Port of Icons pack on MIUI - Redmi Note 2 Themes and Apps

Hi, I found a way to install custom icon packs on MIUI.
Exploring /system I found a folder that contains custom icons. This folder is /system/media/theme/miui_mod_icons
The .png files have the name of the package of the app. So if I think I can create a custom icon (of extract it from an icon pack) and place here.
It's only an idea, but it can be useful

Yes, that works.
If you want to change the icon for an existing App, you'll need to uninstall and then reinstall the app for the new icon to take effect.
Unless somebody can find the cache directory to clear so that MIUI is forced to re-load the icons.

Don't need to reinstall... Just go the themes app and select another theme. It forces to load the icons.

When you are in manage applications, there is no home?
i cant find the advanced launch under manage aplications?
Cyan doesn't include advanced laucher... you installed a theme for it. Flash the template and it will revert back to the original.
or adb install -r launcher.apk, or replace it with the other.
yes i realized its the original but i want the original 3 screens and 4 icons per row
You can try pushing the launcher from Dwang's ROM. No guarantee it will work though. I do not know which .xml's were edited for that, but it should work

[Q] Deleted Touchwiz data

Hi,
I made a mistake while doing the TouchWizmod and deleted the original TouchWiz data..
Now i have a blackscreen with the notification bar..
I fixed it with installing LauncherPro via Adb.
Now i can see something but when i go to Homescreen swichter it says not determined yet..
I already made a factory reset.
I'm thinking about flashing my SGS via Kies with reghack but I'm not sure..
Can anyone help me restoring the TouchWizdata?
Thanks.
Deleting the TWlauncher's data will only cause TWlauncher to recreate that data, it's not big problem.
You're actually describing a correct behaviour in the second part of your post - having installed launcher pro the phone now needs to know which app (TW launcher or launcher pro) to use as default; that's why it's asking you after reboot.
To fix TW launcher, pick that as the default app and leave it to recreate it's data - it should only take about 30 seconds or so to revert to the default TW layout; plus then maybe another 30 seconds or so to rebuild your app list when you click on applications.
Twlauncher is not in the list,so I cant pick it.
And it still says not determined yet.
Even after picking Launcher Pro..
Any Suggestions?
After i downloaded adb launcher i can pick Launcher Pro as default.
But i still need TW.
Pls help
In System/app do you have a file called TouchWiz30Launcher.apk?
No,I already said it.
I deleted this file =/.
To be sure i searched for this file.
I just got TouchWiz30Launcher.odex
Find TouchWiz30Launcher.apk here on the forums. There's a nice patched one with some good improvements you might want to try.
Also, this is not Development. Thread reported.

[Q] change dock skin

hey XDAs,
i got a arc launcher that already comes with a themed dock.
now i wanted to change the dock and i got this folders where i replaced this file with another .png of the same size.
when i try to install the launcher i get "application not installed" error.
do i need to change more than just the icon or what did i wrong?
so....nobody?
got the same error with app icons, too.
Should work if not you could try to recompile the apk with new png.
How did u install it? Flash via CWM or copy over?
1. Did u remove previous version first? Must be done first unless your flashing via cwm.
2. Also with framework dependancies etc remove any arc widgets prior to installing, install arc launcher then reinstall or copy over widgets again.

hey,
thx for your advice but i already managed it on my own

[Q] About Customizing Stock ROM

Hello. I am using Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000, N7000ZSLR1, Android 4.1.2 Hong Kong version. There are something I am not quite satisfied with the ROM, I have rooted my device with Chinese one key root app so I wonder if there are some ways to customize the ROM.
1. The first thing is Notification screen. In this Android 4.1.2, when you pull it down, the shortcuts at the top will first display the tiles in picture 1, then it will automatically swipe to picture 2:
Picture 1:
Picture 2:
Is there any method that can modify / remove tiles at the top? Or at least make it like picture 2 in default when I pull down, no swiping.
2. In this ROM, the Task Manager no longer display in app drawer like Android 2.3.6, instead I need to long press Home button to go to "Recent App" screen and tap the pie chart icon at the lower left corner to open Task Manager. I'm curious, the system app is in \system\app, and it IS an .apk. So I wonder if I can at least make a shortcut from it and add to "Home Screen", I always need to use it and I don't want to download third party app for this shortcut.
Recent Apps screen:
View in ES File Explorer:
3. The default Launcher in the stock ROM is TouchWizHome, and by default there are no indication when you tap an icon to open the app. So I wonder if I can add some "effect" to notify me when I open an app, like dim the icon or glow at the edge of icon.
4. If you are a Titanium Backup user, please tell me that should I wipe system apps' data first before uninstall it. Because it always gives me a feeling of "unclean" if I don't wipe the data before uninstall it. I always uninstall system app to keep my phone slimmer and faster.
Thank you in advance.
first, to change anything with the user interface aka UI your rom must be deodexed, so you need to create a deodexed rom from this rom or look for it in a chinease android forum (defnitely you will find it).
once your rom is deodexed, you can flash one of AryaMod or Sweet rom mods to change the interface, i think most of them will work because of the same framework but make a full backup because they might not work.
if you only need to change the order of quick toggles in the notification panel i think you can do it from settings >> display
or you can make your own mods following one of the awesome guides in this forum but that will take you time and you may face bootloops

