Interesting screen color mod from chainfire CF.lumen v3.16 - Nexus 6P Themes and Apps

Thought this display App may interest some.
[APP][4.4+][2015.10.28] CF.lumen v3.16
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2711912

Doesn't work for me. I even tried 3.00 because 3.16 didn't work on my G4 either.

Works fine, although I prefer the ease-of-use of Dimly (same non-root operating principle, i.e. colour screen overlay).
However lately I have been using Pixel Filter, which draws a fine, invisible grid of black pixels (configurable density), that changes at regular intervals to evenly protect the AMOLED against burn-in. I use this app when reading in the dark too.

Thanks for this. I have been using f.lux on my iPhone and have looking for something similar to try once my 6P eventually arrives. So far I've had my eye on: twilight, lux auto brightness and bluelight filter. I'll check this one out as well. Really wish my phone would hurry up and ship!

Will cf.lumen burn in the screen?

How does this compare to twilight?

Less Vampires.......
They're about the same just look a bit different, this is designed more for root while twilight is focused on non-root.

The "updated" Pulse reader stinks!

Today the Pulse RSS reader got an update, and my experience has been disappointing!
Pulse is\was one of my favorite apps... the older versions (available until today) allowed about 6 feeds to be viewable in landscape mode.
It seems like they changed the resolution for the rows, ans now I can only see 2.5 rows on the whole screen!
Perhaps they'll sort this out later, but for today I would recommend NOT downloading the update if you use Pulse on a Gtablet (VEGAn 5.1).
Just wanted to spare everyone else the disappointment. Also... there is no setting in the app to change the new resolution. If I'm wrong, please share!
Also, if anyone was smart enough to save an old .apk, could you be kind enough to link it here?
There is already another thread for Pulse and someone has posted a link to the old version.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10735980#post10735980
Oh thanks sjmoreno. I got the old apk. Thank goodness!
The updated Pulse doesn't even show up in the Market for me. I guess I'm lucky?
They plan on releasing an update to fix this today.
-=Sent from my Droid 2 (Fission 2.5.7) using Tapatalk=-
I used Titanium and went back to 1.8 on the G. Must admit the larger size is nice on the Incredible. Too hard to see the smaller thumbnails with 3.7" display.
Pulse needs an option for small and large thumbs for this reason.
I may not update Pulse on my Inc and keep 1.9.
Even the update sucks...
It only scales it very minimally, so instead of 2 rows being shown now there are 3.
Fail for tablets!

What looks great on a 7" or 10" tablet looks microscopic on a phone. Almost all of the market is driven by phone displays. On my Incredible, I prefer the update far better than 1.8, but prefer 1.8 far better on the G.
Keeping 1.8 on the G and 1.91 on the Inc. Dev should offer BOTH size options, rather than trying to choose sides.

O4X HD LCD screen

hi there.
i want to ask about O4X HD lcd screen. Is it normal that we can see a very2 thin horizontal line (maybe white or black) that is barely visible to our eyes? it is not a big problem for me,but just want to clarify with other users here. Maybe LG's true hd ips screen like that?
sorry for my bad english.
Thank you.
I've got the same thing. None of the reviews I've read online have mentioned it. Maybe our eyes are too sharp. I only notice it 20% of the time, so I don't mind so much.

Set your brightness at maximum and go to a white background, like the one from the settings menu. You should be able to see many small horizontal lines. But you only notice those when looking closely and carefully.

Day one with HTC one

Hi all,
I'm coming from and SGSII and I'm in the process of trying to setup my One how I like it. There's a few things troubling me though.
-The blacks of the screen don't seem especially black and it seems there's no way to adjust the contrast. The whole screen seems a bit flat/grey
-The menus are black text on white, I much prefer the white on black of the SII
-The scroll 'brakes' too quickly as your finger comes off the screen, it's like sliding something on sandpaper as opposed to ice. There's no 'mega scroll' flick
-I've had to download a task manager killer but I cannot end google+, gmail and googlemaps. I don't want them.
-The icons on my SII are a lot better
-I'd like the notification bar to be black
-On the SII I have gps switched off but weather apps still work, with the HTC gps has to be on.
-I'm going to have to root this phone to get adfree aren't?
I'm using nova launcher so a lot of things are similar but those things above are really bugging me. I've googled all of them and had no luck so let me know if I'm missing anything.
Thanks.
I didn't read your whole post but to get white text on black you are going to have to go with an inverted Rom, like d3rp or 42One I am sure there are others but those two come to mind.

