Fuzzy and too much contrast
all pictures from front camera are fuzzy looking and facebook picture posts or videos are blurry and very poor quality. I come from Note 4 and I never saw this

I'm having this exact issue. My photos across all three cameras are blurry and full of noise. I have a G4 as well, and my photos come out perfect. Software glitch maybe?

...all of the cameras have lenses which are flush to the exterior
Try cleaning the lens' areas and make sure there are no protective films on them.

Couple of question
Hey guys!
I want to buy V10 this week
I would like to know
1.Is V10 in white color going to be dirty?
2.Will LG release stock roms?
3.Which one is better in auto mode?G4 or V10?
4.Is it worthy to buy V10 instead of G4?
What do u think should I buy G4?
sorry for grammatical problems
Thanks

Why dont you answer?

I cant stand the front facing camera's. Terrible quality. So grainy. The rear camera is much better.

The front cameras are ok. The rear camera is awesome. I never seen such good camera on a phone. Comparable with a DSLR camera.
I have V10 H961N (rooted) and G4 H815(rooted) too. Exactly the same camera on both. The same quality. The software on V10 has more option than on G4 (almost on video)

The camera is not the worst I've seen but compared to Nexus 6p it's quite bad. Even G4 has better quality pictures, which is indeed strange. Most of the photos I take are blurry, or have weird edges around them. Even when it's a sunny day. I did expect a lot more, but I won't say the camera is complete sh*t.

Sounds like your lens is dirty.

It could be scratched too. I picked up a used V10 and had the same problem. The scratches weren't easily noticeable but when you looked in the right light you could see them. I ended up ordering a new lens and it works awesome again. I have new G4 I compared the pics with and they are pretty much identical. As for the 6P taking better photos it's close but no way. I had a 6P and the V10 takes much more realistic photos with less blur. There is no manual mode or OIS so good luck with the motion and night shots. After owning many phones this is the best camera hands down, second is the Note 5. I tried the S6, Note 4 and 5, Turbo and Turbo 2, MotoX Pure, 6P, G4 and the V10 within the last month or so along with a couple not worth mentioning.

On the fence on this one...
Got a Note1 right now, obviously, no OIS, the flex doesn't have it either.
I use the camera app FV-5, and have EXCELLENT result. I use my device a TON for the
camera, to document problems with machines I work on, including some macro shots, indoor
lighting most of the time, so the camera quality is important to me.
Could someone post a few photos? Would be nice if someone was using the FV-5 app, in
macro mode so I could see how well it holds up.
TIA!

Everyone's opinions are different I realize, but my person opinion of the flex camera is that it is so incredibly bad that I almost returned the phone for that reason only. I love taking pictures, and assumed it would have a good camera because it is so similar to the G2. Upon getting it home, I took several pictures and took the same pictures next to my wife's new xperia Z1s. The Sony makes the LG look like a complete joke. The whites on my pictures are as blue as blue can be. Anything dark is blotchy as all hell. The pictures in general look grainy, especially on the G Flex screen, but even if I take them off of the phone they look bad. Out door pictures are better, but inside the flash only makes matters worse as far as the blues. Its just hands down the worst cell phone camera I have used in years. I tried a few different apps on the market in hopes that it would help, but I found most to be really slow, or not any better than the stock app. If you are a picture taker, personally, I'd recommend anything other than the G Flex. Aside from the screen and the camera, it is a good phone that could be made great with vanilla android if the community every figures out the bootloader... but if your interests are the camera... pass on this one. Its down right awful. If you're not concerned about the phone's size, check the xperia out. The camera on my wife's phone is phenomenal. In any situation it takes beautiful photos from the stock app with zero effort.
Check out these Flex pictures in the review. They look pretty good to me for a camera phone that is.

The problem I have with the Z Ultra, is no LED/flash. The low/poor lighting might be an issue, from some of the
sample photos I've seen. The Xperia Z1/ZU only are 5" screens.
My Note1 is a 5.3, looking to go to a 6" screen this round.

They look pretty good, has anyone found an original 4k video recorded on the Note 4? Be interesting to see if the OIS is better than the G3's.
really promising

This is an area where the OIS will come in handy.
My Nexus 5 really put my GS4 to shame in low light, even though the GS4 was as good, if not better than the N5 in decent lighting. With the OIS the camera can use a slightly slower shutter speed to get a clearer image, without worrying about blurring the image as much, or having the increase the ISO to counteract the quicker shutter speed.

Depends how they implement it. The G2 was so bad it took five seconds to focus and everything was a blur, even video, because they relied on too low a shutter speed and OIS only helps so much.