How about question 2 and 4?
2/ i think there is a resizable widget of the task manager, all you have to do is place it in your home screen and when you click on it it will open the task manager. i have no idea about how to make the task manager appear in the app drawer but sure there is a way to do it.
4/ yes i always use titanium backup to backup and restore my non-cloud-based apps but not from and to different android version. never restore for example apps that were backed up on jellybean to kitkat or any other android version cuz this will cause force-close and other problems. whenever you are going to install new rom just wipe /preload and /system (/data partition will be wiped automatically when you make wipe data - factory reset) this way you will leave no trace of old system apps data, config, cache or anything.
don't uninstall system apps just freeze them using titanium backup or directly from app settings if you are on ics or above. if you removed an important system app like google contact sync that you may think not important you may get force-close, unmounted storage, ui crash all the time and similar problems.
Hope i helped you

2/ ...Yes you think, but there is not, if it has then I'll place it at home screen from the start... I just want to know how to make that system app have a shortcut icon...
4/ But won't uninstall create more space for my system? I mean frezzing them will still occupy some space right?

It is just a safety procedure. Freeze the app and use your phone for a few days. If nothing funny happens go ahead and uninstall it to reclaim the space.
If you are absolutely sure the particular app you want to uninstall will not be needed anymore just uninstall it without going thru the freeze time.

Replacing Sony's apps

I'm looking for a way to replace the system apps with their AOSP counter part.
E.g. dialer, email, contacts etc.
Does someone know if it's possible for all apps or are their any problems to be expected?
And second question, is there probably a flash able zip for this?
I'd be curious to know as well. Coming from a Nexus device I hate Sony's attempts to "improve" the basic apps like dialer and messaging. They all look like they were designed in 1998.
That should be possible....

I think at the moment there is no available zip. You need CWM for your idea - do you have your phone rooted ?
If so there should be a possiblity to create such a flashable zip , that erase the not needed apps and install the new apps...
If your phone is not rooted maybe a batch file could do the trick via ADB for you - in a first step it should block the not wanted apps and in a second step it should install the new apps.
So you need the Names of the packages / apps that should be erased and before that, you should find the AOSP-Apps that run on the Z3C.

Yes it's rooted.
I would be happy too, to replace the dialer & contact apps with AOSP ones.
Regarding messaging, i'm using this one : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fr.slvn.mms
Collecting of required information
Hi folx,
in this post i try to get all required information to replace the not wanted SONY stuff by the desired stuff mostly AOSP.
Your phone should be rooted and CWM should be installed.
Then we have to build a fitting flashable zip file.
But to succeed we fist need to test if the wanted apps will work on our phone. (i will test for example: Dialer from CM11)
If these Apps work, then we should have a deeper look on the creating of such a flashable.zip file. I have found a lot of howtos in the web. But to be sure we should backup those SONY-Apps
Here are 2 links i would use:
http://www.android-hilfe.de/root-hacking-modding-fuer-lenovo-ideapad-a1/268272-how-cwm-update-zips-erstellen.html german
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1721680 english here at XDA
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2764533 this can also be useful
The updater - script within this zip-file could be adjusted to our needs. Deleting the not wanted Sony.apps from /system /app and replace them with the wanted Apps. If i find the time i could provide such a file - but i can't test it.
The simple Trick:
But you could do it more simple - you just need a root explorer (i prefer ES File Explorer). Go to the above mentioned folder /system/app or system/private. There you should find the not wanted apps. Just copy them in a backup folder on your sdcard, delete the sony apk in the system - partition, copy your desired apk in the folder, where you have deleted the Sony-apk, give the right permissions and then reboot.
If the new app fails - just delete it in the same manner as described above and copy the backupped app in the corresponding folder and check the permissions again. - reboot.
I would really appreciate posting your results and if there are any further questions.... do not hesitate - we are all here to learn and get our phone better
Cheers
Rhonin
I probably have time to test this on the weekend.
I'll let you know how it goes.
I copied over Contacts, Contacts Prvovider and the Dialer apks.
However I couldn't get them to work.
Neither the Contacts nor the Dialer app showed up in the app drawer.
Email didn't work either.
Deskclock works fine. I'd love dialler to work...