Thanks, I might hold off on rooting for a while.
The main thing I wanted to check was that I wasn't missing an obvious settings and that the screen was working properly, it's VERY flat and grey compared to my SII.
Overall it's doing a good job but the screen is going to have to take some getting used to.

This is the difference between AMOLED and LCD. The contrast on the One is pretty much the best available on a phone LCD, but it is still an LCD, and cannot match the black levels of AMOLED.
-The menus are black text on white, I much prefer the white on black of the SII
The menus on the SII are white on black because white is a very expensive color to display, battery-wise, on an AMOLED screen. Inverted roms, or themes, will fix this for you.
-The scroll 'brakes' too quickly as your finger comes off the screen, it's like sliding something on sandpaper as opposed to ice. There's no 'mega scroll' flick
Depends on the app you're using. If you're speaking about within Sense (settings, app drawer, etc) then yeah I guess, but I'm not sure why you would need the long scrolling in such short lists.
-I've had to download a task manager killer but I cannot end google+, gmail and googlemaps. I don't want them.
Uninstall/disable them via settings>apps or kill them with an app.

You had to root your S2 to get that too.

Thanks for taking the time, much appreciated. Much as I feared the about the screen. It's a shame, I do really like OLED. Those are the two big things now, the screen and lack of centre button. It's stupid because most apps now have a black bar at the bottom which takes up about 10% of the screen for the 'options' button. A button would be much better. If it had those two things it would be the perfect phone in my eyes.
Makes sense about the menus, I checked out the 42One rom and it looks pretty good. I spent yesterday getting everything set up so I'm going to wait to root and flash.
The scroll/flick behaviour is a bit different but some lists do have a 'mega-scroll' so that was me I guess, I'd still prefer it if it was a bit looser.
I found the only option was to disable certain apps, I guess I won't be able to get into removing stuff until I root the phone.
Maybe I should have said i don't like the stock icons, I still prefer the SII one but have since downloaded some icon packs so we're all good there.
On my journeys I saw someone had written a little program to guide you through rooting your phone so I'll have to find that again. I'd also like to backup my stock setup in case of warranty issues further down the line.
Thanks again.

You can use the HTC Logo as menu button. But you'd need a custom kernel that supports that.
AMOLED displays are usually very over saturated compared to IPS LCD displays. But IPS will give you a more accurate color and truer whites and blacks.

The HTC logo doesn't have a capacitive sensor, the "logo button" feature actually uses the first row of pixels immediately above the logo as a button.
Not trying to attack anyone here, just want to make sure that the information is explained a bit more.

Yep, it's the tradeoff you made when you picked LCD.
If its any consolation, displaying white on your S2 actually caused the display consumption to go up drastically (sometimes double the power required) while on LCD the screen uses a much more consistent amount of power. The whites on your One -should- appear as truer whites, while yes, the black will be more washed out.

Useful to know, thanks!
Thanks for the input, being brand new to HTC I'm still learning what's available.
Ideally I like Nova so I'd like to keep that. I'd like the general menus to be white text on black BG, I can clean things out with Titanium and stop ads with adfree.
From what I can tell I'm going to need to root the phone and then install a rom.
Are there 'pre-optimized' roms? Are there any Roms which are basically stock except for the colour flip? Can I get 4.3 in there as well? That middle button would be great too. My SII came with swype, I miss that.
I've found instructions on rooting but a little unsure which rom to go for, konfuzion's suggestion of 42One looks ok but I don't know what's out there, supported and up to date.
If you have any more thoughts they're always welcome
I'm gonna need some help on this guys.
I'm in the UK on the EE network, can I download any rom or do I need a specific 'EE' one?
Do I need a rom if I just want superuser privileges and a reversed/inverted menu? (also be able to install titanium backup and adfree)
I think I can handle the rest of it.
Thanks.
Well you most likely have a gsm one so you wouldn't want to flash anything in the sprint one section. And seeing as your gsm i believe there are a few roms over there that are 4.3