You're right, it's no guarantee that it will be fantastic.
However, the Note 3 and S4/5 have been decent, although not fantastic in low light. So if we assume that the sensor/algorithms are at least as good as that on the Note 4 (although they'll most likely be a bit better!) and then throw the OIS on top of that, it should make for a better camera overall.
We'll have to wait and see for some proper reviews and user hands on feedback though!

I have noticed this also. This happens because you cant touch to focus in snapchat. The stock camera app can take amazing from facing photos when you can touch to focus. The auto focus doesnt kick in like it probably should =/
I think most of phone now including HTC 10, still have focusing issue in front camera.. hope they fix that
not bad, but not LG, Sony or Samsung quality.
I have the problem that the front facing cam only delivers sharp pictures while holding the cam no too far away. This even happens with the HTC camera app. When I hold my arm fully streched, the image is never 100% sharp. The view finder shows a sharp picture but the result is blurred. I really start to worry that my front facing lens might be broken. But if this was correct, the preview was also blurred, right?

This was officially fixed with 1.90.x.
Was fiddling with devcheck, and stumbled onto the tabs for front camera. It seems to me that the front camera is RAW capable. Can anybody confirm or deny this claim? If so, I would love some app recommendations that can squeeze out every ounce of RAW goodness from it. Thank you all in advance!

It was a Snapchat error. We have got it fixed finally by rating it bad on the Play Store and mentioning our problems while writing the reviews xD. Its wonderful now.
OR
Maybe the latest software update had to do something with that because Snapchat sucked big time for me, both front and back camera video and picture.
Hello yeah
I come from the m7 and I'm delighted of course by the quality.
I have a comparison had an s5 and s7 edge in comparison and grade videos made from a clear winner.
My favorite is, although I am also a fan of the s7, the m10.
Unfortunately, I was disappointed somewhat in poorer light conditions due to my high expectations.
Overall I am but more than happy with the cam
Absolutely terrible. So bad, in fact that its' one of the things that I'm jumping ship to another brand next time. They advertised this as having OIS and being special, but the focus range is whack because they went with a Samsung sensor that was having issues and the post processing is WAAAAAAAAAAAAY too aggressive. I find mid range and high end phones from like 3 years ago are better looking because they are actually in focus and don't look strangely digital.

With good lighting, the camera takes pictures comparable to the note 7. But the note 7 starts faster and focuses faster.

yeah I had the note 7 myself and completely agree what you said, except for the pic quality, I still found that the pics were better on the S7 edge/note 7 compared to the V20 I had , I loved my blue coral Note 7, but traded it in and got the V20 and realized I was wanting the camera opening quickness, better pics, led,AOD, wireless charging, and waterproofing(I kayak a lot), so I just returned my V20 for the sliver S7 Edge, then the next day I got the 100.00 bill credit for going back to Samsung, since I had the Note 7:good:
Yeah, I miss the note 7 camera (and stylus). With the note 7, I could actually start the camera and take a very quick shot through heavily tinted windows and it comes focused and great. I can't seem to do that with the v20..
Over all the camera is good.. But it falls behind over the Samsung ones. I'll keep this though and wait for the note 8...
Wonder how the Mate 9 camera will compare.
My wife's relatives were in town. For the first time, my wife let me take pics with my device. She didn't really like the quality on the Note 4, but she did trust the LG V20. Pics came out great. YMMV of course... lighting, conditions, settings. But Auto Mode does a pretty good job.
What would everyone recommend for the HDR Settings? Auto, On, or Off?
I've tried a bit of testing... The only time manual was better for me was when I lowered the iso and took a longer shutter speed to lessen grain. But auto does a good job.
What I don't like is when you zoom in. Then everything seems like a water color painting. Although my wife's iPhone 6 does the same when you zoom in. I'm not sure.. But I don't think the note 7 did that....
Can you post sample photos?
Took this with the v20 wide angle camera and have to say I am quite impressed. Shot the phone with manual mode and HDR on.
Here are a few photos I've taken with the regular lens, HDR, and 4:3 16MP.
Both photos have a decent amount of light in them, but I thought they turned out pretty well.
P. S. Sorry for them being sideways
Thanks
Capable of taking some good photos, but this is the most inconsistent phone i've ever owned. Photos are grainy when they have no reason to be (more than sufficient lighting). Shutter speed drops to 1/9 most of the time, causing huge blurry messes.
They need to send an update out to fix this, zero reason this sensor/lense should have these issues. My g5 takes much better photos in nearly all situations

