Why not?
is there no way of enabling the LED and using it for notifications?
I would prefer LED instead of the moto active display turning on whenever the phone gets moved even by a little bit.

There is no color or blink ability though. Just turns on white.

Really? What kind rom you were using? Because last time I used rom and led were not able to activate even with this root app.

I am using the cm12.1 rom from the dev thread
but I know that AICP also has them.

wrong thread?

lol

I found that I can't stand Moto Display.
If I even look at my phone wrong, the dang display turns on.
For some reason I just can't handle that.
AICP custom ROM does indeed use the LED to notify you of notifications. It goes to a solid (not blinking) white.
Would be nice if we could get different colors.
And I don't mind the solid LED, but blinking would have been nicer.

It's impossible because device's led is only white. It's not RGB led.

haha, I blame it on net10

Sounds like you have "Approach for Moto Display" on?? Try disabling that and seeing how it goes ... Then the display will only come on with notifications and movement.

Notification led dimmer

Hello,
Does anyone knows how to dimm led during charge. It looks nice and fun but not when I charge next to my bed, it feels like bedside lamp still on
I have look around and most of mods is to make notification led to light brighter or not working on our phone.
I tried to follow those forums but no luck.

[Q] LED light on Purple Z1 less bright than White Z1????

I have bought two (one for myself and one for my wife) in Sony Store Shanghai.
Everythings works fine, but I just discovered that the LED notifcation light on the WHITE version is brigther than the PURPLE version:

White has STOCK CN 534 firmware with ROOT, Purple has STOCK TW 534 firmware wth Root.
(The screen on the TW version (purple) is more blue-ish on white screens, while CN version (white) is more yellow-ish on white screens.)
I dont' get it, is CN LED brigther than TW LED??? That wouldnt make sense right?
Or is it really that Purple just have a DIMMER LED light than the white?
Any devs can help confirm? Any chance for me to make the LED brigther with my Root wthout having too much trouble???~~~
Perhaps as simple as the white case reflect light better than the purple?
My black Z1 has also some kind of dim light I suppose... (i have not had any change to compare)

Same here... Black one has very dimm notification light.. Try Lightflow its an app that controls LED lights so should be able to increase the brightness of the light... You will have to buy it though!

I see. looks like its only the WHITE has best light, due to best reflection (white)..
I Tried lightflow and light manager, but none of them can really increase the brightness.
Its ok, not a big deal, just a small detail which doesnt have influence during daily use~

Nice Night Clock or Always On Watch Face

I started using this for my night table when charging at night. I'm not too sure how it would do with battery life if you use it as a watchface but I'm planning on testing it.
It has great brightness options. You can dim it for night use by swiping gently down or raise the brightness by swiping up. The little details in the lighting are nice. When you dim the brightness you see the shadows of the digits and days of the week. The disappear when you fully brighten it.

I agree, that will probably be a problem.
I had a Galaxy S3 that burned in badly after leaving it lit all night for a few months on a nightstand.

I was wondering about this too. My wife's phone which is a fairly recent moto model had terrible burn-in just from basic use. You can see her homescreen apps pretty clearly.

Toast notifications

I have been seeing a lot of talk about these "toast" notifications.
Does the moto x have these? If so where?
Its my understanding that they ate like a banner at the top of the screen. But my notifications only show on the bar.
Slapped the sh*t out of my X
They are the notifications that come up on bottom, it fades in to black with a minor transparency and shows a small message then fades out

On the moto x? I have never seen one. Do you have to enable it? Are there only certain things it happens on?

Try creating an email and press home before sending it, you'll see a message come up on bottom saying something like "Message saved as draft". That's a toast message...

Somewhat relevant, Buttered Toast is an Xposed module that can add the application name to the toast messages if you don't know where they are coming from.

I've not used it personally, but I saw it somewhere recently (Lifehacker, I think).

[Q] moto x 2014 led notification?

i've heard a lot about the new moto x 2014.But nowhere it is mentioned that it has an LED notification light! So does the new moto x 2014 has an LED notification unlike it's older version?
No
In the past there have been apps that light up a section of an am led screen a color associated with a notification.

The original actually did have a LED hidden in the speaker grill. It typically will light up if your batter is super dead and it can't even turn the screen on to show you the charging screen.
Yes, the New Moto X have a green led hidden.

LIghts up when your battery is so low that it can't turn on the screen to notify you.

I created a script for this function and put it in init.d folder (only works with root)
With this command, the green led turns on only when the battery is charging and turns off when charging is complete.
echo battery-charging > /sys/class/leds/charging/trigger;

Dude, the bottom ones aren't LEDs. They're IR sensors that bleed red into the visible spectrum.
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/general/howto-notification-led-moto-x-2-2014-t3045492 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/general/notification-light-moto-x-2014-t3007091
if u have ir night vision goggles you can use it as a notification led, sorry for the joke