[v2][Dec 27] AMOLED Burn-in Fixer

AMOLED Burn-in Fix
Hey Guys,
I wrote a quick app to fix the burnin for AMOLED screens.
"Burn-in" is caused by an uneven wear on the screen and can only be reversed when the uneven portions are worn like the rest of the screen.
By using this app you are guaranteed to wear only the status bar and/or navigation bar so the effects of burn-in should be reduced.
Its pretty simple for now, I may add a timer in the future if anyone is interested.

v2

- Added a burn-in tester (to check for burn-in)

You can, but this app was specifically designed to only have the status bar and navigation bar lit while active.

Good job man. Don't let those who come off as ungrateful keep you from creating things like this.
No need to have your entire screen inverted or flashing when you can simply target the two problem areas..

When you invert the color you should be brought back to the app. From there simply click hide settings and your nav/status bar should be inverted
1) I appreciate BlackDino's work. I had this unevenly aged burn-in on my statusbar & navbar.
2) I now know why Samsung ALWAYS puts a gray tint on their statusbar, so phone's screen is more evenly used/lit
3) what's with attacking the developer? I'm a little bit disappointed by XDA's lack of action to mediate the attack on developers. This app poses zero threat. Developers like BlackDino should be celebrated for her/is well intention for the community.
4) Thanks for the app, BlackDino!
And I think some people get too worked up, just call this issue uneven tan-lines issue .
Thanks for this app
Thanks for the application.

Per day maybe 1-2 minutes.
I'd check the tester every time you finish to see what the damage is like.
If the damage is pretty bad I'd do one longer than the other ones to try and balance out the wear

With amoled there really isn't any sort of perversion, since its all about which parts of the screen have been worn.
Check the tester to see if there any signs of burn-in, if not then you should be good for now

Nexus 6 Amoled Display Artifacts [THREAD CLOSED]

I've had my Nexus for only 2 days and I've noticed some artifacts on my display. I've included screenshots using Screen Test app which show some horizontal lines on my display and also vertical lines but these are more vivid on the device itself they don't seem to show so much in the screenshots. These lines are visible regardless of what I use as wallpaper. Anyone else having this issue or is this normal?? Will this clear up over time or do I need to send it in for an RMA??

LMFAO....
Ok, so because you are obviously clueless about the distinction between hardware and software, any visual artifact caused by the AMOLED display **CAN NOT** appear on a screenshot.
Those lines you are seeing are due to the DITHERING algorithm used to generate the gradient that you are displaying. Gradient = the progression from white to black through multiple degrees of gray. This is a function of SOFTWARE, not hardware. RMA will do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for this.
I understand there are different gradients, this is different, what I'm seeing is lines gradient or not but they are obvious even when not using the screen test app, they are visible everywhere at anytime doesn't matter what background or wallpaper I'm using. There are vertical lines also that look like they are baked into the screen.
Well then send it for an RMA? i dont see what your purpose of this post was, to ask if its normal to have baked in horizontal lines? its not.
i dont see any lines on my display, so i would sent it back for a replacement. i guess i was one of the lucky few with a device with no issues, the only issue i found was that i did not get any lollipop with the device, see here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/help/missing-lollipop-nexus-6-t3046877

I definitely cant see anything on the screenshot. As for the camera photos, its tricky because they are a little pixelated, probably due to the contrast.

I think it might be a good idea to go to an optometrist to make sure that the lines aren't caused by your eyes.
Your going to have these vertical lines had them on all amoled screens. But if your seeing them on say like your home screen and other places I'd get a replacement. But if you only see them say with just a white or gray screen I wouldn't worry about it. If you want you can try this app out on Google play... Amoled burn in fixer.. Good day
Thanks for your comments guys, I believe I do have an issue with my display therefore will proceed with a DOA replacement. Cheers