Yes, I noticed this too..But then I went to a Samsung store and tested the s7..and it was similar. I don't remember that hastening to my note 7 though...unless I'm mistaken
I think the camera is terrible on the V20. Its okay in bright light, but even indoor lighting it struggles with. Everytime I try to grab a photo of my son I regret buying this phone.
Very disappointed in the camera
I took advantage of the T-Mobile S6 trade in while I really liked my camera on the S6 I was ready for an improvement and it was a toss up between the s7 or the v20 for a free trade in I couldn't pass it up. Problem is since I gave my S6 away I cant replace my V20 with the S7 or anything else Im stuck with it I can return it within the 15 days but that wouldn't help my situation I believe since I got the free bill credit trade in from the S6.
Apparently I made the wrong decision based upon the camera it's terrible! I've tried every setting manual or auto every lighting condition and I can confirm like the others here grainy or blurry photos. Only great lighting will yield decent photos but not one photo so far is even better than my S6 sadly. Is this maybe cause its the t mobile variant? Other reviews online and photos I've seen I Was impressed.
This camera went backwards for me. Everything else about the phone I really like however this camera which is my #1 priority is ****. If I zoom in I see the water painting look. If I use the front camera all pics look like a water painting without even zooming in. One thing I did notice is the wide angle lens the color accuracy looks better than the regular lens in auto and it's less grainy WTF! I've tried 4:3 and 16:9 does not make a difference. pissed about this. T-Mobile said there surprised by this but reading here obviously I'm not the only one seeing this. T mobile said they would look at it and if they see what I'm saying they could replace the phone with another V20 but what will that do? is this maybe a t mobile specific issue? will a software update fix this?
Yes low.light pictures suck
Has anyone tried turning off HDR? I've been reading the forums on reddit and by turning off HDR, the quality of the photos, according to the users, increased tenfold. So, that's definitely something to try.

Front Facing Cameras - Is your Wide angle better than Normal?

Ok, so I really want to love this phone but I can't figure out why the front camera wide angle photos look sharp (almost too sharp) and the normal 8 Mp photos from the front camera have no detail whatsoever. Look at the attached picture and compare the clarity of the nose, eyes, and eyebrows. The difference is huge. When taking portraits, you don't have an option to take wide angle photos, so portraits from the 8Mp camera don't look good. Normal camera should be the same as the one in G7, but it's not nearly as good.
No effects / skin smoothing etc is applied, so I'm thinking mine is defective. Can you guys take some side by side normal and wide angle photos with the front camera to compare?
Thanks.
Allen K
Your “standard” camera looks unfocused, which is why it is blurrier.
That said, after some testing I do think the “wide” selfie camera looks better in general. The main thing that bothers me is the two cameras have differing color profiles. I prefer the default color profile of the wide, so that looks better to be.
The same problem applies to the rear camera as well.
Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk
It doesn't seem to focus. When I tap on the screen, all it does is change the exposure / brightness, but there is no change in focusing. It seems that both front cameras have a fixed focus because neither adjust to tapping, but wide angle has a good bit more detail.
I stopped by the store and took two pictures side by side - store unit was noticeably better, though as good as I would've liked. I'm getting another G7 for my wife and will have to compare them.

From what I can tell, and based on some reviews I've watched, front cameras have fixed focus... maybe, due to this, the main lens has a larger minimum distance that needs to be maintained for a clearer shot. It still seems a bit off.. but I've been able to get somewhat better shots out of it holding the camera a bit farther away. I'm getting a G7 for my wife, so I'll be able to do some comparisons.

I can say this - I just compared the front camera with a G7, and the G7 is a little brighter and clearer, at least in semi-low light situation. It's possible that the main camera on my V40 is defective, but not bad enough to worry about it right now.

Interesting to note that the 16mp rear wide angle cameras have a different focal length between V40 and G7 - 2.18mm vs. 2.38mm. Both are f/1.9.

Thank you so much for your help. ?
Do you find any difference in picture quality from both of these phones (the identical sensors)?
Wait... Different focal length?, I hope this isn't like LG G6 variants
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g6/how-to/lg-g6-wide-angle-camera-2-versions-one-t3712985/page1
Not sure about the focal length differences...but they're definitely not the same.
When taking a close-up selfie, the main camera on the G7 is much clearer than the V40's. But V40's wide angle is sharper than the main camera, and despite lower resolution, is much closer in clarity to the G7 only front camera. At a distance, the difference is a bit harder to notice.
That said, I did compare my phone to another V40 in the store, and the store demo was clearer, so I think mine might just be defective. I'm just not sure if it's worth trying to replace, since I would likely have to pay restocking and I don't want a refurbished unit from LG.
