'd be pretty cool if it did, but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't.
Im on A2017G and for me Sound work. But Gpu not OC for me it show 624 MHz not 652MHz.Can we change it via Kernel Auditor??

It's left at its stock values. You'll need to specify the overclock, the step is enabled but not selected by default. I use Kernel Auditor with SuperSU and BusyBox to modify the settings, and so far it's worked just fine.

Why would you need a version without overclocking when overclocking isn't enabled by default?

After clearing the Dalvik/cache, my device is constantly warm. I've set low frequencies on the big and little cores with the interactive governor.
Using RR 6.1.0 if that helps
